Yeah I skipped a lot to get to their parts and on Ep.30 now. I had no idea they were childhood friends or that she had a crush on him since she was a teen? I wished we could've seen a bit of that cause the way he put a ring on her seemed to come out from nowhere lol. But her saying that she knew him since she was a kid helped explained it a bit even if the prior episodes didn't really show that they had a long history. I'm also loving the half-sibling secret relationship with Amber and You Xi. Can't wait till the secret is out.

Anyone know if Vengo is mixed with a little Uyghur or something else? He doesn't quite look full like Dilraba but he doesn't look fully Chinese either.

The drama is a mess through & through. It was pretty much put of the blue that he finally realized she's the one for him. The only rationale is that at his darkest hour she was the one who held his hand & encouraged him. I don't think he is truly in love with her yet at that point. But more like he slowly fell in love with her the more they are together.

Nooo!!! Don't say that please :bawling: I'm still hoping for happy ending :confounded:

I must say I'm not impressed by the book because like you've said FJ keeps throwing herself eventough DH keeps hurting her (I know he did make up but I still feel annoyed) so I put my expectation to their story in drama will be much better with all the changed -_-

True to that and he acts really well. If the one that played DH don't have acting ability eventough he's handsome I'm sure we all will want to strangle him

No that's not really the case. It' more like DH keep on bothering her because FJ is just so darn cute and amusing! She brought color to his life. It is true that FJ went through many trials for DH, similar to the drama. She was his pet, his concubine in the mortal and also sent her shadow to protect his shadow. But all these events happened during the period DH doesn't even know her yet. The PB started after all these trials. The count of event is sort of like this drama. It didn't really go in order. The past events were only mentioned. PB started with DH and FJ finally officially meeting each other again. FJ pretty much backed away and already sort of move on, but ironically fate keep on interfering and constantly thrown them together. It also doesn't help that DH kept on bothering her because he's amused by her. Basically, PB Part 1 FJ is like an adorable pet to DH. He didn't know all the sacrifices FJ did made for him. Book 2 is when you see the romantic DH 2. He finally found out how much FJ sacrificed for him and he finally realizes how much he loves FJ and doesn't want to lose her. Don't judge their love story based on this bad rendition of their love story. I really like YH, but personally for me, DH is my absolute favorite. His shameless personality is his trademarks.

I watched another preview which DH said to the other to not tell FJ that he comes. Things already like this did he still want to keep avoiding? Or he will find a way from them to be together? :(

They are doomed in this version. Just think of it as a tragic love. So it looks like everyone has to go through a mortal trial before they reached a higher level. Doesn't FJ has to go through that trial at one point?

Well I don't think FJ should let go. DH in the novel is differently attractive, but I like DH in the drama as well. At least, FJ knows that DH has feelings for her. I find she is so brave fighting for her love. It is her own choice.

Btw, I am biased because DH/Vengao is so handsome. Haha.

I also love Vengao's version of DH. It suit him so well and his chemistry with Dilabra is amazing! Their chemistry with each other in Vlove was also amazing. After this I hope they will give him a leading role.

Isn't it funny that in both dramas, it's Dilabra's character that always liked Vengao's character first? And in both, he didn't know what he missed until he almost lost her. I still hope that Vengo is going to be in the LiRuge with Dilabra.

Yeah, that's true.  I always believed too that he thought she was cute but I also felt that he thought she was passionate and pure.  Did not have any malicious intent andwas interesting.  Not to mention, kept him on his toes.

I did love thought when FJ did walk away from him or questioned their future, and then seeing DH getting all frantic and sad over it.

As for the indifferent part, hehe, well, maybe that was just my take on him at times in bk1 because he was more uptight and guarded around the character of FJ and seemed uncaring at times.  But I do agree also now that he also wasn't completely because he did have his moments.

I think one of my favorite parts in PB was when DH got jealous of Xiao Yan( ?) when FJ knew his food preferences and threw a plate(or some kind of object, I forget what) at him eventually because he was jealous.  I don't know why but it cracked me up to see DH resort to acting like a child.

Probably because the image of a ruler of the universe be all petty is just not the image most people would have. But only close friends would know that part of him.

I'm going to post some FJ and DH spoilers (in a spoiler tag of course) in this so that you guys can see where their future lies in Pillow Book....

I know a lot of u are annoyed with FJ and I can get why you can be like that, but I actually like the tenacity of her love for DH.  Sure, she does need to learn how to lose some battles when it comes to him, but, I think for someone like DH, what he himself may not think he wants is actually what he may need.  Hence, I think FJ is perfect for him.

