  1. @Tanya whenever Korean celebrities use phrases like “respect” or “swag” or “it’s lit” or “let’s get it,” I just get the feeling they’re using it to show they’re hip or cool, and like the meaning of the word is useless. I think maybe Skull meant “even though they were doing a fanmeet, JK hyung was busy with more work, gotta respect the hustle” but honestly it’s probably just a nice catchphrase to him and doesn’t really mean anything.

  2. SJH signed with a new agency and is returning with a JTBC drama!! Premise is that she’s a single mother and four potential suitors appear in front of her. She’ll probably appear in a few JTBC variety shows to promote this like she did last time. KJK’s new variety show (The 5 brothers one) is on JTBC as well. Glad to see that they’re getting a lot of love on the cable networks.

  3. @Adora Dark @carambsk

Wanted to jump into discussing that Dragon Bros episode conversation because I wish I knew enough Korean to see what the subtitles might have missed. I found it really weird when Jang Hyuk said he never met SJH before because they were on the same team when he guested on Running Man back around episode 40-something and he went with KJK and LKS to SJH's movie premiere back in 2012-2013. I figured the subtitles were incorrect and maybe he actually said that he didn't see her at all that night. IIRC I also found it weird that he was the only one referring to SJH as "Jihyo-ssi" while everyone else refers to her in a more informal tone. It reminded me of when KJK's hoobaes are asking him about HJY and SJH in an episode of MUD and they use "ssi" when referring to HJY but "noona" when referring to SJH which implies they are close with SJH or at least have met her before and feel comfortable calling her "noona."

  4. A few have speculated that SJH leaving her agency might be a sign of an upcoming marriage and I was wondering how those things correlate to each other. Most actresses who have announced marriages in the past don't really seem to switch agencies prior to an announcement.

Also, I was under the assumption that her current agency (My Company) was sort of a one-artist agency since it had been started by her long time manager and had been created solely to help manage her. But after seeing the other artists they manage, they have a few promising actors and actresses under them who have done some popular and critically acclaimed work but having Song Ji Hyo leave is still a big loss for the company. Didn't her period of free agency last time last about about 1.5 years? When the news came out that she was leaving her agency, I was definitely shocked and it does raise some suspicions about why she would leave an agency that was formed around her in the beginning.

Remember back in the 2015 SBS Entertainment Awards, when HH and KJK had the usual dialogue about the latter getting married and KJK said that he intends to but someone has told him to wait.

Wasn't this also KJK's response when Han Hye Jin (ep. 317) asked him about marriage and he said "They told me to get married later," or am I remembering wrong?

  5. When everyone is in the car and they're hearing the mission for the first location, they make a slight reference to the SA firing incident I think. It's similar to a past episode (can't recall the number) where Haha jokes that the PD please not use a specific phrase to tell them to get out of the car because it was the phrase used in the articles back in Dec. 2016. and KJK jokes that he and SJH are sensitive to that phrase. In this episode the PD tells JSJ to get out of the car to tell the other members what the hidden mission is and he uses that phrase (ha cha: 하차) and YSJ jokes that it's so sad that JSJ is leaving Running Man and the everyone jumps in thanking JSJ for his work on the show and telling him goodbye.

  6. It's been a while since I've posted but my health is better now that I feel comfortable to start posting again. A lot of things have happened since I last posted so I've been catching up with everything.

In regards to HH and KJK's new show, I think it's being shown through Vlive and another Naver site but if it does well it might be picked up for broadcast on a station. I recall SJH's beauty show being broadcast on Vlive as well as JTBC though I could be mistaken. And Vlive is trying to create more content that isn't just idols/celebrities vlogging. But in general, I believe the pair will be allowed more creative freedom than doing a variety show for another network so I'm looking forward to their antics. I'm wondering if this is a show that will have a set number of episodes or if it will continually air every week in the manner of regular variety shows. All I've heard so far is the concept is the two of them attempting to accomplish a Big Idea.

And all the members have definitely been getting more work outside of RM and I think the announcement of RM ending/rebooting last year might have given them all the initiative to start looking for work elsewhere (considering SBS isn't treating them very well...) so if the show does end soon, they can devote their energy into their other projects.

