No, summer Olympics starts at July 24. Go to https://www.olympic.org/tokyo-2020 and you will see the information there.
If the drama starts at 5/25, then it makes sense to finish before summer Olympics start.

@rahma92 I remember when Jang Ki Yong was still attached to the project, the director/scriptwriter said to be aired in May. So between May and Jun seems about right.
The problem is Summer Olympics is gonna be pretty busy, so choosing to air in summer is not exactly the good choice. But airing in end May or beg. Jun definitely makes sense, b/c the episode list is 16 episodes, so it should end before Olympics start.

@Sakurafairy So Park Bo Gum hasn't filmed Wonderland, interesting. From the way all the news release, I thought they start to film the movie.

@Jillia So Dam is invited to Oscars because her film gets nomination for Best Picture. Any Best Picture nomination always have the entire cast. Kinda like when Moonlight wins Oscars, the entire cast goes on the stage to get Oscars.
So Dam is supposedly "confirmed" to go to Oscars on Feb 9 by a close source on Twitter, so it makes no sense to film YR that early. I mean, at least I hope not since I didn't see any news about YR lately. Honestly, I want her to go to Oscars because it's not like every year you can walk down the red carpet at Oscars and your movie gets nominated.
@Sakurafairy didn't I heard that Park Bo Gum is joining the film called Wonder Land? I thought he's filming the movie this month and Feb.

Does anyone knows when Youth Record starts to film?
Sodam has Oscars in Feb and her film, Parasite, is nominated for Best Picture and etc. I'm just hoping that the filming schedule won't cause schedule conflict.

No, but at the sodamninlove website, it has general synopsis about the characters PSD, BWS, and PBG play. And it's kinda obvious that it's setting up for triangle love, since this writer loves triangle love. The only time I haven't seen Ha Myung Hee writing non-triangle love is maybe High Society.

So Dam's film, Parasite, is now nominated in Oscar for 6 categories. Let's see how it goes. I think Sodammie is gonna go to Oscars in Feb, or maybe not, depending on her schedule for filming Youth Record.

@Sakurafairy I mean, yeah, that's nothing I can do. I'm first and foremost So Dam stan, so my concern goes out for her. However, there's nothing I can do since I'm not her agency or manager. All I can do is hoping this drama will be a good turnaround for everyone.
So far, it seems like this drama just set up a triangle love between PBG, PSD, and BWS. So I hope this is more in the fare of Doctors than Temperature of Love.

I like doctors but thinking TOL as a bad drama. Im not watching tol until the end, I just watched an early episode of this drama. Doctors has strong story telling from the start. My opinion, Between all PSH's role, yoohyejung (PSH character in doctors) is her best role. Still I wont say doctors is perfect, but its still good for me.
Hi rahma 92. LOL, Sodammie acts in action film that is going to release this year, so I am definitely looking forward to that film. PSD is perfect for action/adventure type of genre.
As for your comment about Temperature of Love,
SpoilerI agree completely. I remember that the writing for female character turn really sour, and it feels very OOC. I just don't think the writer is good enough to write 3 dimensional character. Which is why I'm so concerned about this drama.
I mean, I'm hoping for the best. Crossing my fingers.
But part of me kinda wish that instead of modeling/youth genre, it will be nicer to see PSD as criminal profiler (like a detective) and PBG as serial killer, and they have cat and mouse type of plot. That would be more awesome. Too bad, I'm not in Korea writing Korean drama.

@gumtaek I just hope this drama won't flop. That's my biggest concern. I would hate to see another stain on Sodammie's resume.
Considering drama industry vs film industry, the script is handled much differently. Sodammie is really good at picking films, but she has no luck in getting good drama offers. So I just hope this time, it turns out differently.
As for your mentioning of Encounter, I have a different opinion on that drama.
SpoilerImo, I think that drama is overly cheesy/soap opera-ish, and the plot is forgettable at best. The rating wasn't high either. It was good, but not like a big hit.
I don't know much about PBG personally, other than he's hallyu celebrity. But I do look forward to the chemistry.
So crossing my finger, let's hope for the best.

You are not only one who has concern about scriptwriter. Sodammie is now getting Hollywood buzz for her role in Parasite, she is getting pictorial and interviews from Vogue to W Magazine, and most importantly THR namedrops her as breakout talents. But now she is picking this project?
I really, really hope this drama won't be written badly as Temperature of Love. Now that I read about Blossom Ent is having disputes about Park Bo Gum's character, I am honestly not surprised because I thought your actor is taking up the movie offer instead of this drama.
I honestly thought PBG was going to turn this project down. And if this project has no actors settled, Sodammie would've turned this project down too. She hadn't turned it down initially right after Jang Ki Yong because out of proper respect and the fact that this drama made an offer to her first.

