MBC "Gye Baek": Lee Seo Jin's Reason to Live...

***SPOILER ALERT***

The popular MBC historical drama “Gye Baek” aired another episode on September 6. Gye Baek (played by Lee Seo Jin) and Eun Go (played by Song Ji Hyo) shared a heartwarming moment. However, King Uija (played by Jo Jae Hyun) wasn’t too happy about this.

Gye Baek injured his arm while fighting against a couple of soldiers. Luckily a young girl found him and brought him back to Hong Soo (played by Kim Yoo Suk). Eun Go and King Uija were releaved that he had returned.

After waking up, Gye Baek immediately started eating. Seeing Gye Baek eating this way, Eun Go commented: “I’ve never seen someone so happy while eating," expressing her concern for him. He apologized for making her worry upon which she replied: “I don’t want your apologies, just make sure that you look out for your health.” Gye Baek replied: “Will you become my reason for living then?” Eun Go smiled and said: “One fine day, when one fine day comes, I will…”

King Uija followed their conversation and felt quite bitter about it. He himself loves Eun Go, but had to marry someone else. He still regrets telling Eun Go that she has to marry someone one day…

Sorry...Just went back to uni to study...busy sem. Afraid I cant give spoilers anymore. Maybe when I'm free or juz a brief summary.

SPOILER for Ep14

As the prisoners of war and uija head for the village, wuija assassins follow them. The army on the other hand chase after GB and SC. Uija and the rest enter the forest.

SC drop from his horse. GB turn back and help him saying that its because he don’t know the way to the village. GB call SC to run away first while he take down the guards.

Uija and the Pows/slaves reach a place which is misty and have pile up stones/rocks.

Flash back SC asking Uija if he knows how to read 8___ kind of maps(something like maze –to find the secret location). Uija call them all to follow him closely.

GB fight of the guards and got hurt on his arm.

The wuija assassins came to the same place. They keep walking but keep coming back to the same place.

Uija and the pows reach the village. Heungsu was already there. Uija ask who is he and he replied him. HS said why he didn’t put on the uniform, after all his effort in talking, his mouth who had work hard. HS said that everyone here is a king, he is a king.

SC arrived. He greeted HS, long time no see. HS said he brings back so many ppl, the food is already not enough. Uija ask SC if the person he study with is HS. SC said although they learn together but because HS is disrespectful towards the teacher he got kick out. HS said there was nothing to learn from the teacher anymore. Uija ask where is GB.

GB walking in the woods. He fainted.

Jukduk reports to King that the pows/slaves has escape. He ask if the goncheon guy escape as well. King said that Jukduk is involved so he let the pows go. Jukduk claim he is innocent.

Kwiun report to queen that uija escape and told her about the maze. Bi said its impossible for uija to know how to read the map. She said someone must be helping him and call kwiun to find out.

SC bring Uija and the rest where he lost GB. SC ask if they are going to find him since its going to be dark. Uija said they cant let the guards see them and ask that they wait. Eunko arrive. Uija ask her not to worry, Gb will arrive.

A village girl found GB. She brought hin to meet with Uija and the rest.

GB eating. Eunko said that it’s the 2st time she saw someone eating alone happily. Gbsaid he is sorry for letting her worry. Ek said next time she doesn’t want to hear him appoligice anymore, and ask him to take care of himself/love himself. He said he doesn’t have reason to do that. She already take back the reason ( I think he is talking about the revenge). EK said that there is still other reasons to live. She ask him to take a look at the villagers life. GB said that she is taking a painful road and if its ok for him to live like the villagers(Uija watching them ). Ek said after this road ends, she will probably live like the villagers. GB ask EK if she can be the reason for him to live. EK smiles and said that there will be good days in the future, then do so. (Uija hurting here)

SC,HS,Uija,EK and GB in room. HS said that the food wont be enough. Ek said she will provide the money and food. SC ask HS to accept the pows. HS said that for them to live here they must be one body with the villagers. Uija said he wants all baekjae to live like the villagers. He ask the 4 of them to help him. Ofcourse everyone agrees except GB who didn’t respond.

GB outside. Uija and EK went to him. Uija ask if Gb still doesn’t like him. He ask Gb not to leave the village and live here. Uija and EK goes back.

