I honestly feel that JCW and KJW did an excellent job on their characters. It was a challenge portraying or showcasing human emotions that real people relate too. I’m more surprised in KJW’s acting. She portrayed a character that can make you hate her yet you can understand her and feel for her pain/actions. She deserves more love.

I believe some people criticized this drama with negative reviews and said the cast wasted their time in this drama because they are not used to this kind of drama format. Yes, it’s different but what makes this drama really unique was how all cast portrayed different kind of relationships that people encountered in real life. I read comments where some people said this drama hits home because they’ve been through it. I believe people need to be patient with this drama and yes it was slow paste and picked up later but I wouldn’t say it was boring.

I also think this drama is successfully being a showcase of the casts acting range. They showed their excellent and luxurious acting by portraying every human emotions in the most natural but delicate and effective ways.

Most viewers, especially in Korea, they were in awe and acknowledging the acting skills of the casts.

I read the reviews in naver blogs and I think Koreans youngster love this drama. They said this drama is refreshing and fun, thus pretty realistic and mature. And the strongest point of this drama is the acting of the casts that made them immersed emotionally.

It is so well received in Korea. It has been taking number 1 ranking in tv show netflix for 3 consecutive days plus high views in kakaotv. There wasn’t too much promotion in the middle of the drama so people found the drama in the unique way. There’s a video in the kakaotv channel on youtube when Jae Won and Eun Oh was fighting after PJW found out that YSA was a fake. Youtube algorithm brought people to that video and they were amazed by the acting and directing cause it was like they were seeing a real couple fighting at a street. That clip made them curious then started to watch the drama.

Tbh, international viewers are the one who gave negatives reviews mostly because of the early episodes and interview format.
kdrama accounts and stan twitter also prefer to hype any other drama besides LITC so they think this drama didn’t do well just because it wasn’t a hype.

So far liking this series, but I do think this is one series that’s pretty much not for everyone. LEO is a very misunderstood character. Also I do believe that she is meant to be with PJW.

The reason is that she was in shock pretty much when she met him. Had literally no where to go, no boyfriend, no career basically no hope from any aspect of her future. And Seon ha was her escape mechanism. According to me she did not mean to cheat PJW and she was and is totally in love with him. Having said that the break up left her so weak and so unsure of herself that she couldn’t get herself to tell him the truth. She isn’t being inconsiderate to his feelings but she doesn’t have enough self confidence, self love or even self consideration to believe that he can love her normal self. It’s the break up that has left her that way. She’s scarred and to such an extent that the healing would take years. Before the break up, she might not have been the most spontaneous person but she was good at what she did and they said so that her resume and YSA’s resume was similar. She had some confidence in herself and she had hope to look forward to

a future - a good job and a long term boyfriend. She might have not been as lively and likeable as the original YSA however she was not wallowed in self pity and low confidence like her broken from a break up self.

why do they belong together - is because PJWs character is actually strong, self confident and he fell in love with her like crazy. He’s just one of those personalities that you will turn and look at when they enter a party. There’s something assuring, reliable, attractive and very confident about him. It’s really sad that he’s been so badly impacted by the break up with LEO. But even his post break up self - he has a innate strength and presence and doesn’t give up, even LEOs roommate said that he’s cool. It’s this innate strength that did not make him lash out and tell everyone the truth about her right away. He’s the only person who has the courage, strength and love in him to reconcile LEO’s two personalities, understand her hurt, accept her and support her through her healing journey.

Yes, It’s not his responsibility to heal her but it’s also true that she’s too lonely even with such good friends to heal by herself. We are all humans and as much as it is true that we need to heal ourselves, it’s also true that there are points in our life when we need a hand to get out of a pit. That can come in the form of any human and in her case it’s PJW. Call it destiny’s compensation for the intense pain it’s given her.

hope this helps you all to see LEO in new light.