For those of you who have read Pillowbook like me, which is DH and FJ's story, you should know just how much of FJ's unwavering love, patience, loyalty, sacrifice, and perseverance can even attest to the impossible in her quest to win over what Xiao Yan affectionately calls "Ice Face" a.k.a DH.

If you'd like to know some of what happens in that story, here you go.

      Reveal hidden contents

How long is Pillowbook (DH/FJ's story):  It is broken into two books and depending on where you read it, it can depend in length.

Does DH continue to treat FJ coldy/badly:  In book one, yes.  But not in book 2.

Is there any other w/m love interests?: Yes, but none of which our main characters reciprocate

Does FJ ever give up on DH/walk away?: Yes, and here is where the tables turn and it is DH pursuing and even more so getting mega protective over FJ.

Does FJ ever grow up:  Yes, she definitely grows and matures greatly throughout this novel in its entirety.

Does DH ever get his own medicine when it comes to FJ:   Yes.  In bk1, he was cold and indifferent to her.  But in bk2, we see a TREMENDOUS change in DH and we see him chasing after FJ and going through all kinds of trials and tribulations trying to reconnect with her and win back her love.  He even defies their original fated line and ignores it because no matter how hard he tries, he loves FJ so much and will not care whether fate says they are destined or not.

Was DH ever attracted to FJ from the beginning: I can't remember all of the details on this, but I do know that DH always thought that FJ was a pretty girl.  But as he gets to know her and fall for her, he even admits that he thinks that she is beautiful and will be even more so as she gets older.

Does DH change personality wise:  Yes, his character does evolve a lot for the better.  He is still very much like his normal self, but you can also see with his words and subtle actions how much he has changed and sincerely loves FJ.  He becomes obsessive, jealous, petty, reckless at times, affectionate, and even romantic.  Not to the point though that you feel that DH's character is diminished and you think that his character is ruined.  I'm just summarizing things of which I had noticed.

DH clearly in book 2 finally opens his eyes to FJ and realizes how much he can no longer fight off the pull she has on him and realizes how empty he feels without her.  She is his missing half and everything he is not, so she balances him.   It was also nice to see him actually get impressed/proud of FJ at times because compared to the other girls who liked him, FJ became more self-reliant and matured greatly throughout and didn't depend on him for everything.  DH even stated that he didn't like useless people and admired that FJ could do things for herself and would even take care of him and protect him even.  He was particularly fond of her cooking and didn't like sharing! lol

Was DH from a prestigous family/have a high family background?:  Contrary to what you may think, no. That was actually one of the things that FJ's family objected on.  They wanted someone from a high background, who had power, who didn't fight.  DH may have been the lord of the heavens before, but he was an orphan who was always alone until he was taken in out of charity, he has no actual power since he was no longer ruler, and he is an excellent and unparalled fighter.

When he meets FJ, he finally gets a family.  Something he has never had.

Is there any love/romantic scenes or anything between them: Yes

Do they get a HEA:  Yes, and more! :)

If you guys have any more questions on this couple you are welcome to PM me.  I literally just finished reading this book last night so the details are still fresh in my mind and will also be happy to point out on how to read this story in english in a message. :D

As for the drama version of DH and FJ:  I love the portrayal of FJ.  I think she is fine.  As for DH, personally to me, in the drama version, I do think that DH does have feelings for FJ.  Come on, for someone who does not give a smidge of time for anyone, no less let anybody touch him, he sure lets FJ get away with all of that.  Sure, she can be overbearing but no matter how much Dh may say he is not interested, you can see in his eyes and small actions that he does.  Body language does not lie my friends and we all know that DH will not do or let anything happen to him that he does not want.  Come on now.

FJ whether in the drama or novel, they are both extremely cute for sure. I believe it was due to her cute personality that attracted DH. For the most part, he was drawn to her animated personality. FJ novel also went through many obstacles and against all fate to be with DH. But the difference between drama and novel is that FJ novel knows when to give up.I don't think DH has ever been indifferent to FJ in the novel. Maybe before they met again, but definitely not after their meeting. I would say more he treated her like his favorite pet, someone there for him to play with and amuse him, and one he definitely does not like to share in any aspects. That is one common thing between DH drama & novel. They both don't like to share. Remember the part where DH drama snapped at Siming for holding baby fox FJ?

