[Oct-28-2009] Ninja Assassin selected as the movie that the world' movie-goers want to see the most.

Rain's hollywood leading movie Ninja Assassin took the first ranking as the movie that the world's movie-goers want to see the most.

In a poll of the world's movie-goers conducted by ( http://www.comingsoon.net/ ), a website specializing in movies in America, 28.4% of 9,745 respondents said that they want to see Ninja Assassin the most. It is worthy of notice in that Ninja Assassin surpassed it's rival movies such as '2012', New Mon, etc. after competing with 16 movies.

Ninja Assassin was selected as one of 50 and 10 much-anticipated films, by UK's The Times and San Francisco's Examiner newspaper each, in addition, it was given a highly favorable response, being released for the first time at Comic Con America's San Francisco.

Also, there has early been a high state of expectancy in the movie-goers because Ninja Assassin is the decade-long film of the Wachowski brothers and Joel Silver, world renowned director and producer, and Korea's Rain stared in the movie.

Ninja Assassin will be released on November 26th.

@NA preview for JYP: Rain is really amazing. I can't say that I really love JYP but I am grateful to him for giving Rain back then the chance that nobody did. Rain is so gracious and he is always grateful to JYP. But I wonder for how long they will refer to Rain as the "student". Ok, JYP taught him things, but Rain had raw talent, determination, discipline, skill .... this can't be taught, you have it or not.

@NA most anticipated movie: this makes me just proud!!!! I really can't imagine the world-wide response to this movie and to Rain once the movie is out. We will experience history!

@Jakarta concert: what a surprise! Here comes the next concert and just right after the HK concert. I am afraid it will be very tiring. I hope that Rain doesn't squeeze now all the Asian concerts into one month. I want him to take care of himself.

@CNN interview: I still need to watch it. I can't wait!!!!

Hi mimi, thanks for sharing the complete part of this video clip. The show is wonderful though RAIN didn't answer & speak English but he could understand it very well without any interpreter beside him this time. I thought all the while that there were many chosen questions from fans but there were only 2, which were asked to him. Overall, RAIN has still that confidence, so relaxed talking during that interview. :P:lol:

Rain–who just left Hong Kong a few days before–came to the city again and attended a launching event for a watch brand (IWC Schaffhausen) today.

It is unknown whether this is frequent, but Rain arrived at the event accompanied by 7 or 8 staff members (bodyguards), and as soon as fans saw him they were screaming for him.

At the ribbon cutting ceremony Rain and Zinedine Zidane (famous French soccer player and heart throb) became the focal point of the entire audience.

However, both of them had no exchanges or greetings with one another and had no conversations together.

Rain waved at reporters and fans at the venue.

Public relations of the event had disclosed that he would accept interviews, but 15 minutes later his manager informed that Rain needed rest due to exhaustion and would not reappear for any further visits with reporters.

28 Oct 2009 - TALK ASIA - Rain stays bright in the spotlight

(CNN) -- He's gone from being a backup dancer to the biggest thing in Asian pop culture, an actor and singer who has sold millions of albums.

The 27-year-old South Korean has even faced down U.S. comedian Steven Colbert in a spoof dance-off.

The comedy skit came about after Rain placed higher than him in Time Magazine's 2008 online poll of the 100 Most Influential People.

As well as a sense of humor and dance moves that shook Colbert out of his satirical posture to praise, Rain is also known as one of the hardest working men in the entertainment business.

Rain, real name Jung Ji-hoon, broke into the notoriously tough world of South Korean show business with JYP Entertainment when he was just 18-years-old.

He made his first mark in Hollywood last year with a role in "Speed Racer" appearing alongside Christina Ricci and Matthew Fox.

[Oct-29-2009] Rain meets with his fans all over the world through CNN.

Singer and actor Rain met with his fans all over the world through 'Talk Asia' program of CNN, America's largest cable TV specializing in news, aired on October 28th at 9:30pm.

Rain talked to CNN's major anchor woman 'Anna Coren', about his impression on Ninja Assassin ahead of its release, his childhood, the stories related to his family, and his secret to success as a world star.

Rain expressed his childhood, "I was myself such a child who worshiped Michael Jackson and liked dancing." continuing, "I didn't meet the expectancy of my deceased mother, so I much regret what I had done to her."

Also, "I was raised in easy circumstances until when I was 10, but from then until the time that I was 20, my family lived in abject poverty, in particular, I was in the most difficult situation when my mother passed away."

He said, " I appeared in drama 'Full House', that seemed to pave the way for my success."

When 'Anna Coren' asked if he has any friends, he answered, "I have no girl friend now, but I might get one sooner or later."

He said regarding his debut as a singer, "I was very introverted when I was a young boy, but there was the change of my character while I was dancing." and "I attended 12 auditions, but I faced frequent rejections because of my appearance, however, there had been many changes after I met JYP."

"In addition, I was able to grab at several chances to appear in the hollywood movies after I was selected as one of the most influential 100 people by Time Magazine."

And she asked, "Which do you like better, singer or actor?", he answered, "The answer for you seems to be "Who do you like better, father or mother?" "I think it is more important to do my best."

Also, Rain said about the expectancy and the difficulty he encountered during shooting Ninja Assassin which will be released on November 26th.