Wooww I really like your pov. That’s true!! Many see PJW as weak just because he still can’t move on after a year, and because he loves someone too much. But it needs courage and self confident to give your heart to someone like PJW did. He might sounds pathetic during the interview because he only told his heart break story but if they meet him in person, their reaction would be like Kang Geon.
On the other hand, I think that’s also the reason why LEO was afraid to face him when they supposed to meet at the river. Seoul PJW is also different with yangyang PJW. In yangyang he was so casual and carefree, he was approachable. In seoul, he is way more... classy? Totally looks like someone in a high class of society. LEO was lack of self confident especially after she’s back to Seoul. Imagine she found PJW in Seoul, was waiting for her in his strong presence while she was being so unsure of herself. She didn’t even dare to approach him, unlike when she was in yangyang when there wasn’t any gap between them.

What PJW said indeed hurtful. But that is the truth. He didn’t say that LEO was boring or ordinary. He said that LEO is still a coward, because she is still afraid to speak the truth. If LEO was being honest and gave him any explanation, there wouldn’t be that kind of words. I think that’s important for him to say that to LEO, so she can realize that she has to step forward.

The truth is sometimes hurtful when it said, but how we can reflect to it and make any better change is how we grow as a person.

  3. I’’m glad to see Jae Won started to move on... Funny to see how the interviewer is like a gossiper who spread Jae Won news to everyone while he was just silent LOL... this kind of situation is impossible if it’s done by common kdrama format.

Now Eun Oh is starting to realise what she have lost. Well, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.

I feel sorry for her past, I do think she needs therapy sessions, so she can apologise properly and coming clean.

I think this is the time when she is the one who makes effort especially to gain Jae Won trust.

  4. I just want to share the swoon’s clip here... their scene at the bar is one of a legendary scene for me. So happy to read the comments (not only here but also in naver and korean forums) are mostly praised the acting skill. I think this drama is their “idealist” project where they can experimenting a new format and concept of a kdrama, making an art that can touch person feelings by their natural acting skill, without being worried about ratings and tv censorship...

I guess ep 7 has many people happy cos of the skinship. I wish they are meeting. It's a bit slow in that regards and I'm impatient. It doesn't help that the next episode is 3 days later.

But the friendship is cute. It's not easy to have friends from childhood who hangs together, much less your partner who accepts your friends.

Me too, I can’t wait to their meeting any longer. Or at least, his cousin must know about LEO. He can’t laugh at him anymore if he knows. Now seeing their lovely moment flashback only gives me pain in my chest...

how PJW feels so lonely and heart broken while no one understands him, it hurts me the most cause I know how it feels.

I hope PJW wouldn’t just accept LEO easily, better if he heals himself first then move on, and learn from this experience.

As for LEO, can she feels sorry for PJW a little bit? At least she needs to apologise... I didn’t see her having bad feeling about hurting PJW at all... before she needed to learn self love but now I think she’s just being so selfish...

  6. I’m a bit confuse of KakaoTV marketing way. They made pay per view for LITC but on the other hand people can watch it on Netflix. What’s the point anyway, they will go to Netflix instead of pay per view. They also blocked LITC clips on youtube for international viewers while the clips can make LITC more trending and raising curiosity. I won’t complaint if Netflix do promotion well enough but I don’t think so. And I’m a bit concerned about the number of views. I know this drama target viewers are quite segmented, like women in their 20-50... but still people measuring the drama success from the views that they can see first.

IMO this show is really a well made, unique and different concept of kdrama with exploding chemistry, best acting, beautiful shots, realistic but unpredictable plot (as for now), nothing I can complaint. I hope people can appreciate it better and don’t judge it badly just because of their expectation of the first eps is different than they have imagined and they don’t understand the plot yet.

