I keep thinking about this drama. I want to know more about MY and Juri relationship, Juri was really upset because MY talked about her mother (Juri's mother). I tried to read Juri character description with naver translator and this caught my attention: "In the fairy tale, a good protagonist defeated a witch and took over a prince, but the reality is not as green as a fairy tale. It's alcohol that makes her so timid turn from Jekyll to Hyde! Alcohol goes in and cuts off the leash of reason, and another hidden ego pops out." and I remember she didn't drink the beer Jaesu gave her.

    P.d.: sorry my english

Jekyll and Hyde huh...this should be fun because MY is not like normal female leads she will DRAG her literally lol. Although I'd prefer if they didn't fight over a man but this is dramaland when does that not happen

    Ahah, @schummy_lover, right?

To be honest, I did not even realise I've missed him so much. The moment I saw that cameo in HDL, I was like: GIVE ME IONTBO IMMEDIATELYYYYY! And, of course, it did not disappoint.

By the way, yesterday I rewatched that interview with SYJ & KSH, where she flatters him constantly & he is flustered. I mean, even irl they are almost the same - she is daring with the comments, he is a bit taken a back (or acts so, tbh :D ). And also, can't count the times she called him "beautiful, pretty, attractive," etc - is this SYJ or is this KMY? :P

Can you drop the link sis? I'm tryna see something...

  3. I just watched this drama for the first time and omg it was so good. There's too much to say so I'll just say this. There seems to be two types of people who've seen MM. The romantic and non-romantic.

I'm firmly in the romantic camp. Their chemistry was so amazing. Every moment they were on screen together - even standing on opposite sides of the street was oozing with chemistry. However the relationship was so complex it can be taken in different ways.

Most of the time in dramas, when the main couple gets together I lose interest because the tension is gone. In MM, they never "get together" in that sense so the tension was there until the very end. This drama was everything I never knew I needed.

I feel Mr. Jang and OSA has developed a fatherly child relation in a way that they respect each other. He provided her backup and she proved herself to him and stayed loyal which also showed as time passes, our feelings change for a person if we spend time with them and develop understanding. In the end, they cared for each other in a way, not directly but with their acts. She cried to him when she found out he has few months left and he hated that tears from her side because he didn't want her to feel bad.  Such complex relations!

That was one of my favorite parts of the episode. It felt very real.

Yiseo is one of the best female characters i have ever seen in k dramas. Most of the time female leads are flowerpots to glorify male leads , or playing ott or playing sacrificial leads. Finally we got a female lead with different vibe. I am loving it and i hope , Dami sweeps all awards!

I hope female leads like YS become a trend in kdramas. She has a strong personality and it's consistent. Too often female leads are these awkward, goody two shoes, lifeless blank slate characters so the audience can "self insert" i guess in a way? I really love YS as a character and yes KDM deserves!

  5. GS confirming (again) that his only motive for joining Jangga was because of YS is......yeah...no.

That's just poor writing. I would've felt more sympathetic if his reason was to gain his father's love/approval or something. That would've made sense. I'm ready for this to wrap up lol. It's not bad but compared to earlier episodes it feels like the writer is having trouble tying everything together.

Anyone who's read the webtoon, how is this supposed to end? I'm curious.

  6. I agree re: the writing.

The first 10 episodes were damn near perfect. Now, it's almost like a new writer took over. Good news is, there aren't many episodes left. If it finishes strong, I can overlook these few lackluster episodes. I used to be more into the revenge plot than the romance but now the revenge seems kinda stale and I'm just ready for SRY and YS to make out lol

I never said he shouldn’t revenge, but right now he is completely consumed by that revenge. You do not find happiness in revenge. It’s a cliche because it is true. If you do find “happiness”, it will be a twisted kind of happiness. There’s a reason that thought has been repeated ad nauseum all over the world.

I agree, and I think SRY will realize this at the end. It was already foreshadowed with his drink still tasting bitter even after the evil son went to prison. I think he will defeat Dae Hee but that won't be enough he will have to forgive and let it go to find peace.

  8. I enjoyed this ep way more than the last one. I feel like the pacing is back on track.

YS's spontaneous "ILY" on the phone to SRY was so cute idk why that moment was so unexpected. I feel like I'm starting to feel the romantic feelings from SRY towards YS more in this ep. I feel like Soo Ah does unnecessary s*** that impacts SRY/Danbam negatively. Like when she told Chairman about SRY's plans to franchise DB for no reason and her actually going to give him that "gift." Idk...i feel like she goes out of her way sometimes. A little loyalty please?

GS is a mess of a character at this point. I don't understand his motives. Him liking YS isn't enough. In a show with such great writing, this is the only thing bothering me rn. I hope they do something with him.

Hyunyi made me cry when she broke down like omg give her all the awards. I like that SRY told her it's okay to run away and not be strong. But she's a badass I was so proud. YS calling her and reading the poem was sweet. She's starting to become more empathetic? Even though she was kinda awkward/dry. You can tell she's new to being a friend and reaching out to people but she's trying. Growth!

There are quite a few, but normally the second female lead tends to be a terrible human being for most of the drama. But my favorite second female lead ever is Yoon So-Hee in The Emperor: Owner of the Mask.

I don't count female second leads because imo it's never a real triangle. As in, the ML never actually likes the FSL back, if not totally despising her. That's a whole other discussion because I have so many problems with the evil FSL trope.  But the FL is usually fond of the second male lead.

IC is interesting bc I feel like the relationship dynamics are "flipped" if you will.

  10. Kim Da Mi is such a pleasure to watch, she's so good. I just want to squeeze her even when she's being bad. When she was silently crying at the table

This episode was a filler I guess, but I'm glad that Kim Tony got the backstory and screentime he deserved. I was under the impression that he was adopted? But no he's actually blood Korean? Kinda wish they had chosen an actual biracial actor if that's the case, but Chris Lyon is great and he fits right in. Awesome to see an actual black character in a Kdrama, as there is an increasing number of black people in SK.

I can't figure PSRY out when it comes to his love life. :grimace: Is he actually that damn clueless or was he choosing to ignore YS's obvious feelings for him? Does he actually like SA or is that relationship all he's ever known, and he can't open his mind to new possibilities? He needs to be without YS for a while, just to see what he's missing. Trust me, when you're a bad b***h they always come crawling back. :glasses:

Also, Geun Soo needs to go sit down somewhere. He's doing too much. Like, I get it but calm down dude.

  11. This is one of my favorite dramas EVER and there's still 6 more episodes. Park Seo Joon is so charming and he's so talented. I love how every character is layered, even the villains are fun to watch.

I love how even though Yi Seo has fallen for Saeroyi, she hasn't become nice suddenly. She's still largely apathetic but I think Saeroyi is GOOD enough for the both of them. They're like polar opposites in the way they treat people but maybe Yi Seo can learn to be more socially competent the more time she spends with him. That's a start. She's a unique female lead.

Soo Ah is another interesting character. I understand her looking out for herself first and foremost, especially being an orphan. I don't know if EYE could work so closely with the men responsible for my father figure's death, but she's likeable nonetheless.

    I'm eagerly awaiting Friday!

  12. Seo Dan's ending is gonna bother me for a while. It was just so unnecessarily cruel...even down to that fortune teller saying she's basically going to die alone. Oh but she'll be successful. I know they're pushing the strong, independent message and yes, Seo Dan was very strong, but what happened was a tragedy.

It's like she wasted 10 years and she's grappling with that, and was finally given a glimmer of hope and true happiness only for it to be violently be snatched away for no good reason at all. That whole storyline left a bad taste in my mouth.