I watched the latest episode and man, YJS's unluckiness is on another level. During the lunch segment, I thought it was sweet that HH came up saying that he specifically chose the dish for SJH's sake. He hoped they both could eat but she chose jajangmyeon. I think LKS and JSM both came up with jajangmyeon thinking that SJH picked jjampong, which is what she said she was craving in the car (and the dish she chose in the princess episode I think?). (I found it hilarious when JSM said she wanted to be a part of the SJH-line. I've only heard of MCs like YJS and KHD having a line.) The lunch segment gave us a surprise Spartace moment though, yay!!

I'm looking forward to the next episode considering how gullible JSJ is, there's bound to be a lot of comedic moments. Though I'm no longer able to enjoy the moments when the Instagram updates to show a preview image for the next episode. All those childish comments....what are they hoping to accomplish?

  7. With the way they mentioned how the special episodes were going to be, I sort of thought that it was going to be like how they did in the old days where the members got to design how an episode was going to play out (i.e. the Sherlock episode and LKS's revenge). Especially because it looked like JSJ and HH were really excited about a certain concept they've been thinking about for awhile. I think the phrasing they used in the episode was that they would pick an item and the episode would be written around what the member picked? Similar to how their challenges during the Make a Viral Video episode came about. Anyway, with the news about what KJK's episode is going to be about, I'm just going to do what I usually do with RM episodes, just go in with expectations super low. I mean the 1n2d episode was well received I believe so maybe RM can do the same? I'm just going to be over here, casually laughing at the fact that for SJH's special episode, they've brought back the belts that tie around everyone's waist.

  8. @athoughtcloud1 I remember reading that KG's agency released a statement about how he's going to stop his variety appearances to focus on his music and I wonder if it was because of that completely unnecessary episode that caused them to release such a statement. Likewise, I wonder if KJK posting the X-ray of his back and talking about his back problems again was a way of hinting to the crew about what kind of games to utilize in the future. I mean, he's probably told them privately the things he can and can't do and if they're going to ignore it, notifying the public is a way to put pressure on the PDs and writers if they're more likely to listen to the public than the cast members, which seems to be the case.

@bogummish The preview for the next episode makes me worry that KJK-JSJ and SJH-HH will barely be in the episode because so much of the focus is on the guests (and YJS and LKS). Like I know that RM is in the category of variety shows for promoting something but is it really necessary to cast aside the other members of the cast. Because I am really excited to see SJH-HH interactions again.

If RM is still catering to international fans (especially when they were going into the Chinese market) instead of Korean fans, which seems to be the case since not even the promise of Sechs Kies was enough to bring up the rating, why don't they feature KJK and SJH more? http:// i64 . tinypic . com / 2en5bgp . jpg (<- copy into the address bar and delete the spaces since I'm having a weird issue posting images right now)

I remember a few posts in one of the Spartace Baidu threads where the thumbnails for RM episodes were more Spartace instead of MC.

(Teeny tiny delusional thought but what if a KJK-SJH team up isn't possible for the upcoming Bromance episode cuz it's not a bromance. :DThey could have gone with KJK-HH and JSJ-SJH, which is what I expected, but I am glad they switched it up.)

Does anyone have any knowledge of how long SJH lived in Pohang and if she speaks in an accent sometimes? I don't understand Korean well enough to distinguish the dialects but their upcoming episodes in Daegu and Busan have got me thinking about how I wouldn't mind if SJH busted out some satoori.

  9. I was really looking forward to this episode and what the message would be to fans of RM after the departure of KG. Some sort of message like even though it seems like we’re missing something, we’ll be okay. But unfortunately, it seems I was too optimistic and this episode was just… I could tell that even though the cast misses KG being on the show, they were getting fed up with the concept and were feeling guilty of pestering KG that day. And it really sucks because I felt that last week was a very nice farewell episode. The shining spots in this episode were moments like YJS and JSJ reminiscing about the places they went to when they weren’t as popular, SJH abruptly stopping the karaoke session during YJS’s passionate singing, the photo (a brief moment of warmth from the cast), SJH & LKS & JSJ trying hard not to LOL at the return of Simple KG, KJK and the dog (the dog doesn’t seem to like SJH as much I think judging from how quickly it left SJH’s arms and KG’s comment, all of which happened off screen), and LKS’s facial expressions when HH and SJH are discussing/agreeing on what can be considered couple items.

