  1. @luluwannagohome "personal schedule" That's what I mean, dear. Not a business shedule, he could adjust the shcedule if he really wanted to join the award event this year. It is because most of the awards will go to Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun. (daesang, popularity, best couple and other awards) No need for him to be there to play as a minor role.

Jun Ji Hyun adjusted her busy schdule(of course, it was business ones) it guarantees for her daesang.

Celebs always have tactics to protect themselves and I get used to it not only Insung's.

And if you ask me why he attended the ceremony last year, that Special Award was inferior to the daesang of Lee Bo Young only...SBS appreciated him already...we have to admit TWTWB was that not popular or had that high ratings compared to I hear your voice.

But after the award night, Korean media questioned about his Special Award.

I hope you won't take me seriously because I am always like this but I always wish him all the best. Thanks for all your updates ^^

  2. @timi163 You want to say I'm old actually? lol

What Happened in Bali was his breakthrogh role, Korean people still parody his cying scene lol. This one is most significant for his career while A Dirty Carnival was a turning point of his "actor" image.

I'm really looking forward to Gangnam blues because I want to know if Yoo Ha can turn Lee Min Ho into "a real actor" or not?

"Well, still hoping Insung will show up in the awards night.." Want to see him in suit?

P.S. I hope I won't see Insung's fans blame it on SBS because one thing you should learn that the daesang of the channel not only based on acting skills, it is not the Palme d' Or or best actor award of Cannes.

KBS's daesang is more focused on acting skills according last year's result. It will be good if Jo Jae Hyun takes home the daesang this year.

And please don' t say smth like he deserves it because of his hard work , other dedicated their best to works too.
  3. @timi163 You should have gone to Korea in 2004, at the peak of his career, that was the year of Jo In Sung (What Happened in Bali), Kang Dong Won (Temptation of Wolves) Of course, this drama made Insung become Korean girls' ideal type and also "Jo In Sung mania" words were invented lol

I distinguish between "popular" and "famous" popular is being so supportive by fans while famous is being well known among public, the names when were mentioned, people surely know. The stuff like merchandise you said above sure is supportive by fans.

Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Woo Bin are the new wave of Korean entertainment industry.

Insung is in stable position already. Jang Dong Gun, Jung Woo Sung, Won Bin, In Sung, Kang Dong Won, Hyun Bin is always top for Koreans. If you always check Korean portal sites, K-netz always mentioned them as top class, they still praise the names I mentioned above as "the most hansome guys"

For example, I'm sure everyone in Korea knows Choi Min Sik even he is not popular among fans lol   He is top class and such a big actor in Korea.

"of course from the ads" sure this is one of the factors to show off the fame of any stars but not all the time, some famous stars refrain from accepting too much ads to remain their real actor images including Ha Ji Won.

"Although, I still consider Dirty Carnival his best when it comes to acting but in IOTL , PD KIm and Noh guided him to act out his best in a TV drama as JJY.. :x" me too, dear and many think the same plus my friend who was wowed by his perfomance in A Dirty Carnival. I am impressed with his acting in this one the most, I still remember that scene when he stared at his friend and the mud scene. But I think he never realize how good he is in A Dirty Carnival, I would like to say this is the best acting of his and that's why I really appreciate Yoo Ha but I consider his acting in IOIL is one of his masterpieces.

He has so much talent already but Noh Hee Kyung's writing just support his acting to be good.

I like this review of A Dirty Carnival.

http://www.soundonsight.org/best-of-korean-cinema-3-gangland/ the link can't show the body lol

Ha-Yu’s Dirty Carnival is a much more common example of Korean cinema in that it includes many disparate plot threads and styles under its banner. The basic set up sees Byung-du (a 29-year-old career criminal) working for the middle-rank enforcer Sang-chul. Burdened with a terminally ill mother and taking care of younger siblings, at work Byung-du is feeling pressured as the family patriarch. When the big boss President Hwang is cornered by a corrupt prosecutor, Byung-du volunteers for the hit and wins the bosses trust. As far as describing A Dirty Carnival, that doesn’t get very far. Besides the central plot thread, Byung-Du meets with an old school friend, Min-Ho, who has now become a film making wanting to make an authentic gangster film. Through his old friend he comes into contact with his an old friend who he was infatuated with, and still has feelings for in Hyun-Joo. There are also bizarre little karaoke numbers after many of the more significant scenes.

