@Yori Ten Also TQ is adding a couple of Pillow Book outtakes into the mortal arc volume of Lotus Step. Please look forward to it!!!

Lotus Step mortal arc is a complete volume so I might be tempted to start once it's published.i just dislike waiting for volume 2 if there is a continuity from the previous volume. But since 七姐 said it isn't so, I will trust her.

But I actually like this part. DHDJ and FengJiu is not fate to be together, they should not even meet each other. It at level that will of the heaven intervene (Are you JX?) to separate them. We also know that DHDJ is fate to be with no one. But who is fate to be with FengJiu none other than Ye Qing Ti. So will of the heaven dress Ye Qing Ti up as DHDJ, have little Bai Gun Gun take DHDJ role in future. And finally destined DHDJ to death. But FengJiu choose to fight and die with DHDJ. The sword that cut a rope that Ye Qing Ti bind her is actually cut the fate that force her to be with Ye Qing Ti and shatter will of the heaven that force the death of DHDJ so they can be together forever, or that stone of fate going to be smashed.

Hey, thanks for the insight. I see that your view is very fresh and I haven't even thought it this way before. However...drum rolls..

FJ will never ever choose YQT even if DH did perish. Her love for DH spanned across three lifetimes, three worlds. It would be unthinkable that she would accept anyone else but DH.

Also, DH warned YQT to stay away from FJ and cut off all ties with her. If DH isn't around anymore, he would still have his bros and a lot of eyes watching him. He wouldn't have the slightest chance to get it on with FJ, even if he dared try.

The heavens created a trial for them as a real test to DH and FJ relationship. Fate might be cruel but FJ proved it time and again that destiny is in her hands. DH never feared it. So you have a combination of two very powerful forces at work here. Powerful enough to break the heaven's mandate. YQT was a plot device and was never meant to receive FJ's love, not in the mortal realm and certainly not in the immortal realm.

I'm aghast. Our baby Qingti also got dragged in the mud?

Whoever posted that...take a hike! Ye Qingti was DH's heir apparent because he got FJ's half of her fairy essences! It's a nod to FJ! Not kissing up to him!

YQ was loyal to SXR for most of his life except that time he helped FJ run away. He also saved FJ's life when he shielded her from the jealous half brother of SXR's demon knife. What's the name of that prince again?? LOL!!!

Can we throw the book to that poster...and tie him/her to a chair to make him/her watch the whole mortal arc, then Ep53-finale???

When they lost like this, I really want to know now what they're drinking or smoking!

The thing is, one loud disgruntled person have actually lead others to also agree that YQT is a weak character. There were more replies discounting YQT's merit and just basically hated on him. I dunno why no one saw what we saw or felt what we felt. Those agreeing with OP seems to have exactly the same misunderstanding and it's such a shame that they can't see things straight. That's the thing sometimes but anyways, YQT can be happy over here because we all love you very much. Hehe..

@Aari sky Hmm, you'll have to back read a lot of pages! :sweatingbullets:

      Reveal hidden contents

Many don't want JH in the mortal arc, and a lot of her scenes were not only pointless but too long in other arcs as well.

It could be concession to the actress, as she's the former owner of the rights to adapt the story as series. She had wanted to play FJ. Thankfully, the role was still reprised by Reba, and even DH by Vengo.

Giving credit where it's due, she is part of why ELOD has seen the light of the day. She's also very effective as JH. Though if you backread from mid March until even recently, she had courted some controversies about her posts on JH.

@Aari sky I think JH is the third most discussed character here so in a way, she did manage to create a lot of buzz for herself. :tounge_wink:

I was reading a very interesting discussion on another platform but I didn't want to create another forum account just to reply, haha, so might as well discuss this with you ladies here.

The subject of their discussion is Ye Qing Ti. I didn't know that he could brush someone off the wrong way because I think over here we are all big fan of his. But I do like constructive criticism and feedback and I think the OP did well in presenting her dissatisfaction.