Rain with Zidane in Hong Kong

20091028_rain_572.jpg

Earlier today, superstar Rain / Bi arrived in Hong Kong to attend the grand opening of an IWC Schaffhausen flagship store at the 1881 Heritage Boutique. IWC Schaffhausen (International Watch Co.) is a famous high-end Swiss watch manufacturer and Rain was personally invited for this grand opening.

Another famous star, Zinedine Zidane (famous French soccer star via Algeria) was also in attendance for the opening. Zidane cut the ribbon for the grand opening, drank champagne, and mingled with Rain and the other invited guests.

This isn't the first time Rain hung out with soccer stars. If you can recall, Rain was playing soccer / football with the players of Manchester United back in July. Rain better get used to all the mingling and premiere events because he has to go on a promotion tour for his upcoming movie Ninja Assassin very soon.

Rain Talks Hallyu, Song, and Movie

091029_am_rain(1).jpg

By Cho Jae-hyon

Staff Reporter

Singer and actor Rain, one of the top Korean wave or hallyu stars, said the term "Korean wave" would be better not used as it is too self-centered and could cause anti-hallyu sentiment among Asian fans.

Asked about the reason behind its recent waning on CNN's Talk Asia interview program, Rain said, "The biggest problem is the term Korean wave. It doesn't sound right. It's a bit too self-centered."

Rain said it shouldn't just be about exporting Korea's own culture but about using each other's cultures and exchanging ideas.

"I think the word hallyu can actually create anti-hallyu sentiment because it sounds so unilateral, which could be why some of the dramas and other things are losing popularity compared to before."

He also said a lot of people have jumped in for the money, and introduced works with low quality, causing a loss of face to some extent.

Asked about the strong points about Korean pop culture, he said that's because there is a lot of talent compared to other countries.

"The ingredients, as I like to call it, are good. A lot of very skilled writers, directors and singers have been around for a long time," he said. "With Internet, it's now possible to access all of this content within a matter of seconds, which is why compared to before things have spread quickly and become popular among the public."

On questions about how does it feel becoming the biggest pop sensation in Asia, he said, "There are times when I wonder: 'Is this a dream?' 'Or is this real?'I don't know how long it will last, but I guess the most important part is to keep on doing my best and maintaining what I have done so far."

He said trying my best is what's most important. "You also need to have one thing that you are better at than everyone else, which means you need to be irreplaceable."

Rain said that since childhood, Michael Jackson was his idol. "I followed his moves and dances every day as a child. So as a child, I guess I spent a lot more time dancing than with my books," he said.

Asked about the memories with his mother who was dead when he was 18 years old, he said, "Of course, I do have a lot of regrets. There were times when I think I didn't do well enough for her. But, as I said, my mother was the greatest motivation for me to try to do my best."

He said he is still working hard because of the guilt he feels about her mother.

"That guilt, a lot of it, I think comes from the time seeing my mother in bed 10 days before she died. I asked myself, 'Is the pain I am going through greater than what she is experiencing?'Whatever it is, the pain will never be greater than the physical pain she went through. So no matter what happens I have to give it my best; this is what I thought."

He said what motivates him is his nature to hate losing. "The more criticism I get the more it gives me a stronger urge to win. So I tried harder. The more time I was turned down, the more I believe I was getting closer to making it."

Rain said his ultimate goal is to crack the American market and is making efforts to gain recognition bit by bit.

"I think it's finally slowly happening. All the hard work that went into the Hollywood film (Ninja Assassin) which is about to premier is a starting point. I think I will be doing a lot of other pieces and songs in the future. So I'm very happy that I'm slowly making progress and realizing my dream."

Rain said he put his heart and soul into the movie, which will be premiered around the world next month. "There are a lot of action sequences that I think take things to a different level from other moves like 'The Matrix' and 'Kill Bill.'"

He said he also sees the possibility of penetrating the American music market in the future.

"In the past, America was the hub of culture. Things are now changing a bit," he said.

"The music in American has all been of the same kind, but I think we need to combine music, from India, a bit from Asia, a bit from Europe altogether to create a new genre. I think the center of the market may slowly be shifting to Asia."

He said he is preparing his English album. "I'm looking for the best timing to do that but I'm not sure exactly when that will be. Because it will be successful only if I'm fully prepared."

Asked how he has been able to be free from scandals, the 27-year-old said, "I grew up poor and lived in a poor environment. In the past, I made a promise to my family that I wouldn't get distracted by anything. That's why I was able to focus on what I was doing without any scandal or rumors going around."

Asked whether he has girlfriends, he said, "I don't have a girlfriend. But I would like to meet someone. I don't know; maybe I might meet someone soon."

2009102915113150237_1.jpg

A scene from Rain's sample demo of the choreography for MBLAQ's "Oh Yeah" [Gom TV]

A video of Rain giving a demonstration of the choreography for his self-created boy band MBLAQ's debut single heated up the web on Thursday.

The clip, posted up on video portal Gom TV by his agency J.Tune Entertainment early in the day, received over 5,000 hits by mid-day.

Rain displayed his powerful dance moves in the video he himself introduced as the "first tentative choreography for MBLAQ's 'Oh Yeah'" at the beginning of the clip.

The five-member boy band, created and trained by Asian superstar Rain for two years, is the first group that Rain introduced to the public since turning producer.

The group has been popular since their debut two weeks ago, topping singles charts and landing TV commercials.

Rain's dance demo can be seen at http://ch.gomtv.com/200/16422/325371/1
