This loveline should be safe after last night video of SHB’s casting

There should not be any ridiculous changes to loveline. But i think the minority will not be able to handle it and will continue their dark path :phew:

I’m so glad they released the video. There will always be a minority group that continues to pound their theories to anyone who will listen. But at least the rest of the world has heard it from PD/Writer that WG story was already determined before casting. I’m just glad Iksong and WG couples and fans can rest assure their couple is endgame. Thank goodness...any other crazy theories about SH falling or chasing any of the other 3 guys is out the door.  Like Rosa says to the lawyer in episode 1...”yes, it’s over. The END.” lol

Yup I agree HAHA I have my own telepathic friendships and we act exactly the same when a topic has been brought up and we share a secret about it. We look at each other and we instantly know what we’re thinking  Look at how loyal Jwon is, he brushed-off the topic of SHwa rejecting SH by saying she likes someone with a nervous laughter. This man really doesn’t know how to lie LOL

Thanks for the slow motion video. I have watched that scene many times and Jwon was the one I could not figured out. I was also stumped on Songhwa’s look, her eyes looked like it was saying something to someone, but the camera moved so fast it was hard to pin point who she was looking at. But after ep 12 and rewatching in slow motion, it all makes sense now. The PD left us all these clues...we just didn’t know they were clues the first time we saw them.

Welcome @signupabove @Anindyaswari Kiranaratri Hope you enjoy here...:cookie:

I noticed it when I watched the show live...but forgot all about it.  I remember chuckling when I saw how Songhwa place her instrument next to Ikjun’s.  I assumed it was another ‘subtle’ hint from the PD.

  4. @Anindyaswari Kiranaratri Welcome! I didn’t initially ship anyone because I just wanted to only watch their friendship. I still do.  I also read flower garden theory too and I was almost sold. So much so I decided to watch Reply 1988 so I could understand the references.  But the iksong clues after episode 6 were too hard to write off. Plus the scenes got too sweet for me not to get sweep up.

  5. @KDramaFan0828 @Jules  I’m sad that IJ won’t be able to have lunch or go out for drives in the rain with Songwha anymore. She won’t be close enough to fly over in the middle of night to look after a sick Uju if IJ is on call. They won’t get to drink coffee together anymore. My Iksong ❤️ is slowly breaking at all those potential lost moments.  Life is so short, esp now in their 40s, to not jump at a second chance at love. I know it’s more complicated at 40 than at 20...but I hope the storyline they create is beautiful.  Because I need to live vicariously thru them. My soon to be 40 self needs some hope that if I was ever single again and had a second chance with my first love....It’s possible. Lol

  6. Lots of good analysis on the when or if Jwon knows about Iksong’s feelings towards one another.  I see a lot of posts here and there (over the past few weeks) questioning why Jwon would set IJ up with his friend if he knew about either sides “crush”.  Just my opinion....

*Ep 2- flashback of Rejection of YSH is 1999

*Ep 7 - Dr. Bong states later on that IJ dated a lot and Songhwa was campus couple (end of freshmen year or sophomore)  1999-2000?

*Ep 3 - Jwon makes the comment that he introduced his friend (now wife) to IJ

*Ep 6 - Jwan points out that IJ never falls for a girl first and only married his ex after she chased him for months (how many and what year, we don’t know)

*we do know Uju is around 5 years old

    (approx year born 2013/14)

So depending on how long IJ and ex took to have Uju after getting married, I’m going to assume more than 10 years passed since the 1999 confession by YSH when IJ finally got married.

My opinion is that regardless of what Jwon knew/knows/whose side, there was more than enough time that passed for him to comfortably introduce IJ to his ex.  If either IJ or Songhwa never moved on from 1999, I’m sure he would have hesitated to introduce the ex. I think it’s reasonable to assume we all want our friends to be happy...so if they aren’t harboring any visible feelings towards an old ‘crush/love’, I would introduce my friend to a new person too. lol

  7. My iksong ❤️ is so happy.  I love all your detailed analyses of the scenes, the videos and images  @Lawyerh @Jules @ryanallright @kawaiiprincess1987 @superspace @ic3chubb3 @KDramaFan0828

So many great analyses that I don't have much to add...just random thoughts on the scenes that stayed with me the most after I re-watched episode 2.  As some pointed out earlier, in episode 2's dinner scene, I noticed that Songhwa was the only one that laughed at Ikjun's phone introduction with SH's mom.  While she didn't laugh out loud as we see in later episodes, this is the first time the PD/writer subtly shows us that she is the only one that finds jokes 'funny.'  The guys don't seem fazed and brush it off with looks of annoyance and move on with their conversations.

