The production presentation of 'Voice 4', which was broadcast live online on the 14th, was attended by Lee Ha-na, Song Seung-heon, Son Eun-seo, Kang Seung-yoon, and Shin Yong-hwi, PDs, and talked about the work.
Returning to the genre after a while, Song Seung-heon plays the principled detective Derek Jo, who saves lives at the scene of death in 'Voice 4'. Derek Joe, the LAPD (LA Police) gang leader and Golden Time team co-detective, leads the LAPD strong team with overwhelming charisma and is a strict person who does not tolerate even small mistakes.
Song Seung-heon's appearance in 'Voice 4' was completed thanks to a special relationship with the new PD. PD Shin, who worked with him on 'The Great Show', highly praised Song Seung-heon's passion and strengths.
He said, "I told the writer about Song Seung-heon's good influence that I felt, and he accepted it. I have a happy memory of working together on 'The Great Show', and I know his passion and strengths.
As the series has a strong fan base, Song Seung-heon felt pressure at first, but he worked hard to show a different charm from his previous cooperative partners.
Song Seung-heon said, "I liked it when I first got the offer, but on the other hand, it was a burden because it was a season-based drama representing Korea and had a large fandom." "I was worried about how I could fit in with this team. I tried to show a different side of Lee Jin-wook."

If the previous seasons mainly dealt with the dissolution of families and the wounds of the victims, 'Voice 4' talks about the aftermath.
PD Shin said, "The previous season dealt with the story of the dissolution of a family. I think that if the family is broken, it will eventually become a factor that causes big problems in society." Finally finished watching this. I must say, this is one of the best 'feel good' Kdrama of the recent times. Its been a while since something of this sort came out - most shows off late were having very serious plots.Song Seung-heon and Seo Ji-hye did great - they've got great chemistry & screen presence, & that hooked me all along till the end. I did watch all episodes non stop & it wasn't boring at all - most of the other characters doesn't make that much of an impact though, except for the two mothers & Naeun with her beautiful looks. 예쁜 아가씨 indeed
Seo Ji Hye definitely deserved a lead role like this. Previously I liked her performance in Heart Surgeons (must watch if you haven't) & CLoY - obviously everyone knows.
Watch this if you are looking for an overall decent, feel good drama with some fun and little emotions.

One of my favorite KDramas ever!!! It was funny sweet romantic and each storyline was interesting. Each Character was developed well and I especially loved the chemistry between the two main characters. Seo Ji-hye character was my favorite I absolutely loved everything about her character from her sense of humor and down-to-earth personality!!! Ye Ji-won once again did not disappoint. She is such a good actress. Lee Ji-hoon for me took the best actor award in this drama. This KDRAMA kept me interested from the beginning until the end. Well done to everyone involved. If they decide to make a second season I would watch it just to see what happens to Lee Ji-hoon's character but only if they give him a happy ending lol.

Such a Refreshing drama.Totally loved it. Highly recommended to those who want to watch RomCom with a different kind of Storyline. Chemistry between leads was Fantastic (had butterflies in my stomach most of the times). Mature leads has taken this drama on another level.Love their acting . Supporting cast's characters were amazing with their own interesting stories . We can learn from this drama while enjoying it.One of the best drama of 2020.OSTs are beautiful. Can't deny that this is a binge watch.I enjoyed it till last episode.I want to rewatch it.Lovely drama.At last,GO FOR IT!!Btw you are going to crave for food in each episode so.. Prepare something to eat while watching it. XD

The main reason I watched this is because of Son Naeun And Seo Ji Hye. But I didn't expect that this romcom tickles me in a fine way but is lasting. The drama is like a smooth talk that the later it gets the better. It doesn't need to have all those expensive pretty clothes, luxurious statuses, too fictious events,too much skinship and a roller coaster ride of emotions. It sets you on a slow pace that is not boring,like a fine wine that the more you savor and appreciates the aroma the better it taste. It shows class from a simple plot story that gets your attention and be drawned to it. Every character has a story to tell that is yet to unfold little by little. Simple yet convincing. I love it and highly recommended. For those who are too worked up with new exciting dramas and everything, sometimes this kind of stories will be too bland for your taste but believe me the more you sets and widen your standards the better you understand and appreciates different story lines and genres.

I loved it... Story was definitely different from any others. It started from lot of coincidents and lead to mature and Lovely Love story. Comedy was good too.
I just loved the Lead couple. Both of them are super awesome. And their Chemistry..Omg... totally Heart fluttering. Song Seung heon was So Good & Perfect. Seo Ji Hye... she was great , this role is totally opposite from Crash Landing in you ... & I love her in this drama. ❤️
Music was Beautiful specially ... Would you like OST by Ovan.
It's genre is also food and I'm sure you'll crave for delicious food while watching it.
Without any fanciness it was Simply superb. You should definitely watch it.❤️

This TV show deserves an utmost recognition. It serves as a mind-opener for those people who have been through difficult times. Depression and other mental disorders are very rampant in today's generation especially within youths which shouldn't be taken lightly since it is a very serious issue to dealt with. I have high respects to our psychiatrists or counseling agents for always doing their best to help those who are in need of counseling. I'm looking forward for the progression of this drama. Almost everything is surreal - from the different roles played by the actors and actresses, the scenarios, the setting an plot. BIG THUMBS UP!

Before I watch any kdrama, I rely so much on reviews like these. Thus, I prefer simple (not complicated) and reviews that are direct to the point. So here’s my review: This drama has a unique and amazing plot, with lovable lead characters (Song Seung Heon and Seo Ji Hye had such great chemistry ❤️) and is one of the most exciting and beautiful romcom dramas i’ve ever watched. I was laughing out loud all through out the episodes because of Seo Ji Hye’s funny character There were some crying moments, though, but the happy moments will surely stay in my mind I’m at episode 15 already and I can’t wait to see the ending. Well, I do hope it’s a happy and satisfying one

O M G... the movie is ... AAAA ++++ ... so nice and yet a little bit creepy and tense. Everybody in this movie are so AWSOME with the roles. The story line and the plot are great. All my friends are watching the movie too and they like it too. Oppa Song Seung-Heon is AWSOME. My mom has oppa movies.... Autumn in My Heart, He Was Cool, When a Man Falls in Love. That's why I know oppa. I love oppa in ... He WAS COOL.. oppa really KOOLZ in that movie. Even now u r still KOOLZ... :O) No wonder my mom has lots of ur movies at home.
Seo Ji-hye... she's so pretty, I didn't recognize her until the part she was dreaming of ...Crash Landing on You ... and I remember she was in that movie. :-))
Lee Ji-hoon, Son Na-eun are very good with their role too. I am very happy that I watched the movie. Its really good. Hope to see oppa Seung Heon in more new movies in the future.

