But he is quick to learn. As soon as FJ asked him to say it, he said it instantly.
His lonely and rather sad upbringing also contributed to his icy facade and lack of comforting words. I feel that his sharp tongue is a coping mechanism to survive a lonely existence prior to becoming the master of the universe. People who have a way with sweet words are usually social butterflies and they tend to care highly on how people view them. DH is definitely someone who simply doesn't care how people perceive him and therefore there is no need to butter up anyone with words.
FJ was brought up in a loving environment and that is why she is very open with her feelings and show all her emotions easily. You can tell when she is upset, happy or annoyed. She is never pretentious and that is one reason why she gets along well woth everyone.
DH is her exact opposite and many times although his displeasure and annoyance is clearly shown on his face, he rarely says what is in his mind. He would rather throw jabs at people than compliment anyone. Even when he is upset, he would not directly say it. People who have offended him wouldn't even know exactly what they did wrong! I am sure even ZL have not heard any words of praise from his master. So, whatever it is that he feels towards FJ are acted upon rather than said. His tongue is better used elsewhere...hehe...

One should pick one's battle wisely and unfortunately for AL, she made the wrong move. No matter how ELoD tried to potray her as the victim of circumstances and bad choices, PB readers know who JH is and what her character is like inside out. Majority of the backlash came from PB fans and most who agreed with her are her personal fans.
I've said this before, while we sympathize with her own personal issues, airing out dirty laundry in public via whitewashing her villainous character backfired terribly on her. Not only did she not gain more sympathy from outsiders, she made herself look bad as an actress. While we believe that a good actress should take inspiration from their real life experiences and try to insert them into their character potrayal, you cannot change the way a character is written. You need to understand the author's intention and the character's motivation. She did a disservice not only to fans of PB and to fans of ELoD but she also displaced her own moral compass.

there's been a video circulating for couple months of gwg in the office signing photos from like 2019. he signs a couple of donghua and sees a picture of him & rb (pillowbook promo pic). he looks to his assistant and is like "can i sign it?” （he knows he can't) and the assistant/worker takes the picture, while gwg has sad puppy eyes, licks his lips, and swallows.
(i think this is one of the most concrete proofs we've found. this is why i have such firm, steady, unwavering belief in this ship. who has sad puppy eyes and swallows for a "normal coworker"/friend? )
Yeah, we were just talking about this. Have not followed many Chinese CP before so wouldn't know the ins and outs. Is it something like a secret conduct for Chinese artists not to sign CP pictures of themselves? I highly doubt there is such an unwritten rule but just asking if you know.

Hehe, read something interesting. Remember when FJ got drunk at the wedding banquet and DH had to carry her back to Qing Yun palace. She held onto his sleeves so he had to remove his robe. The he had Ah Li went to his dad YH to borrow an outer robe. The question is, why didn't he ask the servant to get him a new robe from ZL in Tai Chen palace instead? Was this deliberately done so he could start a rumor? Just as the time he told FJ that he had her bracelet and hair pin when she left them at the hot spring?

This is also one of the reason the love hero fangirls came up with to prove that there is JH in his heart. Another is the restaurant scene when DH asked JH why did she touched that plant that she is allergic to. If DH did not care for JH, he wouldn't be upset that JH got her hand hurt from making soup. Just imagine that if FJ didn't come in between, from the time that he cared for JH, seeing her in Fanyin Valley for a period of time, and how JH also accompanied him and shared his interest in pottery making, tea, poetry and music, love could have blossomed. So, what is so bad about her? She asked for the Pimpo fruit? Her man is being snatched under he nose!! She did what she had to. She fought for her love. She blackmailed DH with her father's claw? Her man is being stolen! She had the only one thing that could keep him, why is it wrong for her to use it? And on and on....

Based on ELoD, we can see the following:
Lack of CP BTS, extras, tidbits etc. During TMOPB, their BTS exceeded over one hour of footage materials and they were just supporting characters! In ELoD, their CP scenes were short and edited choppily. They did not focus on what the CP were doing but instead created a lot of distractions via playback and sound effects.
Lack of CP interview during production. It is very normal for the ML and FL to be interviewed together during filming and to talk about the filming process. In ELoD, CP interview is non existent. It is always a solo interview. Even the final farewell interview were filmed separately on two different occasion. That was the broadcasted version but we believe they did a prior interview together but they chose not to use it.
Some here have mentioned that their CP BTS were removed from YT. I have not been able to verify this. One of the reason could be unauthorized use of copyrighted materials as Tencent is hunting down all repost of their copyrighted videos. They are very strict!
Vengo advised by the staffs not to sign CP pictures. I am not sure if theren are any precedent to actors not signing CP pictures but if there exist a rule like this, then it's really weird. However, the picture is of him IN character so I don't see why he can't sign it. It's not a regular CP picture in modern setting that could make people misunderstand.
On the positive side, we were given Four Worlds Four Lives. CP fans enjoyed this a lot and it goes to show that they have a remarkable working relationship. Their reenactments and reactions video fueled the CP fire and goes to prove that Guangre SZD?!