At the funeral scene, I noticed how flustered IJ was when the director asked them about romance.  When I initially watched this scene, I didn't think anything of it because the writer had confirmed that he was 'married' just a few minutes earlier, ruling him out as someone she liked. In those first few minutes, the duo made me  rule out SH and Ikjun as possible love interests (and that there was no love triangle) because these were the only two that had married at some point.  I do find it interesting that she didn't respond to Juwan's 'cookie cutter' comment but she looked flustered/sad when she looked at IJ  and responded that she did like someone.  Why did she automatically respond to IJ's statement that men get that answer all the time, that women like someone else? It's been 20 years since they first met and SH confessed on her birthdate and I note that none of the guys teased her about liking someone -- so my conclusion is that she liked IJ and she was telling him it was 'you' indirectly.  I don't think most people would directly deny liking someone if they had liked them in the past, they'd just nod or look uncomfortable if someone put them on the spot and asked if they liked so and so. While episode 2 doesn't show a lot of interactions, the scenes that are shown do provide a lot of subtle clues of there being some type of history with Iksong.

regarding IkSong couple, I am that person who is going back and forth between whether Songhwa's first love is Ikjun or someone else (and I am pretty much convinced it's Junwan, anyone with me?). But reading the interview of Shin PD, it could be debunked. And idk why I think IkSong will be another slow burn romance in S2 as it seems Songhwa is contemplating a lot and careful abt it. I feel that IkSong will end up tgt at the end of S2 just like Winter Garden is concluded at the end of S1 or even at the end of S3 lol sorry!

While anything is possible, I doubt Junwan is her first love. She’s very comfortable around him and she admires his good looks and whatever charm he has and so it’s possible to believe that’s her first love.

Junwan, from my observation seems to be oblivious about any relationship in the group as seen in Ep. 2 and in Ep. 11 when he tells Iksun there’s nothing going on between Iksong.  He told cheating Bf that the guy was old fashion for assuming men and women could not be friends.   So if he’s her first love, it’s pretty one sided (which is sad and my heart hurts for her) because we haven’t been shown that he likes her in a romantic way. If he is her first love, why does it matter now, what’s the value added to the Iksong storyline,  important questions I would hope they would show us. Also I don’t understand how they would point out in her bio about her first love was  in her 20s (hinting at something), then build a love line with Ikjun, only to have it muddied with Junwan as first love. Too many people/friendships would be hurt if there was anything significant with Junwan and Songwha. I don’t see the writer going this route, too messy and it’s not Grey’s Anatomy drama style (thank goodness).

The love line is pretty much confirmed as Iksong. Ep 1 as PD stated has hints that point to them liking one another. Ep 6 confirms that they met during med school interview and iksong were stealing glances, songwha follows the duo after they are seen leaving, at band practice, she asks ikjun pointing to the cake if it’s for her (why didn’t she turn to Junwan and ask him?) there’s a text exchange where they should meet up. While I agree with many that we want to see Songwha’s POV on these scenes, maybe it is both their POVs. It doesn’t seem like the writer/pd are trying to trick us, we just have our own interpretation of what we see and sometimes our biases prevent us from seeing what’s obvious.  :)

  9. Thank you for sharing all your insights on episode 1 and Shin PD’s interview.  I’m so glad it’s confirmed that the subtle hints we were picking out were really hints for us on their storyline.  I can’t wait for season 2 and now I know not to expect Iksong to jump into a relationship and tie a knot by end of season 2.  As I watched their story unfold, I asked myself, if I was 40, and my first love confessed after all these years, I wouldn’t be jumping up and down either. Love is definitely different at 40 than 20. I’ll patiently wait for the writer to show us what love looks and feels like in your 40s.

  10. @Chu_Qiao thanks for posting the video. So beautiful.

Probably has no significance but I have been curious if the Karaoke scene in episode 3 was before or after CSW’s birthday.  In the karaoke scene, IJ and KJW had highlights but in the flashbacks of the other scenes, he doesn’t have highlights yet.   Hmmmm...so was IJ declaring  his love before he confessed with the ring?

  11. @Prettysup it was the drawer that AJW kept this rosaries. It’s now empty because he has decided not to pursue priesthood. That’s why KJW had a smile on his face when he saw the empty drawer.

Earlier in the episode, when Ikjun was in their office, he took candy from KJW’s drawer and then he went over to AJW’s desk, opened the drawer. That’s when the catholic music was played and then he did a funny band gesture as he closed the drawer, I’m guessing to show that it was “holy/sacred.”

  12. @kawaiiprincess1987 I wondered the same thing too. It seemed like all IJ and ACH’s confessions or actions that made her look and feel confused didn’t happen. I found it interesting that even though ACH crossed the line twice in episode 11, she never said anything to stop him from trying again. I was surprised at his boldness to even consider transferring to be with her when she never led him on. Yet, she brushed it off and kept it professional, not really addressing the elephant in the room.  With IJ, let’s just say she was annoyed in the taxi and at the karaoke or she didn’t know how to respond, it’s wierd that the next time we see them together on screen, it’s like none of the events of that night happened. I’m hoping in Season 2, we get her POV and maybe they’ll shed some light as to how they all handled their emotions and relationships the days following the confessions. I know I wouldn’t be comfortable or act like nothing happened if I was in her shoes. It’ll be interesting to see how the writer tells her story.