I have always been curious about this kdrama after reading so many good reviews about it. Unfortunately, it was neither on Netflix nor Viki here in Australia. But after doing some research, I found it is available in iQiYi and this app is now free in Australia (like Viki, you have to pay for an ad-free experience). I absolutely enjoyed the plot, it was simple but it made my heart flutter. I liked Seo Ji Hye in CLOY (Crash Landing on You) that I was curious to see how she would be like in a different role, and that was another reason I wanted to see this drama. Their love story began with being dinner mates and I absolutely fell in love with that simple concept. I truly admired the male lead's character. He was honest, smart, sweet-natured and loving. He persevered in their relationship despite a few challenges that they both had to face. Another feel good drama to enjoy.

For me this show was amazing ...the chemistry of SSh and SJh was really good they look good together both pretty and handsome...their acting are natural no overact ! the plot is uncommon! beautiful Ost too! I'm hoping for the higher ratings and a good ending..Sjh is a good actress she's a quiet comedian and act so natural. I can't wait to watch her more in romcom drama in the future...Ssh is so handsome I'm a fan of him since Autumn in my heart he's good in romcom too! im looking foward for the upcoming episode..#DinnerMateFighting

Congratulations to all the casts and to all who worked behind this great story. I'm just hoping that Dr. Kim & Do Hee will get marry but it did not happen still, good story. I do believe too that nothing is coincidence. By the way, this is my first time I watched Oppa Seung Heun in a romcom genre, at first it's awkward, but you're really good. Anyway, you and Ji Hye look good together. Hoping both of you together again in your next project.

1st of all it was amazing to see seo ji hye getting dumped by kim jung hyun as opposite happened in cloy. Those who saw cloy must remember. But talking about this show, then it is definitely worth watching. The coincidental meeting of two people and falling in love overs dinners. Not everyone's love sorry is that amusing and watching one consider it as well your destiny. Btw I seriously googled difference between destiny and coincidence to get a clear idea. That must engrossing this show is. So yeah definitely watch it n I'm sure u won't regret it.

I love Dinner mate to pieces! Song Seung-heon and Seo Ji-hye were beautiful literally and figuratively. I got all the butterflies in my stomach as i watch these two. It’s a feel-good Rom-com that will teach you that sometime you can be selfish and think of your own happiness and it’s ok. I certainly recommend this series to those Kdrama lovers out there who like me, became very picky of series to watch after months of non stop kdrama because of the quarantine.

I love Song Seung-Heon's acting very much already and always looking forward to his drama. I have started to like Seo Ji-Hye from "Crash landing on you". From the first episode's 10 minutes were already enough to tell me that this drama will be fun, lovely and relaxing. The plot is not uncommon but the way it is filmed and story told, it is so far not boring, not too lengthy, just as it should be. I have watched the first 4 episodes and looking forward to the next ones!!

A must watch romantic feel-good K dramaThe male lead, a psychiatrist and the female lead, producer of B rated shows(shows having masala) keep meeting coincidentally.
They decide to become dinner mates without knowing each other's name and profession❤️ However there comes a time where they meet professionally and their exes show up.
The concept is new and fresh.Male lead gives us a perfect boyfriend feels ❤️ and the female lead is just so adorable ❤️
And if you have watched cloy, there's a scene dedicated to cloy fans itself ❤️

For me this was the coolest drama ever without considering what the food we're going to eat but WITH the most comfortable person to be with. No matter what life brings you down, no matter how devastated you are if you're sharing meal with your special someone it will lessen the uncomfortable feelings. My realizations in this drama is always be grateful on what you have, you don't need to impress everybody. The drama plot tells us that even in our difficult times eating is the best stress reliever. ❤️❤️❤️

I love Dinner Mate ❤ Song Seung Heon and Seo Ji Hye did an amazing job as KIm Hae Kyong and Woo Do Hee! They are both good in comedy and in their romantic and dramatic scenes! They have heart fluttering chemistry that will leave the viewers feeling so in love after watching Dinner Mate. There are so many heart fluttering scenes that the viewers will like and will make you go back to rewatch it. I rewatched it countless times now and will continue to rewatch. I am now a Song Seung Heon and Seo Ji Hye shipper

I was bored - Frantically browsing when this Korean Drama caught my attention.I just red the synopsis and I end up watching without even noticed whose the cast, neither did i know that i am engrossed up to the second episode. well , cant wait for Mondays & Tuesdays to watched the show.
As of now , Its light comedy and romantic show.
and i am looking forward for the coming episodes . ( Romantic Excitement & Violent Reaction for both parties as they will soon discovered .... )I dont want to spill the beans ; But For me , Its worth watching for .

A great depiction on relationships. Each episode dealt with situations of life that we the viewer's can identify with. If I were miss woo I would have told dr Kim how much I loved him. Instead dr kim bent over backwards to let her know he was sincere about his feelings for her. All in all a very entertaining romantic drama and I am glad it ended happily.

I super love this light & feel good drama, perfect timing in this time full of stress & anxiety. kudos to their on screen chemistry plus very nice OST! I just hope more people will watch & support this drama and help boost the ratings to an all time high. A bonus would be that we will be able to see them in MBC year end award and I wish they will win the "Best Couple" award. haha.

Beautiful light drama that beautifully presented a variety of issues relevant in our time. The cast had beautifully portrayed the character' Seo Ji-hye is adorable beyond words. Song Seung-heon is so handsome and fitting for the role. But I can’t get over Lee ji-hoon. He is a talented diverse actor who played his character exceptionally. I wanted to see more of him on screen. I hope to see him as a first lead very soon. Great job on this drama. Definitely in my rewatch list.