    Spoiler

    OP post :

Okay! The fact he became immortal through the help of Feng Jiu because she wants to repay him when he sacrificed himself in the mortal realm for saving her.... That's fine and understandable. And that's already good enough but I didn't like the fact that he replaced Donghua in gaining that title "Di Jun (the successor to Taichen Palace) where he got that high status as a god because, he didn't achieve that with his own skills.. it's like he was given this position on a silver platter and that's very urgh

His immortal status and immortal powers that got transferred to him is one thing but him being the successor of Taichen Palace is another, which feels like it's been given to him on a silver platter and that is really  to me. Donghua made him the successor because he was going to sacrifice himself and bring down Miao Luo with him since he knows he didn't have much time left. So that was his decision, but I wish it wasn't. This apparently is one thing I don't like about the ending because I dislike the fact how everything is just given to Ye Qingti like that. I mean why does it feel like everyone is kissing up to him? When he is just average at best (in my eyes?), And personally I find that frustrating to be honest since he did not work or gain this status(power) with his own skills but it was just given to him when he was made the successor to Taichen Palace...

I know it would probably be happier if Donghua live a secluded life with Fengjiu and withdraw from worldly affairs, but this outcome where he's no longer Di Jun makes me sad. But in my eyes, he's forever the only Di Jun to me, NOT Ye Qingti.

Firstly, he was asked to replace Dong Hua as the PIC of Tai Chen Palace. His duty is to oversee all the newly ascended immortals and to to confer ranks to them according to their abilities etc. He is not replacing DH as The Master of the Universe. It is a title that can't be pass onto the next person. I think the OP could have mistaken this part and thus felt as if YQT got it easy.

Secondly, DH chose YQT because FJ transferred half her cultivation to him. So, DH didn't choose YQT out of nothing. YQT still needs to train and go through trials to gain more cultivation. It's wrong to assume that once he has gotten the title of a successor to Tai Chen palace, he will immediately ascend to high god and get that bypass card.

With this two points alone, I think it's enough to tell OP that they have misunderstood YQT and baby was put into a corner. ;)

Even though they are supposed to be the mortal DHDJ in both instances, SXR look more cuter and funnier as emperor compared to the emperor in TMOPB.

Maybe because he is portrayed to be younger, the feel and actions he gave us makes us as watchers feel more light-hearted when watching the drama.

Hehe, yes, a fresh young emperor who still have wet dreams about his consort! Such a sweet little thing!

i don't know a lot about the movie situation. what i do know is that when peach blossoms was airing, people were like "after gwg there is no donghua dijun", it was the role that brought him a lot of fame and made him known to the audience. then when pillowbook (drama) was announced, all the fans complained and yelled and cried and made it very adamant that if gwg did not reprise his role, they would not watch the drama. they are both then cast. the drama airs. the consensus "after gwg there is no donghua dijun" is even stronger. i would feel very bad for any male actor who (if) decides to play donghua dijun for the movie.

see, if they make a movie version, the biggest fan base would be the book fans & now the new drama fans. if you richard simmons both of them off by not recasting dlrb & gwg, then you lose that market, and your movie won't do well.

i don't think they'll be doing a movie for pillowbook anytime soon. if they do, it would be a very bad business decision to not recast dlrb & gwg. i also think it is unlikely that dlrb & gwg will reprise their roles (as we know that rb fans greatly dislike rb working w/ jaywalk actors, especially ones named gao weiguang)

if they do decide to film a movie version, (movie versions of highly successful dramas usually don't go well) then it really will be three lives, three worlds. :)

I agree with your analysis. Also to add, V in his latest interview said that in the coming 3 years, he would like to take on different roles and show a different side as an actor to the audience. Being typecasted is a curse to any actor and I think he is smart enough not to fall into this pit.

Moreover, since he is hot commodity nowand have gotten more famous, a lot of new opportunities will open up for him. Taking on the role of DHDJ the third time won't do him any good, it would be like taking a step backward.

As much as I love seeing V and R reprising their roles, I would also like to see them in different production that could really showcase their acting abilities. V especially is very talented and he could go any genre : action, romance, melo, comedy, period etc. Such versality shouldn't be wasted being stuck in one role.

  7. @pawla He was just called 皇帝, Emperor. Not even a proper name was given to him, unlike our Song 大宝 ( fans nicknamed him Song Precious). Hehe..

皇帝 had a whole harem and children and I still feel a sour taste in my mouth when  FJ consummated with him. Ugh..girl, even though you are in Consort Chen's physical body, consummation is not only about physical exchanges. Emotionally, you are still Bai Feng Jiu. That's why when I saw fans commenting that it wasn't FJ who did it with the emperor coz it wasnt even her body, I felt a bit bitter.