Moogeun serve dokgae, daesoo and yoonsu with pork. He ask why are they not eating. Yoonsu eats and dokgae scolds him that he still have appetite to eat after staying with the pigs. Yoonsu said that they haven eat for 2 days.

Moogeun ask dokgae if he killed before someone who worth 200$. He ask if someone in baekjae worth that much and ask daesoo and yoonsu. Yoonsu said unless its from the royalties. Dokgae ask MG if its really someone from the royal family. MG said so what if it so, and ask as a sunbae what will he do. Dokgae said it cant be done, it cause a lot of trouble like moojins case. Moogeun said it can be an advantage too.He ask dokgae to work with him. Dokgae said 5:5 but moogeun said 10:0 (haha)

Uija meets king. King scolded him about the pows matter. Uija said killing the pows , hes scared of even dreaming it. King said being on the throne isn’t a clean position. Uija said like what the king have done to moojin and his mother. King said uija wants to marry son taeyeon so that munjin will help him. Uija said he is not the same as King and in between throne and the person he loves he will let go of the throne.

Eunko meets bi. Bi tells her not to get involve in the Powas matter anymore and calls her to spy on Uijas every move. Bi tells Ek that she suspect someone is helping Uija. Bi said that tomorrow is Uija and taeyeon’s wedding day and calls her to observe him.

GB went back to Moojin’s drinking buddy’s house. He saw a lot of swords and ask what are they for. Jang said that there is a martial arts competition to hire bodyguards for the royalties.

Uija and Eunko on the way sending the wedding gifts at night. They stop to rest awhile. Uija siting down alone. Ek approach him. Uija ask if he really must get married with TY. Ek said that Uija must be patient and withstand it. Uija agrees and said that EK had enter Sataek family eventhough she doesn’t wants, how could he not withstand juz a marriage. Uija told Ek not to be like him and tells her to marry to person she loves. Ek said she never thought of that day. Uija said there will be a good day ( he actually said what Ek tells GB), the guy u meet will be very happy..( Ek facial expression…she knows ofcourse Uija heard them).

Next day, wedding ceremony.

Pows leave the village to bring their family to the village.

SC ask if Gb have anyone to bring. GB said he doesn’t so SC brought him along to find the family of the pows who are already dead in the palace and bring them back to the village.

But they were too late, they were all killed by the soldiers because of the pows labeled as criminals.

The pows when back to the village, crying over the death of their family members. GB ask SC didn’t u study a lot, let me ask u. Does the world change a person or a person change the world. SC said ppl live in this world, so ppl are the one that change the world.

GB meets EK and Uija. He told them he wants to enter the palace. Ek refuse to let him go. GB said he wont act the same way as last time using force, he wants to stay by Bi side and eliminate all her supporters. Ek said GB is not like her and Uija, he cant lie/pretend about himself and wont be able to convince Bi. Uija also objects. GB said he finally knows what is he suppose do with his life. His father also holds the sword to make sure ppl live like humans.

UIja said if u meant that way, he wont stop him. He tells him about the martial arts competition for bodyguards and call him to participate and see if he manage to get Bi’s attention. GB said he wil participate.

Competition starts. GB enter finals. He actually was about to lose but he use the skill that moojin taught him last time and defeated his opponent. King saw that his skill is the same as moojin.

King ask GB if his name is sengik/ sengit/sengil(if I don’t hear wrongly but it means something like victory)and who taught him martial arts. GB said no one, if he must name them then its his opponents. King said its weird and ask him who he wants to serve as bodyguard. GB wants to be Bi’s personal BG. Bi rejected saying that she don’t need one.

GB ask Bi if she dislike him. Bi ask him to drink tea. EK gave GB the cup of tea and he drank it all at once. Ek ask isn’t it hot.

Bi in her room. GB reminds Bi about Moojin who drank the tea like that too. Namjoo came to report that he haven find goncheon. Bi ask if they find in gimi’s place. Namjoo said yes and gimi is always in jukduk’s house. Bi orders her maid to call GB and a few guards to accompany her to Jukduks place.

On the way, queen attacked by assassins. They shoot a arrow to Bi and GB takes the shot. It turns out that it’s a test on GB (arrow has no sharp ends) and they are wuija assassins.

Flashback. Ek told Gb that Bi isn’t someone who easily trust ppl. If he doesn’t get her attention and be her bodyguard, he wont be able to be by her side anymore. Once he doubt, he wont be able to get her trust.

