I have read some discussion pages ago that at least the boys would be bisexual if not gay. If they both were attracted to their previous gfs physically at least. I just somehow feel a bit insulted to read that particular sentence. I mean, what's wrong if they're indeed gay? (The characters I mean). Is it because writing them as pure gay will be a big no no since even the bl themed was banned and maybe if it's pure gay movie of boys in their adolescene coming of age  perhaps a bit too much for the society? well, the answer is yes, lol. i always remind myself that bl is written by straight people for straight people. bl doesnt even qualify as queer literature, its a very unique genre by itself. i recently watched the gaycation documentary on vice (hosted by the lovely and queer ellen page) and they even discussed how the big bl culture in japan can negatively impact the queer community. there are a lot of coming of age stories and movies about gay teenagers around; that's legit queer media. but that's not what addicted is

anyway, this "straight guys go gay" plot is easily the most common bl trope (along with rape...) so when reading bl stories i always gotta suspend my beliefs. i cut cjd some slack though, bc while she wrote that they are not attracted to any other male, they are also no longer attracted to any female (which is better than i can say for some other bl characters who still act like lady killers on the prowl...). hence this "straight man" ended up being celibate for 8 years. so i get why if he's not interested in watching gay porn or seeing/reading anything thats not about bly. i doubt straight/lesbian porn would have perked his interest at that point

although its definitely not uncommon in real life for bi people to identify as straight and think to themselves "its just this one girl/guy...". bc no matter where you come from, the moment you are born you are constantly bombarded with "straightness" as the default, the right way, so when you have the option, why wouldnt you identify as straight? it takes a long time to escape from that

sigh, i'm ok with lowering the CP fanbase for the greater good; individual fandoms will push them far career wise and they don't have to rely on interaction with each other forever like actors from other bl series. but i'm worried that as the individual fandoms grow strong, the feeling of competition might emerge. which is what i feel like is happening with the actor poll. the numbers between them being so huge and so tight even though there's already a gap between them and others seem like a sign...especially when the award they can win together is neglected

i know they are actors with separate careers, but i would hate that as much as i hate it when individual fandoms for a members of the same kpop group start competing.

1. At this rate I do not wish they have ss2 at all. Too much risk and negative buzz against all the actors, especially YZ.

2. Even if the series is not about BL, a lot of producers and actors still don't take web series seriously, especially those "idolic" series (series with idols acting which don't have much plot except the lavish look and lovebird story etc.). For now it's no harm to be an idol who act in a web series but keep doing so restricts their career as it deepens people's impression on you. They should find a real and bigger opportunity as soon as they can. 

3. BL is not a theme that anyone would like to be too attached to if they still want to hit big in cbiz. It can make you famous but as soon as you are famous, better run away from it to save yourself. I don't think I need further explaination for this. Its not only the government but it's the common mindset of majority audiences in China. Most of them still don't accept BL.

4. Even if they film and show in Taiwan, get support there, Taiwan is still a much smaller market than China. Its not worth throwing the whole career in China just to be active in Taiwan and South East Asia. Also do not forget they come from mainland China, being banned in their own country is not something that can be sacrificed.

5. China can ban anything and anyone. If there is someone that works bts trying to lift the ban there would also be someone who tries to keep the ban (competitors, etc.). Everything is under censorship in China so don't even try to argue the valid reason for every rule and regulation. I did mention Tang Wei and Brad Pitt in one of my previous posts as the examples of how ridiculous the ban is. "Lust Caution" received many global awards but a ban is still a ban. Support from Thailand or Korea or any other country can't help Shangyin at this point. 

6. Making ss2 is like "repeating the crime" in some sense. I don't want them to have any risk, even the smallest. A lot of other remarkable BL series like "Like Love" and "Counter Attack" has halted their production for the next season. There are still more BL series in the making, however, as soon as they make some impacts the team has to stop.

