  1. Happy New Year everyone! Dropping by a little~ There's so many posts that I can't backtrack anymore xD

@kittyna The pic below - That's some snack given by Joo Won's Hongkong fanclub during a support project for Love Express. That photo was posted by the director (guy in that marshmallow(?) thing) with an accompanying text, "Is it delicious? Me? " :D

    His post here: https://weibo.com/1807294262/Dbs0gs9AD?type=comment#_rnd1514905300651

I have no idea what the story is behind this photo (save that it's from filming "Love Express"), but it's funny

@stearly you've got back your old profile with the handsome looking guy... haha. Happy for you. Welcome back stearly ... your reputation is won by your hard work being interactive in Soompi. Congrats.  But what happened to your activity feed ?

@lavender2love I believe Soompi has deleted all the activity that are before August 2016.

@sagaseed..... Yes I wonder too if he was given time to practise. It is a difficult song with soaring notes to hit and JW did wonderfully. See how he paused at the end thn belt out the soaring note. It quickens my heart. I think JW chose this song because the lyrics are so inspiring and stirring. He must have believed in the the motivating lyrics of the quest. However he sang in Korean. I wonder if the lyrics carry the same inspiration. Has he ever sung it in English for any musical.... curious.... curious ... !!  Just a side note : Impossible dream is written for the Spanish novel Don Quixote ( pronounced quicks-sott or kee-ho-tay )

@lavender2love I was wondering why the Don Quixote song sounded familiar when I shouldn't have heard it before... did he sang it in 1N2D ?

Tried searching videos but found this instead... he sang Snow Flower in 1N2D before too? Didn't remember at all =o

Edit: Oh, he sang it on Healing Camp (just one line ). This is the song that he sang during high school and a musical senior passing by heard him and recommended him to audition.

Okay, you know someone's voicework is good when you can hear them in your head just from looking at a picture - or GIF, in this instance. No lie: I can literally the "GAKSITAAAALLL!!!" right now.

Yes, and he is especially expressive with his eyes. I have another gif which I made from gaksital...

    gaksital2_zpsp3uj317d.gif

I should go through my treasure chest someday  in the meantime here's another from Ojakgyo Brothers. Long-legged oppa

I know from photoshoots and whatnot that Mountia, GGIO2 and Mindbridge are good places to search out for right now - Soompi's Instagram recently featured a photo of a JW cut-out from GGIO2, and I think that Mountia and Mindbridge both already did their photoshoots for the 2017 F/W season, which are still forthcoming. I think Park Bo Gum is the one who does Edwin now.

This "Entertainment Weekly" interviewed was just shared recently, but I'm reposting it to point out that it was done on the set of a Mountia photoshoot - my guess, since the 2017 S/S one was months ago, is that this would be for the upcoming 2017 F/W stuff.

Thanks for sharing the videos, I have not seen them ^^; I am obviously very outdated with his 2017 activities. In the Entertainment Weekly, he seems to spend a considerable amount of time thinking of his future. He had always been thinking and planning for his future. Work hard while he's young and enjoy the fruits of labour in the future. And I believe he is on the right track.

    ig20151127.png?w=660

And the below post... (Sorry, 4th line should be translated as 'Watching TOTOGA on Infinity Challenge')

"It will be good if I also become such a memory for someone in the future"

    twit20150103.png?w=660&h=401

He has already been a special memory for me. I'd remember that he's the first (and only, so far) celebrity that I attended a FM for.

Joo Won used to promote a cafe Beansbin for a short period, so people going Korea may want to try them too.

(Below pic is not from Baker King! haha. That's his Cha Yoojin hairstyle with a bit of styling)

  5. Wow, so many new posts here, you girls are great!

Regarding the Hallyu issue, I would also say he is well known/recognised but not at the Hallyu level. I think he just wants to do what he loves - acting, and while being popular comes with its perks, I think what is more important is that he is doing what he likes and gets the recognition he deserves. As fans, we will support him and his passion for acting - which I believe is what turned most of us into his fans in the first place. Generally, I notice that Joo Won attracts fans with his talents instead of looks, and this sentence applies to me as well.

    hc_zpsks5cbgz2.jpg

In fact, I actually think I wouldn't follow celebrities who are 'too popular', they'll be too tiring for me to follow. There was an article which I translated before and Joo Won mentioned his Passion Heaven co-stars. That article started getting shared by the co-star fans, so I also looked up their hashtag on SNS... and there were soooo many posts in one day! I don't think I can survive in such fandom.

That said, Joo Won's popularity had also been increasing, though not at an exponential rate. This is something which I also experienced between the 2015 and 2016 Thailand fanmeet. In the 2015 FM, it was a smaller venue that holds about 1000 fans divided into 2 columns whereas the 2016 venue holds about 2000 fans divided into 3 columns. In the latter FM, fans became further from the stage and since there were more columns, his attention was more divided. So I can't imagine myself attending a FM with like, 5000 or more people?