This is a messy film. Thematically, A Dirty Carnival is about the murky nature of the organised crime world, how indecision is a killer and how it isn’t as clean cut as it would appear. Nothing is as simple as it appears and no-one can be trusted. At its heart, Ha-Yu’s film is deeply pessimistic. Even calling it a gangster film is problematic. Byung-Du may be direct about gangster life when talking to his childhood friend, as well as possessing a laissez-faire approach to violence, but he is neglectful in his life of crime, which he only embraces when it smacks him about the face with a baseball bat, demanding action. It appears as if he is only embracing the underworld because it’s the only way he is able to take care of his family. As the film develops, the crime world and his blood relatives react the only way they can.

Ha-Yu has numerous stylistic flourishes from gangster cinema, first and foremost is the score which borrows heavily from mediterranean cinema, namely French and Italian crime cinema of the 70s as well as directors like Martin Scorsese, cinema which is evoked at the directors folly. This doesn’t even begin to live up to the standards of those legendary films, thanks to the simple premise that those films were streamlined and concise in the story and played up the emotions through their contained narrative. A Dirty Carnival is admirably tense and unpredictable, but disarmed by the number of plot threads running alongside each other. To jump from incredibly tense face off to a karaoke number with a musician in the background with the weirdest singing voice wearing the most incredibly eccentric hat, as a viewer you don’t know where to look.

Despite this atypically Korean skew, there is much to celebrate. Take the action. There are numerous action scenes, with those baseball bats that are visceral and entertaining, for all their uncontrolled, anti-choreography. Likewise there is a chase scene through a library that makes fantastic use of its location. The lead actor who plays Byung-Do (Zo In-Sung) also impresses, with a bashful subtlety that makes his relationships uncertain and him as a person, unpredictable. His character, like the film, doesn’t display enough consistency for one to get a true understanding on the small truths and nuances. While all the separate elements are necessary to create a satisfying push-pull dynamic, the film would’ve benefit immensely from a rigorous edit. Turning its ambitions from epic and vague into tight and tense, using the paranoia as a narrative impetus rather than being another aspect lost in the mist.

Insung confirms not to attend SBS Drama Awards this year.

LOL What abroad schedul? We all know he is busy just when he is shooting dramas, he has so much free time now. IOK not good to make an alibi, the thing I was afraid of lol

Of course, it is because he knew the daesang will go to Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun (SBS top management stated they may share the daesang) They will win other awards including Best Couple Award as well.

No surprise, this is the year of these two.

Same case as Jang Dong Gun in 2012, he didn't attend because Son Hyun Joo got the daesang. Kim Soo Ro accepted the best actor award on his behalf.

Some Korean Media said Insung's Special Award last year is his nightmare lol

  5. @blim0523 miss you and all here...

He accepted the role in Frozen Flower when he was 27 so it was not too young, Kim Nam Gil was younger than him when he took the gay role in No Regret.

The only thing I would give him credit for his bravery just because the gay thing is not acceptable in Korea especially in royal dynasty plus he is always korean girls' ideal type.

@hclover96 thanks for your translations always even some were not about the shipping things, that's why I like visiting this thread ^^

  6. @luluwannagohome I'm glad Choi Min Sik didn't win an award from Blue Dragon Awards lol I' m such a weird fan...I'm always like this even with my biases.

I always like his acting except in Roaring Currents.

You and I have the same taste.

I always fall for this kind of actor...Daniel Day Lewis, Joaquin Phoenix, Jane Fonda, Cate Blanchett etc. All of them are method actors, I barely fall for actors who use natural or minimal acting style while my friend prefers it but I like some of them including Meryl Streep.

That's why I like Insung and also like Ko Hyun Jung, can't describe how good she is in Queen Seondeok. Insung's acting is very similar to hers.