Back to present. Kwiun showed up. GB remembers him when he hold him, moogeun and mom as hostage. Gb ask Bi if she was testing him. She just put on a sly smile and continues journey.

Gimi at Jukduks house. Jukduk said that the citizens are getting not satisfy. Jukduk ask where is goncheon now and gimi said he is outside the city at a safe place. His family has also been move.

Jukduk said goncheon must never be found. Bi arrives and said to kill goncheon. Jukduk say its not the best solution. Bi said then what is the best. He ask Gimi where is goncheon. Ek heard their conversation outside the room.

Choyoung and men finds goncheon. They found him with the monks and took him away. Namjoo and the assassins arrive but are too late.

Goncheon got tied with both hands one end and his body is crafted words with knife. The citizens scolding him and throwing stones at him. The soldiers came and brought him to wang hyorin. He put him in jail.

Bi heard about the news. She ask where is Jukduk and gimi. Ek said that they both went to the palace.

Wang hyorin came to the prison. He ask the guards to guard carefully. Aint there ppl who wants to come in to kill the culprit. Wang hyorin ask goncheon where is the account book and receipt (if I’ve not mistaken). He as if he should remove the guards(let the assassins kill him).

Wang hyorin reports to Bi about the matter. Goncheon doesn’t want to hand out the book or tell the names of the ministers involve unless his safety is ensured. He left. Bi ask what to do now. Ek apologise that the matter is too big. Ek ask if Jukduk is involved. Bi said that she knew Ek will know even if she dint tell her. Ek said she got something to let Bi see. She gave the kites with the msg to BI.

Ek said that this is what the citizens of baekjae felt. They are blaming the royalties. Bi said how can it turn out like this. Ek said they need to think of a way to save Jukduk. Bi said there is only one way, kill him. Bi call her maid to call GB. Ek said he’s too new. Bi said he is trustable.

GB came to meet Bi. Bi said u said u want to be my follower. Do u still think that way. Gb said ofcourse. Bi said I’ll give u your 1st assignment. I need u to kill someone. Gb ask who…

SPOILER Ep15 (kinda cut of parts that are not so important)

GB on the roof spying. Flashback, Bi told GB to kill goncheon if he succeed, he will officially be her bodyguard.

Bi meets kwiun. She tells him that after Gb kill goncheon, all the soldiers will be after him and ask him to take the opportunity to steal the account book. Kwiun ask if GB got caught should he save him. She said she only need to take the book. Bi said Gb dead or alive it doesn’t matter.

Back to present.

GB look around the prison gate but find it strange that it is loosely guarded. He went off.

Kwiun report to Bi that GB didn’t do anything. Gb came to see Bi. Kwiun hide himself. Gb report that goncheon isn’t in prison. He told her that the place is loosely guarded and it looks like a trap. He said if I’m them I will keep him outside the city.

Wang hyorin report to king about goncheon not telling anything. Hyorin said he suspect Gimi coz 3 years ago it was gimi who gave back goncheon’s position after he was fired for corruption. King said isn’t GImi jukduk’s follower and they suspect Jukduk’s involvement too. King ask where is Goncheon now. Hyorin said he is in a cave outside the city. The account book is hidden in a temple. King call hyorin to bring it over and he will be the one investigating/asking goncheon. Bi came in. King call hyorin to bring him safely.

Wang hyorin and soldiers on the way to the city bringing goncheon along with 2 other prisoners, all the prisoners head covered with bags. GB watched them and guess which is goncheon and throw a knife and kill him. More than half of the soldiers went after GB. Hyorin check if goncheon is alive but he is dead. Wuija assassins attack wang hyorin and the few soldiers. Kwiun took the account scroll from hyorin and left.

Hyorin report to the king about what had happen. King said only him and hyorin knows that the prisoner in the middle is goncheon and suspect him. Hyorin said he is innocent.

GB meets Bi. Bi ask GB how he knows he prisoner in the middle is goncheon. GB said the way they walk is different. The other 2 walks steadily as if they know where are they going but the one in the middle walks like he is afraid. Bi call him to be her bodyguard.

Jukduk and Gimi at jukduk’s place. Gimi ask if they must kill goncheon. Jukduk said he didn’t know the person who kill goncheon. Gimi said hes glad since its over. Bi came and said its not over yet. Gimi said he wont said a word about it but Bi said she cant trust him. He offers to retire and leave the city but Bi gives him a knife and tells him to kill himself.

