Lee Byung Hun’s first historic movie has been unveiled. 
The trailer for Lee Byung Hun’s upcoming Gwanghae, the Man Who Became King was released online on June 29. 
Taking on dual roles in the movie, Lee Byung Hun’s charisma is once again clearly evident in even the short trailer, especially the scene where Lee Byung Hun’s character comes across the identical version of himself. 
Gwanghae, the Man Who Became King is set in the time of King Gwanghae of the Joseon Dynasty and tells the story of a peasant, who identically resembles the king, and comes to switch places with the king who is in danger of an assassination plot. 
Han Hyo Joo also stars in the movie which is expected to premiere in September.

Let’s get real, Lee ByungHun makes a sexy anything. They could dress him in a potato sack and– wait, could that be arranged? The fewer clothing the better is what I always say.
The Prince and Pauper type film is titled “Gwanghae, the Man Who Became King” and is set to release in September. In the meantime, all we can do is drool all over our computers while we anticipate it.

Please bear with me as I confused myself  I think.. Lee Byung Hun's 'The King of Joseon' title is 'Gwanghae, The Man who Became King' for the domestic release while the international title is ''Masquerade.' In any case, all three titles definitely refer to the same movie.

Lee Byeong-Heon's first historical "Masquerade" was revealed in a teaser.
"Masquerade" deals with the 15 days missing from history about a commoner who pretends to be the king and he is at risk of being killed in the Chosun times, during the 8 years reign of Gwang Hae-gun.
In the teaser, commoner Ha Seon (Lee Byeong-Heon) who looks exactly like the King which Heo Gyoon (Ryoo Seung-yong) conveys a secret story.
Lee Byeong-Heon takes on two roles, the commoner who faces the king who looks just like him and the king.
"Masquerade" will be released in Chuseok this year.

Actor Lee Byeong-Heon on the poster of "Masquerade".
"Masquerade" is about a commoner becoming king instead of the real King Gwang-hae who is on the verge of being taken down. The movie talks about the 15 days missing from history.
In the poster, there are two Lee Byung-Hun. One of them is King Gwang-hae who is looking at the commoner who looks like him and the commoner has his head down and is unable to look at the king in the face.
This is the first time Lee Byung-Hun is playing two roles at once with extreme difference in character.
The copy that says "8 years of King Gwang-hae's rule, another king disappears" makes one curious about the 15 days that don't exist in history. The energy between the two Lee Byung-Hun's seem to be significant. 
To be released on Chuseok.

The teaser poster for Gwanghae: The Man Who Became King (formerly known as I Am The Joseon King) has been revealed, and center stage are its two main characters, King Gwanghae and the beggar Ha Sun, both played by Lee Byung Hun.

The movie centers around the Joseon Dynasty’s 15th ruler, King Gwanghae, whose life is under a constant threat of assassination, and a lowly citizen, who bears a strong resemblance to him and is installed in the throne while the king recovers from poisoning.

Gwanghae also stars Han Hyo Joo as the queen and Ryu Seung Ryong as the king’s loyal advisor/councilor.

The film will be released in September.

The highly-anticipated sageuk movie ‘Masquerade’ has recently released its official poster, featuring our charismatic main star Lee Byung Hun in his dual roles as the King and the beggar who possess similar look to each other.
The main plot is about the 15th King of Joseon, King Gwanghae who puts a beggar with a resemblance look of him in the throne after learning that’s he’s the target of assassination conspiracy. From what I can see the two roles would have a complete opposite character to each other; the king one with a charismatic and resolute attitude, while the beggar with confuse, fear, and inferior mind.
‘Masquerade’ also starring Han Hyo Joo as his queen and Ryu Seung Ryong as the king’s loyal councilor will premiere in September.

The project isn’t to be confused with Lee Byung-heon’s sageuk movie Gwanghae, the Man Who Became King, although thanks to their titles and similar release dates, they’ve been garnering lots of comparisons. Joo said, “An acting contest between me and Lee Byung-heon sunbae? No way. The genres are completely different, and our movie [i Am the King] has a strong comedy slant. You know how war movies can be about the same topic but express it differently. You can think of this the same way. Because Lee Byung-heon sunbae will obviously be a better actor, I feel no pressure. He’s a sunbae I watched and admired in middle school, before I even began dreaming about being an actor. Just being compared to him is an honor.”
