이기우 "취재진에 둘러싸여 군대 가야죠"

“군대 갈 때 외롭지 않게 최선을 다할 거예요”

배 우 이기우(27)의 각오가 남다르다. “데뷔 이후 올해 가장 많은 활동을 하고 있다”며 생긋 웃은 이기우는 “드라마 미팅 후 감독님께서 ‘군대 갈 때 외롭게 혼자 가고 싶으냐’ 아니면 ‘취재진들에 둘러싸여 가고 싶으냐’고 물으셨다. ‘드라마 끝난 뒤 꼭 많은 사람에 둘러싸여 군대에 가게 해주겠으니 열심히 해라’고 격려해주셨다. 나 역시 그렇게 되기 위해 열심히 할 생각”이라며 자신감을 보였다.

2003년 영화 ‘클래식’으로 데뷔한 이기우는 그동안 KBS2 ‘이 죽일 놈의 사랑’ MBC ‘발칙한 여자들’. 영화 ‘극장전’ ‘새드무비’ ‘두 사람이다’ 등 수십 편의 영화에 모습을 드러내며 꾸준한 활동을 했다. 12월에는 SBS 드라마 ‘스타의 연인’과 18일 개봉하는 영화 ‘달콤한 거짓말’에서 비중 있는 역할을 맡았다.

연기 를 위해 끊임없이 노력하는 스타일이다. 작품에 들어가기 전. 모든 대본을 다 외우며 전체적인 흐름을 파악하고 지금도 보이스 레코더로 자신의 대사 톤을 정리하고 있다. 큰 키 때문에 상대배우에 비해 말라 보이는 단점을 보완하려고 꾸준한 웨이트 트레이닝을 하고 있다.

이기우는 그동안의 연기생활에 대해 “사실 나 자신도 많이 어색했다. 언젠가부터 내가 (촬영)현장에 적응을 하고 있고. 더이상 움츠러들지 않고 있다는 것을 알게 됐다”며 “(연기에)의욕도 생기고 자연스러워지고 있다”고 말했다. 190㎝의 큰 키 탓에 ‘키 큰 배우’라는 닉네임에 대해 “사실 이전에 누군가 키를 물으면 189㎝라고 말했는데. 요즘은 그냥 본래의 키를 말한다”면서 “키 역시 나를 대표하는 한 표현이라고 생각한다. 어느 순간부터 모든 것에 여유가 생긴 것 같다”고 말했다.