I liked that this drama was not afraid to talk about mental health, which is a topic that's usually looked down upon or disregarded especially in Asian culture. It's such an important topic and taking care of one's own mental health should not be a shameful thing. The main leads also have great chemistry, good casting on the characters. Really enjoyed it!

love this drama so much. when seunghoon is giving an advise/comforting ppl it also comforts me and get rid all of my worries. i must say that this drama helps me to control my emotions and to be worry free. its like he also comforts me❤️❤️❤️ love all the cast, i can really relate at some point in each of them. idk, but i really love this, watching dinner mate makes me at peace❤️

I have to say, this drama is my all time favorite! I come home from a very long day of work and this kdrama just helps me through my adult life. Its not over the top sappy love but adult love. A feel good romance drama with adult characters where the story line is relatable to "normal life". The pacing of the series is good, almost laid-back.A great chemistry between the two leads. Song Seung Heon is handsome as ever, Seo Ji Hye is wonderful after her CLOY' Seo Dan.
Watch it if you want to be in your pjs with comfort food and good old rom-com.

I can tell you that this is a worth waiting for drama each Monday and Tuesday. The story telling is floaty and relateable to adult's life. I was amazed to see SJH shows her quirky style, which is way too different with her previous appearance in CLOY, but she is the diva here. Beside, SSH is charming as always, and the other cast are really entertaining. I really wish to see SJH as the main lead for her upcoming drama.

I randomly pick this drama to watch during breakup. And it was destined for me to watch that whatever happened to Woo Do Hee actually happened to me.The drama, plot, ost was soooo chill that really give you a heartwarming. Is probably bcs of my situation, I really can't stop watching this for 3 days. It took t3 days for me to complete this drama.
Thank you writer for the heartwarming drama during my hard time. I love the whole team.
Ps: The short clip about "CLOY" was soooo fun that we finally able to see Woo Do Hee as Seo Dan !!! <3 <3 <3

Watched this drama because of Song Seung Heon and of course he didn’t disappoint. He’s an amazing actor. But I have to say, Lee Ji-hoon was amazing! He made me feel the pain that he felt and I honestly was so choked up by his acting....he really brought this character to life and really made you feel how deep his pain is! This drama is amazing and would highly recommend!

Great cast and scripts. Pace is just nice, storyline, setting/scene, songs, characters, etc are so simply excellent.
Song Seung-hoen is so perfect in this role, simply captivating and awesome. It is so refreshing to see Seo Ji-hye in such lively role : )
The other supporting roles are so well matched that makes this drama extremely entertaining.

I've watched the early dramas of Song Seung Heon and found him really cute. Now that he is older he has a mature handsomeness that is so attractive. I'm glad he has retained his good looks.

Cute and funny love drama. I've come to know SJH from Crash Landing and really like how cool she is in the drama. Her role in Dinner Mate is absolutely more diva and funny. Absolutely enjoyed those funny scenes! Can't wait to see both the actor and actress get together in upcoming episodes!

I loved it. Plot holds up from start to finish, characters are well-developed (also, who wouldn't love the whimsical protagonist?!), and lines are smooth without being cheesy. Romance aside, this show also explores two important issues: mental illness and a doctor's conflict of interest. An unforgettable sixteen-hour journey!

this is one of the dramas I've been waiting for, no long streched cinematic scenes, straight out acting and no scenes bored with the right background music and OST.. its funny and light, while u can feel the romance even though they haven't started it yet. the chemistry is good. and i hope it gets higher ratings.. can't wait for mondays and tuesdays..

The show is somewhat one of the most straightforward and the not so clingy type that it allows all ages to connect with the characters, it's not too much, and I like how it pulls you through to the movie. I love it 100%. Because it's not the typical boy-girl story but a man and a woman actually trying their best to find someone to fill the hole. ❤

This drama is a light romantic comedy.It is a breath of fresh air.Song Seung Hoon is a very good actor and he doesn’t have to prove anything anymore.He can give justice to whatever role in whatever genre.Ji Hye is fresh from her successful role in CLOY that is why we cannot get the cold and strong image of her yet.Her role here is the exact opposite and we are not just used to seeing her portray such but despite that she did well and the chemistry is there.

Very interesting and loving the story..Maybe we can call this as accidental love. A story saying the you can love someone, but do not love yourself less. This had been one of dramas I had waited for since its teasers as it had looked promising enough… Haekyung Dohee journey from being dinner mate to soulmates have been incredibly heart fluttering ….Dinner Mate matches all the expectations one has of a Rom-Com….its different from usual kdrama cliches of loner chaebol male lead & poor girl …Or completely opposite natured main leads… instead “Dinner mate” as a plot focuses on journey of two individuals who come together just out of sheer coincidence…& slowly bond over unexpected meetings, not only sharing favourite meals but also their emotional hurdles that have left scars ingrained on their hearts…
It sets you on a slow pace journey of main leads…which is not boring, story progresses like a fine wine where more you savor & appreciate the aroma, better it tastes It shows class from a simple plot story that gets your attention and be drawned to it….Each & every character has a story to tell that unfolds little by little….simple yet convincing…characters got their happiness in lives which they deserved
For ppl who going through break up, or experienced heart break from first love …drama gonna be little soothing for them, & will help them to learn to move on & find a love that we call destiny…Its a relaxing & calm drama.
SpoilerOverall drama had been light hearted with sweet romance to warm your heart …Haekyung (Song Seung-heon) & Do Hee(Seo Ji-Hye)have been wonderful in their characters….JiHye is refreshing in this role as her acting skills is out of the box fun & quirky…as for Song Seung-heon , I don’t think i need to mention he has been very neat & handsome psychiatrist, charismatic, professional, & charming in his role…
SpoilerThe best part of main leads relationship had been that both Hae Kyung & Do Hee were crystal clear about their newly found acquaintanceship ….both were like open book to each other, they knew each others good & bad phase, which reduced the possibility of misunderstanding arising as both were aware abt each other & right from start both started off with an unknown comfort level where two just started meeting to have food together, but got strangely comforted by each other, inspite of not even knowing each other….
I like coincidental connections between main leads & focusing on fateful encounters as the means of development of relationships…where gradually they understand each other & eventually fall in love Most importantly, it was beautiful how they were emotional support for each other, which goes beyond hugs & kisses…they both needed each other as a person whom they can trust & lean on when things get tough… I liked how DoHee was there when Hae Kyung lost his mother, it was she who cheered him up.
SpoilerApart from main leads, I liked the parallel track of Nam AeYoung & Keanu they had their own b’ful love track going …how I liked there scenes & both bonding with each other & falling in love ….. Really loved how their relationship developed they progressed in relationship faster than main leads Keanu was charming in his own way, even before it was revealed he was psychiatrist
Jung JaeHyuk & No eul were good in there characters as pathetic evil Exes, that they deserved to be hated they have been so problematic second leads but glad both Haekyung & DoHee overcame those hurdles till very end i never trusted JaeHyuk & Noeul…was always suspicious of them creating some new problem.
Whole cast did really good job portraying their characters no matter how charming, cute, funny & annoying the characters were, the cast did well playing them…
SpoilerThis drama surely goes in recommended drama lists…as its a fun series to watch storyline, plot unfolds in a way that it keeps you in suspense but a giddy good feeling… there are parts that makes the story interesting and fun….specially cameos by actors …& a special mention to CLOY references Do-hee’s past life …
Almost everything is surreal – from the different roles played by the actors and actresses, the scenarios, the setting an plot…it keeps you interested in drama…I liked how an episode doesn’t stay serious for long there are good light moments at regular intervals. …I enjoyed the drama,there were few things which i didn’t liked– annoying exes getting more screen space, writernim was being unfair, by involving the ex’s too much from the beginning till the end of the show that it got so annoying after a certain point, I might have dropped the drama too… Also the dramatic car accident in final stages of drama, it wasn’t required… but still I am glad, I stuck with drama till the end….didn’t dropped it mid way…it made me more happy than sad it was enjoyable & its just a drama at end of day, it doesn’t need to be perfect or realistic, with so much uncertainty & sadness, stress in real life, once in a while, we need such cheesy cliche dramas, in which few weak points or loopholes can be easily ignored….For me, Happy endings make forgive all the hiccups & loopholes in story….
The unfolding of story is b’ful…the accurate balance of romance, comedy, emotions … makes for a winning drama….it will be worth a watch….as its a happy vibe & relaxing Drama &Haekyung marriage proposal was heart fluttering
Dinner mate is a warm & simple love story of two ppl actually finding their soulmate….its a feelgood, heart warming drama, which you can indulge in when just craving for a simple soft kdrama…