  7. IU sang an arrangement of The Classic OST "너에게 난 나에게 넌" or Me to you, you to me by Scenery of riding bicycle in Blue Dragon Film Awards last night.

The vid featured a special umbrella scene which is an unforgettable one of this film. This film made him well known among international fans but got bashed by critics for his acting.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EQpedjhhcs

  8. @luluwannagohome oh! You like PTA too?

"50% critics opinions" I think it is "journalists' opinions" And I bet it will go to Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun for best couple. Tbh, this couple will win in both voting and journalists' opinions sections. I used to read some Korean article, experts like Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun's chemistry the most.

The awardees are informed before attending any award ceremonies so celebitries always know they will receive any awards or not...I used to read a Korean article about it. Insung didn't attend APAN last year because he knew he wouldn't receive any award.

Just like timi said, Song Hye Hyo didn't attend last year's SBS Drama Awards But she still got best actress award.

If Insung confirms to attend SBS Drama Awards this year, it means he knows he will get an award. I'm so sure SBS will give him an award but not sure about Daesang because of Jun Ji Hyun, like I always said the Daesang of the channel not only based on the acting skills.

Maybe SBS will give the Daesang to both Jun Ji Hyun and Insung this year because his acting in IOIL is outstanding plus a tight relationship with SBS...as I said before, TWTWB was scheduled to be aired on KBS initially.

P.S. I try not to read it, dear but my point is that they made some people misunderstand...someone asked me about that word.

@timi163 I don't think it is overacted acting, just his style and I like it...if you watch Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood and Joaquin Phoenix in The Master you will understand what I said (these two are my top favorite actors)...plus his acting style and Song Hye Kyo's are completely different, especially Kim Kyu Tae's trademark directing is a close up facial expression shot.

You can still feel this unique vibe of Insung in IOIL in some scenes, the actors can't change their original acting signature...if they changed intentionally, most of them didn't do well like Choi Min Sik in Roaring Currents... he tried to act with minimal acting style but his deep acting and impassioned style disappeared in this one, that's why critics didn't compliment him highly contrasted to his previous works.

Talking about the Daesang, whether who will get the daesang, that person will be criticized...just more or less...Lee Bo Young also got some criticisms last year. Can't please everyone. I like Song Hye Kyo's and Jung Woong In's performances the most last year while this year, Insung, Jo Jae Hyun and Kim Hee Ae are outstanding the most.

P.S. For example, it would be funny if Insung have gotten the Daesang, the highest award from APAN just because Jun Ji Hyun,  Ha Ji Won didn't attend the event while he did.

Lee Jun ki got best actor award from APAN last year because he was so good in Two Weeks not because of participation in the event. He deserved the award.
  9. @luluwannagohome‌ I didn't mean it will sabotage his career, dear...Of course it won't affect his status for sure...he is one of the most famous actors in Korea and being humble works well in the country...Sure almost all of us have self doubt but I think the way he always verbally expresses it can show that kind of person (who can't balance self doubt and passion to push youself forward well) in him.

The ratings of IOIL had bothered him according to his mention in his fan meeting in Korea but he certainly changed his attitude after receiving the Daesang of APAN Awards. He really didn't think his nuanced, deep acting and this kind of role he played in IOIL (plus his top star status) are sufficient to take home any Daesang from the award circuit?

I meant to say "something" as "your own success" but not about the progression of his career... something you can't control.

"cuz Koreans are known for being humble." of course and I know about it...I like some Korean actors and directors, they are also humble but for me, they don't do it "TOO MUCH"

Maybe it because I have liked him for a long time so I get tired of this thing just like someone said to me and one of the reason I get annoyed by it is that some people misinterpret it to support their belief.

I admit I really get annoyed with his acceptance speech at APAN Awards.

That's why I said before, I know the thing I said is contrasted with most of his fans' s and I know his humility is something you are proud of.

Btw, welcome back to this thread and thanks for always posting everything ( Yoo Ji Tae is one of my favorites) I always respect your opinions ^^

Ahhh I forgot to say something...Dolan reminds me a little bit of Paul Thomas Anderson, one of my favorite directors.

