This scene is so memorable and symbolizes so many things.
Wook, despite of his indecisiveness on so many opportunities, he finally decides to do something, that is to choose family over love. A decision I find to be a bit hard to condemn but he could have shown HS his compassion, even just for a glimpse of it. Turning his back on her lowest moment pretty much shows what kind of man he truly is.
So. A man in love is surely dangerous. He stops at nothing and fears at no one. By standing with Soo, he knows exactly what kind of trouble he's in. I said it before that his love for Soo simply transcends my screen. It radiates thru his eyes, his quivering lips, his stern jaw. Gosh, LJG SLAYS!!
Soo. She learns how palace life is a war zone, in a darn hard way. But she's hopeful because of So. The way she collects herself to sit straight again, I hope she gets her spunk back, even just a glimmer of it, she's gonna need it.
O Monday, where are thou?
Ps: huge thanks to everyone in this thread, it's like a therapy for me. Pretending to have a normal life that doesn't revolve around this drama is super hard! :)))

How can I forget that one? yassh, that scene had me cheering, hahaha..
First, when Soo still looks for Wook, I was like "Girl, He ain't gonna come for you!" And then So shows up and jumps into rescuing her, being knighty and all. I was fangirling hard! Go Wang So!
His love for Soo really moves me in this episode. The way he looks at her in the prison, his gaze is so sad and tormented, having seen the person she cares most suffering and battered. The grand love story in this drama might start as one-sided love from So to Soo, how a man learns to love and gives everything to be loved. At this point, I just want So&Soo to be happy. No matter how little their time may come.

Dang it. Dang it. Dang it. Dang it. This episode is DA BOMB.
I'm still crying rite now. Lady Oh. You shall be missed. Omagahhhhhh...i'm heartbroken for Soo and the king. Poor guy, he must have died heartbroken, having killed the love of his life.
I love love love this eps.
My fave scenes :
1. So and Soo's conversation in prison. FINALLY, she feels it!
2. Soo&Lady Oh final conversation in the cave. My tears. My heart. I can't take it. It's like mom&daughter saying goodbye for the last time.
3. Baek ah & Soo's scene. I love you Baek ah!!
4. Soo finally sees that Wook is not for her. He leaves her there. He does nothing. ADIOS!!! I was literally waving at him when he turns his back on her.
5. So comes and stands with Soo in the rain. Soo seems to get a new strength when she sees him. Whooosahhh, the ship is sailing! It starts late and slow. But it's always better late than never!
GAWD. My eyes are swollen. How should i explain this to my kids? Momma cried like a baby during tv.

HS has done nothing for anyone to make a comment on her deserving someone or not. The woman has cared for strangers.. she was not obligated to. So, then what is it that WS has done that makes you say he deserves HS and HS does not deserve him?
He loves HS. He needs HS to exist to feel at peace, to feel wanted. If he goes to extreme lengths to save her, protect her, care for her.. or do whatever.. that is because he loves her. He is not doing that out of charity or humanitarian grounds. It is a very selfish act e.g. Queen Yoo may go to any length if 14th prince will get hurt.. but does that automatically make her a wonderful woman.. ??
WS has done nothing..and I mean nothing.. to DESERVE HS. HS has her own life.. she can like whoever she wants to.. and she does..
So handwriging her into giving up what she chose out of fear.. and then over time even if she does fall in love with WS.. its meaningless..
Yes, it would be fascinating becaus WS is being played by a handsome man right now.. and LJK is sexy.. But if I turn WS into a not so good looking man.. this same character becomes tyrant and puke worthy as far as true love goes..
I agree he loves her.. but he does not respect her!!!..
Well, they don't deserve each other then? :))))
WS might come across as less respectable guy for you, but he pretty much saved her life quite few times already. He stood up for her in front of his family and his evil mom. He was ready to give up everything to run away with her. He is not a calculating man when it comes to love, given that he have not received much since he was just a kid. He's a go-getter kinda guy because he knows he's never been privileged to wish for anything before. He's a man of his words, he says what he thinks and he's committed to his words. He's not hiding behind pretty words.
WS's character is written that way and from my modern POV, he might come as obsessive and pushy. But I admit that I admire this production to consistently portray So as how his character written in the novel. No matter how uncomfortable he may look to some viewers, it's not always about how gorgeous the actor who plays him (thank God for LJG tho') or how nice a leading man should act, for me it's about presenting a layered lead character, not merely black and white, a hero needs to be provocative and mind-challenging too.
I need Soo to step up from her naivety that's been going on for 10 friggin' episodes. Maybe she's written this way but honestly I'm pretty much worn out.
In this case, let's just agree to disagree, shall we?
I still wish for So&Soo to at least acknowledge each other's feeling. They both deserve to be happy even for a bit since the game of thrones will only get nasty!