Have you ever felt that it’s sometimes easier to talk to strangers about our problems? When you think about it though, aren’t all connections start from meeting a new person, a stranger, then you become friends or something more in the process? Dinner Mate kdrama relishes on this premise and serves a delicious treat of 2 random people who connect with each other through eating and sharing their personal stories with each other.
I know I’m really late in recommending this but it took awhile for me to start this korean drama. It’s already halfway in its run as of this week and I just bingewatched all the episodes in 2 days, haha. Without further ado, how about we join our titular characters for a meal as well?
Appetizer – Side salad of coincidences and a creamed romcom soup
Accidentally meeting in Jeju Island, an online content producer named Woo Do Hee (Played by Seo Ji Hye) and a famous psychiatrist Kim Hae Kyung (Played by Song Seung Heon), end up having a meal together. Do Hee had just dumped her boyfriend who was cheating on her while Hae Kyung was there to meet with a patient.
Like any classic romcom formula, our unlikely duo end up meeting each other in random circumstances back in Seoul. Oblivious of each other’s personal identities, Do Hee and Hae Kyung decide to become meal buddies only by meeting up and having a meal together once in awhile. They can talk about their interests or problems if they wanted to share it with each other, but both are not privy to the other’s basic information such as their name, occupation, etc.
Main Course – Filet mignon served with heartwarming garlic mashed potato and roasted plot twists veggies
Eating a meal is integral to Do Hee and Hae Kyung as the former enjoys her own way of eating food while the latter views having a meal with someone else as a gesture that he/she is important to you. As they try to navigate their relationship being careful to not cross any boundaries (which of course they will), things get more complicated as their first loves want to get back together with them respectively.
I love both Do Hee and Hae Kyung’s characters, especially Do Hee, who is relatable in many ways. I like that she can be sloppy and frazzled at times but is confident on what she wants such as her eating habits and passion for work. I appreciate that Hae Kyung is considerate but not overbearing in his gentleman ways. Both their characters are cool and strong-willed; they balance each other’s quirks well that it’s so satisfying watching them get closer to each other❤️
SpoilerDessert – Slice-of-life Chocolate cake with mixed bittersweet fruits
Along with the romantic sparks that shine between Do Hee and Hae Kyung, bits and pieces of life lessons further enhance the show’s charm. How they will grow from being meal buddies to something more was such a slow burn, the pacing was not too fast as they organically got to know each other only by eating together. Dinner Mate serves up a tale of healing and fills our palates with hope that things will work out for us in the most unexpected of ways

We’re treated to an imaginary epilogue for Seo Ji Hye’s character in Crash Landing on You, Seo Dan, as Do Hee tries a past regression hypnotism video at work. She dreams of being in a field and takes on a North Korean accent as she waits for a man in uniform, who happens to be Hae Kyung, walking towards her. This was such a nice nugget for fans of the show (Like me) who grew to love the feisty Seo Dan as her would-be lover passed away, but she was content in not having a partner in the end. Now can someone do a spin-off kdrama for Seo Dan and Hae Kyung’s military officer character next time?

Well to cut the introduction short, I will be reviewing the recently completed Kdrama entitled “Dinner Mate” or “Would You Like to Have Dinner Together”.I was excited to watch the drama because of Seo Ji Hye. I was attached to her character in “Crash Landing on You” and I was hoping that she would finally have a happy or better ending this time. To be honest, before watching the show, I already skimmed the original webtoon and I was satisfied to find out that the end part was a happy ending. I am such a foodie and I look forward to seeing mouthwatering dishes in the show.

His upright character in “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” was so admirable. He is like a calm tiger when it comes to acting.

