  1. i'm hoping they do a cheeky move in making the poll results hidden on the last day so then people wouldn't know who has won until the ceremony. Then people won't fuss over whether the popularity award gets handed down to the runner up, if they were to also win the best actor/actress/daesang award.

*It's interesting how they only include the nominees and not other popular actors/actresses who might not have been nominated. just an observation :)

  2. @miriseri @celest1al hooray I love visiting this forum, even though this show ended 2 months ago, I have been rewatching myself as well! I especially love hearing about people’s thoughts on little scenes and discussing with them as well.

    2) I was thinking the writer also wanted us to suspect but just drove us to a different direction to surprise us. I also thought he was evil too from those little suspicious scenes but I guess not later on in the drama?

another scene that was never revealed was at the end of episode 9 when the Rat meets a mysterious man who directs him to meet the director along with ri’s unit to be briefed on their mission to South Korea... that never got answered I think?

nonetheless, major plot points were wrapped and it created a beautiful piece of work.

  3. In my own dreamlike world,

I would love Son Ye Jin to win daesang. I felt like she acted so powerfully and expressed with her eyes so well through different genres (comedy, melodrama, romance...) killed it in her dialogue. Also she played the character believably as she transitioned back to her normal life in SK. (From goofy, resourceful woman in NK seeking to survive through her wits, to a woman who matures and is heart broken but is healing, preparing herself to let go or to remember, but or to go through the cycle again)
Key scenes: the farewell in ep 16. I loved ep 8’s scene where she tries to push RH away in the snow, soliloquy at the hospital bed of Ri

    Spoiler

if Hyun Bin wins or is nominated for an award, he will be noticed by his new role he played authentically. Needing to learn the NK language and accent, becoming someone who is *not an arrogant CEO/rich man* XD (HB fans would know this joke), requiring to change his physique, his piano skills he had to brush up and his action sequences and stunts! (I was very amazed by them - who would’ve thought joo won from secret garden could fight like that right?). Also him successfully portraying 2 personalities in one - the innocence of a child and nobility of a captain. Oh and his many great crying scenes and withholding those tears in his eyes. And the redness that comes from it. (Same with SYJ)

Although I absolutely loved them two together, I enjoyed the character development from Seri more than Ri.

I wished Ri was a bit more level headed in SK as he was before he fell in love, which was one of his special traits. I couldn’t really see his character development as clearly as Seri’s. But I loved how he redeemed himself in the finale through his hope to meet her in Switzerland and the text messages. I guess this points back to the writing.

for notable new actors/supporting characters that I would like to win awards especially for:

    - Manbok. strong character arc.

yes I love chi soo, our parasite uncle and mum, and the rest of the comrades and ahjummas...and the second lead characters improved as the show went on...

but who really wowed me when I saw him on screen was Manbok.

especially when he finally confessed to Ri and broke down. Then I just fell in love with how he fit in to SK from ep 11 onwards.

side note: I’m hoping CLOY won’t be affected by their controversial plot that award ceremonies would overlook the series’ achievements in order to stay safe.

  4. @Helena thanks for sharing! I honestly love Yang Kyung-won /chi soo’s story because he changed his careers, and at an older age as well, and followed his passions even though it’s a career that is probably very difficult and not an easy money-making job (Unless you’re already famous) compared to architecture. He has great talent, made Chi Soo a memorable character and I’m so proud of him.

(I also studied architecture in my first year and transferred to education afterwards... now I’m my final year but I did do drama as my high school elective and loved it... so this story is super inspiring)

  5. Hello comrades,

although this forum is dying, my heart is still with CLOY and still visit this site now and then and am waiting for any new posts or deleted/special scenes.

I was wondering if someone could share the parasite reference in ep 16? I couldn’t catch it but someone mentioned it!

I also wish someone could make a post on all the references of other dramas in CLOY:wub:

for now the significant ones I remember are...

    - Memories of Alhambra - lightning strike in the hospital (ep. 6) and computer game (ep 12)
    - something in the rain - umbrella scene (ep 15) and dancing scene (ep 16)

  6. @Helena I can’t believe they had to clarify the picture that looked like Seri was not pregnant. Why can’t it be true???? :bawling: (Or just not clarify at all? Ignorance is bliss... right?)

The writer really played with our emotions. With the foreshadowing of “marrying, two kids that are twins and are girls...” to opening the door and waiting for the “baby to come out”, to captain Ri helping Seri up by informing her to “take deep breaths while holding his hand” in the hospital...

    help me.

  7. I felt like this episode was necessary because the stakes were going to be high. It wouldn’t have been realistic if there was no involvement with the NIS. They surprisingly did add refreshingly comedic elements in a serious situation such as through the NIS agents, the CCTV cams and the F4 interrogations.

Yay my prediction that CCG would die was correct! I guess now it’s to defeat the bigger enemy - the 2nd brother and the wife, and...the couple’s emotional border between each other, and that physical border between SK and NK too.