But it is true, the true romance didn't happen until Book 2. That's when you get to see the desperate and romantic sides of DH. He paid back every single sacrifice FJ ever did for him. One of the biggest reasons why I love PB so much is because the humour and the angst parts really balance out. The funny part is really funny, the heartbreak really breaks your heart. The funny part of FJ worrying that DH is not prestigious enough for her family is hilarious because her family thought the complete opposite. Their hesitation with DH is that he's too powerful and worries that he will bully her and no one can say anything because his position is too high.

  7. I agree FJ is just plain action is just plain annoying right now. But DH action is not helping. On one hand he is rejecting her like crazy, and on the other hand, his gestures doesn't match with his words. He rejected her but still comes to see her & made all these 'love like' gestures like caressing her face , kissing her forehead, & being protective. That is not helping the situation. If he has already made his decision, then he should be clear with his actions as well as words so that she will have no hope whatsoever.

I know they can't do anything with DH&FJ because of copy write, but they didn't have to destroy their love either. They should have shift the couple to other characters.

I think other productions will have a hard time casting DH & FJ. Despite how the writer did their best to destroyed them in this version, but the chemistry & the acting of DH & FJ is so spot on that when people think of DH & FJ, they think of Dilabra & Vengo.

I don't know why the writer decided to recreate completely different version of Fengjiu and Donghua for this drama. I am also a bit frustrated by her actions, but at some point I try to understand her actions. Unlike their storylines in PB books, the drama version of Fengjiu has more memorable moments together. They spent more than 10 years as husband and wife. I believe she's still hanging on that memories.

There is a section from PB when Xie Guchou visited Fengjiu,

“Xie Guchou lightly said, “Saving you took little effort. Under that situation, His Majesty would lend a helping hand no matter who it was.” He sighed, “The good memories of him are only so little? Fengjiu, then how many bad memories were there?”

I really like God of the underworld in PB! He & warrior yan yiwu are such some awesome characters! I have to say PB have so many awesome male characters!

  9. I totally agree about FJ. Right now, she is just pure desperate. Why is it all these women can't accept the word NO? If it wasn't for Dilabra, I would have hate her character. FJ from the novel is so much better. She tried no less harder than the drama version, but she has a limit. I swear to god it's like the writer is doing this out of their hatred for the couple. They tried to destroy this could image in every way possible.

Beautifully said. And it's so hard, and you can see that though love is great, it can destroy one's self as well.

Its so so hard to let go especially when you love someone so much. It broke my heart when FJ dad asked DH to marry her. Our FJ can be a bit stubborn and many people can be stubborn when they are in love but to me, even if DH was my world, I would've given up on him if my dad asked him to marry me and he said no.

I would feel that it's time to let go. And I hope she does (because in PB, she does try to forget about him). But then again, though spoilers for their ending is out, I really hope DH runs back to her

I also think it's time for her to let go. I don't need a happy ending for them. I just want a chance for FJ to reject DH. It should be her turn so that he finally understand how she feels when he rejecred her. They can't have a happy ending because this not their time.

That's probably the only good thing they have. Now, I am 100% sure that the spoilers are right and the ending will be something that I'd like to wipe out from my memory.

I think at this point, a happy ending for them is too forced. Re-read the PB. It really helps. I'm also re-watching vlove, their modern less epic version. In that drama,  Dilabra is also the one that liked him first. He finally gave her a chance after his two failed relationships. Yes, she was his last relationship because he finally realized that she was the only one that is most suited & compatible with him. It doesn't sound romantic but their chemistry is amazing.

After watching today's episode, I agree that FJ should have just moved on with her life. She has tried her best through every opportunities that she had. I blame the writer for my sinking ship!

I really like what they did with YH & BQ. But I absolutely hate them for what they did to DH & FJ. The only thing I thank them for is casting Dilabra & Vengo.

I have to say the patents from the fox clans are like 1000X better than the celestial clan. They put their children happiness first before anything else. Take FJ dad for example. Such a strict & proud man, but for the sake of his daughter's happiness, he had to personally seeked out DH for his daughter's happiness. If it was the celestial clan, they would probably buried her 1000 feet under before thar would happen. I really like her dad.

@faythe: what emotional eps tonight for dh/fj shippers. 2 things are on my mind: 1-Dilraba is cute to the max, with all the lovey dovey hugging, faking injury things; 2-So finally is DH moved? What kind of feeling he has for her? He keeps saying harsh things, pushing her away but his eyes are so sad while she's gone. When he thought she was injured, he was so caring to ask who made her like that. Why the writer makes dh so uncertain about his feeling? *still scratching my head*.