I dug deep and found out that it was only available in iQIYI. It was the first time that I heard of that streaming platform.There were many cameos in the first couple of episodes. There were cameos from some casts of “The Player” and of course “Crash Landing On You”. Seeing Kim Jung Hyoon and Seo Ji Hye reunited in the first episode was a delight. Though the ending is still sad for them, this time they had closure. I read the news and I was glad to know that Seo Ji Hye was the one who told the PD to cast Kim Jung Hyoon as the ex-boyfriends. They are good friends in real life. I was also able to enjoy Seo Eun Su cameo, who played the total RickRoll'D flight attendant in the drama. I loved her in “My Golden Life” and enjoyed her in “Legal High”.Spoiler

Photo Credits: MBC The first episode did not captivate me and I decided to drop it. Probably, it was because of the tropey storyline and my watching time, which was 1:00 AM. Days passed, I found out all of my cousins were loving the show. They were gushing about it and I cannot join the discussion. I decided to continue watching the drama so that I can relate with my cousins. To my surprise, I was enjoying it. I did not notice that I was smiling and laughing while watching the drama. It has grown a lot to me.
Five Things That I Love In Dinner Mate:
1. Sassy and Mature Woo Doo Hee
Seo Ji Hye’s character was probably the reason why I was able to love the show. There was a balance of maturity and sassiness in her character. She was not the stereotypical romantic comedy heroine. I love that she was not the weeping and jealous female character whenever her boyfriend is meeting and talking with his ex-girlfriend. I actually did not complain that she is somewhat virginal in the drama. She is the type of person who is smart, and not easily swayed with sweet gestures. I also love that she was honest and was not afraid to speak her heart out and address issues. Her sassiness also gave the show some colors. She and Ye Ji Won have great sister chemistry. One of the funniest scenes was when she stood up on the desk, threw a fist in the air, led the charge, and promised that B-comedy will never die. It was hilarious!

They are just charming together. Kim Hae Kyung, played by Song Seung Hoon, was such boyfriend material. He loves her, drives her home, and cooks for her. His sweet gestures to Doo Hee and shy smile are just swoon-worthy. In real life, Seo Ji Hye is 35-years old, while Song Seung Hoon is 43-years old. It was somewhat unusual that even though they are not young anymore, I find them adorable as a coupleSpoiler

Whenever I see Yee Ji Won on screen, I always call her “Jennifer” because of her iconic role in “Thirty But Seventeen”. She always portrays her roles effortlessly. I love that she is a woman who does not discriminate when it comes to love. Her love story with the homeless Keanu, played by Park So Han, was such a comedic relief. I love the fact that they became dinner mates and became a couple in the end.

I watch the drama every 1:00 AM. Whenever I hear the song “Yummy Yummy” by MC Mong, it gives me the energy to finish watching the drama. I could not help myself but dance to the beat of the music. You can relate to me if you watch the show.
“Dear My Star” by Sondia is another OST that I love. It gives a romantic and mellifluous sound. It reminds me of the Crash Landing On You’s OST “Here Again” by Baek Ye Rin.
5. Lee Ji Hoon's Excellent Acting
In an acting perspective, Lee Ji Hoon shone in the drama. He played the role of Jung Jae Hyuk. His character as the delusional and self-obsessed ex-boyfriend was horrible. However, as much as I hate his character in the drama, he really CRUSHED IT! I was awed, terrified, and felt pity with his character. The highs and lows of his character were laid out so well. It will be no surprise if he wins an acting award for this.

In Episode 16, while doing a past life regression method, Woo Do Hee’s voice changed into a North Korean accent. Kim Hae Kyung in military uniform appeared in her dreams, calling her “Dan”. "Dinner Mate" has a tropey storyline but the level of maturity of the protagonist made the show satisfying. I love that whenever there are problems with the relationship, they address it and trust each other. The exes really did a great job making me hate them but it was relieving that they were able to learn from their mistakes in the end. The melodramatic turn and TOD or Truck of Doom were criticized by the netizens. But what is a Kdrama without some melancholic themes and TOD?! I commend how the show did not go to the usual “amnesia” or “coma” storyline after the TOD. They wrapped it well and focused on the love storyline. It was not a perfect show. It has some plot missteps such as Wo Do Hee’s flawed logic of lying to Kim Hae Kyung. Further, when Kim Hae Kyung beat his patient Jung Hae Kyung, I was somewhat shocked to see that a psychiatrist beat his patient but I understand where he was coming from. I also felt like knowing the names of each other was dragged longer. I am really expecting more food features in the drama. Overall, the show is a charming adult Rom-Com that is worth the gush and swoon!
I give it 8/10!

My Review:
After I ended up watching “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay”, I was at lost of what to watch next that will be interesting to forget my woes in life. I initially watched “Backstreet Rookie” as it stars two of my favourite actors, Ji Chang-Wook and Kim Yoo-Jung, but, I cannot even finish the 1st episode because it was that bad. I don’t know why Ji Chang-Wook chose bad scripts since he came back from his military constriction. So, I browse back and saw this. I thought it is also going to be bad but, glad it wasn’t and able to enjoyably immerse to see a good romcom.
So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?
(1) I believe Song Seung Hun is one of the underestimated Korean actor internationally. He has done quite a lot of great projects that generally with plots that are not typical and this is not an exception. Although, this is a romcom, the dinner mate concept is quite unique on its own and he has superbly delivered his character.
(2) I love Seo Ji Hye as Woo Do Hee on this K-drama rather than her character in “Crash Landing On You”. Her character on this K-Drama is more relatable here and provided her a platform to show her acting chops, though, “Crash Landing On You” gave her the venue to be known and become the lead character here.
(3) This K-drama has effectively shown how much parents can greatly influence their children of who they become as a person. They can make or break us as a human being. Thus, it is indeed a blessing if we are born from parents who truly provided us the love that we need as we grow up.
(4) I was deeply affected by the story of Kim Hae Kyung and his mother. It was thought provoking especially the issue of forgiveness.
(5) I love the OST.
What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
It wasn’t as perfect as the other great romcoms I’ve seen but it was entertaining enough. There were bland scenes especially some of the side stories, but, over all it wasn’t that bad like “Backstreet Rookie” that I almost puke on how nonsensical it is even just on the 1st episode.
Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes

