You all know how much I loved this drama till the last episode happened. I loved it with my heart and soul. I dedicated 10 weeks of my time and heart to this drama. If I didn’t love so much, I wouldn’t be this heartbroken. But the fact that all interactions and sweet/funny moments between So Bong and Cheoljong means crap in the end... why to bother rewatching? Why to bother have your heart flutter when in the end those moments meant nothing.
This is literally the worst ending I can imagine. I made fun of this version of the ending several times before because I couldn’t imagine someone would be stupid enough to write such a BAD ending. Even if they both died it’d be a better ending.
If I didn’t love So Bong/Cheoljong so much, my tears wouldn’t be falling as I type. The fact that their romance was perfect until the last episode makes it even worse for letting go.

That's why I think it will be better if the screenwriters don't use a king and queen in the real history as the main characters at the first place. At least they can make the man in the modern time as the reincarnation of the queen.
But no matter how unsatisfied I feel with the plot and the screenwriters, I'm really happy that Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun got the chance to work together in this drama. We got addicted with this drama and keep commenting here because of their sizzling chemistry despite our frustration with some parts of the plot
Come on, screenwriters and PD, please cast them again in your next dramas!

I don't understand why is it so hard to make Bong Hwan as the future reincarnation of So Yong?
I believe many local audience won't be angry if the screenwriters dare to make it like that.

Since this drama make plot twist for Dam Hyang, Hwa Jin and her maid, I thought that they will make plot twist for Byung In too. I don't ship him with So Bong/So Yong at all and it's ridiculous when I read some comment blaming So Bong about his death. Some said that she should told him the truth that he isn't So Yong and whatnot. Sorry but unlike other main female lead that kind of giving hope to the the second male lead although she only loves main male lead, So Bong CLEARLY REJECTED BYUNG IN MULTIPLE TIMES. It isn't her fault and furthermore you can't forced love
But I'm really tired with the habit of some of the screenwriters of killing the second male lead in their dramas
Whether the second male lead has criminal record and falls in love with second female lead like Gu Seung Jun in Crash landing On You or the second male lead that loves the main female lead with all their heart and soul like Kim Yoon Sung in Love In The Moonlight. To me, that's so lame and become annoying now ughh

The title for episode 20 make feel so anxious and quite sad
So Yong love Cheol Jong but so is Bong Hwan.
He's losing his physical body, voice, and now his sexuality for Cheol Jong, how could he just normally return to modern time and act like nothing happen?
It is not hard to make this drama known as drama with the plot where a woman in the past reincarnated as a man in the future if screenwriter want.
But after focusing to "my life" I feel like the high possibility of it refer to So Yong
I also remember that there is a line get translated as "I might appear in front of you as a man" in the preview of spin-off

At first I thought that maybe they keep the "sober sweet kiss scene between royal couple after So Bong acknowledge her feeling" for the last episode.
Then I remember that before Mr Queen airing, there was a time they had to halt filming due to an extra cast has tested positive for COVID-19.
So maybe, I say maybe, we have to prepare for no mutual romantic kiss scene until the end but uh, there will a hug based on the bts pic of they hugging huhu.
Unless, they already filming a romantic reunion kiss scene for episode 19/20 before an extra cast infected by Covid-19?

I'm sad if there will really no kiss scene after their reunion in episode 19/20, but I understand that Kim Jung Hyun and Shin Hye Sun health comes first.
Since their chemistry are really sizzling, I'm really hoping they will act together again in another drama that has a good script. Doesn't matter what genre the next drama will be, thriller/comedy/romance/melodrama, based on their performances on Mr Queen, they will definitely slay their next drama together if their will be a reunion!

If So Bong has a free pass to act wildly in the palace and gave threat verbally to grand queen dowager/queen dowager/court officials/royal chef/royal physician and even the king himself (who is the high status people that still left in the palace that she still doesn't threaten yet LOL) because she is the current queen,
then Cheol Jong has a free pass to still looks hot and has a gorgeous face with only some scratches and scars that healed quickly even after he stand near an explosion and fell off a cliff because he is the current king ahaha

The writers have done a great job so far of pulling their punches while keeping the threats real. This is a comedy and I have faith in our happy ending!
Like some of you, I suspect our heroes (and some who haven't been allies) are running a con on the palace crazies.
Since the setting of this drama is mainly in the historical time, it has the usual dramatic political plot but the screenwriters really done a good job to make it different with does not have a melodramatic touch to like other dramas like Shin Hye Sun said and to make viewers smile like Kim Jung Hyun said.
Let's observe the supposedly melodramatic scenes:
1)Assassinating the king
(actually that was his own plan)
2)Poisoning the queen
(Dam Hyang saved her)
3)Executing Dam Hyang
(actually that was alcohol)
4)Oh Wol, Hwa Jin's maid die
(actually she still alive)
5)Hwa Jin lies and betrayal
(she let go after finally realized it was useless to do anything)
6)Byung In & Cheoljong final fight
(I believe Cheoljong will reappear alive )
The most surprising to me so far is Hwa Jin's redemption arc.
You know, if this drama is like the other angsty and melodrama Korean historical dramas, after Hwa Jin realized that she lost the king's favor, she will not stop plotting evil schemes and she might even try to make the queen miscarriage.
In the end, she will exiled/punished/commit suicide or even more extreme, Prince Yeongpyeong that has crush on her will get injured/died because protecting her after she did some evil deeds.
But in this drama, they make the king himself admitted that the reason he was in love with Hwa Jin before was not just because she was his "fake savior", Hwa Jin bravely asked the king for her freedom herself and the king finally let her go after realized how unfair it was for her. I means, that a nice way to settle this without any tragic incident.
SpoilerI think this version has a happy ending with them still being a royal couple in the palace.
But maybe this drama won't show the queen give birth, meaning she still a pregnant woman until the end.
The bts picture had Kim Jung Hyun and Shin Hye Sun wearing royal costumes holding a cake that has the candles number "2" and "0", maybe refer to the final episode, episode 20.