  10. @timi163 Actually, I don't mind anyone saying something is obviously shipping things but I just get annoyed when they cross the line by taking it as facts.

I like Ku Hye Sun and Shin Min Ah too...actually, I like most of his co-workers as long as I wasn't annoyed by their fans that much because I always consider them "his friends"

Sometimes I can't blame it on the shippers that much because Insung are just always like that, he always praises his co-stars extremely (I get annoyed by him as well and if anyone wants to know how he praises his co-stars plus has so much free time, check all his interviews.) but the reactions of his co-stars' fans are different in each fandom.

If I'm not mistaken Ku Hye Sun used to mention Insung as her life's mentor, they kept in touch after that work, their friendship is cute. As I always said, Insung has many female friends and if anyone wants to know who are his friends, check it by yourself. You even are not suprised by Park Min Young.

I have been interested in Korean entertainment industry in general not only my biases' things.

P.S. Most people may consider his expression "his humility" but for me it is just "overdo" and "self doubt" which will sabotage your own success. I know this is contrasted with most of his fans' opininons but it is just like that to me.

Being humble is a good thing for sure but it also becomes too far if you use it inappropriately.

For example, Cate Blanchett also was humble about her acting and achievement for Blue Jasmine in her interview but she never gave all credits to others as if she has not deserved the awards by herself.

  11. I am always trying to overlook something but sometimes...

Twisting anything for some purpose is just...

I just read something that made me LOL

As far as I remember, Korean Media never call Won Bin-Lee Na Young and Hyun Bin-Song Hye Kyo "fashionista couple" They were just called "visual couples"

So when Korean Media call someone such as..., ... or..."a fashionista", it means that person is not a real fashionista? lol

@timi163 KMH is one of the few Korean celebs who suit a masculine style really well and SNSD's Sooyoung as well.

I have been interested in films, music and fashion so I'm kinda enjoy reading Korean articles about fashion.

  12. I should post something good about him lol

    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x27haf1_%EB%A7%88%EC%9D%B4-%EC%8B%9C%ED%81%AC%EB%A6%BF-%ED%98%B8%ED%85%94-e14-141007_lifestyle

Insung's name was mentioned in ep.14 from My Secret Hotel. start at minute 29.07

: OMO! our director, isn't he so hansome? He is one of the top three most hansome guys in the country...Kang Dong Won...Jo In Sung and Goo Hae Young (main actor in the drama)

*Just a little bit so I'm not too lazy...that's why I really appreciate people who always take time to translate long articles.

Anyone here can add all recent scripts which mentioned Insung into this one like lulu did? I'm not computer literate lol

Jo Soo Won, the director of this drama (and I Hear Your Voice) used to say he wants to work with Jo In Sung. He worked with Jo In Sung in Piano as an assistant director.

  13. I saw him crying when he received the award you posted above from A Dirty Carnival...he almost cried when receiving the Daesang at APAN Awards...Do you know the reason? I'm sure you know. His acting in these two works made him get recognized as a "real actor" the person who was bashed about his acting in the past.

The Daesang he got from APAN was his first Daesang for acting, the Daesang is the most prestigious award for actors in Korea and that's why he almost cried, the person who pushes himself hard as an actor (but has only 1 TV drama or film per year recently lol while Ha Jung Woo has 2 films a year at least and Ha Jung Woo did his best in all his works)

I think this article can explain the point I am talking about well.

The Dynamic Evolution of Jo In-Sung

    26/02/2013
Artist bird world / Editor myra

Jo In-Sung is back with , his first drama in five years.

of the scriptwriter Noh Hee Kyung is the first drama that Jo In-Sung chose after discharging his military service on May 4th, 2011. It is his first drama in 8 years after and also his first in 5 years after starring in his last film before joining the air force. Moreover, it is his new start for those who have been waiting so long for him to come back.