Korean Drama Review by Jill, USAHow can a Korean drama fan go wrong with a gently romantic story that begins with a tribute to the unforgettable late actress Audrey Hepburn, as our heroine imagines herself as Audrey at the beginning of Breakfast at Tiffany's? In that one scene we learn so much about the heroine of this story, her winsome personality, her quirky hopes and dreams. What a special and creative way to begin a Korean drama! Of course, as a classic movie fan since I was a child, I was hooked immediately.
Dinner Mate (2020) proved a nice break from other more melodramatic series being broadcast around the same time.
Many wonderful actors were lined up for this drama, in both lead and supporting roles, including the ever handsome A-List actor Seung Hun Song (Autumn In My Heart, Summer Scent, When A Man Loves, Saimdang Light's Diary) and the always fascinating Seo Ji Hye (49 Days, Snow Lotus, Crash Landing On You), plus my favorite actor from Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, who had played Historian Minister Min Woo so well, Lee Ji Hoon.
I knew the story would be special just by the high quality actors who had agreed to be in it. I read that lovely actress Shin Min Ah had been offered the role of female lead first but she turned it down. Although I love her it's obvious she would have been wrong for the role: Seo Ji Hye made this character her own, and no one else could have come close to her fantastic performance. I'm glad that after a decade in the business she is finally getting the attention she has long deserved. That complex character she played in 49 Days back in 2011 tipped me off to how excellent an actress she was; glad others today are finally catching up.
The Story:
We meet charming, effervescent media producer Woo Do Hee (Seo Ji Hye) who pretty much lives in a fantasy world of her own creation. Her company, 2NBox, produces popular media that appears on streaming sites online, and so she has quite the imagination, always trying to top herself in her next production. Of course such a company has to have some wacky characters in charge of various production issues, such as older media manager Nam A Young (Ye Ji Won, Page Turner) and chubby secretary Park Jin Kyu (Ko Kyul Pil, Vagabond). They both give us rather steady comedy moments to lighten up the few darker scenes and themes.
When we first meet her, Do Hee seems engaged to a handsome young man who owns a restaurant on Jeju Island, named Lee Young Dong (Kim Jung Hyun, who played Seo Ji Hye's eventual love interest in Crash Landing On You, and who has also been in great productions such as Bing Goo and Jealousy Incarnate), and she is constantly texting him, sending him videos of herself, in essence making a general pest of herself where he is concerned. Therefore it is no real surprise to the audience when Do Hee heads off to Jeju Island, expecting a proposal out of him, but she is about to undergo a shock: he has been two-timing her with other women, even including the flight attendant who had been so nice to her on the plane trip! A fight takes place in his restaurant, and the "engagement" she had imagined between them is broken off.Spoiler
On the flight over to Jeju, Do Hee had sat next to a man in first class named Kim Hae Kyung (Seung Hun Song), who is a successful and compassionate psychiatrist. He doesn't say much to her but privately he thinks she is very silly, constantly sending cell phone videos to her boyfriend. Later he happens to be in the same restaurant when Do Hee breaks it off with Young Dong. He watches in fascination, even though he is supposed to be concentrating on a patient who is sitting across from him at the table.
Later, Hae Kyung sees Do Hee again, standing on rocks above the water, looking like she is about to jump into the ocean and drown herself. He rushes to "save" her, with the result that he is the one hurt physically, not her. She wasn't really planning on a suicide, and the fact that this stranger cared enough to try and "rescue" her does not go unnoticed by her. Afterward, when he recovers, he plans to fly back to Seoul, but can't quite make himself do that, for some unrecognized reason. He elects to stay on Jeju for awhile longer, and fate once again brings him into contact with Do Hee. They slowly get to know one another. They both agree not to reveal each other's names to one another, but just to act as "dinner mates", since both of them love going to restaurants and are fascinated by specialty food dishes.Spoiler
Both Do Hee and Hae Kyung had past love interests that didn't work out in their lives, so they are in no hurry to fail again with a new relationship. A simple friendship begins to grow between them that slowly, no surprise, begins to grow into something deeper emotionally, though neither wants to admit it to themselves, or to others, for quite some time. It almost seems at times they can read each other's minds, and once again I was reminded of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in An Affair To Remember, for they often appeared to anticipate what the other person was going to say next.Spoiler
When they both return to Seoul and their respective jobs, Do Hee's older female manager tells Do Hee that she wants her to produce a new show with renowned Psychiatrist Kim Hae Kyung, or she will have to work with her ex-boyfriend instead, to Do Hee a fate worse than death! Do Hee is unaware that Psychiatrist Kim Hae Kyung is the man she sat next to on the flight to Jeju, the man who tried to save her life and got hurt in the process, the man that fate keeps putting in her way and to whom she has become dinner mates with. She balks at first, and then eventually Hae Kyung approaches her and gives her his business card, finally revealing his true identity to her. She agrees to do the media series focusing on him and psychiatry.Spoiler

Of course it isn't smooth sailing after they learn their names and identities. They are both rather intensely emotional people, they are not perfect, and their family lives growing up didn't exactly lend themselves to peace and contentment. For instance, Hae Kyung's mother Lee Moon Jung (Jeon Guk Hyang) had abandoned him as a child to become a great professional writer, and then she abruptly returns into his life when he's an adult, to try and make amends, but he finds it difficult to forgive her. Then she dies, and he realizes too late that he should have given her the peace of his forgiveness.

STILL Make Me Cry!
Hae Kyung's former love Jin No Eul (Son Na Eun), a model, doesn't quite seem to want to give him up, especially to Do Hee. Then the boyfriend whom Do Hee had dated before Lee Young Dong, named Jung Jae Hyuk (Lee Ji Hoon, another excellent performance), reappears in her life after several years living in Miguk (America), and approaches her again, wanting to re-establish their past romantic relationship. However, she still holds a grudge against him for leaving her abruptly at the time and never giving his reason to her for leaving suddenly for America.

On some level Do Hee does seem to still care for the troubled Jae Hyuk, but her growing feelings for Hae Kyung are a definite impediment. Jae Hyuk had been a mental patient dealing with issues of an abusive father, and his current psychiatrist named Keanu (Park Ho San, who played one of the brothers in My Mister) sends him to Hae Kyung for therapy, feeling he would be able to help him more. But Jae Hyuk knows all too well that Do Hee is dating Hae Kyung, and part of him wants to break them up, so he engages in several disturbed acts to increase the chances of that happening. Will he succeed, or will he eventually realize that he can never find happiness in his own life if he is hellbent on destroying others' lives? Will compassionate psychiatrist Hae Kyung be able to effectively help his patient when he knows that same patient is going after the girl he has grown to love too?Spoiler
Although Dinner Mate, on the surface, is a lovely light romantic comedy (and I giggled quite a few times at some very amusing scenes), it does have its deeper themes of revenge and unhappiness and loneliness, and how to recover from those lifestyle choices and situations. I'm thankful I didn't have to watch this lovely series on some horrible bootleg site, with all their nasty screen bugs and spyware and malware and Trojans invading computer systems and cell phones, but that a friend gave me cleaner movie files for it. Nice to have it for posterity, since most legal streaming sites didn't carry it, especially not a wise decision after lead actress Seo Ji Hye's worldwide success in Crash Landing On You. However, if you love the actors you really should track it down and watch it. It's a pleasurable escape from today's harsh world for awhile. Romance is King! (at least on screen here). Enjoy!-