7. The more high profiled the artist is, the more symphathy and support he gets from the audiences. Huge and Wallace Huo can create bromance in iqiyi gala night without any problem. There is even plane painted their chibi together lol. So for the sake of YZ's friendship, bromance, romance, whatever it is, they have to build their individual career first. 

 

if the situation is as bad as you say, then i still want cjd to push through with s2, but with a taiwanese cast (bc i dont want the new chinese casts to become new sacrificial lambs lol). many fans of the original actors wont accept this, but i guess they would have to swallow their tears and not watch s2 bc its for the protection of their idols. 

but for me, a fan of the novel and addicted itself, it will kills me if addicted will end on that ridiculous shi hui cliffhanger. i believe addicted is cjd's baby, its her most "epic" work and she should see it through til the end even if it has to change cast and country of production.

Scandals about ZZ: Beside two main scandals of dating and plagiarism, there are other negative news around ZZ. 
1. For dating scandal, malicious news was not just about their relationship but ZZ was rumored to get paid and got his role in Addicted by sleeping with CJD. In short, he's a moneyboy. Hackers hacked their official weibo accounts to post such accusation. 
This made some CA's fans think because of favortism towards ZZ CA was put on hold (CA ss2 was supposed to be filmed in this summer). While there are fans who love and support both cps, some fans don't like the other much. 
2. For plastic surgery (double lid eye surgery), tho ZZ has already explained due to his medical condition that inherited from family, he has to go to under operation. He just chose to have double lid eye as the add-on service during this operation. This explanation is not convincing for some. People even call him "plastic surgery monster".
3. Tattoo, smoking, death metal music, shirtless photoes with only underwear (LOLOL) are seen as rebellious symbols. In some Asia countries people really look down and are on their guard with someone who has tattoo. There are also rumors of ZZ's couple tattoo with his ex (the one under his arm) that stirred some nasty richard simmons within the fandom lol. I would say his adolescent was quite thrilling imo, he had it all LOL.
4. There was some technical glitch with ZZ's weibo account. People couldn't find him through the searching. Whenever I typed XWZ, HJY's weibo appeared instead (lolol any fanfic writer here?). People who have followed ZZ' weibo found out they unfollowed him the next day without their awareness. "Walk slowly" somehow turned into a more-than-7-minute song that make the streaming even harder. Fans could not share his song in their wall, etc. Sina did not give any official statement regarding this issues and they asked fans to collect the proof, however, some of these weird behaviors were fixed after that. This created some unwanted noise towards ZZ too. 
5. His songs are not highly appreciated as its not the typical music from mainland pop ballad. I'm okay with all the constructive criticism ( I don't give high score to some of his songs too) but there are quite a lot of people who jump the gun "he calls himself a singer? he even dares release an album? all of his songs are so mediocre". 

 

first, let me just say that i really appreciate all your informative posts and straightforward povs. reading them gave me a realistic pov too, and made me ok with anything at this point. no hopes no expectations from the actors so any commitment from them is gonna pleasantly surprise me

second, that first rumor, good lord...actually all of these are really bad and stupid, except for no. 5 bc i think its ok for him to get some criticism if its towards his work (a debut from a "nobody" getting these ranks on charts must drive snobs/haters crazy lol). but all the other ones are just terrible personal attacks, and maybe this is too western-minded of me but what he does to his body is also none of their f**cking business lol

JY & ZZ may have completely different ideas, of course. JY has this cool, suave, slightly bad-boy, aura about him, which makes him popular in any case. Not to mention his profiency as a model. ZZ is more the boy-next-door type, it seems. And I'm not at all sure how much he (or JY) wants mega-fame. There's something slightly nerdy about ZZ (and I mean that in the very best of ways, I LOVE nerds like him), which sometimes make me think he might prefer to stay more low-key. But I've no idea, of course!