What would this choice mean to Jo In-Sung? Looking back his acting career, it might have been his obsession that drove him in each work he took part in. Even right before he received an award for his excellent acting in , he had to be criticized along with good looking actors due to the widespread stereotype that actors with beautiful face are usually incompetent in acting. So when he acted the gangster with tattoos all around his back wearing boxers in the film
directed by Yoo Ha, what stood out was his aspiration as an actor to escape from himself defined by such stereotype more than the acting itself. He is tall and his face is so beautiful that no other word would be able to describe this man and his smile is gorgeous enough to sway women. Maybe his beauty was a huge barrier for him to be recognized as a good actor. Because of this, when it comes to selecting dramas or films, he made choices that could change himself and make himself grow a little more. And know, he became a mature adult who would not have to worry about things he did in the past. The childish boy ‘Jung Jae Min in’ is gone and here comes ‘Osu’ who tries to commit fraud but fall in love with the blind woman ‘Oh Young(acted by Song Hye Gyo)’ who attempts to kill herself after getting sick of all the people around trying to take her property away..

“This man who can never become cold, is destined to fall in love.” says No Hee Kyung. Noh Hee Kyung says that Jo In-Sung is the most manly actor I have ever met. “He is a man who seems to be hurt but innocent at the same time so would never be able to lie.” she says. Noh Hee Kyung decided to believe him. “Before seeing him, I could not meet anybody more confident than the actress Bae Jong Ok. This man knows his weakness and tries to overcome rather than being embarrassed of it. Director Kim Kyu Tae of also praised Jo In-Sung for his excellent acting which shown his own unique style and tone. “He has an outgoing personality, but he is also sensitive enough to shed tears after listening to the lines of Song Hae Kyo. I thought he was a just a handsome actor but he was sensitive and masculine at the same time”, he says.

Director Park Guang Hyun said that he “would like to use Jo In-Sung’s already found strong points rather than trying to find new ones. That would be new itself.” There are so much more about Jo In-Sung even if we do not decorate and embellish his character. I could not wait to see him coming back to us with the winter breeze.

@blim0523 I posted these two translations on Insung thread before and you used to read it.

"Jo In Sung, Song Joong Ki , Lee Kwang Soo are Close Family"

Im Joo Hwan talks about Jo In Sung and his other personal connections.

After getting discharged from the army, Im Joo Hwan came back with SBS’s ‘Ugly Alert’ and it was known that at that time he got advice from his close brother Jo In Sung. In Newsen’s interview, he discloses what advice Jo In Sung gave. (*)It was not ‘advice’ but rather words that cleared away my worries.”

(*)In Sung hyung knew about my chance to star in the daily drama ‘Ugly Alert’ and came to give me a suggestion. He asked what I was troubled about. He wanted to let me know, saying ‘after coming out from the army, I think this will be a good project for you.’”

"He said it is a good way to raise your recognition. ‘I don’t know how ambitious you want to be but, (*) it will give you good experience. You fit the style of a daily drama, and since it can be watched every day, you can build up to give a new feeling, right?’ He said he would be anticipating that.”

He reveals his thoughts of his desire to act after seeing Jo In Sung. “As an actor, Korea’s top star, sunbae and as a close brother, I was filled with gratitude (for his words). While I was still in the army I saw (the drama) ☆‘The Winter, the Wind Blows.’ When I saw In Sung hyung’s appearance, I felt happy. Seeing his acting ignited something inside me. I thought, I also wanted to do that.”

It is known that Im Joo Hwan, Jo In Sung, Song Joong Ki and Lee Gwang Soo cheer on each other by visiting the filming sets and also see each other off when one enlists in the army. Im Joo Hwan discloses how (each of) the star’s relationships are like. “ All four of us get along well. When I enlisted, Joong Ki also came. Joong Ki and Gwang Soo both become close on a variety (show). In Sung hyung, Joong Ki and me became like a family after the movie ‘Frozen Flower.’”

To Im Joo Hwan, it is a happy thing to be ‘promoting’ his close buddies. “Joong Ki participated in “A Deep Rooted Tree’ and ‘Nice Guy’ and I felt quite emotional when I watched it, I also called Writer Lee Kyung Hee (the writer of ‘Nice Guy’) up. I said to her that I’m really grateful and feel full of pride. Joong Ki was originally really great, but as a ‘brother’ seeing Joong Ki’s cool image and seeing his drama receive so much love, that’s why I felt so proud. I explained because of our close friendship, I as a brother, wanted to express my gratitude.”