KDrama Review: Dinner Mate
A recent app discovery for me is iQYI, which is a streaming service that features Asian dramas and movies. It is free to use, but it has ads in between while you watch videos (think TV commercials when watching free TV). When I first discovered the app, I also discovered a Korean series that I got hooked on: Dinner Mate starring Song Seung Heon (Autumn in My Heart) and Seo Ji Hye (Crash Landing on You).
Also known by its other titles Let’s Have Dinner Together and Would You Like to Have Dinner Together, the series is about two people who decide to become dinner mates: two people who will go on dinners together just so they can have a meal with someone and talk freely about things without the necessity of having a relationship because they do not know each other’s names, where they are from or what they do for a living.In this series, Seun Heon plays Kim Hae Kyun, a doctor/psychiatrist who specializes in food therapy. Ji Hye, on the other hand, plays a producer for an online media company. Both have had their hearts broken by their exes and both end up in Jeju Island at the same time and end up having dinner together, which starts the dinners that they have together back in the city.
There is a lot of discussion about how sharing a meal with someone is a big deal and says a lot about the type of relationship you can have with a person. There was this part where they say that if they are not comfortable eating with the person that you do not want to be with that person at all. How sometimes we adapt how we eat with someone just because we still want to be with that person. Basically, it means meals with someone is a big deal. They have a point, I guess I just never thought about that until I saw this series.
As with any romantic series, the dinner mates evolve into a couple and of course, there are people (particularly, their exes) who try to get in the way of that. There are a lot of subplots in this story, but they all work well to develop the relationship that the leads have with each other. Being a show that features a psychiatrist as the male lead, there were also subplots about mental health.
At first, I thought this would be an age-gap romance since I remember Song Seung Heon from his earlier work and knew he’d probably be in his 40s by now (even if he doesn’t look it) and that his co-star was much younger. I was wrong though. Turns out Seo Ji Hye, who looks like she is in her 20s, is 35! She looks so young!
There were several cameos in the show, like the one featuring Kim Jun Hyun, who played Ji Hye’s love interest from Crash Landing on You. My favorite however would have to be Sandara Park, who played herself as a patient of Song Seung Heon’s character. When her name was shown as a patient, I did not expect it to be her and that she would be playing herself. It was an amusing scene to watch when she was getting treated for her eating disorder.
I loved the romance in this series. It was not forced, it all felt like everything was just falling into place naturally. There were no over the top romantic moments. It seemed like the way most real love stories develop, which in this case was a friendship that turned into a relationship as they got to know each other better.
Dinner Mates only has 16 episodes so it is a quick watch. It is worth the binge. At least for me, it is!

If you are looking for something romantic, then Dinner Mate is a perfect choice. I actually started watching only because of Seo Ji Hye, I started admiring her since Crash Landing On You. Dinner Mate Korean drama emphasizes that things can work out in the most unexpected way. Depression and other mental disorders are so rampant nowadays, which is a serious problem to deal with!!!
Healthy love doesn’t hurt, it heals.

Dinner Story:
Woo Do Hee (Seo Ji Hye) has been in love with Jung Jae Hyuk for years. But suddenly she caught him red-handed cheating. Kim Hae Kyung meets his patients by dining with them. In one of his consultations, he accidentally meet Woo Do Hee. He thought to help Woo Do Hee to overcome her pain.
SpoilerAfter having her heartbroken, Woo Do Hee shows no sign of pain. People might think that she was not really hurt at all. But there are just some scars that can’t be seen, and can only be felt. Kim Hae Kyung and Woo Do Hee turned into dinner mates who enjoy delicious food and talks about their interest once in a while.

They both decided not to reveal their identities and personal life. Without knowing Kyung’s occupation, she was able to survive the most painful day of her life by having someone to look after her who does not ask for details, but still understands the words that were not spoken.

Past Love:
When they both start falling for each other, Ex-lovers who left scars in Woo Do Hee and Kim Hye Kyung’s lives reappear as if nothing has happened and tries to restore their position. Without giving a second thought to how they (the ones they left) feel, all they want to do is force their love.
SpoilerBasically, this drama is all about how Woo Do Hee and Kim Hye Kyung overcomes their first love and heals themselves by finding their true love who cares for each other’s opinions.
Cameo Appearance:
Jung Hyun Kim make a cameo appearance in Dinner Mate Korean drama and that is one of the reasons that brought me into this drama. In Crash Landing On You, I really wanted a happy ending for Seo Dan (Seo Ji Hye) and Gu Seung Joon (Jung Hyun Kim)
Though their combination portions are short in dinner mate, they really look great together.

Song Seung Heon and Seo Ji Hye have nailed their roles and they perfectly fit in their roles and of course the chemistry between them was great. This drama proves that people who may seem perfectly fine on the outside might also have struggles they’ve been trying to hide their pain. Watch Dinner Mate Korean drama for a light romance!!!

They meet unexpectedly on Jeju Island, upon their return to Seoul they meet again by coincidence and decide to become dinner mates without acknowledging each other's name or other personal information.

Cast:
For the most part I enjoyed Do Hee as our female lead. She seems to have terrible luck when it comes to finding love even though she has a bright-bubbly personality and is very witty when in PD Woo work mode. I find her to be an extremely refreshing person even if I did get slightly annoyed with her towards the end over some petty reasons. The problems I have with her is I didn't find Doo Hee to be affection enough towards Hae Kyong like at times he deserved better. I seriously don't know if it's a trend in dramas right now but I feel like I keep watching leads who lack at expressing affection and again Do Hee is one of those characters. Don't get me wrong, I know she loves Hae Kyong but damn she sure has a funny way of showing it while playing hard to get half the time and I'm not going to lie she seems to have a soft spot for her ex-boyfriend Jae Hyuk which is never a good sign. I can't complain about Do Hee too much though because she is seriously adorable no matter what.

