I agree with your sentiments: TY is being rather useless and HS is definitely a mama's boy. What I was saying before was not disagreeing about TY and HS's lack of balls (for lack of a better term because they really do need to man up), but that needing the approval of one's family is not irrational. The writers of this particular drama are taking a different path from that of the male leads of most dramas like Lovers in Paris and even Pure 19 where the males stand strong right from the beginning as ahoxan said below. Although the families are being pinheads, blame should be put on TY and HS's weak personalities rather than just the fact that the two of them were unable to break from their family's wishes because that part is pretty necessary and more understandable then their other actions. The family's approval is a cultural thing which few are really able to break away from, but how HS and TY act like lame ducks is a personality thing where they alone hold the blame. Like how HS's mom threw wine on SB, as mad as we were about that, a lot of us were MORE mad that HS just STOOD there and didn't even say or do anything. From HS's mom's perspective, she found the girl who was paid to date her son in his ROOM of all places so her anger could be justified if it came down to it (her actions are something else altogether), but the fact that HS just stood there like a statue isn't excusable or forgivable.

TP is a good example of someone who would never let anyone speak ill of the people he cared about. He's character is a lot of things, but he's definitely the type who would protect SB through anything and everything that tried to take her down. In this aspect, TY has a lot to learn from his younger brother and HS from his rival.
I agree that HS was pretty much useless at that point. His mother was completely out of line. To give him credit, his mom throwing wine at SB was out of the blue. But can he not tell his mom that she was wrong afterward? If he did, then I missed that part.
As for TY, if can't go against his mother's wishes then he should leave SY alone. Yes, she made a mistake when she was young, but that doesn't define her as a person. She's a good person, who happens to love their son alot. Because of her mistake, it made her to be a stronger person. Atleast much stronger than her son, who got fired because of love. Look how well she raised YH. On top of that, her family is in a better financial situation than TY's family. Do they really have any rights to cast stone? This is what I called karma. What goes around, comes around. She's looking down at SY, and her sister-in-law is looking down at them.

^Like said, it IS a cultural thing and not just in Korea, but many other parts of Asia as well. It's always been that way and although it isn't as bad in some places nowadays, it's still there. Even in the U.S., Asian American families (like my own) feel the pressure of having to gain our parents approval before we marry. It's especially the case in family's that are raised in strong Asian-influenced upbringings (and usually families who have money as well) so it's not completely unreasonable as to see why although both HS and TY are miserable, that they followed their family's wishes.
It just really depends on how the person reacts to it. I know a girl who dated someone she knew her father would not approve of and when he found out, he hired a private investigator to find out everything about the guy. He told his daughter that if she did not stop seeing him and go back home (to Taiwan), he would hire someone to permanently remove the man from her life and force her back home himself. She ended up running away with her boyfriend and in turn, her father disowned her and now she isn't even allowed to be within a certain distance of her father's home. A lot of my older cousins also never dated anyone that their parents did not mention or introduce to them first as well. A lot of us kids raised outside of hardcore Asian traditions (as in not raised in some part of Asia in general) don't always get the same mentalities stamped into our heads the way the kids over there do. Notice how HS's mom would nearly get heart attacks when HS started to talk back to her? Same concept; there are just things that kids don't do to their parents because of the culture they are raised in. Kids in the U.S. talk back to their parents ALL the time (which is one downfall Asian people see in raising their kids in the states.) Marriage isn't between two people in Asia, it's between two families so family approval is very important. It's very conservative and traditional, but hey, most Asian countries are still very tradition and conservative in general.
Although it's frustrating to see HS and TY's character not stand up to their families, it's more that they are so wishy-washy and weak that is irritating. It's more that about the way they are giving up since we've all seen dramas where although the guy knows his family won't accept the girl he choses, the couple is persistent about it until eventually their families do accept. HS and TY aren't doing that. -__- (But then again, we have to remember that they are/were constantly getting rejected by the girls they love.)
I understand that it's the way of most asian culture, but what I don't understand is that how they can just stand there and let their parents insult and humiliate the women they claim to love. Even though it's a cultural thing, but it doesn't mean that the guy has to be so helpless. Has anyone ever seen "Lovers in Paris"? The family hates the main girl too, but the main guy was very decisive and manly about his choice. His family couldn't force him to marry the girl they wanted him to marry nor made him part with the girl he loves.
As for TY, I still find him very childish. He's a grown man, and he doesn't even know how to separate between personal and business life. Being heartbroken is a natural thing, but to the point that he had to get himself fired from work? What does that do? It will just makes his family even more against SY. They will just blame his irrational action on her. I don't think that TY is mature enough to get married. As for HS, he's not incentive enough to put up with his family. His dad is ok, but his mother and sister are like the two worst snobbish she-demons on earth. It would be a nightmare for SB to live with them.