@Yori Ten Though even without FJ, the appearance of JH will be totally wrecking Si Ming's story in a different way.

JH never even give an eye to SXR and was busy looking for the Lingbi stone right? She's one weird character in the mortal arc though. Let's say we take FJ out of the picture, I really doubt SXR would develop any interest in her. If I am not mistaken, XSR will only show the stone to the one he truly loves. So without FJ, it could be ZMX instead.

So true. I found that many scenes have been cut. Such a shame though consider we wouldn’t mind more of Vengo n Reba :). I hope they would release all the uncut version at some point because it will helps to clarify the story as well.

We are all waiting for it. Not much that we can do besides hoping. Have you signed the petition yet?

We got some sort of confirmation that WeTV Thailand and Vietnam are preapring the uncut version but haven't heard anything since.

Si Ming described it as having to endure the agony of staying with someone she doesn't love. She would have become a concubine of SXR after she took care of him. When her fate changed, Zhou Mengxi died after getting sick because she didn't have access to medication. Had she met SXR, the emperor could have taken care of her needs. @Yori Ten

So, the FJ variable didn't change ZMX's fate much. Without FJ, she will die from agony and with FJ, she will die from illness. Whoever wrote ZMX's character must have hated her to the core!

The idea of the projection DH in the mortal realm and is in love with someone other than FJ feels wrong! But it makes sense, since DH didn't know she existed at the time.

It was different in TMOPB because DH specifically asked SM to send FJ to the MR so she could repay her debts. In ELoD, FJ went on her own accord after hearing the rumors. DH didn't have a choice here.

    Zhou Mengxi .

Need to re-watched the mortal arc .. because I don't remember much about her.

I just remember.. Siming explain to FJ about her interrupted has changed the storyline of Mortal DH

But according to Siming the mortal DH supposedly in love with her but she didn't love him back so she just stayed at her castle..died because of depression.. I think.

Thanks for her name. The whole mortal arc still remains a bit blurry to me. Did SM tell FJ that even without her interference, ZMX would still die a lonely death? I think she just got banished, fell ill and died.

That was heart breaking. Vengo did a fantastic job as all three characters.

I enjoyed watching SXR, but not his make up. I think the mortal realm needed a few more comedic scenes to make it fun.

Hehe, I personally think SXR is funny. The way he asked YQT to eat and comment on his sweet potato roasting skills was hilarious. He was so happy after finding out that YQT never roasted sweet potatoes in his life, thus confirming that YQT wasn't the person FJ spoke about..he was over the moon. Still angry that they cut the scenes of him roasting the potatoes, he was flipping and trying his best to roast the BEST sweet potatoes ever to rival DH's.

Besides, him getting all pouty and jealous is a sight to behold. I wouldn't mind watching a whole drama with SXR minus the you know who.

Hi there, newbie here. Literally register just so I can follow this forum. Loves the drama, loves the actors and actress, loves the ost. Just finished watch the drama for the third times, don’t have a chance to read the book properly yet hopefully soon.
So I have a question. I read some of the previous comments that mention about 200 days of wedding banquet, is this something that mentioned in the book not in the drama?

So sorry if it has been mentioned before but I can’t bring myself nor the patience to scheme through 650 something pages worth of comment ;)

Thanks guys, you all are awesome

  15. It was a nice touch from ELoD to have DH remember the immense heart break and pain from SXR's experience. Him waking up with tears and and an aching heart..it pains me and Vengo did absolutely wonderful in that scene. He didn't want to get into details at first but the memories haunted him so, he had no choice but to seek the answer from SM. I also felt bad for the original maid, can't remember her name now. What a sad existence she had all because some immortals needed to undergo trials, she had to die a lonely death.

  16. I have seen both Reba and YZ fans attacking each other. Honestly, I wouldn't say one is more guilty or innocent. Fans of both sides are just as brutal and just as uncivilized. However, the celebrity themselves shouldn't suffer because of fans behavior. We have seen how it could go wrong, very wrong. Xiao Zhan case in point.

Hopefully, fans can just calm down and stop with the personal attacks. Both Reba and YZ are good actress and they shouldn't have their image tarnished just because of situation beyond their control.

She's innocent? Oh my bad ,now I feel bad... that's was her fans doing..:dissapointed:

What's kind of fan love the evil selfish manipulative character like JH...? Her Suffering? And they didn't think about FJ's sufferings because of JH's selfishness..