I first saw Joo Won in Good Doctor. I didn't follow the live broadcast and only started watching when the drama was nearing its end. In the early episodes, I kinda thought that the actor for Shion was really autistic! I was curious but didn't bother to research about him, until the episode where he sang 'If I'. That's when I started to search about him on youtube, and found out that he was also the one who sang the very beautiful normal version of 'If I'! With a few more clicks, I found his live performance of Gaksital OST 'The Last Judgement' during the KBS drama awards and was impressed and shocked at how the person whom I thought was autistic could actually put up such performance!

So after completing Good Doctor (wasn't a fan yet), I went to watch Gaksital immediately. (Till date, this is the only Korean drama that I rewatched - and 3 times).

His first few lines were shouting out commands, and I was still in disbelief - I am watching Lee Kangto right after seeing him as Park Shion.

    Then came the memorable scene...

    gaksital3_zpsytvey8qx.gif

Some may say he overacted, but to me, this was the scene that turned me into a fan. He continued to impress me with the rest of the episodes. Gaksital was a drama which I thoroughly enjoyed from the beginning till the end. Yongpal came close but I didn't enjoy it as much when the plot shifted to focus more on Yeojin instead. I would prefer if they developed the 'gang doctor' story more.

Regarding the comparison of him with... LMH? Er, I actually didn't see such comparison. But I know about JCW since he seems to be similar to Joo Won in several ways. But come to think of it, what I've heard is that some JW fans turned into JCW fans, and not actually comparing them. Perhaps it's just that I hardly pay attention to such talks.

Sadly, while I was there, I didn't see any JW cut-outs - I still think I just wasn't in the know enough to look in the right places. T

@kittyna or anyone visiting Korea, you can try searching for Mountia stores which Joo Won endorses. I'm not sure if he still have a contract with them but their Facebook page is still showing Joo Won. You could probably ask for a pamphlet at the stores. You could also try Edwin stores if they have old pamphlets of Joo Won (they have already changed their main model).

@stearly! Or now @Shellenna ! I remember you~ and even your profile picture  You had always posted many pictures of Joo Won  Let's do our best again!

I can't help but laugh at both the scene where he starts singing Should I say I Love You Again.. He was so naive yet adorable..  Loved this song. It'd be great if JW sang it as an OST.

I don't know if it's just me... there're some songs that're very famous, but I loved JW version only. Specially Like Rain Like Music. I really hope it'll be released as JW's OST one day.

Waa, that video of Like Rain Like Music looks so HD but it's not available in my country :bawling:

I was also surprised when I heard the original versions of Like Rain Like Music and Butterfly Effect, they're so different in style! Biasness aside, i really do love Joo Won's version more. It sounds more emotional.

Fun fact: Fans sang Should I Say I Love You Again to Joo Won at the Thai FM 2016. The Thai FC prepared a clip for him that's played at the venue and fans sang along behind. As the clip ends, fans held up a note saying that we will wait for his return. He cried when he turned around and saw it :dissapointed_relieved:

Oh, someone had filmed at that time:

  7. @sagaseed Well for Boa songs, I started with Every Heart too. My current favourite is Winter Love followed by Jewel Song cuz they're easier to sing at ktv  (They're all old songs though xD ) Haven't been watching new dramas recently... went to watch a 2013 episode of Infinity Challenge and continued from there... because Boa was on a few episodes there LOL! I wonder if I'm turning into a Boa fan instead

@airplanegirl I've just went to search for Right Here, Right Everywhere too, sounds like it can be my new favourite too! I generally do prefer her Japanese songs too. CAMO isn't really my type of music.

Sharing songs that Joo Won sang in foreign language!

    Joo Won - Nadeshiko (Japanese)

This is actually his original Japanese ost! I think it's used in a Japanese movie. Sharing a 60 second trailer version since it has footages of him. Full version of the song can be found on youtube, there's also a live version.

Hitomi wo Tojite (Close My Eyes - Japanese)

    Peng You (Friend - Chinese)

    The Last Light (Thai)

There's also the English You Raise Me Up from Ojakgyo Brothers which @sagaseed  shared above.

Anyone remembers any other foreign songs? These are all that I remember.

I know he had sang more Japanese songs according to some Japan FM reports but it's not available in videos.

  8. Here are some non OST performances which new fans may not have seen.

    1. Butterfly Effect (Originally by Shin Seung Hoon who is also the original singer for I Believe)

Such emotional singing... My personal favourite song!

Watch full episode of A Song 4 U at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R71yvHSR9u0

The full episode does not have the full song so make sure to watch both videos!

    2) Snow Flower (at Japan FM 2015)

This, including the original Japanese version, is also one of my favourite songs which I listen to everyday.

    3) Musical Ghost

    Here Right Now

Watch Joo Won on Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook (Eng) at http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x17nom2

    Three Little Words

    Rain/Hold On + Unchained Melody

For those who have not watched the musical like me, this is the most we can ever get to see. There are several fanaccounts for Ghost on Joo Won Cutie blog though!

Though I would like to confess... these days I'm listening to Boa's songs more than Joo Won's LOL! How i envy her!