later on, when you guys can rewatched, we can discuss about HS's dialogue to herself when wook proposed to her.
Her inner dialogue was quite amusing to me. It doesnt seems like she loves him at all....
Yashh..I thought so too. She tries to convince herself that Wook is the right guy for her. She wants to be sure because she actually wavers about her own feeling.
Girl, you have no idea that an epic love is actually waiting outside that damned cave! Thank goodness lady Oh said that it will be closed. I'm done with secret dates!

The hairpin! I saw two picts posted here, Soo wears a blue dress/hanbok and she definitely wears the hairpin. In BBJX if i'm not mistaken there was this scene where Ruoxi finally wore the hairpin given by the 4th prince to show him that she finally accepted his love? Cmiiw.
I cant wait for that sceneee..I want So to feel Soo's love, altho honestly deep inside I kinda feel Soo doesn't deserve him, her being lukewarm toward him offended me a little. But since So only has eyes for her, so be it then, our hero needs a break. Here I am, acting like a crazy ex-girlfriend :)))
Anyone happens to know those picts I mentioned above? Thanks chingu-deul!

Haesoo..chaeballll..open your eyes and heart! There's this great guy who even challenges death to protect you. My heart is literally in pain seeing last 10 minutes of tonight's eps. So's pain, his trembling hands, his tortured eyes. My goodness, aside from how heartbreaking the scene was, let's give a standing ovation to this great actor that is Lee Joon Gi. That poisoning scene wowed me to the bones. Kudos to him. He is the king of historical drama, indeed!
I almost lost it with HS's naivety tonight. Whether she's in denial or she's just plain clueless. I hope she already feels at least a tingling of emotion toward So. If not, then I dont know anymore. GIRL, YOU BETTER GET YOURSELF TOGETHER! Am so frustrated.
So's being stubborn on expressing his love to Soo is so cute. His teasing eyes had me flutter <3 <3 <3
Tomorrow will be so intense, how should i survive the 22 hrs of waiting?

I have so many random thoughts in the show but I am loving the layered nuances of their characters. I also love how the show plays with the concept of self-fill-fulling prophecy via premonitions and bootstrap paradox of time travel.
Hae Soo- This is one confused girl....she is still the naive, compassionate, optimistic happy-go-lucky person. This makes her stand out in the jaded world that is royal palace but also places her at immense risk. She still is unable to sense the undercurrents in the palace and royal politics. She fails to see that marriages and alliances are a way to gain power and all princes are prisoners in this gilded cage anyways with her modern sensibilities. Most people do not mean what they say in palace. She does not get regardless of who becomes the king, there will be a bloodshed and all the princes will be impacted by it. It is a fight for survival for them. She views everything with rose colored glasses hoping that the royal family continues to thrive and grow with same amount of love and affection amongst them. I don't think she has an inkling on turbulent history between Wook and Yo's household. What she needs is some one to sit her down and explain how things worked in this era but no one would do that given that everyone expects her to know all of this already. She judges people on absolutes and in one dimension which is odd because she seems wise beyond her age when she consoled So both the times (After he killed the monks and when he was humiliated in rain ritual). She is judging So based on a premonition without any context as she does not remember the entire history and seems to have selective memory of Gwangjeong's cruelty. While I understand why she would be taken aback and freaked out by the role she played in bringing So to forefront, I have a hard time understanding why she is not conflicted with the fact that So seems nothing like the future Gwangjeong.
So sorry i cut your post. How i love your point of view, I could not say it better.
Right now, HS is just too naive to survive the palace life. Considering she's been there quite sometimes, it's her black-or-white view would just give her tougher times. She does need someone to sit her down and tell her The Goryeo Life 101 or something. But i'm an optimist, WS will be her torch out of this dark cave of confusion. Her most feared person would turn into her stronget pillar to (hopefully) survive.