In all honesty, I’m mainly waiting to see SA, KJK, and SJH moments appear on Instagram before I decide if it’s worth watching the whole episode now. Sometimes the IG accounts I follow will post funny moments from the episode that include the other members and that will also factor in my decision into watching the episode but I’m really disappointed that RM isn’t as entertaining any more. SBS (both for variety and drama) hasn’t been doing well in comparison to other stations so I hope they’ll figure out what works and what doesn’t soon. I know that channels will often go into slumps for a few years before coming back with Grade A programming and content and I really hope that RM survives this slump but it honestly seems unlikely.

And about the whole SBS IG comment thing, maybe it wouldn’t hurt to try at this point? What have we got to lose? Because the comments on there are usually filled with “please invite XX on the show” or “something about MC.” Whenever there are KwangMong posts, I usually don’t see too many negative comments and it’s usually just Spartace posts that draw ire, regardless of whether there are other people in the picture or not.

For the filming this week, we’ve got them filming in Daegu with DO and Jo Jung Suk and then with TWICE in Busan. It’s been a while since they’ve filmed in locations that far away from Seoul so maybe that can do something to help? I recall people not really being happy with the inclusion of TWICE last time so I don’t really know what to expect.

At least SJH’s drama is doing well. It’s being hurt on Saturday ratings because of the protests but I’ve heard it’s doing well with critics I think. And KJK and HH’s concert is this Saturday so I’m looking forward to any fan reports on that.

  10. @dragonlovers @lostinthisdream when I was at the KCON performance when they were mentioning the Vegas concert, I thought I heard Mikey mention that HH and KG were going to be there but after rewatching the video on Youtube, it turns out he only mentioned HH being there. I didn't have the best seats at the concert (I had the worst possible seats) and I was a bit out of it that weekend so I might have imagined that Mikey mentioned KG. And the posters for the concert that I keep seeing keep mentioning "guest(s)" as in there will be more than one so that it might not just be LKS as everyone says. But I do agree that it would be strange not to list KG as a musician and as a RM guest instead. From what I remember from KCON at the RM fan zone, there was a sign where you could put a sticker under your favorite member's picture and the ones that got the most stickers were SJH, KJK, and LKS when I went there which is why I also assumed that LKS was going to be the guest at the concert. Though I do wonder if "RM guests" could also refer to someone who's guested on RM before as well, that it's not just limited to the cast members. The event page on the Cosmopolitan website simply lists HH and KJK ft. Turbo and Skull and there's no mention of any other guests. In any case, I guess we'll all have to wait until next month to find out.

@athoughtcloud1  Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the episode! I did feel that SJH was a bit subdued in this episode and that it's probably attributed to her drama shoot but it could also be because SJH and KJK haven't been in groups away from the other members in a while. It also could be she wanted the female guests to shine because SJH and KJK both encourage the female guests to do the missions and the female guests were definitely active in this episode. I definitely have gotten the impression lately that KJK isn't as cautious as he was before when interacting with SJH. I am looking forward to see how they'll interact in the next episode when there are guests who are used to the variety environment (though I think there's an idol member amongst the guests who's not as familiar with variety shows and I can't recall whose team she's on). As for when SJH got the bag, I don't think she realized that KJK was in danger of elimination and I think the fact that she wasn't going around looking for name tags to rip (she's used to doing it stealthily) might have been an indication that she was quite tired by the time the final mission was happening. I miss how quick-witted and talkative SJH used to be on RM as well and I'd love to see that side again. I think we see glimpses of that SJH when she interacts with LKS (like smacking LKS in 318 and the bridge scene when SJH, HH, and YJS are ganging up on LKS about how easily he falls in love). She probably does have quite a bit of small talk with guests but the PDs probably don't think it's entertaining enough to air. I think she talked with Cho Jae-Hyun for a while (as they had worked on a drama together) before KJK came by and because of the shortened episode time, those moments never made it to air. I kind of wish the PDs would release some cut material for each episode online.