i totally agree that zz seems nerdy lol. he's unfashionable, wears glasses, plays all kinds of rp games, KNITS etc. everyone makes him out to be this super ambitious type just bc he's into music, is in acting school, is comfortable with crowds etc but sometimes i feel like he's just as "floaty" as jy. releasing music is definitely his dream tho (which is why he took this chance to dig up irye this old richard simmons song lol), but idk about mega stardom. just like how jy likes modeling and fashion, even if their interests are different, they both got things they are passionate about and are just trying to make a living off it. i think that's why they chose acting, bl, and addicted in the first place

One good thing is JY won't be affected due to the ban rumor or anything. Everything from the start till now only aimed for ZZ. Bad rumors against him started as early as Shangyin is aired, with high frequency. I saw comments on weibo saying they haven't watched Shangyin but among the two JY has better image, they don't know who ZZ is but keep reading all scandals about him make them totally lose interest in him. 

it baffles me that zz's image would be so bad, considering the person i actually SEE is so bright and personable. everyone who have met and worked with him only have pleasant things to say. even when he makes a mistake he immediately apologizes (considering some real heavy handed plagiarists love sweeping things under the rug). i think he stays in his lane and just does his best, but its so unfortunate that he is judged by people who have never even laid eyes on him or heard him say one word.

part 2 chapter 36 - 40

basically bly hurt his foot from training in the desert whike gh was on a business trip. when bly got hospitalized, he called gh saying "da hai, i'm dying..." and even dropped the phone on the floor for dramatic effect. gh panicked and came back to beijing, leaving all the work for yyj to deal with. bly took bandages and wrapped it all over his body. when gh walked in, bly was lying on his bed in that state. he just looked at gh and held his hand without saying anything. gh actually got so heartbroken at this sight, he went into the bathroom and cried. gh got on the bed and gently held bly while he slept. gh couldnt sleep and watched bly all night. at some point bly's body felt feverish so gh panicked and called the doctor. the doctor saw bly's bandaged body and was really confused. gh found out the truth when the doctor told gh that bly only hurt his foot. gh was angry bc bly lied, but also happy bc he realized that bly is only lying to get his attention. gh also knew that he's gonna wrapped around bly's finger for his whole life.

when bly woke up, gh decided to continue playing along and asked if he can check bly's injuries. as soon as gh touched the bandaged areas, bly pretended as if he's in pain. gh asked bly if his butt is also in pain, to which bly answered no. gh suddenly changed his tone "then i'll make it hurt!". bly figured that gh must know the truth and tried to escaped but gh grabbed him and spanked his butt.

afterwards gh stuck around to take care of bly like taking him to the bathroom and feeding him. gh asked bly about the injuries on his lips and his penis. bly admitted the truth that his army commander caused them. gh went crazy with jealousy, asking why would the commander touch his penis, claiming that bly's body belongs to him and that no one can touch it etc. etc. which made bly mad that gh is taking it out on him even though he's injured. they bickered more and more until gh tried force himself on and accidentally aggravated bly's foot injury. they had to call the doctor over. afterwards gh felt sorry, explaining that he is only worried for bly, then gave bly a blowjob. 

gh continued to stay with bly day and night until one day bly's subordinate (who i do not know the romanized chinese name so i'm gonna call him L, maybe i'll edit when someone tells me his name) showed up to visit. L idolized bly so he kept trying to take care of bly while being completely clueless to gh's anger. bly sensed trouble and tried to convince L to leave, which backfired when L insisted he has to take care of bly bc bly always take care of him. gh coldly asked L how bly took care of him. L spilled about how when they were training in the desert, bly took punishments in his place and slept with him to keep his body warm (bly did this L was really sick from a former injury). after hearing this, gh calm told L to stay with bly and left. after a few hours gh came back (get ready to enter fantasy land ladies and gents) and tied L up. gh hung him from the ceiling while placing a furnace beneath him. yes, right in the hospital room, basically torturing L using heat. bly is really mad about it but he couldnt save L bc of his foot. gh stripped down to his underwear and got into bed with bly, threatening that if bly dont behave gh will f**ck him in front of L. eventually bly couldnt take it anymore and promised gh that he will never do things for L again. that was when L was finally released afterbeing hung from the ceiling for more than 12 hours

