Chinese actress Tang Wei yesterday announced that she will marry Korean director Kim Tae-yong, according to local reports.
“The two worked together on the movie ‘Late Autumn’ and maintained a friendly relationship even after the film ended,” said the director’s agency, Bom Film Production.
“In October 2013 when Tang Wei visited Korea to shoot a commercial, they turned their relationship into a romantic one. Afterward, they traveled between Korea and China until recently when they decided to get married.”
The exact date of the marriage hasn’t been decided, but Bom told Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, that it will take place sometime in the fall.
It also added that the exact whereabouts of director Kim is unknown but that he is currently abroad.
In 2012, the soon-to-be-married couple was rumored to be dating, but Kim dismissed the rumor by saying that they are in no more than just a “actress and director relationship.”

China's Tang Wei to Marry Korean Director
Source: The ChosunIlbo
Chinese actress Tang Wei and Korean filmmaker Kim Tae-yong will tie the knot this fall. They worked together in "Late Autumn" (2010).
Kim's agency Bom Film Productions on Wednesday said they will get married this fall in a private ceremony with family and close friends.
They first met while shooting the film and their relationship developed when Tang came to Korea for a commercial shoot in October 2013, and they visited each other in China and Korea over the past months.
"We decided to get married despite the difficult hurdle of having to learn each other's language. But difficult moments will also be our happiest moments," read a statement issued by Kim and Tang.
It will be Kim's second marriage and Tang's first.

Tang made her debut in 2004 and became a global star in "Lust, Caution" (2007) directed by Ang Lee. The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
But despite the film's success, Tang had to suffer a media ban imposed by the Chinese government for three years, as the Chinese government felt the film romanticized the pro-Japanese figures during the Japanese occupation and was too sexually explicit.
It was in "Late Autumn" directed by Kim that Tang made her first appearance after the ban.
Since then, Tang has appeared in commercials in Korea, and became the first non-Korean host of the opening ceremony of the Busan International Film Festival in October 2012.
Rumors surrounding their relationship surfaced when it was revealed that Tang bought land in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, near to Kim's home, in November that year and visited Korea many times. At the time, the two denied the rumors and said that they were just good friends.

He received critical acclaim for "Late Autumn," a remake of Lee Man-hee's "Manchu" (1966), which was invited to the forum section of the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.

The world of East Asian cinema has been rocked by the news that Chinese actress Tang Wei is set to marry Korean director Kim Tae Yong later this year. The couple is expected to settle in Korea, after details emerged that they have purchased land in the city of Bundang, near Seoul.

The two met on the set of the movie “Late Autumn,” directed by Kim Tae Yong and starring Tang Wei. The actress won fame for her role in the 2009 film, “Lust, Caution.” Rumors had circulated ever since regarding the pair’s possible romantic involvement, although both parties had denied the claim.
The wedding is set to take place in Korea before the release of Tang Wei’s upcoming movie, “The Golden Era,” which will begin screening in China in October this year. The couple plans to finalize their wedding before the actress begins promotion for the new movie.
Tang Wei is well-known in Korea, where she has previously hosted the opening ceremony of the prestigious Busan International Film Festival, and speculation is rife that moving to her husband’s country may mean that she could appear in Korean movies in the future.
A spokesperson from her agency told the media, “If Tang Wei gets a good offer to star in a Korean film, she will certainly consider taking it.”

KIM Tae-yong and TANG Wei to Tie the KnotKorean Indie Director and Chinese Star Plan Wedding
by Pierce Conran KOBIZ

zRTrFGdRCDyCKPkbEgAj.jpg
In an official press release, indie film director KIM Tae-yong has announced that he and Chinese star TANG Wei will become husband and wife later this year. The pair met during the shoot of KIM’s 2010 film Late Autumn, which was shot in the American Northwest. Rumors initially surfaced that TANG was dating her co-star HYUN Bin, but those were quashed when KIM and TANG were seen together at the Busan International Film Festival in 2012. Following his 1999 debut Memento Mori, co-directed with MIN Kyu-dong, KIM has made a name for himself in Korean independent cinema by directing the multi-strand drama Family Ties (2006) and Late Autumn, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, becoming one of the country’s most critically-acclaimed filmmakers in the process. KIM has also directed many shorts, including Picnic, the concluding segment of Mad Sad Bad, the 3D omnibus that opened this year’s Jeonju International Film Festival. TANG quickly rose to fame in 2007 when she was cast in Ang LEE’s steamy period drama Lust, Caution, alongside Tony LEUNG Chiu-wai. The erotic nature of her role raised some controversy in her native China, but she weathered criticisms to become one of the country’s leading actresses, most recently toping the charts in the successful romcom Finding Mr. Right. The couple, who are working hard to learn each other’s languages, will tie the knot this autumn.