  11. @chelseafjl8 I found those moments adorable too! I've really enjoyed that in this episode and the last one, their interactions have mainly consisted of them smiling and laughing with each other. I don't know why but it's just something I really enjoy.

I thought this was a fairly decent episode. I did like how they incorporated the history lesson at the end but I do recall reading a few comments that it was boring. This episode had 4 or 5 mission locations as they go gathering consonants so the screentime might not have been even, though I do think they tried hard to make sure it was. Editing was better, still a bit sloppy but it's slowly getting more polished. There was a mistake when they were showing who was out (HH and JSJ) and KJK and SJH weren't colored in but they are the next ones to be eliminated. I also like how they're attempting to make the name tag elimination rounds different but perhaps those would be best when there are no guests. As guests aren't used to the format of the show, keeping things simple would be best. Having too many rules might overwhelm them, like in this episode.

Spartace are on the same team this episode (LOL at SJH requesting KJK for her team, reminds me of the early days of RM). During the Karaoke-Jump Rope mission, though the girls nominate KJK to do the singing, he doesn't really want to do it; he even states that again when Jo Yoon Hee suggests he do it after she fails. But guess who's singing along when SJH does the mission. I was laughing pretty hard when it was revealed that SJH scored 100 points when SJH and KJK both agree that she was out of tune and sang badly.

Thanks @Erararara Jung for sharing those links. Especially that second one, the one about the wordplay mission because it shows how that scene might be interpreted by a Spartace shipper and I've also seen how a MC shipper had looked at that scene (though their interpretation did make me question if we watched the same episode). I'm interested in hearing how others saw that scene, especially KJK's statement of how the word "galgaekkun" seems to fit KG. I thought it may be it's because a character is similar to KG's name but the phrasing of his statement suggests that KG matches the definition of the word. Since it's a mission that's using either archaic or uncommon terms, things are probably going to get lost in translation so I can't rely a lot on the subs.

  12. About the lie detector, I think if a person who's anxious and frightened about their answer will be shocked regardless of whether the person is telling the truth or not. I had shown my sister the lie detector segment for laughs and she told me that device is popular for some idol segments. She had shown me a clip of BTS using it and J-Hope was strapped to it. The other members just said, "J-Hope," and he was immediately shocked. If I remember correctly, he's also the member who easily gets scared of things and lie detectors generally are only looking for spikes in heart rate. LKS was definitely thrown off by SJH's question and whatever answer he gives, he'd probably be nervous about since the crew would include it in the broadcast and there's the possibility that it could cause some headlines (SJH concerned with the LKS & Ji Eun answers and LKS concerned with his answer regarding SJH). Though, I don't think LKS and Ji Eun's segment made much of a stir but I could be wrong.

I had forgotten that KJK and SJH go to the same salon.

Is it just me or does the editing after SJH asks the "Would you date me If I asked?" question to LKS seem awkward, like a portion of the conversation got cut out. Like if it was just people laughing at the question, that doesn't seem to be something they would edit out.

@chelseafjl8 To answer your question, I think there have been far too many events/incidents/coincidences that suggest SpartAce are in a relationship or have more than platonic feelings for each other that I wouldn't believe the result if KJK was asked and he got shocked for answering yes.

  14. I remember seeing somewhere that people attribute the first 'fox' comment to YJS when I noticed in episode 76 that LKS calls SJH that when it's revealed that she's also a spy. So I'm wondering if it's sort of an inside joke amongst the cast to call her a fox but the cast members who've called her that on air are LKS, YJS, and KJK (am I missing someone? I can't recall). Though, I suppose the timing of YJS saying it is more interesting since he says it in episode 160 after he uses the phrase that it's 'the tiger and fox's wedding day' in episode 159. (Since I have too much time on my hands, I looked up the phrase and apparently it's a popular saying to refer to a sunny, rainy day. Also, the story it's from is about a fox who fell in love with a tiger, but he didn't know and married someone else so the rain is the fox's tears.)