An easy on the eyes male lead can never disappoint when it comes to winning my heart over and Kim Hae Kyong done did that. He is a down-to-earth man oozing with charisma who might seem cold at first (espeically for someone who has a job as a psychiatrist) but was only hurt in his past from his mother and last lover. At times I felt bad because all we could do was just watch him go through so much crap like dealing with his ex-girlfriend, a stalker Jae Hyuk, an unaffectionate Do Hee and to top it all off losing his mother in a later episode after rebuilding his bond with her like this man could never catch his breath. However, through it all I saw a strong-willed sweetheart with a great sense of humor and a gentleman who treated Do Hee like a damn queen. If he doesn't scream husband material to any of you people, I don't know what kind of man does then. To finish this pharagraph off I'm just going to say that Kim Hae Kyong has no terrible qualities and there is nothing to not like about him.

While making himself out to be the worst second lead, there are not enough words to describe how frustrating Jung Jae Hyuk is and every time I saw him I wanted to spit in his face. I have despised him for as long as I can remember, we went down a very irritating road together but I can at least admit he has great character development and we all should know by now that Lee Ji Hoon never disappoints with his acting skills. Jung Jae Hyuk is introduced to us as Do Hee's ex-boyfriend and first love from college who broke up with her over text message before "study abroad" but dares to come back for a second chance. He already sounds suspicious and crazy, am I right? Well, turns out he is a complete pyschopath who is very possessive over Do Hee and also seems to have terrible anger issues. He is completely indenial over his actions and it doesn't help that Do Hee covered up for him while using his mental illness as an excuse when instead she should have been pushing him to get psychological treatment with no strings attached or cutting all ties off from him for good. I seriously lost all hope in Jae Hyuk but omg I'm surprisingly proud of him because he blossoms into this optimistic old soul who is striving to find himself again and I finally felt at peace with this character.

Well ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves another terrible second lead. No surprise though since Son Na Eun who I remember from "Cinderella and the Four Knights" portrays Jin No Eul and I find her acting to be not that impressive. So, when it comes to Jin No Eul, she has no redeeming qualities unlike Jae Hyuk and I can't believe I'm saying this because he was ten times worse in many ways. She is introduced to us as Kim Hae Kyong's ex-girlfriend who dumped him for having a boring personality but has the nerve to come back while wanting to give their relationship another try... like RickRoll'D is this? Do these two second leads really think their ex-lovers have been moping around after all these years waiting them to come back? I don't think so! No Eul seemed to be hung up on Hae Kyong until the very end but uses all of her energy on building her own business which is refreshing to see for once. They also sort of hinted at No Eul and Jae Hyuk being a thing and I can actually picture them being a couple so where ever that was leading to, I'm down with it.

I'm not going to lie when I say that this drama definitely looked boring just from seeing the posters and teasers so I went in with low expectations. However, I'm glad I gave it a chance because the whole meaning behind the story is heartwarming. The drama showcases the simple meaning of having a meal with someone even if it's with a complete stranger. We all have busy lives so we can easily forget the small things in life like eating with loved ones and "Dinner Mate" really enhances that important value. Although, at times I found the true and deep meaning overshadowed by all the clichés, romance, and trashy second leads but just scrape off those first few layers and you'll find the gold. The leads surprisingly shocked me with their chemistry and I didn't know how well they would connect since I never seen any of Song Seung Heon's works before but wow they seriously were a match made in heaven. The whole cast is great though especially the supporting (A Yung and Keanu were the truly the best) which is another plus. I admit that I got extremely attached to the drama more than I thought I would so to be honest it's hard to believe how underrated the series actually is.

Watch: Song Seung Heon Vows To Find Mysterious Murderer In “Voice 4”
May 24, 2021“Voice 4” has unveiled a new teaser!
“Voice,” which aired its first season in 2017, is a drama about an emergency call center and the employees who fight crime using the limited information they get from the urgent calls they receive. The upcoming fourth season will pit the Golden Time Team against a vicious murderer with extraordinary hearing abilities that rival their own.
Lee Ha Na will be reprising her role as the voice profiler Kang Kwon Joo in the fourth season, while Song Seung Heon will be joining the cast as Derek Jo, a unit leader at the Los Angeles Police Department who winds up collaborating with the Golden Time Team.
The new teaser starts with Derek Jo entering a crime site with Kang Kwon Joo’s guidance. She urgently says, “I hear the victim’s voice. Please hurry. There’s no time.” The scene changes, and Derek Jo can be seen on a security camera. Someone is spying on him, and it’s most likely the villain. The teaser gave a glimpse of the mysterious murderer who is wearing a black raincoat. She wears a spine-chilling smile on her face and laughs mercilessly, hinting that she is not your everyday villain.
Derek Jo enters a room and finds a corpse in a black bag that is wrapped in glistening lights. He looks more serious than ever, and there is a glint of annoyance in his eyes. He says, “Whatever monster you are, I’ll catch you.”
“Voice 4” premieres on June 18 at 10:50 p.m. KST.

Top Daily Reporter Seo Sang-hyun = A five-minute highlight video has been released announcing the beginning of the 'Voice 4' Golden Time Team and the circus man crew's sparkly invitational battle.
'Voice 4: Time of Judgment' (directed by Shin Yong-hwi/played by Ma Jin-won) (hereinafter referred to as 'Voice 4') is a sound chase thriller depicting the fierce records of the members of the 112 Reporting Center who defend the golden time at the crime scene. Meanwhile, 'Voice 4' side is drawing attention by releasing a 5-minute highlight video that foreshadows the counterattack of Derek Jo (Song Seung-heon) and Kang Kwon-joo (Lee Ha-na), who are embroiled in a brutal crime.
The released highlight video raises the level of immersion by including the story of how principled detective Derek Jo and voice profiler Kwon-joo Kang collaborated in a tense nerve battle, and the appearance of a circusman in the 'supervised killer'.
In particular, the circus man, who knows the secret of Kang Kwon-ju's hearing, creates tension with the heinous evil of committing murder after sending a notice of murder in a sound only she can hear. Most of all, “He was reading me just as I predicted his behavior. Kang Kwon-joo’s line, “Set a trap with a sound that only I can hear,” amplifies the curiosity about a terrible monster that has never been seen.
In the meantime, Derek Jo's younger sister Seung-ah Jo (played by Lee Dam), who witnessed the murder of a family by a circusman gang, is selected as their next target, giving a thrill.