  7. I want to rant too. If Eun Oh reason for breaking up with Jae Won was because she lied to him, then what gave her right to ghosting him and took his cameras??
She also lied to her friends. No one knows about her trip to yangyang. She lied to everyone.
She took Jae Won’s cameras maybe related to his cousins. She was afraid that someday Jae Won shows her photos to his cousin and his gf then he can find her. But still, what she did was so cruel. He loves her with all his might and even tho it wasn’t her real self but his love was true. I cried when I saw he made that couple surfboard.
Being played like that giving you a trauma. One could became cold and lost his trust to others.
Maybe Eun Oh situation was very bad, but still, just because you’re hurting, doesn’t mean you can hurt others, especially the one who love you the most.

Anyone can post the link where the PD praised JCW at the press con? I saw on Insta that he said to the effect that JCW does not behave like a star. He said JCW’s family environment must have contributed to that and even added he wants to learn from JCW.

Edit: I saw the translated copy at Jichangwookkitchen.com:Regarding the reason for casting him, Director Park Shin Woo said, “Just looking at Ji Chang Wook’s face makes me feel good.  He comes with natural manners and natural sweetness,” he said.  “It’s a style that makes people feel good even when they don’t like it,” he said. “I’m curious about the home environment.  How can you be so big?  He’s a star, but he doesn’t seem to act like a huge star,” PD-nim Park said, drawing attention.

    Full article is here: https://jichangwookkitchen.com/2020/12/22/event-drama-ji-chang-wook-attends-press-conference-for-lovestruck-in-the-city/

The engsub for jcw part is here https://www.instagram.com/tv/CJSGk0np_Jx/?igshid=hvui5qoetvm8

it’s from U_Simjo youtube but it was blocked by kakaotv.

I posted a part of that here

I agree. It was so raw and private, the way it was shot, it made me feel very self-conscious watching this moment between the two. Taking a moment to fangirl the director here because It's just breathtaking.

I think the smile was bittersweet, not really mysterious, when he said he loved her. Not once, but twice, like a reaffirmation. It should be kept in mind that the interview subjects will not necessarily say the truth of how they feel or what has happened. So their dialogue conflicts with their actions.

Also beyond the bed scene, I really like this in between the kisses and sleeping together:

Me tooo... it showed how he was still embarrassed but on the other hand, he gave himself up to her. It was so lovely...

  10. Albeit that was one of the most raw and hottest bed scene in the kdrama history, but I was crying when I watched it. We can feel their pain tho. Jae won eyes.... OMG... it was desperation and lust, and after the mysterious smile that she gave to him after he confessed, I can see his confusion and tears. Eun Oh smile... I can see her hide a sad secret... That conflicted feeling that she has...

    Everything was so details :cries:

Sad that many people only see it as a bed scene, not seeing the details and their pain... It was bittersweet beautiful...

  11. @Mai Stars I’d like to see him in any kind of different role, and he never been in a medical drama before. Pretty sure he’s gonna make it unique and interesting as usual.

@elizabeth They judged the drama just because it’s an adaptation from an adult webtoon, while in fact, it is one of the purest drama I’ve ever watch. I think BR was treated so unfairly, some with hidden agenda, but even with all the bashers and controversies in the beginning, it still maintained as the 1st rating in mini-series as it was airing, 1st spot in wavve and iQIYI (up until now).

BR is my cup of tea, it’s a slice of life, family oriented drama. Some exaggerated CGI are for comedic purpose, just see it as a life comic. But despite that, the story is so relatable and realistic. Don’t expect a great plot or thrilling plot twist. Just enjoy it as you watch people around you have their own life struggle. This show can make me laugh until my stomach hurts then crying and having this warm feelings in my heart. The problems seem trivial but it makes me reflecting my life LoL

JCW was amazing in BR. His comedic acting was brilliant. And the way he, KYJ and other casts expressed their feelings so delicately yet so touching, I can feel warmth in my heart just by remembering it. Not to mention, his chemistry with KYJ is really another level. They set a new standard of chemistry just by bickering. Gosh....

It’s a drama that marks a special place in my heart, not because of a thrilling or great impression, but because of all the feels that I got from it. But if you look for something thrilling or great plot, or some serious matter, I don’t think BR is one for you.