Kind of curious with the said fan did think.. how would they justifed Dongfeng's sufferings due to JH actions.

If I were JH actress ..I certainly go along just say JH is selfish manipulative ..than if a lot of fan "hate" my character I surely happy because apparently I done a very good job at acting..

Don't have to feel bad because she did egged them on with her posts. Had she kept quiet and not try to justify JH's character and actions, her fans wouldn't have been so bold in portraying their so called love and admiration for JH.

FJ is the third wheel from JH's point of view. Period. She even have the audacity to think to herself..'What would Binghai Canglin be like if she was the one there instead of FJ'. Arghhhhh....

Also...what do you think FJ and Zhong lin’s relationship is like now?

ZL is still serving DH, and by extension FJ, but he is clearly on DH’s side.

i can’t get over how he told Si Ming that FJ was gullible. It seems like he’s mocking her.

granted, Si Ming also said FJ was gullible about the whole pregnancy peaches, but he is a good Friend to FJ.

ZL is extremely loyal to DH, no matter what the situation. And DH have 100% trust on him. To ZL, DH's wellbeing come first and that's the reason he was so troubled by FJ. Because in his mind, DH went through hell and back because of her. But he also understands how important FJ is to DH and that is why he never interfered with anything when it comes to FJ.

ZL is courteous and respectful to FJ because of her relationship to DH. But I wouldn't say that they are good friends unlike SM. ZL will take good care of FJ and he even went with her to the Demon Realm looking for DH.

And this JH actress said the JH was the "love hero"? What does she mean?

The actress didn't actually call herself a love hero. It was her fans and the JH character fans who labeled JH as such. I am still scratching my head that there exist fans of the character and how they tried to justify all her actions, sufferings and ultimately her happy ending because she represents a true hero in love. That's how label love hero came about.

Very insightful touch and yes, this speaks volume about DH's perspective. We can apply his thought process to the scriptures he has been reading. Haha, and yeah, most of the time it is really deep stuffs and not only about spiritual studies of the other kind.

  21. I think DH has evolved much beyond reputation and shamelessness.

He is really an enlightened being but unfortunately the same can't be said for his fate in love. The heavens sure have a way to play with him.

There is a very insightful look into his state of mind. He reads Buddhist scriptures but at the same time he also follows the way of the Tao. This was not mentioned much in PB but in ELoD this little detail was added.

In one of the scenes in Aranya's dream, he was seen holding a scripture. It was in his studies. Behind him, hung a cloth with verses of the Dao De Ching. The production team really had an eye for details here. Verses 38 and they are as follows:

    上德不德,是以有德。下德不失德,是以无德。上德无为而无以不为。下德为之而有以不为。上仁为之而无为,上义为之而有以为。上礼为之而莫之应,则攘臂而扔之。故失道而后德,失德而后仁,失仁而后义,失义而后礼。夫礼者,忠信之薄,而乱之首。前识者,道之华,而愚之始。是以大丈夫处其厚而不居其薄,处其实而不居其华。故去彼取此。

The highest virtue is not virtuous.

    Therefore it has virtue.

The lowest virtue holds on to virtue.

    Therefore it has no virtue.

    The highest virtue does nothing.

Yet, nothing needs to be done.

    The lowest virtue does everything.

Yet, much remains to be done.

The highest benevolence acts without purpose.

The highest righteousness acts with purpose.

The highest ritual acts, but since no one cares,

It raises its arms and uses force.

Therefore, when the Way is lost there is virtue.

When virtue is lost there is benevolence.

When benevolence is lost there is righteousness.

When righteousness is lost there are rituals.

Rituals are the end of fidelity and honesty,

    And the beginning of confusion.

Knowing the future is the flower of the Way,

    And the beginning of folly.

    Therefore,

The truly great ones rely on substance,

    And not on surface,

    Hold on to the fruit,

    And not to the flower.

They reject the latter and receive the former

DH was seen reading these verses in the scripture :

    唯之与阿,相去几何?善之与恶,相去若何?人之所畏,不可不畏。荒兮,其未央哉!

    Cease learning, no more worries
    Respectful response and scornful response
    How much is the difference?
    Goodness and evil
    How much do they differ?
What the people fear, I cannot be unafraid

So desolate! How limitless it is!

What a wonderful touch by the production team!