Up to this point, I already give up on DH (drama) and only watch what's left between them. After the cutting tails and carving name thing, I don't think there will be any major event between them. Towards the end DH seems not to change his mind, such a hopeless ending to such a nice couple.

Okay but I have to admit Vengo is getting better and better portraying DH. Despite being stolen the spirit of DH book, Vengo shows the other parts of DH book very well. And Dilraba, can't think of anyone as FJ as perfect as she is doing now.

I love Vengo portrayal of DH. DH indecisiveness is not Vengo fault. I blame that solely on the writer because he/she only want one couple to shine. I think if it was someone else playing DH, I would probably wish him din a thousand death. What I like about Vengo DH is that his physique is exactly what you imagine DH to be, tall good looking & intimidating.  His chemistry with Dilraba obviously escalate my love for them to another level.

But I agree. At this point I gave up on DH in the romance dept. FJ Needs to stop obsessing & learn how to let go like her FJ from the novel. I will skip their scenes. At this point it's just embarrassingto watch FJ throwing herself at DH. She should learn from her aunt. She's embarrassing her whole clan.

  14. At this point, someone needs to slap some sense into FJ. She needs to let it go. She already has thrown herself enough & DH is not changing his mind. If a man truly loves a woman, he will put up a fight for her. DH has straight out reject her again & again & she is still not getting it. Move on. This part, I like the FJ in the novel more. She tried her best but know when to give up. I think I will just ff theur scenes.

But I really hope to see them as a couple again. I'm rewatching VLove again just for them. They're like the only couple that stayed together in the end.

  15. I think MY and BQ is like DH and FJ, that they have no fate with each other. Given time, chance and little fate, they could have something. MY is especially doting to BQ, but it's not all one-sided. BQ also treat MY quite differently from everyone else's. Yes, she respects him like an elder, but there's something more. Like LJ said, everything that comes out of her mouth is Shifu this, shifu that. Actually BQ is not someone that likes physical contact with others that much. But she has no hesitation in acting spoiled with MY or jumped into his arms. But fate is not with them. Fate is with her and YH. I don''t feel that bad for MY because I don't think his feelings are that deep yet, maybe a little regret. Same with DH. He does feel something for FJ, but his feelings are not deep to the point that he wants to act on it or fight for it. I think even if he hasn't lost his power, he would still reject FJ (drama wise) because they weren't destined for each other in the book of fate.

@kimlary1234 RIGHT!!! They used DH while he wasn't there!! If DH finds out, do you know the consequences??!!

I love how they portray ShiMing in this drama. In the book, he's too reserved and very quiet.  At least in this drama, he is as mischievous as Lian Song..and he is besties with FJ and MQ. :D

      Hide contents

I don't know if anybody caught the part when FJ was still a mortal and in jail..It seems that SM started having feelings for her..but he quickly kicked himself in the richard simmons and got out of that one quickly.  What would DH do if he finds out?!!!

Actually, nothing would happen. Because if DH was there, he wouldn't let YH do anything to FJ. Even though DH may not like FJ that much (drama wise), but he is still protective of FJ. Remember the part where DH punished SJ for hurting baby fox FJ? Also it was lucky for YH that they prevented it from happening, because if YH did hurt FJ, there might be a big issue with DH and BQ. I think to DH, she's a kind and cute little fox. He knows that she would never intentionally cause harm to anyone, unlike some crazy women.

me toooooo..... hopefully some company make their version of story... to continue my DH&FJ fixed.... cannot get enough of them too :)

It depends on the castings. If it's the rumour castings, I would rather they leave it alone. Having one destroyed version is enough. I don't want a second horrible version to destroy the awesomeness of DH & FJ.

At this point, FJ should just let go. Clearly the guy is not that into her, drama wise. He's too wishy washy about his feelings. He rejects her, but always sheild her from everything which confuses her & gave her hope everytime. It's time to move on & find herself another version of the emperor who loved her dearly.

Now everytime I read the pillow book. I always imagine Donghua Dijun Vengao and Fengjiu Dilireba.

Including Yangmi Bai Qian and Marc Chao Yehua :) and the rest of all casts...

I love the pool scenes in the book, when 3rd Prince Liansong barge in and said sorry, he found Fengjiu and Donghua were taking bath in the same pool (accidentally)....lol page 36th to 39th  Fengjiu thought no one in the pool but Donghua was already in the other side lol...

And when she want to retread her belonging from Donghua right in the middle of his meeting with new Gods. lol

Did he give her new white jade pin?

    8

I remembered that scene. He was in no hurry to return her stuff.

I think so. For some reasons, he didn't like her pin so he changed it to another one.