Eps 9 was intense!
But i have to disagree if it's said to be crappy or declining in terms of quality. We've been slightly warned that the ride is gonna be angsty, tear-jerking, heart-wrenching, and swears-inducing. This eps is only the beginning. Although i'd appreciate if HS's reaction toward WS is brought down a notch. I just could not stand seeing WS's eyes when she told him that he frightened her. I literally looked away, those eyes were haunting. I tried so hard to fit in HS's shoes tonight, to understand where she's coming from, but the sight of WS being put down over and over again surely didn't help. LJK slaying again!
I'm holding on to IU's saying that eps 11 will be a good one. So I'd like to assume that after the kiss she'll go with WS to the beach and few hours of heart-to-heart talk will ease her mind and wash away her fear for a little bit. As seen in preview, WW will see them together and jealousy finally turns to anger. Poisoning incident might prove how big WS's love for HS and she finally warms up to him again.
I just wish that HS's change of heart would not be abrupt and forced. It better be somewhat of late realisation that she always sees him as a man, a protector and a confidante, even without her knowing of it before. Maybe after seeing WS in the brink of death due to the poison?
I'm a sucker for conflicting romance, the push and pull between OTP, the longing, the little heartbreaks in between, when they finally stay together it's more satisfying. But if the ending says otherwise, well i'm just royally doomed then :))))))
Monday seems to be aeons away.
Edit : i love love love Baek ah yeon's ost. Very sweet, soothing and somehow giving hints of lovely time between WS&HS.
Fighting SoHae couple!

@Adnana @40somethingahjumma I love your posts! Well-said.
I could understand how many of us feel disappointed with HS's fear toward WS. I was mad at HS upon seeing the preview too. I love WS so much that the possibility of him taking another rejection ain't no fun. He's been thru hell since he was just a little helpless boy and the mere potential that he would be such an amazing lover if HS just accepts his heart, is just soooo exciting. So yes, i'm deflated by this turn of events.
But then, I try to look at it again form HS's point of view. She's brought up in 21st century as a free-willed individual who's probably taught that violence is never an answer. She's made friends and even has romantic feeling to one of the brothers. Fear is a natural response, of course. We only saw a glimpse of HS's reaction at the end of episode 8 and her change of feeling toward WS may or may not continue for a long period of time. We should reserve our judgment or opinion until some lights being shed. I just hope tonight's episode will do her justice.

Phew...this thread is on fire, isn't it?
WS is way too hot to handle in eps 8, LJK is blinding me with his beauty, seriously!
So, the plot is closely following C-vers and HS's premonition will ignite the history-making. I read in DB that maybe the writer set the story differently from what actually happenned in history. WS will still become King Gwangjong, the great ruler who stayed at the throne for 26 years. Maybe what HS remembers of him is HER history and her love story with WS somehow would change the trajectory of a man's life and his way of thinking so we could have OUR history, that WS would be a king with a slight modern feel and thoughts. In a way, HS will be the trigger of WS to be a better emperor and prevent him from all the violent acts toward his family.
About HS avoiding WS in the next episode, honestly I feel uneasy about it since it will be a heartbreak to WS. But it's understandable and i'm sure his absence would make HS's heart grow fonder because i hope she will realize she'll miss someone she can talk to and completely be herself. I just wish her fear won't stay long because she needs to see how pitiful WS already when everyone seems to be against him.

OH MY GOOD LORD! the preview just killed me.
I'm still at the office and i literally held my breath and closed my mouth so i didn't squeal.
The scene is....gosh, i'm lost for word here.
HS's answer right there, that she just couldn't care any less about the scar, that how she sees WS as a good person, that she sees right thru him. HS just scores a top place as the most beloved and precious person in his universe.
I can not keep my focus on my piles of work, should i just skip them all together?
Sail my SoHae ship, sail away to the sunset of love!

Based on Wikipedia entry on Gwangjong of Goryeo, this is what was written.
Family
- Father: King Taejo (태조)
- Mother: Queen Sinmyeongsunseong (신명순성왕후)
- Consorts:
- Queen Hae Soo
- Children:
- King Gyeongjong (경종), 1st Son of Queen Hae Soo
- Crown Prince Hyohwa (효화태자), 2nd Son of Queen Hae Soo
- Lady Chenchujeon (천추전부인), 1st daughter of Queen Hae Soo
- Lady Bohwagung (보화궁부인), 2nd daughter of Queen Hae Soo
- Queen Mundeok (문덕왕후), 3rd daughter of Queen Hae Soo
Wishful thinking?
You seriously made me google it and it's written in the wiki!
The historical Wang So really married Hae Soo? I'm confused. I thought HS is just a made-up character.
Someone enlighten me please, as I'm getting giddy with the anticipation of this possible ending.

