Super Junior, Rain, Big Bang, & 2PM Appear in Thai Textbooks

It turned out that CN Blue wasn’t the only one to appear in a Thai textbook! Along with the popular band, Super Junior, Rain, Big Bang, and 2PM were also mentioned in music textbook in Thailand.

Published in a third year high school music text book, Super Junior’s picture was included inside, as well as the tidbit, ‘Singers who held the most popular concert in Thailand.’

Super Junior had visited Bangkok in March to hold its concert tour, Super Show 4, which set a record for the most audience members for a foreign artist.

In the second year high school music text book, Rain was introduced as ‘A very influential artist to society,’ referring to Rain winning in Time magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People’ polls many times.

Also mentioned in Thai textbooks were 2PM’s Nichkhun, who was introduced as the Korean artist who shared a new genre of music to Thailand. Big Bang was shown in a middle school text book as Asia’s trademark artist.

With more and more K-pop stars appearing in textbooks abroad, it seems to be a confirmation that the popularity of K-Pop is still spreading throughout the world.

bbly, do you think RAIN really enjoys inside the Camp base now? When you see him smiles in the pictures that you view here, in those videos you watch, those jokes he gave to KCM when hosting, do you think what we see is what we really get? Military service, mandatory or otherwise, is an experience shared by most men in South Korea. Some look back on their time in the military with fondness, while others would rather erase those years from their memory altogether. I think RAIN is close to the latter when he gets out – hehehe. :ar!

Good question! He seems to enjoy his time after all as his smile or laugh seem sincere. But I could be wrong. I am curious about all the stories he has to tell us once he is out.

Rain wins appeal against tenant

Singer Rain seems to be a winner, even when he is away fulfilling his compulsory military service. On May 31, Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of the Hallyu singer for the second time against his tenant, a local designer who had not been paying any rent and failed to move out of Rain’s building after the lease had run out.

“We maintain our ruling from the first trial that the tenant should take the money deducted from his 100 million won ($84,700) deposit and leave the premises,” the court said, ordering the tenant to vacate the premise that he has been using as a gallery.

According to the court, the singer and the designer entered into a contract back in August of 2009 with a deposit of 100 million won and 4 million won rent as well as an additional 400,000 won in maintenance fees per month.

The contract was valid until March 2011 and although the designer used this space as a gallery, he failed to pay maintenance fees from December 2009 and then stopped paying rent altogether from September 2010.

Rain brought a suit against the designer back in January to kick him out but the designer said that because of leakage in the building, he was owed money from damages and failed to vacate the building. He felt that he was the victim and appealed for the case against Rain.

My niece Gheeric Rose (Ga) and I were already in Seoul for our annual vacation, when we learned that Rain would participate in the patriotic concert in Yong in, Gyeonggi-do.

(May 30) Wednesday being our fifth day, we decided not to follow our itinerary for the day, and decided to proceed to Yongin, Gyeonggido at around 11:30 am. Unaware of the exact location of the concert, we merely depended on the map we were holding, given by the goodhearted manager of the hotel we were staying at.

So we arrived in Yongin City proper, around 2 pm (KST). Since it was already lunch time, we’d had our lunch (simple-light lunch) first at Tours Les Jours, in front of Myeongji University, the supposed route of the shuttle service to the actual venue of the concert.

We stayed there until 5 pm, only to be disappointed because we missed the shuttle service provided by the 3rd Field Army Headquarters. I was getting upset already since the patriotic concert would start at 7 pm, and we barely had 1 hour to go there and locate the place.

My niece, determined as she is, called a taxi cab and showed the poster to the driver-ahjussi. Luckily the driver knew the exact place and took us there. In 15 minutes, we found the venue.

People – soldiers, family, friends, and civilians like us or maybe fans, were already gathered when we arrived. We were seated at the 6th row, a place which was not too far, and not too close to the stage. Looking around, we saw Rain’s dancers walking around the area. To make the long story short, the program started. There were performers such as Davichi, Hello Venus, KCM and Min Kyunghoon, to name a few. Their numbers were all warmly applauded by the audience.

Towards the closing, and I should say the highlight of the show, Rain appeared with his 4 dancers, wearing a gray jacket, a brown hat, glasses, and a blue maong pants which made him the cutest and the hottest performer that night. He was the most applauded and warmly welcomed performer that night. To me, he was a sight to behold, I was speechless for a while, and I don’t know what happened that I suddenly found myself in front of the line, I must have crawled in front of the line without me knowing, when it was Rain’s turn to perform. I kept on shouting his name... RAIN! RAIN! RAIN! together with others.

When it was the performers’ turn to bow down to the audience as the show ended, we kept on shouting Rain’s name again, which caught the attention of the officer, standing in front of Rain on the stage. The officer pointed us out to Rain, and in turn, Rain waved his hands and smiled at us. That was so lovely and sweet of him. That time I was standing in front of the line, and very close to the stage, where Rain was standing.

Rain, as usual, looking so great, brought the house down with his two song numbers, “Hip Song and It’s Raining”. Even though it was just two songs... I could feel his passion for his music, and his performance was outstanding... I was star-struck again. He’s so gorgeous, so tall, his physique is well-built, he was so bubbly that night and so full of confidence that I could only say to myself - This guy’s indeed born to be a STAR. With his presence, he lit up the whole night as if the BRIGHTEST STAR was shining on us. I considered myself very lucky, having seen him again in person after two years. It was indeed a blessing that I will always cherish. It was an answered prayer.

In my mind and in my heart, there will always be one person, nearest and dearest to my heart whom I shall love forever until the day I die… RAIN.