Good news is that So Dam actually met the actors, i.e PBG and BWS before finalize the drama.
So now So Dam is actually prepared to film the drama once all of the cast is complete. We know that PBG and BWS are the main guys, but it feels like Ha Myung Hee is setting up for triangle love, which I hope not.
Ha Myung Hee tends to write female character very interesting in the beginning, but then it slows down and all characterization breaks down and becomes very OOC.
So Dam is playing as idol-chasing fangirl who works makeup artist. It seems interesting at the surface about playing a role of idol-chasing fangirl.
The only concern is whether other actors can hold up the story well. 'Cause when the script crashes, we need the actors to be able to convey the emotions well enough to be sympathetic to them.
So Dam, I have no doubts that she will be great in emoting, but the others....that's a doubt.

Since this thread is pretty dead, I can openly say this: I don't think Park Bo Gum will accept the offer for Youth Record or Youth Report, whichever it is.
Jang Ki Yong only took 2 days to release the statement about confirming the drama, while Park Bo Gum takes more than 2 weeks and more in order to wait for confirmation. At this point, I think Ha Myung Hee is having difficulty to get big name actors to accept her drama after the terrible and horrible Temperature of Love.
And PSD is simply waiting to see if there is good actors on board before accepting this drama. If there is no actor to accept this drama, I think she will turn down this drama. To be honest, I think she is overqualified for this drama.
I mean, she goes from world acclaimed Parasite (Palme d'Or/Golden Globe/Oscar nominated) to this fiasco?!
I will be happy to be wrong if this drama Youth Record whatever it is comes through, and if it is good drama with good rating, I will be honestly happy for it. But at this point, I seriously doubt it.

I was hoping that So Dam would attend Golden Globe, but like other news said, she is going to host Golden Disc awards, so I guess she and Choi Woo Shik etc ain't going.
Maybe she will attend SAG or Oscars for Parasite.

I knew about that, but the report of JKY confirmed to play released about 1 wk after news about JKY being offered to the part. So the timing is quite sudden.
Honestly, tvN knows how to create media buzz around a drama that will air in May.
Either way, let's see how it goes. Didn't PBG turn down Ha Myung Hee's drama before? I think it's Temperature of Love, isn't it?

I don't think you understand what I am saying. I'm saying that PSD aka Park So Dam, not Park Bo Gum, was reported to confirm the drama in past month reports along with Jang Ki Yong.
But now there is a recent report that says Jang Ki Yong dropped out of the drama and Park So Dam (PSD) is still in discussion, not confirming the drama. And Park Bo Gum was offered right after the report Jang Ki Yong dropped out of drama.
It's very suspicious in general that Jang Ki Yong suddenly dropped out and So Dam suddenly not confirmed the drama. And somehow, right after Jang Ki Yong dropped out, there is report that the drama offered to Park Bo Gum.
Either way, this drama gets attention because of Park So Dam (for worldwide acclaimed Parasite fame) and the fact that hallyu star like Park Bo Gum is linked gives media power to the drama.

I think that's the problem. Two days ago, there is a report saying that PSD is still reviewing the drama, meaning she actually didn't confirm the drama. So all of these news reports are very contradicting. In that blog, there is another link to the report that backs up this very statement.
Honestly, it's very suspicious. I have a hunch that the scriptwriter don't have any of the actors/actresses to confirm. So it's either the script is bad, or they are using PSD/PBG to mediaplay this drama.

Also would like to mention that Special Cargo, the action film that So Dam is starring, is releasing early next year. Hopefully, I can see So Dam's badass action scenes. She fits so well in action/thriller films.
Before her official debut in major film, she filmed a couple of action oriented films.

Originally, Jang Ki Yong confirmed the drama with So Dam, but for reasons unknown, he dropped out of the drama. I hope it's not a sign that the script is bad, though I wouldn't put it past Ha Myung Hee since her dramas like Temperature of Love, High Society or Doctors are not highly rated nor well written.
So Dam's character is the idol-chasing maknae make up artist, and the male protagonist is successful model but unsuccessful actor. It would've fit Jang Ki Yong since he's model transitioning to actor, but since he dropped out, the offer is made to Park Bo Gum.

There is alot of conflicting reports around Park So Dam's supposedly new drama. I don't think anyone knows what is the actual deal.
It used to be Jang Ki Yong, but now it's Park Bo Gum. Anyway, I don't think Park Bo Gum will accept the offer now that even Jang Ki Yong turned it down. Let's see how it goes.
I think So Dam is still reviewing the drama, but I don't trust Ha Myung Hee.

So Dam is the supporting actress in Parasite, and Parasite has been winning awards left and right, maybe even going to be at Oscars as well.

After seeing these news, Ha Myung Hee is setting up character foil in BWS's character vs PBG's character. One born with silver spoon, the other comes from dirt poor. Contrast in triangle love set up.
What about PSD's character family then?