I find TY so childish and useless. He's in his mid thirties. Does he really needs his family's approval to who he marries? I mean, it would be great if they approve/likes her, but is it really necessary? He and HS are so much alike. They can't do anything for the person they like. They can only stand there and let the family insult, humiliate and degrade the person they claim to love. Why can't TY move out? He's a professor forgodske. I'm sure he makes enough money to support himself. I wonder if TP would be that helpless. Just say, he wants to get together with SB and she accepts him, but his family disapprove. I wonder what would he do?
I think that BJ is going to stab SB in the back again. She's a very weak character. She's easily moved by pressure. On top of that the guy she likes, also likes SB. She's going to be mad and jealous. We already knew that it didn't take much for her to betray SB.

Bokjoo is the suckiest friend ever. It was wrong of her to run off with the money. I don't give a crap whether she needed it for her brother, leaving her friend homeless is just wrong. D: Although it sounds mean, Bokjoos brother should be in jail for what he did. Why does Bokjoo need to bail him out with THEIR money? Psh. AND HOW DARE SHE LIE TO TAEPOONG ABOUT THAT. UGH. And when she cried at the motel, I wanted to slap her face so bad. Bokjoo is on my list of hated people along with Soobin and them. -.-
I totally agree that that BJ is the worst friend ever. I find her more disgusting than Soobin. Atleast Soobin blatantly showed that she hates SB. Whereas BJ used her friendship with SB to stab her when she's at her worst. And she doesn't even seems like she truly feels sorry for what she had done. If she sincerely felt sorry, she would not have lied to TP about it. She should own up to her actions like a decent and responsible person. Does she really think that TP wouldn't find out about it later on? I feel bad for SB that she doesn't have any true female friends. Maybe she will be friends with YH later on. Atleast YH is nice.
TP and BJ is a complete mismatch in every single way. TP may be an immature loudmouth, but atleast he's honest and decent.

I love TP. He's so cute. I hope that SB will be with TP and that the only reason they broke up is because she's his sister. I don't want SB to dump TP because of Hose. Honestly, I think that HS is suitable for Soobin.

Yes, it was for her brother. It's not wrong to borrow SB's money for her brother. But it was completely wrong of her to took it behind SB's back and left with it. She didn't even leave SB any note whatsoever or even any money left. SB was homeless and defenseless because of her. Atleast she expected it from Soobin, but she had never once suspected that her best friend would stab her back like that.

Honestly, I don't see how TP can possibly fall for SB's friend. Forget the fact that she's not the least bit attractive, her personality is just as bad. There are no excuse in this world is good enough for her to betrayed her best friend like that, leaving SB homeless and defenseless. She should understand her friend better. If she had been honest with SB, there's no doubt that SB would lend her the money. Atleast with Soobin, SB knows that she hates her. I don't think that SB would ever thought that her best friend would betrayed her.

That's quite logic.
The story is still in the process, they like to add drama and if Yuri likes Taepoong, she'd be as possessive as Soobin was to Hose and they'd make an alliance to ruin Saebyuk's life. Since Yuri worships Soobin already, I don't see how they would not get along.
The only thing is Soobin wants Hose and Saebyuk apart, and Yuri, Taepoong and Saebyuk apart. Maybe it'd be the contrary since there's high chances that if Saebyuk doesn't get with the right guy, she'll go to the other one and Soobin or Yuri will get even angrier.
Geez, so much drama, getting confused here.
Oh yes. I can totally picture the two witches getting together to make their nemesis (SB) miserable. Even though it's pretty given that SB will end up with HS, I still want her to end up with TP. He's a better person when he's around her. He needs her more than HS. HS is a mama's boy. He doesn't need SB. He'll just do whatever his mom wants him to do. I think SB would be pretty miserable being married into that family. HS's mother is a world class witch. She's arrogant, snobby, loud, nosy, and completely unreasonable. I can't pic TP being married into that family either.

I think that TP will end up with YH. He can't be with SB because there is a high chance that they are siblings. And I just can't see him with Yuri. Atleast YH is nice.

Hmm... interesting. Also, in the later episodes when SB starts living w/ the family, it seems that SB and the mom has a lot in common (they both like the same food and sleep w/ their socks on at night). If that is to be true than SB can't be together w/ Taepoong romantically.
Also, didn't someone already say that the lost child was a boy?
For now, I kind of sympathize w/ Hose. I think if SB was to say that she likes him back, then he'd be willing to risk going against his mom and Soobin for her. However, since she keeps rejecting him and telling him straight out that she has no interest in dating him, then I guess he has the right to move on (but not really, since we know he still likes her over Soobin).
If TP is going to lose to HS, I would rather it be because TP/SB is related. It would mean that the only reason why SB can't be with TP because they are sibling, and not because she has no feelings for him. Maybe TP will be with YS's daughter in the end. She's much nicer than Yuri.

