He also said that real life marries couples should not behave the way in drama ‘World of Married’ haha

That is so comforting to hear (esp for his wife). Despite being in the entertainment industry for many long years, he didn't lose his head. Thumbs up!!

For me - I hated the way the character was written. A traffic cop who goes alone to a hospital to arrest a surgeon? I still can't get over that. I really did not mind her acting, not even her "you can cry now" scene. But the overall character - very much so. She indeed got better in the second half of the show, though

Yes, when I saw this scene, I thought to myself, what were the writers thinking? Is it even allowed in SK that a traffic cop goes to arrest a surgeon & without a WOA. And she acted alone. I'm no cop but even I know that they don't act alone, they act in a pair at least. So this bothered me when I watched it. Her acting bothered me too :( initially.

Ugh! Don't remind me of the "you can cry now" scene! It could have been such a great scene, and JH was perfect in it, but she was so awful! She didn't even try to make the crying look real... But you are right- I really don't understand why they had to make her a traffic cop. That was so silly. All they needed to do was make her a rookie detective, that's it, and her character could have been so much more plausible.

The scene when they both were at the staircase or floor right? Yucks! Her inability to cry was really I'm speechless. I can just imagine being JH, bts  JH would have tried to help her get into the mood but alas, the scene came out wrong, she was awful. Yes you're right, had they made her a rookie detective, it would have been more acceptable that this rookie detective is anxious to nab the suspect & acts without her superior orders. But a traffic cop....!!

So you guys don't live in a place with high humidity? If I would dress like that in the summer, I'd be dripping sweat within 5 minutes...

Fyi - It's mid autumn now in SK, known as chuseok. People in SK don't eat mooncake, the koreans eat songpyeon. It's a korean traditional food made of rice powder.

The chinese eat mooncake during mid autumn festival. It's a traditionally chinese bakery. Traditionally it's made of red bean or lotus seed paste & salted duck eggs but in recent years, all sorts of flavours have emerged.

And children will carry lanterns. Mid autumn festival symbolise family reunion.

With the girl it worked- people really disliked her in the first episodes, while with LY it didn't work, because of JH.

Actually I did ponder over this. Did people dislike the character of JS (PSD) in the 1st episodes of  BM or did people dislike the way she acted it out? Had it been another actress, would it have been better accepted? IDK. No one disliked LYO though despite his odd behaviour. Even his refusal at the plane to help with an emergency, I still couldn't dislike him. Bias me!

Any hair stylist here? Hahaha! I think don't need to shave bald. There's a wig to wear & it depends on the makeup/hairstylist to colour the bald part with makeup so that it matches the facial skin colour. Is it??

I know in the earlier days when makeup weren't so advanced, you could actually see the wig line that's why I knew the actor didn't shave bald.

@budgerie Most kdramas are done like that, Midas was particularly challenging, with the actors having to use post its on each other foreheads with their lines written on them.

Goodness! Is that the reason why his acting was somehow off in Midas? IDK how to explain, is it the plot or is it the acting? Somehow his acting wasn't there.

Actually is true. How to act when even the artistes themselves is confused what the character is supposed to be. Thankfully MF was a success because it was also written like on the spot, right?

So I really do not understand those "haters" - they were hating Wang So acting as So So??? I thought it was funny, him trying to hide his true character, and doing it so well that no-one recognized him as a prince.

Haters are gonna hate, come what may, say what you like. Good or bad, they're gonna hate. Have people forgotten to "agree to disagree"? Yes, they have their idol, we have ours. They can love their idol, we can love our idol too. Don't have to hate each other idol...

I personally think his acting is most impressive in MF, and MF is not a drama I would rewatch. Sorry hyukie, I'm a die hard fan of melo and Romcom haha. And how did I end up being a fan of JH's when he hasn't done so much melo and romcom! Haha

If I have to pick just 1 drama, I would pick MF instead of Chuno. :glasses:

Ok, it's a personal preference, I like serious stuff. I don't like those giggling & act cute scenes. I'm fine with romance, adult romance, as long as don't act cute.

I like to think that JH is more concerned about the quality of writing rather than genre. I imagine he would accept a good romcom if the story is right. Still, do you remember when we discussed that actors get only the script for a few initial eps and as often as not the dramas are written "on the go"? So a few good initial episodes do not guarantee overall good show (Tell Me What You Saw!). I recently concluded this must be deliberate - why waste resources on quality writing for the entire drama, when what you care for is ratings rather than a good consistent story. If the last episodes are bad/silly/inconsistent/messy , who cares? The audience have already seen the majority of the show and contributed to the ratings and cannot "unview" the show if the last eps are bad. So why waste effort?

You have a point. Initially I'm surprised that k

artistes only get afew episodes to film first. So unlike C drama where the artistes have the whole script already for them to study it.

@budgerie I still want to believe that he is not avoiding romance :P I’m in denial of this until he says it explicitly. He did SOGC after FTLY and that was very romance focused, right?

