[NEWS]YG Entertainment and Big Bang rank high on "Korea Pop Music Power Top 100"

The president of SME, Lee Soo Man, together with the presidents of JYP and YGE, Park Jin Young and Yang Hyun Seok captured Top 3 spots on ‘Korea Pop Music Power Top 100’.

The Culture Planning Group collaborated with a publishing company to publish the 2nd issue of ‘Pop Music SOUND’ magazine which features a survey result of 'Korea Pop Music Power Top 100’.

In 2007, the group has published a survey entitled, ‘Top 100 albums in Korea’. The list was made together with the press and music industry professionals. The celebrities listed in ‘Korea Pop Music Power Top 100’ was chosen based on poll, together with representatives from different institutions and media.

There were a total of 86 experts involved in the selection process and they were from different fields such as music critics, journalists, TV programme reporters, musicians, songs producers, and others.

The music industry is dominated by giant entertainment companies

The Top 3 spots of the chart are claimed by the presidents of the three entertainment companies. A staff said, “Lee Soo Man, Park Jin Young and Yang Hyun Seok’ are making the mainstream pop music for contemporary South Korea.”

He further elaborated, “In mid 90’s, there was a need for the entertainment companies who can connect the music industry with the broadcasting companies. The pop music of nowadays is well received because the presidents of these entertainment companies have come to term in collaborating with broadcasting stations.”

Singers Seo Taiji, Sin Joong Hyun and Jo Yong Pil captured the 5th, 7th and 8th spots.

In the survey, Seo Taiji is ranked 5th, when Shin Joong Hyun and Jo Yong Pil rank 7th and 8th. Regarding the ranking of idols, SNSD captured the 14th spot, followed by BIGBANG at 28th spot. Below them are DBSK (70th), 2NE1 (80th), BOA (92nd) just to name a few.

from what i get from it, it looks like Cho PD is recognizing the fact that among idols these days, GD and BIGBANG are considered to have "musician skills" with GD producing their albums.

He's just hyping up his new group saying they, too, are composed of members who are songwriters and can write their own songs.

no disrespect to his upcoming group, im sure they're talented, but i find it amusing (and a bit hyproritical) that BB's name and even YG's keep coming up on his articles about his new group (they can write their own stuff like BB, he observed and learned at how YG did with BB etc) after he dissed not only GD, but BIGBANG, a couple of times before.

he did say that he's a "bigger bang than bigbang" etc so im sure he doesnt need them and his group is talented enough to get their names out. stop name-dropping BIGBANG and just focus on the group itself. they seem talented so i'll probably check them out but i never really liked Cho PD after dissing the boys so much. that's me being a fanmom. lol

Cho PD exclaimed, “Idol singers like Big Bang possess the ability of being musicians.” Rarely do idol group these days possess members that produce their own music like Big Bang does.

Hi All!!,

So I'm new here and I've been a fan of BIGBANG since 06 and had another account on here since 07. Been a lurker and never really used my other soompi aact. or i forgot my password. hehe. I got my BIGBANG Mini 4 album a week after it's release and have no idea what to do with the BIGBAng Card with it. Can anybody help? Thanks :D

Pffft! I once dedicated an entire post [my blog] for Cho PD and Maslo and that's more than enough. IDGAF anymore what he says, it's not like his words matter [to me at least] anyway.

From the CHIC thing: 11) There was a fan who thought that the car parked outside the building was empty so she looked at herself in the car window because she wanted to check if she has something between her teeth. After a while, T.O.P and GD got off the car laughing.

LOLing so hard at this! hahahaha! Man - if this really happened, I'D WANT THE GROUND TO SWALLOW ME WHOLE! XD

Sigh I don't know if Cho PD is sincere or not.

On one side I think maybe he HAS grown out of his foolish ways and come to see the light known as Big Bang.

On the other hand why is he coming out with this NOW when we all know hes going to debut a rookie group? hmmm seems a little bit suspicious. Maybe he's just ONLY saying this so ppl won't hold any animosity towards his rookies.

Though for the sake of moving on. I'm going to assume its the first because we ALL need to let go of these past grudges. We can't just ask him to let it go and then hold a grudge ourselves...