There is pretty much nothing Ho Sae can do to change Sae Byuk's mind at the moment. The more he pressures her the more hurt she will become because of his mom and Soo Bin's mom, Soo Bin and the grandmother.
Sae Byuk must be ready herself to deal with all those people first before she can accept him. There's not much he can do at the moment without looking like a stalker. I believes that he thinks that she really doesn't like him and that he always sees her with TP, he feels he has lost everything.
I'm more frustrated with Sae Byuk then with Ho Sae because of the mere fact that he told her he like her and wanted to date her but she denied it even when she is hurting. She likes him and isn't willing to following her heart. I want Sae Byuk to be strong and fight for what she wants and not worry so much about others. I'm sure Na Young's mom will not stop her, she might be worried for Sae Byuk because of Ho Sae's mom but she won't condemn her for it.
Come on Sae Byuk be strong and following your heart. It really does take two to tango and without you Ho Sae just looks weird dancing alone.
I see what you mean, but is HS really worth it enough for her to deal with his family? If she marry him, she will have to deal with demon family and his mother will ALWAYS interfere. She's better off with TP.

I don't like the fact that SB is such a push over. Doesn't she knows how to defend herself? It seems like she just let anyone slap/push her, without protecting herself. Soobin is right that YS is not always going to be able to protect her. What happens if HS/TP/YS is not there to protect her? Right at the moment, I consider SB's character to be weak.
Yoona is not bad for her first main role, but like someone said, she still lacks certain emotions on her face. She is suppose to like HS, but her expression just doesn't seem like it, even while they were dating. If it wasn't for the monolog, you can't tell that she likes him.

If the producer decided to take the route of SB TP's sister, it will be very devastating for TP. I can see already that TP is going to fall HARD for SB. I would really rather TP to be single in the end then ending up with HS's sister. That's just wrong. TP doesn't deserve that cruel punishment.

You are correct. SB will end up with HS because it has been stated that TP will only treat her as a 'sister'(that part is around the site somewhere) therefore she will end up with HS at the end. But for now we get a little TP, HS and SB triangle going on.
But so far ppl aren't liking HS' acting skills.
I think that SB will end up with HS too because he's the main guy. But I don't think that TP treats SB like a sister. He's already showing signs of liking SB in a romantic way. Blushing and flustered when they have physical contact.

HS is such a wuss!. Why does he have to do everything that his mother wants him to do. Forget the fact that he likes SB. Even without SB, he doesn't even like Soobin. Not even from the beginning. Why is he dating her if he doesn't even like her? He doesn't even like her as a person, much less as a girlfriend. He apologized to her because she felt uncomfortable? What about SB? She was the one that was heavily humiliated by his family, who's supposed to be well educated and mannered. To me, they don't even have class much less manner.
TP act so much more like a man than HS. Atleast he can stand up to his parents.

I double agree with that. I hope to God that TP won't end up with Yuri. She's a spoiled little brat. I would rather TP end up alone and pining for SB than ending up with Yuri. Like I said before, SB would have an extremely hard life living with HS's family. She's better off marrying to TP, since everyone already loves her.

I feel bad for HS in ep. 30, when SB instinctive helped HS wipe the water. He gave her such a longing look. It was like he was hoping that action meant that she likes him. That scene on the bus with TP and SB was really cute. TP was smiling right after. I think that he already kind of likes her but doesn't realized it yet. I think that SB would have an easier life with TP than HS. TP's family already likes her and pretty much considered as part of the family. I think that they would be very happy if SB marries TP. HS's dad is very nice. I don't think that it would take much effort to win him over. But his mother is a different story. She's uptight, controlling and very very snotty. It would be a nightmare to have to live with a mother in-law like that. HS's sister is like a little replica of his mother. She's just as snotty as her mother, judging from that one scene with SB. SB will not have an easy life living with HS's mother and sister, and most likely, HS's mother will interfere with their marriage as well.

So I've read people's predictions on whom ends up with whom -even though all daily dramas are pretty predictable -the predictions are interesting.
However I must address the little topic about SaeByuk being Taepoong's sister who "supposedly" died... I think that this wouldn't happen. One of the main reasons is that because there is a love triangle between SB-TP-Hose, they would not allow TP to fall in love with SB. WHY? incest is pretty much taboo in every country. Korea is especially one of those traditionnal countries and I'm not talking about the medieval times where it was okay to marry your sister or brother or cousin.
The topic of incest is really not liked and so that is why SB would NOT be his little sister.
I do believe however that, although SB and TP are having many scenes together and it is obvious that TP kind of, sort of, is on the verge of liking her, we all know the formula of daily dramas. In the end, SB will be with Hose.
That is of course bound to happen unless the writers change their minds and decide to surprise us.
Actually, incest kind of story more likely to happen in Korean dramas than others. Like Damo, Ireland, One Fine Day, Autumn Love Story.
I do agree that in the end it's going to be SB/HS.

I think that there will be somewhat of a square love tangle between TP/SB/Soobin/HS. Judging from the last 3 previous eps and the preview for ep. 30, it looks like TP is in the midst of liking SB. I don't know if SB will reciprocate or not, but TP is definitely going to like SB.

I really really like this serie. I really like the main couple, GW and YH. They have nice chemistry together. I like the character YH. I like the fact that he's so tenacious and persistent. He doesn't give up no matter what. It's so rare to see a character like him. He has such unconditional love and trust in GW. I also like the fact that he didn't let GW run away from her feelings. He gave up everything for her without a single regret. Unlike other heroins in most dramas, who only knows how to pleade and mumble before his parents, YH faced his parents firmly and dared to tell them that they are wrong.