Yeah, the welcome to DH and LS in the Saha fruit competition was very, very nothing extraordinary in the series. Maybe CGI for that scene to be as the book is difficult or too costly.
I agree that if it's the same production team and director, ELOD might have even been more smashing. Someone got stubborn though...
Worst, they inserted the you know who scene which got princess carried by DH. Why must DH carry her??? One of the many discussion on Weibo on this scene....

Another grand scene would be during the competition for the Saha fruit in Fanyin Valley. All the Biyiniao in their original form spreading out their wings and circling the grandstand paying respects to DH. What a hoot!!
I think it the TMOPB production team had the rights to PB and they produced it, ELoD could have been grander!! TMOPB also had a woman director so she could have change the way the love scenes were filmed too. Hehehehe...

The dance scene was the highlight of the novel and the best moment of DH and FJ coz it takes place in DHs real home, it would be a aesthetic treat visual wise (it could have beat the cave scene in ranking)
I was actually looking forward to the Binchang ceremony and DHs grand entrance as Qing Qiu's son in law. When reading PB, I had this visual in my head which was completely different from how they filmed the scene. To say I wasn't disappointed would be lying but they did what they could given the complexities of that scene.

I figured so too and luckily our ELoD did well inspite of that. I had fun on Weibo during the broadcast period though, a lot of interactions with the official page and the cast. Looking at it positively, it's a silver lining. Had it not been because of the lockdown, fans wouldn't be able to participate and engage online and that would have taken a lot of fun out of it.

Reading that article made me sigh in relief that we got 56 episodes instead of 40 or 30.
Maybe one of the many reasons..we wont know for sure and they won't ever come up with the answer. ELoD is just a weird production somehow. I think the story and casts carried bulk of the success because ELoD wasn't promoted at all which is really mind boggling. It could be due to the pandemic why promos were halted but again, like your initial question, we won't know and I don't think we will ever find out.

Haha, I think we have all calmed down a bit more now and accepted the fact that the final few episodes were horribly edited and left us wondering if the whole production team just eeny, meeny, miny, moed their way into choosing what to cut and what to retain.

Unfortunately, ELoD were restricted by the newly kicked in limitations on Chinese Drama episode length broadcast and had to be cut down from the initial 60 episodes to comply.

Sandalwood reminds me of my visits to my Grandma's house as she would be burning sandalwood incense. She also has prayer beads and bracelets made from them.
Do you know that Sandalwood's scent can sooth the heart, calm the mind and eliminate distractions? So, sniffing DH is actually meditative.

This, this 100%!! He was plain nosy in TMOPB! He was almost everywhere when it comes to all the political alliances, inner court affairs, husband and wife disagreements and even funeral procession.

I read up on Wen Chang. It is implied that Lord Wen Chang is Dong Hua. If you google this, it will show you who's under him and you will immediately make the same assumption.
Yeah, I remember reading up on him when TMOPB ended way back coz I was like huh? Who is this guy? TMOPB was just plain mean that's all. Can't even have FJ have a happy ending with the real DH and had to use an alter ego or whatever .. cuts like a knife...心如刀割呀!!!

I just finished this little gem of a drama and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It is so refreshing to watch and I laughed so hard at all the comedic gold. I watched it RAW and I gotta say, the dialogues are A+++++ The timing is perfect and I gotta applaud the actors for a job so well done. The whole cast works well together and everyone played their part perfectly. The supporting actors pulled their weight for sure as it wouldn't have been so enjoyable had it not for their sassyness!
ML is a breath of fresh air! I wasn't paying attention much to this actor as I am unfamiliar with him but I grew to like him more and more. His smile can light up the entire dark universe! I love the way he unabashedly look at QQ. He manage to even make us the viewers blushed! Haha...ZLS is very talented and she is just so genuine in her acting. Love her!