  13. I hear you.  I don't watch a lot of television or dramas and only started once I was stuck inside.  I noticed a lot of product placement in the Korean and Chinese dramas and was very surprised.  I didn't realize that there was such a concept as 'product placement' until I started watching these dramas.  I've never paid attention before, but I don't recall seeing products being placed in American television shows or movies. The long coats and outwear they show aren't my style but I'm sure there fans that buy whatever their favorite actor/actress is wearing on the shows.

  14. @JJS's Fan-atics Great job with your analysis!  I really wanted no romance within the group, but I'm a sucker for second chance love stories so after episode 6, I was sold on Iksong. I enjoyed reading everyone's points on the different ships, but eventually, I  had to stop reading the posts for FlowerGarden ship or Junwan/SongHwa ship because they didn't make sense.  I can't believe I doubted myself because I started to worry that FlowerGarden ship might have some merit.  But episode 12, Wintergarden ship sailed and I breathed a sigh of relief.  WHEW!

In ep 1, ikjun went to Yulje to remove his helmet of all hospital and we know songhwa is the only one who worked there at that time. Coincidence? I think not. But that would mean he has feeling for her eventhough he was married at that time. Well not impossible though

@milkokoa I was trying to figure out where he worked (which they didn't tell us, if I'm correct), and why he didn't go to his hospital, but to Yulje too. They also didn't show it us, so I was 'surprised' that CSW knew that IJ was in the ER and could operate on the patient.  And then, when IJ finished the surgery, why didn't they talk face2face?  Why did they communicate with a door between them?  And her smile when she was talking to him.  These were all clues and questions I had as I re-watched ep 1.

@signupabove hi there. I did not watch any of the reply series so what you wrote it is just a new information for me, but this is a usual pattern for any drama or movie in the whole world that the main hero & heroine are casted/decided first & then other casting is done. Plus the main cast members & main couple sit next to the PD & to each other , this is what exactly happened here, we can see that in the first script reading pictures posted on the main thread , JJS is sitting right next to PD & JMD is next to JJS.

And by the way in the picture YYS& SHB are standing together , and they ended up together in S1.

Thanks for sharing. I didn’t start watching K-dramas until COVOID-19 forced me to stay home, so I’m slowly learning about these patterns. I do find it funny that despite what you just pointed out, there were so many people arguing only their ship was the right ship because of the bread crumbs the writer had left.

    Thank you @Lawyerh.

Now when this thread is made, I think I hardly would go to the main thread and camp here most of the time. Because in the main thread because of the popularity of the drama , there are a lot of posters who writes every thing in so much detail that I usually do not left with to write much. Which is actually good because then I just have to read the thread. Anyways I do not have a doubt equal to a grain of salt that IkSong is not the end game.

IkSong is the end game. This thought occurred to me when JJS was announced to act in the drama. Because he was the first to be contacted , I knew right there & then he is going to be paired with the main lady. And every one can take the screenshot of my post , I am 100%  sure Ik Jun is made for SongHwa ,& vice versa. No matter how much time it will take, no matter which path it will take but they will end up together.

I agree with you. I watched Reply 1988 after reading multiple theories by people on this forum. Then, I scoured the soompi forum of Reply 1988. Based on what I read, Park Bo Gum was also the first casted and since his character didn’t have much screen time until after episode 4, everyone just shipped the FL with Jungpal.  In HP, JJS first to cast, Ikjun was introduced last in episode 1, was married with a child, so we were supposed to believe there would be no history or love line.  After ep 6, I also went back to rewatch all the earlier episodes multiple times to look for the clues I missed. Lol. Im with everyone on this thread, Iksong is endgame. I don’t know how long it will take to get them there, but I don’t think the writers would not give our “in-ssa” a happy ending.

  18. Thanks for creating this thread. I’ve been reading so many theories supporting Songhwa with everyone else in the group, I almost gave up hope on Iksong.  But I figured the triangle storyline between IJ-Songwha-ACH wouldn’t have developed if the end game was KJW, AJW or YSH. I couldn’t understand why the writer would dedicate one season to building up Iksong story only to tear it down in season 2. Plus, too many people and relationships would be destroyed just so CSH could end up with KJW or AJW.  Now that aside, I love his confession scenes. I remember in ep6, KJW said that IJ has never pursued a girl, so I am curious to find out if CSH’s confused or not knowing how to respond reactions are because this is totally out of his character.

Also, as much as I hate triangles and conflicts in stories, I can’t help but wonder, will the writer throw in another triangle for him next season? IJ is everywhere and friends with everyone and busy playing Cupid. The friends mentioned girls chased after him and he dated a lot in college. Go Ara returned briefly as an ex, but there has been no one chasing this gorgeous, fun loving man.  I really hope not because I just want to see Iksong love story develop.