I am quite confused about these different versions.. I've heard that the live broadcast of Scarlet Heart and the video on Dramafever or Dramafire are different? How come there are different versions for Scarlet Heart? I always thought that Dramafever uses SBS version since they are affiliated with them or in some way. Does anyone know why there are different versions and some scenes are in one version while in the other version it's not? I know that Scarlet Heart is airing in China at the same time so I'm sure the edits for that version is different.....
From what i know until now, the ones airing internationally are mostly the same, but to accomodate the Korean viewers, some episodes have been re-edited. SBS airs the re-edited versions.
Pretty confusing tho'

Dear Mods, am so sorry for quoting pics, but this is one of the missing scenes from the earlier broadcast in S-One Channel. I watched it live thru channel S-one and i just checked the online raw SBS version a couple minutes ago...bummer we seem to have another deleted scenes. Please someone confirm this
In above scene, WW and YH seemed to talk about the throne or possibility of Wook to be re-married, cmiiw.
Another one is the scene after this one where Ji Mong put medicine on crown prince's skin problem.
Why, why? Another different version? The deleted scenes are less than the ones in eps. 6 but still..

Yeayyy to episode full of So tonight, and he's falling hard!
Last scene broke my heart to pieces :(((
So's most vulnerable side is being ridiculed and Soo watched the whole thing made him hurt even more.
He said that he hated her way of looking at him, but boy little did he know that she'll be his greatest source of strength.
Scarlet heart is surely my crack and i'm high on LJK right now.

After watching raw and comparing it to One Channel's version, there are some scene differences. Maybe Korean version got better editing, imo. Scenes were more fluid and less off.
I have to take back my words earlier about So. I was a bit sad looking at how he seems to be reluctant about saving HS. But after seeing it all over again, he's at some point haven't realized how he trully feels about HS. He cares for her and is feeling her frustration but he's unaware of how it would haunt him back if he only just stays still and does nothing. HS has claimed a spot in his mind but he has not figured out how big of a impact she would have made in his life, for example if he's never gonna see her again.
So's tortured eyes, his stern face, his stiff body when he sees HS's agony were making me swoon and swoon...
After seeing the possibility of her dying, it was a chance to truly feel how it's like to completely lose her. I think it was kind of a wake up call for him.
After 6 episodes, K version seems closely follow the Chinese plot, so I'm afraid that the romance of Wook and Soo will have more time to grow and it means my SoSoo ship is still stranded somewhere.
:(((
Not that I complain about KHN's amazingly pretty face gracing my screen, it's just that my shipper heart is beating for So&Soo only..sorry Wook-ah!
Another countdown to tonight's eps! Thank you fellow moonlovers for the insights, you're all jjang *thumbs up*

It's kinda ironic that it's So who's reluctant to save Soo from the forced marriage, while other princes try hard to get her out of it.
What is this? :((
The king is surprised to find out that it's Soo that he'll marry to.
Wook kneels down to ask the king about the marriage.
King asks why Wook is against it. So comes and tells him that Hae family has been cheating on the King to stop the wedding.
But the king still insists to proceed because of some political reasons.
Soo cuts her wrist to avoid the wedding and begs the king to let her go.
Wook and So watches in horror. She faints and wook catches her.
- 20
-
Hae Family makes a deal with the king to marry Soo, since Lady Hae dies they want to be safe.
..and the jawflex *swoon*
Soo tries to be strong just makes my heart break.
All the princes looks sad when soo gets taken away by the palace guards.
- 21
-
The princes work together to help soo escape, so sweet!
Wook uses decoy (like in a preview), YH sees them and follows after them to the forest with guards.
The decoy is Eun :)))
Soo runs away with So.
Aww the scene gives me butterflies esp. when he says that he hates to see her life gets controlled by anyone else.
They get caught by Ji Mong and tell them that soo should go to the palace and marry the king!
Nooooo
- 17
-
Eun consoles soo with puppet show.
They share laughter and seem to be happy together.
Soo visits Lady Hae's grave and says thank you.
She meets Baek ah and Jung, when they're back, YH gives her the news : she's getting married.