AWWW.. I'm jumping with joy to see @rionae here!! How been you been, my dear chingu!?!? Have you watched MSG?

For those who are new, @rionae had helped to translate numerous JW videos including the famous Life Logs and had written some fan accounts in Joo Won Cutie. I can't thank for enough for helping me to find joy in watching those subbed videos. It was so nice of her to share her upclose and personal encounters with Joo Won as well as awesome photos of Joo Won in fanmeetings too. Am always impressed with her ability to self-learn Korean (and Japanese if I'm not mistaken). Plus she is sweet and considerate girl in real life!

@sagaseed Heyya! I missed the days we were swooning over him at the Thai FM~ How have you been?

Yeah I finished MSG too. Can't believe it has ended already.. now we really don't have his new dramas to watch... Wonder if his Chinese drama Love Express will ever get to see the daylight. The past few months I have watched other dramas, searching for a new actor to follow... but no one has attracted me the way Joo Won did...
(Oh and I actually translate Japanese, not Korean xD)

@rionae .... So you're one of the famous cuties...... I guess Joo Won's fans are talented people. Were you the one who did the white shite gif which I posted in Yong Pal and you gave an interesting account of that meeting ? You shouldn't be hiding your talent. This thread needs you too.

@lavender2love Aha, did you mean these pics? That was him pranking a fan on stage...

    jwfm01.gif

    jwfm02.gif

And since I'm already at my fanacc page to look for the pics above, re-sharing a short clip of him performing the L7CS OST during the 2015 Thai FM... I loved his dance....  (pardon the audio though) I still remembered how he was dancing that right in front of me and my mind went blank. Lucky I had this clip to revisit that scene. Too bad the security stopped me from filming after that... but it's still a good thing that I managed to capture the best moment

I'd love to re-share all the pics and videos but there's just too many  So if anyone's interested, you can find my 2015 fan account at https://joowoncutie.wordpress.com/2015/03/23/fanacc-joo-won-thai-fanmeet-2015-by-rionae/

  10. Helllooooooo everyone! 'Old' fan here since Good Doctor~ Good to see this thread getting active again! Have still been checking this thread though I have not been posting.

I'm quite slow... only found out about Joo Won's new OST I Believe today... didn't recognise his voice at the first line... /killsmyself

Somehow his voice sounds higher/gentler than usual.. kind of sound like his voice in My Love from Baker King.

And since I'm an 'old' fan, sharing an old video of him performing I Believe at the Japan FM 2014 !

  11. Happy New Year everyone!!

Just watched Joo Won on the SBS Drama Awards... feel like a long time since I saw him on Korean TV channel. :bawling:

And because I was alternating between KBS and SBS... I missed the part where they supposedly showed My Sassy Girl trailer >_> I think I saw the subsequent trailers and was wondering why they didn't show MSG... then I realized I missed it cuz it was mentioned on the live blog. And when Oh Yeon Seo was presenting an award, she said "next year with Joo Won..." and then my stream died -.- What timing! Guess I'll look for the video tomorrow.

  12. Hello! I'm still lurking around too!

Recently I saw an article on Go Kyung Pyo who talked about how he would like to go on Running Man, and named Joo Won as one of the people he would like to go on RM with. YES PLEASE! (source: https://www.soompi.com/2016/11/19/go-kyung-pyo-eager-appear-running-man/)

My Sassy Girl is going to be on SBS, right? Hopefully we still have a chance to see Joo Won on RM (no more cooking episodes, thanks... )

  13. This is such a mess...

Though I like Oh Yeon Seo, this is just so unfair for Kim Joo Hyun and all the girls who auditioned. Saying that she stepped down due to the burden is like just dumping the blame onto her. And it may not reflect well in her future career, especially when she's still such a rookie. Who would want to cast a rookie in a major role if she may back off at the last minute?

This brings me back to the first question I had on this remake - Why the hell are they remaking My Sassy Girl? Is the story about the romance of a sassy girl really that interesting? That it's worth not just one (movie) remake but two? I have watched the original movie and honestly it bores me. I couldn't see how it got the hype it received.  And does a "remake" = keeping the character name only? Everything else seem to be changed beyond recognition, and I read that Kim Joo Hyun is getting a new secondary role as The Girl's love rival instead. Why not just call it a new story? Though we all probably know, that linking it to the famous My Sassy Girl and holding the open audition is just... a publicity stunt. A negative one, though. I guess they don't mind all the bashing as long as people still tune in and boost their ratings.

I think i'm losing my anticipation with all these mess. Even the Chinese drama and movie. I'll just watch when it becomes available.

Btw, those Sweet Sixteen clips can be found on Instagram. He mouthed all the Chinese words!

  14. Wow! There is an upcoming 'Joowon's Lifelog' on V-App tomorrow 1pm (KST)! I think it's not the same Lifelog we have seen before though. It said 'Joowon's Lifelog EP.1 Recent Release', so we should be looking at recent things or just another live broadcast...? And we should be getting several episodes of it??

How many years ago was our Lifelog again? Time flies.

Wonder if they have started filming for MSG already.
