Hi everyone! ^^

I wasn't planning on posting in this thread, as I am generally more of a Lurker than Participater, but I've had so much fun reading everyone's posts here over the last few months. And now with passing the 900 page mark and the fantastic news that Joo Won is going to star in a musical again, I've finally summoned up the courage to surface!

I know a lot of people are saddened by the news that Cutie may be off our screens for a while but, until we are told otherwise, I'm choosing to believe we'll still have our weekly 1N2D fix and I'm sure there will be plenty of amazing and stimulating videos to enjoy from behind the scenes, interviews and lucky fans, if not directly from Joo Won himself. ^^

Even though I'm slightly disappointed that he's not going to be reprising his role in Spring Awakening, I'm thrilled that he's going back to doing something he so clearly loves and is so perfectly suited for, and I admire him even more for making what must have been a fairly difficult and risky decision.

The moment I heard Cutie sing Snowflower in 1N2D is the moment when my admiration and general attraction exploded into full-blown obsession! He has one of the most beautiful, varied and affecting voices I've ever heard and is actually one of only two tenor voices I actively love. (I'm generally more of a bass/baritone kinda gal!) I went into a mad frenzy of searching for every clip of Cutie singing I could find. I downloaded the soundtracks to both Spring Awakening and Altar Boyz, which have had heavy rotation on my mp3 players ever since, and managed to find a video of the full original American-cast performance of Spring Awakening, which then shot straight to the top of my list of Favourite Musicals of all Time. (A position previously held by West Side Story for at least 20 years!) Picturing Joo Won as Melchior while I watched, (through floods of tears) was mindblowing to say the least! :-O :x

Anyway...Wow! Sorry. This is turning out way longer than I expected and I haven't even gotten to my point yet!

Which is this:
Joo Won is far too amazing and talented a singer to not be making use of his voice on a regular basis and depriving us of his vocal talents all of this time, is practically criminal!

In that vein, I'd like to share this video that I hope you will enjoy, particularly the moatier among you!

You may have already seen the original video on wanida99's youtube channel. But when I aquired the Altar Boyz Soundtrack and discovered the song and then the English lyrics, I laughed hysterically for a good 10 minutes and decided to I had to make an English version of the video so others could discover the true (moaty) meaning behind Cutie's adorable grins, blushing and the cheeky head nods towards the end! ^^

As the saying goes, 'Be care what you wish for' I had always been intrigued by Joo Won's performance in Spring Awakening. Not that I have seen it but reading the story and from the little clips we had, I wished that one day I would be able to watch him live on theater stage. Little did I expect that he would really return to theater. At least not this soon, just when his popularity is rising. In one of his interviews I translated, he said he would like to return to the theater one day and I knew that it is his first love, it's where he really feels alive, standing there on stage in front of a live audience. Korean musical theater scene is one of the brightest in Asia, if not,definitely rising to be among the top few in the world. However, it's still not mainstream and by its nature, it can't be. It's definitely not for popularity that Joo Won made this decision even though the run is just for 6 or 8 months. I am uncertain of the money he can earn from this either because I understand that by and large, theater actors don't earn much. Joo Won earn pittance in his drama theater days and he probably can command a lot more now but nothing like appearing in a movie or being a A-lister with CFs and endorsements. He mentioned that he had a lot of respect for his Ojakgyo "hyung" Jung Woong In who apparently has gone back to theater because he had a family to feed and the pay wasn't good. Joo Won admired him for sacrificing to pursue his passion in acting. Now that I look back, I think all the signs were there, he really missed the stage and that's where his passion lies.

Joo Won continues to surprise me. There were quite a few times, I found myself thinking this man can't be real. He is so different from the many actors and celebrities out there. He might act aegyo and all but don't let that man-child demeanor fool you, he is a young man who thinks a lot more than we assume and farther than most his age. Out of my selfishness, I wish he did not take up this theater stint but if I really love him, I think I have to let him go. I can only support him and pray for him that he may succeed in his endeavors, live and enjoy life to the fullest.

I think maybe that was why JW was grinning and blushing from hearing the lyrics objected on him. Soooooo cute! And awesome words you have put across on his singing skills. In fact ever since his last drama finished I am listening to the OST he sang for it. Such a fantastic crooner and there is a calmness and smoothness when he sings. Just the thought of not seeing him on the small screen for a long time is really daunting but I am hoping the best for his career

The musical opened at the Manchester Opera House in 2011, went from West End to Broadway, and is now doing UK and US tours.
