I wonder if will not be to impossible for HS to reconcile her love for WS with her morality and her friendship for other princes ... after seeing the singing scene - it will be so hard for her to see that he will kill not only his brother but also her friends ... I imagine it could be heartbreaking ... I have no idea how will she be able to live with this ... she is a modern girl and a very kind one .. WS will break her heart ....

As I understand it, the history describes him as a tough king but not unfair. Maybe he had good reasons to do that. Treason or attempt on the unity of his country. Besides I don't think she will live long enough to see these facts.

  2. THE BEAUTIFUL BEAST WE ALL WANT TO HUG

This year again, Lee Joon-gi drapes himself into black hanbok to mesmerize our eyes inMoon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, which is currently running on SBS channel. Lee plays a tortured soul, Prince Wang So, whose injured face hides behind a scary mask. He is beastly, wild, and everyone avoids him like the plague – but of course we know that behind the dark image lies a pure soul in need of love and attention. The actor is simply breathtaking in the role: frightening where he has to be, while other times we would simply want to hug him tight to ease his misery. Simply put, Goryeo royal clothing has not fit anyone else better!

Hey Fellow Moon-Lover--Lovers!! I should say experts because I am confused again!!\

Why is there snow in some scenes? and LUSH Green in others? Was this drama pre-produced?

For example the walking in snow scene/lady hae passing away and lady's funeral.

I'm not an expert for sure but my opinion it's like they skipped over certain periods of time (from winter on spring, something like this). For example Lady Hae died at the end of winter and Hae Soo enter in the palace next spring... etc... Maybe someone else will have a better explanation than me.  I understand that the original series had 50 episodes, but the producers have chosen that K-version to have only 20. They were forced to compress the action and skip the time.

I came to this thread because I live in both  physical and cultural  separation from Lee Joon Gi and his work.  I came for the warmth of friends who share my love. What I have found sometimes supports that but sometimes crushes it.

After watching the first episode of Moon Lovers  I was elated. Given all the effort and money spent on this project I just knew it would be great. Epic. HUGE. And what I saw didn't disappoint me. I expected to find enthusiasm and excitement in both threads. I expected to read praise and compliments with the occasional question as to whether another viewer reached a similar conclusion regarding a certain scene.   Instead I discovered  that what I had watched and enjoyed  was being dissected to bleached bones or critiqued to death. Good Grief!   Was such dissection and critiquing  common? Worse, interspersed with that were plenty of negative comments.  OMG...had I watched the same drama?  Some of the remarks were brutal and many dealt with perceived editing flaws, missing pieces of the story and lousy music. I  was floored.  When the ratings came out.... I was devastated and the shock soon became nausea. I could only imagine the pain for the actors and crew.

My mental reaction was...What the Hell?  Could I have become so blinded by my own bias that I was unable to see obvious flaws ? Maybe having watched American TV and film had lowered my standards or rotted my brain?  I slapped my subconscious. “Snap out of it and watch this again,” I told myself  and so I watched again and again. By then the reaction of the international viewer began  to show itself. The number of followers on Joon's Instagram started climbing. Views on Youku began to soar. Others had seen what I saw.  Yet despite the viewing habits of millions, Korean commentary remained just as subjective and the ratings continued to fall.  Moon Lovers...may be a disaster according to South Koreans....but the rest of the world was inexplicably enjoying it by the millions. We faceless rabble seem content to accept the vulgarities of over hype, foreign capital, Kpop idols and western editing as we click on our browser, tune in to Asia One or Youku and enjoy.

    I understand you so well!

For me Moon Lovers is an wonderful and perfect drama but like I said in the other thread is an atypical period drama. The producers have tried to bring something new in an extremely conservative country. Due to the international success of K-dramas it's normal for koreans to want to promote their young talent.

LJG is an exception for me. Maybe there are others but I haven't seen them. And one of the reasons is their rating. Any international newcomer in the world of k-drama is bound to see what is popular less what is really good.

Two Weeks was my first drama in which I saw LJG acting. He was the only actor who has sparked my admiration, after two years of viewing k-dramas. If it hadn't been appreciated by the international viewers I would have omitted it definitely. Because it's rating in Korea has been mediocre (around 11%). In the next years I resigned and I understand that my preferences do not coincide at all with the other viewers.
I apologize if my rant will be considered off topic.

PS.I deleted my critics addressed towards K-fans and I apologize to them

  5. Although I'm not a fan of Wang Wook-Hae So couple I like the fact that their relationship is not rushed to make room for the Wang So-Hae So relation. Hae So just discovered that she has feelings for Wang Wook, even if she still doesn't know exactly what kind of feelings they are. It would be awkward to see her start flirting with Wang So right now.

I love that she is aware of the situation in which she is knowing that no one can protect her except herself. Wang Wook is an warm shoulder where she can put her head. He's the only person who shows her affection in a world that she can't understand it.

In opposition, Wang So seems to be a cool person but he is the only one able to give her wise advice and trying to make her to understand her condition explaining to her what are the risks when you live in the palace and in my opinion the relationship between Wang So and Hae Soo is exposed more from his point of view than hers. As @jetsu noted very well, her gaze is always attracted in the presence of Wang So. So I dare to say Wang Wook is consolation but Wang So is attraction.

And... I'm amazed to see how spoiled and irresponsible are the sons of the Queen Yoo. (except Wang So of course)

Okay so I may be making multiple one line posts as I see the raw so bear with me chingudeul! I can't help but be vocal tonight.

So just how much power does Yeonhwa have........I'm like gritting my teeth coz she seems to be more in command than her own brother, So, all the younger ones even  Like why would those guards seem like they heed her more than the princes! I mean they didnt even make a proper getaway with HS before being caught. How come YH gets to question/reprimand Wook on his stunt.....frustrating.

This is a good question. It looks like Yeon Hwa has much more power than her brother. Maybe because she's is in the good graces of His Majesty's. It seems like in the past, Wang Wook has made a mistake and he pissed off the king. We don't now. As you have seen it seems the mistress of the house of Wang Wook is Yeon Hwa.