[interview] Im Joo Hwan,“ With Jo In Sung, Song Joong Ki, Lee Gwang Soo,We Can Chat Away for 4 hours”

Actor Im Joo Hwan discloses he and his close ‘brothers’ Jo In Sung, Song Joong Ki, and Lee Kwang Soo spend their free time chatting away.

On the 4th, Im Joo Hwan said in his interview with OSEN, “ The four of us, In Sungi hyung, Gwang Soo, Song Joong Ki gather like family. We talk not as ‘professional actors’ but rather as ‘siblings’.”

He talked about what they do in their free time. “ For example, if we start talking about acting or movies, we can talk about one subject for 4 hours straight.”

Furthermore, he talked about his ‘mentor’ Jo In Sung. “When I was filming my drama, In Sungi hyung asked me via text message ‘Is anything wrong?’ (*) At that time, I was physically drained out and he wanted to know in detail if anything was hurting

He further added, “ I feel that In Sung hyung is not just monitoring ‘any other’ actor’s work, but is really looking out for his ‘brother’ Im Joo Hwan.”

On the other hand, Im Joo Hwan recently starred as ‘Gong Joon Soo’ in SBS’s daily drama ‘Ugly Alert’ which ended on the 29th."

  14. The news on Febuary 11, 2013.

Song Joong Ki Jokingly Chooses Jo In Sung Over Lee Kwang Soo

On KBS’ “Celebrity News” that aired on February 9, actor Song Joong Ki was interviewed at his pictorial photo shoot.

During the interview, the reporter told Song Joong Ki, “Lee Kwang Soo said that if both Jo In Sung and you called for him at the same time, he would go to Jo In Sung.”

To this, Song Joong Ki answered jokingly, “Then in the same situation, I will go to Jo In Sung too. I will meet Lee Kwang Soo there.”

Song Joong Ki then stated how he felt bad about teasing Lee Kwang Soo for not receiving any award at the end of last year. He said, “If you were hurt by my words, I apologize.”

    Cr: Soompi

Anyone here has a vid he mentioned Ko Hyun Jung, Cha Tae Hyun, Lee Kwang Soo and Song Joong Ki when he received the award at SBS Drama Awards last year? I'm too lazy to look up that vid lol

@Se17 I really appreciate your work of posting his pics on this thread...We all have someone who is really good at posting photos of his right now :x

  15. I think I will post about his fashion sense on this thread more often than before, I think some people who started liking him from IOIL cross the line by saying something like they know everything about him than his longtime fans such as "we all know that he was not a fashionista"

    http://daily.hankooki.com/lpage/entv/201412/dh20141209100123139020.htm

lol he is not a fashionista but Korean media call Jo In Sung and Kim Min Hee "fashionista couple"

I think this is the last time I have a chance to talk about Kim Min Hee on this thread (who know maybe they will be back together in the future lol) since I posted this last year.

    Top three fashionista couple image-4613_5488F681.jpg

@ blim0523 "seems like his acceptance speech in APAN is hinting that it would take a while for him to do another project" seems like you are right because he has so much free time to appear here and there but has no time to pick next acting work projects lol watch out! Insunger, he is AN ACTOR who will be criticized like Won Bin lol

I think I can watch his ex's next project sooner (with a good storyline) than he does...wish Kim Min Hee all the best, her next project will be Park Chan Wook's work (one of the most renowed Korean director and my favorites) She is worthy to receive all the best including a lover lol she can prove herself to those insults.

I wonder if I am his fan or his anti-fan lol I'm so straightforward sometimes but I never express something out without acknowledgement of information about him especially if you claim yourself as his fan and I really appreciate that @ lulu can stand my words sometimes because she is so kind to Insung.

    - edited OMO many typos, I typed "@ lulu can't stand my words" instead of "@ lulu can stand my words" which I wanted to say before I changed it..@ lulu is so kind to me even I really criticized Insung sometimes.