Next day during the meeting, King tells the ministers who are involve in bribe to surrender and he will let them live. Gimi step out and pointed at Jukduk that he is responsible for the matter. Jukduk claims himself as innocent .

Gimi leaves, 3 other ministers scolded gimi and said how can he betray jukduk. Gimi told them about him being loyal but Bi telling him to suicide.

Bi heard about the news. She tells GB to do something for her.

Gb sneak into Gimi’s house. Flashback, EK and GB talking. Bi actually tell Gb to warn Gimi. Ek said that if Gimi is injured then it will bring more harm to sataek family.

Back to present. GB went in and injure Gimi’s arm.

Next day 2 of the 3 ministers came to visit gimi. They no longer believe in Sataek family.

King meets Jukduk. King said he doesn’t want to suspect that the incident of Gimi’s injury is connected to jukduk. Jukduk said that he will retire.

Uija went to see Munjin, his son and taeyeon. He ask if they heard the news about Jukduk retiring. Uija said they cant leave Jukduk’s place unfill at this time, the investigation on Jukduk will be given to Munjin. Uija ask Munjin to carefully investigate.

King meets with Bi. He tells her that the investigation must be fair and if only one person to investigate it will be tiring. He had rehire Munjin back to the palace.

While leaving with Gb, Ek and the maids, Bi fainted.

King meets Munjin. King ask munjin to investigate carefully and its an opportunity to get rid of sataek family.

Uija meets Munjin. Munjin tells Uija that he suggest they take down queen as well. He said that the King will also help them and it’s a good opportunity. Uija said he knows that but its to rushing. Munjin said he has waited for this for a long time.

Uija went to the village and meet SC, HS, Ek and GB. He tells them about taking down queen and ask for their opinion. EK agrees and said it a good opportunity. Uija still doubts and said he senses something not right. He ask GB about his opinion.

Bi gain consciousness but she pretend to be asleep. Kwiun came to see Bi. Gb doesn’t let him in but kyoki tells Gb to let him in. Inside, kyoki tells kwiun that from now onwards he will be his master. Kwiun replied that once my master always my master (saying that Bi will always be his master).

Kwiun left and Gb followed him. He found out about wuija’s headquarters. He reports to Uija and EK. They decide to attack wuija organization.

Ek ask yimja whether he can provide poison to poison few hundreds of ppl. Yimja prepare poison boms.

GB tells SC that they need the Pows help to attack wuija organization.

Moogeun gives back kyoki the money, saying that he cant do it. They ask of he is from the royal palace. Blah blah blah, kyoki admit that he is prince kyoki. Moogeun ask if he knows wuija organization and said if he provide information for him he will kill whatever person he wants. Kyoki thinking about kwiun not obeying him, agrees.

Munjin said there are evidence on Jukduk’s corruption. Jukduk still claims innocent.

Munjin meets king. Politics and strategy to finish sataek family. They need to take control over the city and palace but they need the help of two ministers. Munjin said his son is discussing with them.

GB and Pows attack Wuija headquarters poisoning them with poison gas. Moogeun, dokgae, daesoo, yoonsu and gang came a bit later and saw that wuija had oredi been attack.

Moogeun saw namjoo when he is fighting GB and remembers that he is the one that killed his mom. He went and help GB fight namjoo. Kwiun seeing namjoo in trouble fights with Moogeun. MG is no match for Kwiun as well as GB so they work together to fight with kwiun. Kwiun got injured. One of the assassins(I think its yoochuns brother) and namjoo came and help kwiun. The assassin died and Namjoo bring kwiun to escape.

Fight over. GB thank moogeun. Moogeun said that he stole his prey. Gb said that is not very nice to hear. Both of them clashing their swords(how do u describe it)

BTW -- I got confused about who "Bi" was and I just realized that you were referring to Satek Bi.

Satek is her family name, but Bi is not her first name. Bi means she's the consort of the emperor. So Satek Bi means Empress Satek.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

SPOILER Ep16 (short 1 since i dont really have time, skip alot of stuff)

Son negotiating with the 2 ministers that they need help from. One of them disagrees and he lock him up.

