I wouldn't mind actress in particular. Especially for local theaters or volunteering. A few times since I was young, I did dreamed of becoming one. I have always liked reading plays, poety, literature, and plus I was in some theatrical performances before.

I know I can't sing for beetles.

Maybe because it sounds like a good career, etc. in their view

to make a lot of money & become successful in the future. ;)

Others also do it because it's a talent of their own.

Seriously, I do want to become a singer or actor. And if you ask for my reason I would answer honestly that it's media influence. Besides that I have the passion for singing, although I can't sing to save my life. It's also because I'm a fantasizer, if that's a word. I tend to dream of living a celeberity life and would really want to experience it for like a couple of days? Haha. Oh, and plus the fact that I get to see hot people. HAHAHAH. XD

It's not as bad as some make it sound x]

reasons in general:

1. passion (yes it does exist!) for the job

2. money~! (they can still make a change like donating to charity like angelina)

3. fame and adoration (the positive side) - to have people to look up to you, and maybe you can make a difference in young teens by being a good role model

well i think singing would be a lot easier than flippin burgers at mcdonalds.

and you'd make a whole lot more money singing/acting than being a doctor.

so basically $$ and not so much physical work. (yes i do know actors/singers wake up early and work blah blah its still not as hard as doing a lot of physical labour)

but i dont want to be either. id hate to be famous. i love walking around without being attacked yay.

edit--

ahh thats what im getting at. i know some doctors make more money than singers but the orginal question was "why do so many people want to become a singer or an actor?" and my answer was basically money. i wasnt trying to be factual or anything.

....because singer and/or actor doing just easier job than doctor but they paid more, they don't have to think so hard to do that.

Everything that easy and promising is the best choice!

Why you have to be a doctor, thinking too much and doing hard work if you could just sing and/or act to gain as much money as doctor? Be realistic, it's easy and simple.

For me, I'd like to be a singer. The general reasons just easy...I have nice voice (certified :P), money, fame, money, fame, and money. Be true, that's all. Nothing more.

Young people nowadays needs affection of proudly job, not dreaming job. Hhhh....the media does effect.

SG Fighting!

people idolise actors and singers.. basically famous people

our society today is so focused on what these celebriries do and how they live, just look at all the magazine devoted to this stuff. To be a famous actor or singer, basically means that you will be awed, and in the centre of attention, everyone wants to be you.

for example.. when paris went to jail, the news was focused on that. how many people who watched the news that day, knew that paris was in jail? A LOT. how many people knew, how many people died in afghanistan that day?

just shows how the world is focused.

thats why people want to be an actor or a singer. if you have talent, go ahead.

personally, I NEVER wanted to be famous for that.

Only the most popular singers would make more than a doctor. The stereotype of the starving artist exists for a reason - because MOST singers NEVER get the "big break" and remain obscure unknowns who wait tables during the day and sing in small no-name clubs at night, never making diddly squat on the money or fame side of things. That's the harsh reality. For every one famous singer, there are hundreds, probably thousands, who get nowhere.

Being a doctor, on the other hand, is an extremely reliable way to make a lot of money - you don't have to be "discovered", you get that M.D. and you WILL make money if you care to actually go into active practice. No crappy day job, no getting lucky, no right-place-right-time, you just make lots of money every day.

And the notion that doctors don't make as much as singers, not sure where that comes from. A doctor right out of school can already expect to make a six figure income in year one, with some experience a half-million a year is not uncommon, and top specialists can easily make a million or more per year.

A theatrical actor (as opposed to movies) would be very lucky indeed to make as much as $30,000 in an average year. For TV work you MIGHT be able to break $100,000 a year if you work constantly through the year (good luck with that, even if you want to work that much), but the Screen Actors Guild says it's members average annual salaries tend to be closer to $13,000 a year from acting gigs.

Singers aren't going to be much better off than the actors, very possibly worse so.

You become a singer or an actor because you love it, not because you want to make a lot of money at it. You MIGHT make a lot of money on it, but you shouldn't expect it.

I used to say that I wanted to be a singer since I was in grade 2!

ha ha, but I honestly, want to be a doctor.

I love singing and it would be awsome, but it's not something I've only seriously thought of pursueing that career once.

I don't want and never wanted to be a singer/actress even though I love dancing, singing and acting.

Why? Because I like having a private personal life and walking on the streets without people attacking me.

Plus, I don't really have patience and I don't like attention/many people around me.

The only good thing I see about it is that you can have lots of money and be around hot people.

i hate it when adults say that sort of stuff. i mean, yeah, there are a lot of kids who want to become famous JUST BECAUSE you'll be famous, but there's also a lot of other people who want to become singers for the singing and to do what you really love and enjoy.

i've held a dream of singing since i was four years old. 11 years later, i'm trying the hardest i've ever tried to get to that point, so i can finally be able to do what i love and enjoy and have fun with it all. i've heard EVERYONE telling me what a stressful job it is, and how hectic and all the paparazzi or whatever, but i can honestly say if it means getting what i love to do done, then i'm fine with all at hectic-ness. -_- i love stages, and i love huge crowds of people. i love having the attention on me. i love all the hard training, and the dance rooms and record studios. i absolutely ADORE everything about it.

maybe i'm a little BLEH in my answer right now, but it's just how i feel.