when gh was in hk, gh and bly video called each other. gh told bly about tong zhe and how he know tz will come to his side. bly asked gh how is he so sure about that and gh replied "love at first sight". gh meant to tease bly but bly only scoffed and said that tz actually saved him, he can now get rid of gh. gh got mad from hearing that so bly teased back that gh should spank him, and even pulled his pants down. of course, at the sight of that, gh forgot everything else and begged bly to move the camera closer to his butt...

during the rescue in hk, as soon as bly saw tz, he hesitated to help tz get onto the plane. when they were jumping off, he told gh to go and share a parachute with tz. of course gh absolutely insists on going with bly. after they landed bly even told gh to go look for "that person" if he's worried. bly kept prying about how gh managed to convince tz to come along. gh wouldnt tell him (and we never find out either...)

anyway, when back in beijing, gh made tz his vp/secretary and the sole male employee in the company. he keeps tz so close that it incited yyj's jealousy

some time later, the air force scheduled offsite training for a month. bc bly will depart at night, gh planned to visit him after work. at the company, gh went to take a nap and gave his phone to tz so tz can take care of business for him. tz sat in gh's office guarding so no one can go in to bother gh. meanwhile, bly received unexpected news that his troop will have to depart hours earlier than planned. wanting to see gh one last time before he leaves, bly drove to gh's company. bly called yyj first, but tz wouldnt let yyj wake gh up. bly then called gh's phone but tz picked up and told bly gh is sleeping. bly got so upset over this he threw his phone out of the car and smashed it

when gh woke up, bly already left. he couldnt get in contact with bly at all and when he heard about bly getting turned away at the door, he already knew bly is mad at him. gh threw himself into work as a distraction but after a week, he couldnt take it anymore and he stalked his father all the way to the air force's secret training location. however, even as he waited the whole day, bly refused come out to meet him. 

after another week of no contact, gh was very depressed. tz visited gh's house and they drank alcohol together. in his drunken state gh told tz about his and bly's relationship. tz is surprised and asked if bly is mad just bc tz answered gh's phone. gh replied that bly is unreasonable, temperamental, impossibly stubborn etc. but at the same time, bly has many attractive qualities that are hard to specify. after hearing that, tz already guessed for himself that these "qualities" are largely sexual, to which gh neither confirm or deny. 

gh then lamented that he misses bly a lot but bly is so cruel to ignore him like this. tz asked, "if you are so unsatisfied, then why are you still in a relationship with him? your older brother used me as a substitute for him, why dont you also do the same?" (...yikes ) gh stared at tz for awhile and smiled "that's not a bad idea". as a test tz told gh to smoke the cigarette tz just smoked (basically an indirect kiss, like sharing utensils. remember how gh doesnt do that with anyone except bly). gh actually considered it for awhile, but puts out the cigarette in the end. tz laughed and said he didnt think gh would be scared of someone else. gh replied, "i'm not scared of him, it's just that i love him."

at that time, gh received a call that bly's dad is sick. gh went through their house and took him to the hospital. gh doesnt want to make bly worry so he quietly took care of everything until bly's dad received surgery and left the hospital. 

on the other hand, bly just threw himself into training. he barely eat or sleep and he worked so hard even the superiors cant keep up with him. even though he didnt contact gh the entire time, he still check gh's company website everyday to see what gh is working on. when he saw that gh will be organizing an event to present some new products, he got permission to briefly return beijing to attend. on the day of the event, bly came without gh's knowledge and observed gh from the crowd. after gh gave his speech, he came down and hugged tz. gh also hugged other employees and business partners, but bly only focused on his interactions with tz. bly got so jealous he couldnt even breathe at the sight of them whispering in each other's ears. 