I'm just guessing else why would he avoid rom-com? If at first he wanted to reject BPP because he thought it was rom-com.

Honestly, even if JH isn't married, I didn't think he had that great chemistry with the FL of SOGC, I won't ship them. But yes, he did SOGC, but the intense of the shipping (by crazy fans) wasn't as bad as the ones in FTLY.

IMO, I didn't think SOGC is romance focused. I think JH did it because it was more a drama about WS life, his past, his present (to take the throne) the romance just come in handy to spice up the drama. My guess. :D

@budgerie But I never heard about sea sickness AFTER getting of the boat... I know there is a phenomenon some call Rubber legs, in which you body still thinks its on the ship so you get unstable. How long did that feeling last?

It's called "disembarkation sickness" but there's a medical term for it. I didn't feel rubber legs but I was giddy + when I walk (on land), sometimes, I can swing to 1 side like as though the ship hit a rough wave like that. It lasted for days, I had to see the doc for medication because I thought something wrong with me but in the end I didn't eat the med. I just let it "run its course".

1 hour ago, Biology Lesson said:

As to the shipping, seeing the BTS of FTLY, I think I can't really blame some of the fans for that, especially those that don't know JH. But knowing him and how he usually maintains a polite distance from his female co-stars, I must say at times I was wondering what on earth made him behave like that. My theory is that due to his experience of working with her before, he went out of his way to make JNR as comfortable as possible, so that this time around she'd be able to do those intimate scenes in FTLY. And it worked!

I can't remember if I saw the interview in chinese or in english, that when they filmed SSBG, they didn't have time to interact. It was work work work. Both were young so they also don't know how to break the ice. So this time round, he wanted to be more friendly with her which will also help in their filming as lovers.

But if he's deliberately avoiding rom-com, I can only guess perhaps it was the over shipping that made him (and her) uncomfortable, not to mention his wife too. We expect her to be "okay" with the shipping but in real, who knows, she might not be okay with the over shipping...my guess.

Actually if watching corpse is not a taboo for you, I recommend Departures. It's an old movie, but it's touching/meaningful IMO. The movie also won 10 out of 13 nominations. Btw, the corpse doesn't look corpse, it was nicely done.

The plot : ML originally was a musician but he lost his job when the band disbanded. He had to look for another job & saw an advertisement for "assisting departures" which he thought was tour agency. He was offered lots of cash for the job so he accepted it but he didn't tell his wife about what the "departures" meant. When she found out, she left him briefly. But 1 day she saw how he did his work, so professional with pride & dignity, she returned to him.

Frankly, 1 day when it's my turn, I want someone to handle me with care too.

Well, we know that JH doesn't like it and that he's uncomfortable even doing kiss scenes. I know that there are several married christian actor that refuse to do sex scenes alltogether. For instance, Jim Caviezel asked that Jennifer Lopez keep her top and he keep his pants in their sex scene in Angel Eyes (a really nice movie by the way, and a type of role that I would love to see JH do)- not many men would request that :)

Was that the actor who acted The Passion of Christ? I haven't seen his other show except this one. You have any thing good to recommend?

Male photographers who have to shoot models scantily dressed or male gynae or those who have to film nude programmes, do these guys really feel no "feeling" at all? Once I even asked a friend (now a retired gynae) how was his 1st time seeing a woman patient....

So this movie has building sexual tension, what I always complain that K dramas lack. :)

I usually don't like movies that focus on sex. As you said, they tend to get clinical and a turn off. I like movies in which the sex scene comes after there was time for sexual tension and attraction to build, which makes the sex scene more emotional and hot. :) And they don't have to have explicit nudity in them, though I don't mind it when it's tastefully done. During the 80s, Hollywood did a lot of good movies like that like. Nowadays, not so much.

I think in this aspect, Jap movie does it better than K movie. Ya this movie caught my attention at that time (the trailer). Although not knowing the language, but it wasn't difficult to understand the movie. Hahaha!

You talking about the 1st scene Bang Won with the prostitute? Hardly can "see" anything except for hearing noises. But the ones the prostitute with the other guy (sorry forgot his screen name), was a bit too long & uninteresting.

I remembered some years back, I watched a Jap movie. It's about an artist who drew naked model (art). Usually it was just a job for him but on that particular assignment, the model kinda seduced him while he was drawing her & he had a hard time drawing. LOL. This is more exciting (for me). I may be wrong, this varies with people, but I feel that watching uncensored movie as in complete nudity, doesn't necessarily "turn people on". On the contrary, it's the half nudity ones that creates the atmosphere for more. :D

But in the case of k drama, their sex scenes somehow "turn people off" immediately. Lol.

Agree. I find that C drama are excessively using CGI in their drama. I still like the earlier days when fighting scenes are real fights. The actors/actress looked untidy & tired & ugly after fighting. These days with CGI fighting, the actors/actress still looked pretty, clean, clothes & hair still intact after fighting.