Uija, EK, HS, SC meeting in village. HS said that how would they know if son munjin's family wont be a second sataek family. Uija said he wont let that happen...Uija went outside. He told eunko if tomorrow the plan fails, u need to live. Leave baekjae with GB and live on. Ek said didnt they say that they are one life, dead or alive I'll be with u (girl ppl might misunderstand this...haha). She ask why is he saying things like this before the big event. Uija said because he doesnt want to loose her(confession???).

GB remembers what SC said about Bi being sly and probably having motives. He went back to the palace.

King and his army set out too.

Bi, Jukduk and Gimi meeting. Gimi never betrayed Sataek family. It was a trap set by them. GB overheard their conversation and manage to inform Uija and Eunko not to enter the palace. However, GB is too late to inform Munjin and the other 2 ministers and they already when in the palace. He quickly go to munjin's house and bring taeyeon away.

Munjin, his son and the 2 ministers are capture. Bi ask them if UIja is involved but Munjin said it is him who wants to be king. They got the scroll with names of the ppl involve in this matter in Munjin's house. Bi look at it but Uija's name is not in it.

Bi ordered GB to kill Munjin. GB tells munjin that his daughter is safe and they will always remember him and ask him to go in peace, he then kill him.

GB tells SC and HS he wants to train the Pows to fight. they are currently around 200 of them.

Bi tells king that they should kill Son taeyeon as well. King protest that its enough that munjin and his son die and she is already Uija;s wife. Bi said that if Uija doesnt hand Taeyeon over than he is also a criminal.

King tells Uija to hand over taeyeon or else he will die. Uija said he is not like his father who can sacrifice his wife just for the throne.

Uija meets SC, GB and HS and ask them what is he going to do.

UIja gave a letter to king. King ask if he is for real. Uija said now baekjae has only one prince, that is Kyoki. Bi take a look at the letter. Uija ask Bi if taeyeon is allowed to live now.

Uija and Taeyeon went to the temple. They are going to be monks.

GB, SC, HS came to meet Uija while he was walking in the woods with taeyeon. UIja said that he doesnt fit to be king. SC, GB and HS told Uija that they are actually just testing him. If he really hand taeyeon over than they wont be helping him to be king. They told him that he have what it takes to be a king, GB said Uija didnt leave th pows. He said like moojin, he will protect Uija.

Uija, Sungchung, Heungsoo, and Gyebaek become sworn brothers.

Grandma brings EK to meet cheondanhiang. CDH said the 3 stars that are going to bring baekjae up have gathered. She said when the 1st star shines, teh army won be able to cross the river? dont know what she said about the 2nd star. 3rd star shines, no one is able to harm baekjae.

Taeyeon tells UIja that she is pregnant. Taeyeon is afraid that Bi would kill their baby if she finds out.

UIja praying. Asking his mother to protect his child, afraid that the baby would suffer the same fate as him.

Time goes by, taeyeon tummmy geting bigger. Villagers learning to fight. At first they are bad at it and they keep improving. Gb and Ek still serving Bi.

GB looks at the teen girl name ga yi (the one who safe him when he was injured on his way to the village). He ask HS if she was originally mute. HS said her parents died in a war 3 years ago and she was carrying her little brother. Her brother was found dead too. She cried for 3 months and didnt speak from then onwards.

Yimja bring some goods for the temple. Uija ask yimja to help bring him seeweed(actually for taeyeon to give birth).

Kwiun meets Bi. She ask whether they found the person who attack wuija headquarters. kwiun said they haven. She ask if there is a traitor in wuija. kwiun said there is no one suspicious.

Moogeun angry with dokgae coz his plan to call them to pretend as wuija assassins to lure wuija gang out fail. He said if they dont turn up, he will get rid of him.

Dokgae, daesoo and yoonsu pretend as wuija assassins and attack someone. GB turns up and beat them up. He ask if he is associate with wuija. Dokgae said no. GB ask whats with the wuija tatoo on his arm. Dokgae wipes it off and said its fake.

Bi on the other hand tells Eunki that she will be going to the temple herself for the dono what day/event. She wants to see if Uija is really a monk there.

Taeyeon giving birth. Uija waiting outside. The monks tell him about Bi coming. He went to greet her with the others.

i think the next ep will be showing them deceiving kyoki...making him betray his own mother. Juz based on the preview...

probably uija will be king in around ep25 like that before he have to deal with silla and tang army. Wondering whether taeyeon will die. Didnt they said Ek will be queen?