What impressed me was how they fast tracked SJ and Dan’s relationship and also I love Dan’s mother and uncle supporting the relationship too. It may have been rushed but to me it was a good amount of screen time that was necessary to catch up with the OTP. Their acting and dialogue also sold me as well. They shined in this episode. I loved how SJ made the choice to stay and ripped off the plane ticket with his mouth haha! If SJ and Dan wasn’t on as much this episode, then they would have been dragged into ep 16 which means a truly rushed and a meaningless storyline for them. I also like how they give out a different flavour of love as well.

I felt like the lies JH told in the interrogation scene was frustrating though. It’s not like he could get away with lies by a government agency. I kind of knew it was coming because how this is paralleling what Seri did to him back in NK. It was predictable.

But I’m glad there is still the glimpse of hope where Seri made the choice to still fall in love even if she knew their fate. And the epilogue! I loved what they wore, how they looked at each other in love, the slow mo and the colours of the scene.

The last scene was important because throughout this drama, they made their decisions to love based on not really making the decision. “having no choice but to love”. Here, the writer finally shares their thoughts of their choices they want to make, to love. Sure, they are choosing opposite things (i.e. JH wishes to have not have met her, Seri wishes to go through it all again) but I’m glad they are now making the decision for themselves that’s not based on the circumstance.

Do we have any hints as to whether there’s gonna be a happy ending??

    My take:

    Hints for a bittersweet ending:

    - the Romeo and Juliet / cowherd and maiden stories that Seri used to describe their relationship to the NK ahjummas.

    - this can mean that they successfully/unsuccessfully eloped or can only reunite temporarily (in Switzerland, when snow falls? - just like how in cowherd and maiden reunites once a year under the full moon.)

    Hints for a happy ending:

    Spoiler

The snowman family image I saw somewhere?, the broccoli family merchandise (big spoiler when someone posted it. But why broccoli out of all other vegetables I do not understand lol), the Stairway to Heaven quote “people in love are meant to meet, no matter how far you travel, you’ll always come back to each other.” They also have some decent amount of help from powerful people e.g. JH’s dad and Seri’s parents.

    Hints for a sad ending:

If this happened in real life they would’ve been dead by now. :phew: So I don’t believe it will have a sad ending!

@Loveumore or he can simply wrap his arm around her shoulder and they both look out onto the river below as the drone zoom out....just some physical interaction instead of two people staring at each other then....cut <_<

Amen! I was thinking he should have not paused right after he handed the recorder back to her but gone for a hug as he affirmed that “she was his type.”  He put his hand back in his pocket as he said that AND THEN reached out for her hand. Just slight little adjustments could’ve made the scene even more warm. :( i just hope this would be the last of the stare offs lol... will still look forward to the next episode :)

  10. Spoiler

I really love the shoe but episode 13 overall frustrated me! I’m sorry I am going to rant my disappointments:

    1. Can the OTP do more than just stare at each other’s eyes at a 1 metre apart distance? Especially during the times when they realise they are fated, over and over again? Argh!! (It might also be the director-nim’s problem to use an awkward long shot for each “fated” moment which makes it look repetitive) but I wished when he told her she was his type, he at least grabbed her hand and embraced her or something. so unnatural :(

    2. I felt like the slow-mo scenes were overdone and lowered the tension! It slowed down the pace and made it look silly for eg seri to make a quicker decision. I felt like they did this sort of action thriller scene better in ep 11 in the car park.

    3. The editor seriously used some still cuts and put them together like a slideshow to show Seri’s flashback. C’mon, it’s such a lazy day way! :( it would’ve been worked better if they edited that more creatively? Eg Use clips instead of still pics!

nonetheless I still loved it when manbok didn’t follow his past ways and told ri the truth, and kicked butt too! And shot the baddie. (But what’s with the fade out to black? Hopefully he’s dead?)

and thankfully there were still some standout performances and the Most incredible scene: when drama duckling finally meets Ms Choi Ji Woo!!! I realised TVN used nice and different BG song to the Netflix’s version. But oh well. What a drama gem! How special for the show to have made this happen! This will go down in drama history...

I really liked the high angle used when ri caught seri when he opened the car. (Wished she just used her FWD to drive the baddie over) That was a really awesome shot and evoked the shocking emotions.

Fellow comrades, do help out with a nagging question that's been sitting on my head...

At what point in the story line do you think JH falls for Se Ri?

I think from episode 1’s epilogue he already found her amusing hence the slight smile on his face. This was confirmed in episode 9 when he explained to his dad that he didn’t want to send Seri to the authorities in case she might get hurt or disappear. He knew she was innocent and he wanted to protect her since then.

Though I think drama duckling helped incept the idea in his mind even further that they would fall in love after he lied about her being his fiancée.

Episode 4’s clam soju scene confirmed that he liked her as he sneaked a few glances at Seri + the bike ride back home. He really enjoyed the idea of being engaged to each other. Keen to hear what other more perceptive drama experts say about this. :)
