I will wait for the last episodes too before passing judgement. So far the writing hasn't disappointed.
I'm really curious about the title of the new book too... I have no idea and I can't wait for them to publish it, the style will be completely different from her previous works since it's ST that is drawing and she is in a better place too.
Jae Su haha... Well he can try to woo Seung Jae hehe, he is such a good and loyal friend and I hope he gets to establish his life outside of the brothers too.

But that's not the case.
Unless better explained, Head Nurse being MY's mom is not only head scratching when you think of what they've shown us of her "death" but it is also unnecesary and simply done for max effect. Her being dead and truly responsible for the death of KT&ST's mom woul pose as much of an issue for MY/KT/ST moving forward and actually even more so than having her alive and giving the three amigos the chance to "kill" her. As a ghost from the past (and thus a lot harder to "kill") she was much more interesting.
To be fair, we haven't been shown again and again that the mom was dead. They repeatedly mentioned she disappeared and was presumed dead. The memories from the dad are just that, memories, which as we all know can be false and distorted. Plus the father was already sick then and his sickness had an effect on his cognitive abilities and memories. The memories are somewhat corroborated by MY but even she mentioned that the body simply vanished from the basement not that the father dumped the body in the river like the father recalled.
I think the reason why the "supposed mother" is back is as you said to provide an opportunity for MY to completely cut off her leash, to actively face off against "her mother" and be free. It is more than just dealing with the guilt she has for KT and ST. I think for her own growth and the way she identifies and navigates the world, it is a good plot device.
@40somethingahjumma Thank you for your posts. They are always well though off and written. Really a breath of fresh air. I really enjoy reading what you have to say as it brings me a new perspective. I wish I could like your posts a thousand times uwu

What an interesting theory! She also told the nurse that Othello killed his wife because of a misunderstanding. So maybe MY's dad thought the mom killed someone and killed her but she didn't? I don't think Mad Park is the killer but the story could be something along those lines.

I'm curious about something. MY said that her mom killed someone and that he killed her. regardless of whether she is actually alive, do you think MY's mom killed KT's mom?
I was just thinking that these three went through so much and to add that on top would be heartbreaking. If they do go that route, I hope they deal with it properly.

Just finished watching ep 9 and I am a sobbing mess.
So many things happened in this episode but the end, the end...Just like KT memories of his mother were distorted, ST memories are also distorted. As much as that scene was sad, I must say it was very much needed to start their healing. Suppressed resentment and dependency ...oof
The brothers need to have a heart to heart and bare it all out. they also need to be apart for a little bit.
I must say the way the writers handled A-reum and JT made me more hopeful about the way they will handle KT, ST, and MY individual healing and their relationships.
Juri and MY, I can totally relate. I loved the talk between JR and the CEO. I hope MY and JR can become friends again.
We've been saying that MY needs therapy before a serious relationship with KT and that is true but she will also need support during that time. Even with professional help, recovery is hard if you are alone with no one to be there for you. It will be nice for her to have a friend and the CEO also who we can count as a brother figure right?
Now I'm back to crying

Hello,
I don't remember the last time I posted. But I just had to comment about how much I love this drama. I have enjoyed reading analysis and theories so far. I am so curious as to what will happen next. The title of episode 9 is "The King with Donkey's ears?" which was referenced in MY's first class. At that time she had mentioned that to relieve stress you should talk behind people's back. The common lesson from the tale is about trust and broken trust. I am wondering what they will touch in the episode, Juri the "two face RickRoll'D"? or will we have issues with trust. I was also very curious about the scene in the preview with MY dangling Mang Tae, that did not look promising. What are your takes on it?
Again I am so excited to see how this will unfold. So far the writing hasn't disappointed!

Aaarhhh How I hate Jung's gut... dang it if he asked for Soo hands in marriage, that will be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. Did they promise to love each other? No the guy is friend-zoned even family-zoned, Did he ask her if she wanted to marry him? NO and don't tell me he was about to ask/tell her when he went to visit he is supposed to confirm with her before asking the king. And his anger towards So for me is just unjustified is he jealous or what? I knew he was Wook's trash but still. Can't he see? He is just stupid and prejudiced against his brother, lost in his own reveries.

@aypopa I know right it's not one or two it's not even because he needed more heirs the first child was a son that was well and alive so why go all the way to five haha... maybe he found solace with her after HS death even though he never completely gave her his heart

there is an eclipse in the year of WS death. So maybe he dies and is transported back to 21st century where he meets HS with their memories intact. That would be better, this time he will have to adapt but hey he's pretty smart and quick. That's better than her meeting with a guy who just looks like 4th and has no recollection of their love

This was Goryeo... Also, their last names will be different (princesses used to take on their mom's name and princes their dad's names) until 1988ish people with the same last name even if not related were not allowed to marry. Also, it's the royal family it might not have ben common for commoners. The royals need to keep their lineage and marry for power and for more power those at the top are usually in the royal families too and to prevent treason what better way than to be allied through marriage.

and random Q -- why is it okay in goryeo for these fellows to marry their half sister and neice? whereas, in modern kdramas, they have a meltdown if two brothers marry into the same family (like in five children where the two brothers were in love with 2 sister-in-laws) -- when did rules against marrying within the clan come to pass and how did it happen? any history buffs here?

Ah, I see how they are going to spin this off. WW will pretend to be on CP side and insinuate that WS and WY were on it together (that way it will follow history there were rumors of WY and WS plotting treason during CP reign but he ignored it). WW will then be close to CP and manipulate him, he will come to know then of CP weaknesses and use it to his advantage. I will not be surprised if he is the one to bring back WY to kill the new king.
And Jung darling will blame WS for WY death and join 8th prince not knowing anything (doesn't even know 8th wanted to kill of WY like an animal). Jung has grown up but still he doesn't know anything too naive to be really considered an "adult" like he himself said it. He still doesn't understand the intricacies of palace politics and life? And he expects us to believe he has matured. And gosh leave the girl alone she wants to leave the palace why does everyone want to bring her back (expect So). Wait for me bulls**t, don't they consider her opinions? Anyway at this point Jung is Wook trash so let's see how that goes.

Come on there are only 8 episodes left and this is a mess how are they gonna tie u everything the king is not dead yet, the crown prince is still there Wang Yo is still there. Girl is still pinning over sweet talker coward Wook. And heck even the Chae Ryung 9th prince line has not even started yet

I believe and this is just how I got it but I think that the last scenes weren't shown in order for the dramatic effect. When MY and SI left, KT was still at the house and hadn't tried to reach ST yet. That's why MY says that is all alone at the castle. So we have my running and meanwhile KT went down to JR's house to find ST then back again to the castle so quite some time would have passed by then giving mY enough to reach (whether she got a ride or ran all the way there)
