  1. @homura I can't never thank you enough for the valuable information you have shared with us here. It helps tremendously to understand the Korean history with the factual and fictional characters you have described above. It seems like the 36 past episodes is just a short time of period trying to grasp the centuries old history, but I'm loving every minute of it. Looking forward to the next episode.

as a GSY fan ... I feel I should apologize for some of the bashing that they do to SSK ... I don't think those fans really know what kind of harm they are doing, bashing another actor/idol just because they think their bias is better is not showing real support, but their is nothing that we can do to stop it unfortunately.

as for me I'm just enjoying the drama for what it is ... everyone is doing an awesome job and am lucky enough to watch a drama with alot of my favourite actors ... :)

I am one of GSY's hardcore fan too and I love 6FD...like @rainmoon has pointed out, these are the individuals who are so obsessed about GSY that no one could be above her. They don't watch 6FD nor any of her other dramas but acting as if they have every rights towards her. My group and I personally love the interaction between the cast in 6FD and we rejoiced once we knew they followed each other on IG. SSK is very supportive to her fellow co-actors. Trutfully, @mimi19I don't know which site or comment that you're referring to, but I truly hope that kind of statement will not start a fanwar.... please, coz this time both groups have to be supportive to each other. If only they could see how  close these actors/actresses are in BTS

  3. Try and imagine a girl who grew up without parents, lost her brother (her only blood relative) along the way...Able to survive despite the harsh environment. That takes a lot of strength to build her simple life. She lead through example, she was able to bring some lights to her fellow villagers by convincing them to plant crops on the wasteland...and when she burned down the mill, I thought this young lady was totally awesome.

About being arrogant to Lady Min, I don't see BY's rudeness to her. She was speaking the truth saying that LM is a wise lady and not to misunderstand her conversation with BW.... and as far as point #6 I tend to agree with @homura ..BW seemed like a spoiled man, he doesn't work, doesn't fight like his brothers, he was a 'smooth talker' but the real strategy was actually laid out by JDJ, so BW can't take all the credit... I do blame BW for not trying to separate himself from BY. He could make his time worth by trying to convince his in-laws to fully support the Yi family for a greater cause. Instead he kept tailing BY and watched her doing her work. That to me is wasted time.

  4. I can see that the direction the writers are taking is leaning towards strong female characters. Personally, people should concentrate more on the characters instead of the actresses who portrayed the characters. I really don't understand why people think BY do not deserve to be one of the dragons. Her fight is for the farmers/villagers or the people with lower status in the society... but she made her voice heard. They are trying to build a new better nation and I'm sure she has nothing to lose.

But to attack or bash SSK for this matter is uncalled for. Though I am not an avid fan of SSK but I respect her as an actress (in fact, the whole cast/crew have put in a lot of effort & work so hard for this drama). Hope she'll remain strong.

Hmm... To me, episdoe 19 was one of the worst episodes ever. Actually, Korean internet flooded with bashing about Boon-Yi character, the writing team, and the diector after ep 19 was aired. However, after Ep 20, all the blames were gone. Of course, some K-netizens are still bashing about the writers' interpretation of General Choi Young, but overall, it is getting praises from viewers as well as critics.

Having limited knowledge of Korean history, personally I can't comment much about what General Choi Young was like...His true character... and of course having so many new characters being introduced/added to the scenes made it a bit hard to understand the whole story, as if you don't know which scene was much more important than the others. But I have to admit that the writers are trying to make a strong character out of Boon Yi but some of the scenes were not necessary at all. For example, disguising herself and went to the temple.

Sure hope the rating and the direction of 6FD improve for the upcoming and the remaining episodes as well.

  6. I have a question, saw SBS poster about SBS 2015 Drama Awards that will be held on Dec 31... is Six Flying Dragons nominated for any category?

@liddi the only single thing that I considered a let down between SFD & TWDR is Yi Bangji... why the old YBJ is not as handsome as he used to be?? :P:bawling: I'm glad they found Byun Yo-Han for the younger YBJ... but as the story unfold, I am so amazed how the writers maintained the dorky character of younger Moo Hyul consistent with his older self.

  7. I have started watching Tree With Deep Roots... OMG! the writers are really consistent with their characters linking TWDR and 6FD. Great job. The first 2 episodes were pretty intense, but once you get over those episodes, you just can't stop watching it. Now I understand why the production have chosen some of the actors/actresses in TWDR to be in 6FD. Their acting and portrayal of each character are really awesome. So I'm loving both dramas

  8. @MrsSoJiSub I share the same sentiment as you.... maybe Bang-Ji is one of my favorite characters, the man who still doesn't believe in the 'New World' dreams but will stick around to protect them for his loved ones. I salute the actors & actresses who played their characters so well in SFD even when they are the worst villains ever....still I love them! Looks like rating is up once again to 14.1% and I am ready to see the number increase as the episode progresses.

@homura thank you for the translation on some of the scenes. Now I understand why people were scared of Gil Tae-Mi. I wonder if the real Gil Tae-Mi was as flashy & flamboyant as him... btw even the monk has put on some eye shadow..LOL! must be very trendy back then.

  9. @mjang I am very flattered by your request... by all means, do go ahead if you think that my ramblings warrant repeating. Thank you very much.

Am on a Tree with Deep Roots rewatch... and viewing the drama with fresh eyes, especially within the context of what we have seen so far of SFD. Currently on Ep2 and that scene in the forest, when Moo Hyul raises his sword against YBW... chills, knowing as we do where they were 30 years prior. And when Yi Do lists out the names of all who died at the hands of his father... the names were no longer just names, but I finally could put faces to them from SFD. Comparing YBW of Tree with Deep Roots, to his younger self, especially the way he ruthlessly orchestrated the persecution of Prime Minister Shim On... and it is almost a certainty that he lost a part of his humanity and moral stop-gate... all of which indicates his loss of BY somewhere along the way...

    :D thank you..

I need to prepare myself watching TWDR... I watched the 1st episode... but LBW character as the ex-king was very 'frightening'... so I hold off on that until I finish 6FD.

  10. Hello to all 6FD fans in here,

I see so many familiar drama enthusiasts in this thread...really nice to meet all of you again. I've been a silent reader and so far I've enjoyed watching the show plus reading your comments and insights. Special thanks to @homura for the Korean History lessons and info. Hope you don't mind I've shared that information with other fans outside from this forum.

I do see shipping company in the making here...LOL! I know, somehow we tend to like the love story and the romance in any given drama. 6FD is no exception but isn't it a bit too early to predict who will end up with whom? The history facts remain, LM became the Queen even without her husband's love. Who BW loves the most? My answer is ..Who cares? since we were not there during that period of time. Lets just enjoy the story as it was written by the present day writers and not from the historians in Joseon era. Plus let's stick to the characters instead of the real actors/actress. It's not good making remarks base on the actors/actress just because you want your OTP to end up together.

Personally, I would rather have all the 6FD ladies to have a mind of their own and never have to depend on the men. LM is noticeably a smart person and coming from an influential family, she has the advantage of being more than just a nobleman's wife. Like they said, might as well be in the highest possible rank in the world, the Queen. As far as Boon-yi, I love this character ever since she was a little girl. She was the people's "General" coz she was able to lead her village folks to rise above their poverty. Right now, these ladies do not have the time for love. They are able to put their feelings aside coz during this turbulent time, their minds are focused on helping the group to change the government. It would be interesting to see how these ladies contributed their hearts to building a new nation...and I am all for that.