In regards to the Nuyou interview where SJH says its a recent nickname from her oppas and KJK being the most recent person to call her that on air, I kind of get the feeling that whenever she's referring to oppa it's usually KJK on her mind or who she's referring to. (because, LOL, bias) I think the captions and subs assume this too because in 253 when SJH and Do Sang-Woo are coming up with poses they hope the others can't do, she says something like, "That's a good pose I bet oppa can't do that," and the captions put in parentheses "(Jong Kook)" to clarify that's who she's talking about. In episode 175 during the final mission where LKS has to hide because he's been voted by everyone to be ousted first. When SJH finds him, she immediately heads out the room to call for backup and she shouts mainly, "Oppa." She doesn't specify who but YJS runs in later to help her. However, the subtitle says she's calling for "Jong Kook," even though the captions also just write "Oppa." I don't know if this is the same in the Chinese subs but that's what they did for the English subs.

  15. So I'm in agreement with most of the statements here that Dispatch knows something. The fact that they chose to reply to HH's comment means something because they could have easily ignored it. Also, it would seem like a waste of an article if they outright said, "Yeah, we gave up." Having KJK's and SJH's names linked up in searches has been around since 2011/2012 so it seems ridiculous that barely any news outlets have looked into that.

@hr12_stv That is a thought that has crossed my mind a few times. I've always gotten the feeling that SJH is scrutinized/criticized more regarding the MC loveline so if KG were to reveal he was in a relationship first, it might make MC fans more open to SJH revealing she was in a relationship with someone else. Of course, there's always the chance that it does nothing.

@chelseafjl8 Thanks for giving us this information. I had seen the article but I don't really know much about these two celebrities (like the fact that Jinwoon was in a popular WGM loveline). It's nice that netizens are generally in support of this pairing. Hopefully this is the same reaction for Spartace.

Maybe it's just me but I found it really weird that SJH's participation in WAIL was talked about a lot on RM. Her other projects weren't really talked about unless it was to explain why she was tired or why she hasn't arrived yet (was it because it was airing on another network?) but there were quite a few references to this project.

Another thing I found strange/interesting is the final scenes in episode 82. When everyone was discussing this episode a few pages back, it was posited that it was a deliberate move from the crew for SJH to team up with YJS and JSJ following the news of her relationship with the CEO. If that's true, I wonder why they didn't have SJH sharing her umbrella with JSJ at the end and instead she shares it with KJK. I'm not entirely sure if sharing an umbrella is considered a couple thing in Korea so my rambling could just mean nothing. Nevertheless, it has provided us with a moment that's always in gifsets or photosets.

  16. This was sort of an okay episode. I didn't really love it but I didn't really hate it either. The atmosphere of the episode felt much calmer in comparison to last week's episode. I hope the crew takes into account what the members wrote down in the questionnaire and try to incorporate the ideas into future episodes. JSJ's idea for a future episode sounded interesting. I laughed quite a bit during the scene where LKS scares SJH and she curses at him.

The first mission had the members + Kyung Kyu and Hye Jin try to guess the 2nd - 6th ranked answers to questions. If the RM team guessed the answer that was in first place, Kyung Kyu and Hye Jin could replace names on a roulette that would be used to eliminate one member of the RM team for the boxing ring name tag battle. If the RM team guessed the 2nd - 6th ranked answers, they could eliminate a sticker on the boxes containing the remaining guests. I don't think there was any way for RM to "win" this mission but it did provide some funny moments. During the baby nickname question, the RM members made suggestions for what JSJ's nickname could have been. The references to "Joseon" and "Liberation" reminded me of when they saw JSJ's baby photo in episode 314 and joked about how old it looked. They also joke that KJK's future kids' nicknames will be Dumbbell and Barbell.

Since we're all talking about that scene in the car when Hye Jin brings up KJK's single status, I noticed that it's mainly the other married people who participate in the conversation. The other single people sort of keep quiet because if they jump in with the teasing, I think, there might be the chance that the question is turned on to them. @NdiA and @twinlovers have already mentioned it but KJK's answer is interesting. Usually his standard response to "Why aren't you married yet?" is "I don't have a girlfriend," or "I'm too busy working." Here, he says, "they told me to get married later." The last time he said this was the 2015 SBS Entertainment Awards right?

Also, apparently HH's comment about how KJK is so boring that Dispatch has given up on finding out his dating life caused Dispatch to write an article stating that they had "almost" given up. I took this to mean that they know something that we don't but it could be nothing.