as bly was leaving, gh finally noticed and went after him. he jumped in front of bly's taxi and made bly get off. gh pulled bly behind a building and berated him for cutting off contact and making gh feel so miserable. bly coldly replied that he can see gh is doing just fine. even as bly pushed him away, gh pleaded, "yinzi, listen to me. tong zhe and i are normal friends. just by looking i can tell that we have many things in common, but that's not why i like him, i brought him here because i think he will be a good match yanjing. yinzi, yyj followed me for 5 years, yet i treated her feelings cruely. i never said this bc i didnt want it to bother you, but i always worry for her. i want to see her settle down in a good place, so i brought tong zhe to the company and gave him many opportunities. its the only way i can make up to yanjing." after hearing this, bly finally calmed down, asking gh to confirm that yanjing will end up liking tong zhe. before bly went back to training, gh kissed him and said he will wait for bly's return.

when the training finished, bly and fellow pilots put on a performance in front of their superiors back in bejing. gh managed to get himself and bly's dad inside the base so they can watch. the entire time gh was going crazy from worry bc of all the difficult fly stunts bly performed, but he's also really proud of "his wife". after the performance, the pilots went to the cafeteria and bly was so exhausted he fell asleep in the middle of his meal...which was when gh took his chance and popped out of nowhere to swooped bly off to his house.

funny tidbit 1: the employees at gh's company love shipping him with tz. one of them even made up that she saw gh and tz playing footsies underneath the table at a company meeting. bly actually overheard them talking about gh/tz once and he told gh that the company improve the mentality of their staff lol

funny tidbit 2: a while later when gy saw tz and yyj together, he bitterly thought that he wanted tz's presence to screw up gh and bly's relationship, but instead tz is "eliminating an obstacle" for them lmao

i dont really get tong zhe. there are too many questions. cjd never did explain his change of allegiance to gh or the original nature of his relationship with gy. like what does he want? does he like yyj? why was he flirting with gh? there is also very little description of his physical appearance, and imo his personality is nothing like bly's, so i dont know what this "replacement" business is all about...

but i suppose the point of his character is to be the very first person to make bly feel insecure. and for very little reason to boot bc the way gh treats tz is no different than how he treats yyj, but i have never seen bly be more dramatic over other "love rivals". i wonder was it bc tz is male? who knows...

One of the reasons that makes this web series becomes popular not only among girls who watch BL but also normal girls who don't watch BL and don't even appreaciate homosexuality is that it makes they forget they are watching the love story of 2 guys, aka danmei; they treat it as a "normal" love story. These audiences won't be interested in BL in general and they may still be very skeptical about homosexuality 

i agree...the irony of the bl genre rarely acknowledging the existence of bisexual people is that most bl characters are bisexual lol. authors love using that "he's the only ~exception~" trope to tug at fangirls' hearts, but it doesnt matter if gh and bly never become sexually attracted to another man for the rest of their lives, they are still bi.

tbh it would make me roll my eyes in real life, but i'm alright with it in fiction form lol

that reminds me...i remember seeing the thread for the movie "10 miles of peach blossom" in this forum and feeling very surprised. the novel the movie is based on got into a huge scandal for blatantly plagiarizing a bl novel. but as you said justice didnt prevail bc the bl writer have no protection for her work.

even so, i didnt think people would invest in making a movie out of a plagiarized work...even starring liu yifei. no integrity whatsoever. but i guess this industry doesnt have qualms about ripping off the bl genre to gain profit

yeah, that's the way to be...i mean even fictional ships get a beating when authors come out and clarify stuff. i get it must be kinda painful to see your diagrams and wall of texts disproved in seconds, but jy and wz are actual people who says and does real things. its bound to happen lol. gotta have thicker skin when real people shipping is involved...
