[Korea Instructor Newspaper Han Sang-hyung] The movie <#Alive> is a drama directed by Jo Il-hyung that was released in Korea on June 24, 2020. It is a 98-minute movie with a cast that includes Yoo Ah-in, Park Shin-hye as the main characters, Jeon Bae-soo, Lee Hyun-wook, and Oh Hye-won as supporting characters, and a viewer review information that recorded an actual audience rating of 6.89 and a cumulative audience of 1,903,992. The viewing age is 15 and up.

Let's find out the plot of the movie <#Alive> introduced by Naver Movies.

A city that is out of control due to attacks by people with unknown causes. Jun-woo (Yoo Ah-in) wakes up without knowing what is happening and finds himself isolated in an empty house. Isolated with data, Wi-Fi, text messages, and phone calls all cut off. Jun-woo can no longer hold out after losing contact with his family and running out of even the bare minimum of food. But at that moment, someone sends a signal from the apartment across the street. Jun-woo finds out that another survivor, Yoo-bin (Park Shin-hye), is still alive and sets out to find a way for them to survive together.

“I must survive!”

The movie <#Alive> is a realistic depiction of ordinary people who could be around us, isolated in the space where they live and surviving, cut off from all means of communication with the outside world.

When he opened his eyes, the city had become out of control. In the middle of it all, Jun-woo is bewildered by the unbelievable reality he sees, while also worrying about his family whom he cannot contact, and falls into a state of panic. This is an extremely ordinary scene that evokes sympathy. As time passes, Jun-woo grows tired of the situation where he cannot do anything, but soon begins to face reality little by little. Jun-woo divides the leftover food into small portions by date and stores them, but eventually succumbs to his appetite, and tries to find the radio frequency in an analog way, but is blocked by crucial equipment. Jun-woo clumsily tries to survive, making us laugh out loud with his realistic and humane appearance.

On the other hand, another survivor, 'Yoo-bin', who appears in front of such 'Jun-woo', shows a completely different charm from 'Jun-woo' with her bold and calm appearance, devising a survival strategy based on thorough planning from A to Z. 'Yoo-bin's' character, who builds her own fortress with mountain camping gear to prepare for unidentified beings invading the house, and even keeps a hatchet and ice pick near her path to defend against any attack, adds vitality to the play.

Jun-woo and Yu-bin, who realize each other's existence as survivors across the apartment complex, join forces to survive together rather than trying to survive on their own. The struggles of these two characters with different personalities and styles but the same desperation and will to survive provide breathtaking tension and fun with unpredictable developments. Jun-woo, who becomes alone overnight and is desperate in an unknown reality, and Yu-bin, who calmly and boldly plans her own survival strategy. The survival methods shown by these two contrasting characters provide the fresh fun and empathy unique to <#Alive>.

Also, this film is a work by director Cho Il-hyung based on a script by Hollywood screenwriter Matt Naylor, who directed and produced the American TV documentary series . There were netizens who questioned whether this film was based on a webtoon, but it is not.

A moviegoer wrote in a review, “The movie started to receive a lot of attention before its release. In particular, it was a movie that received high expectations because of the news that actor Yoo Ah-in, whose acting skills have been recognized by many viewers, would be appearing. After the movie was released, it was enough to inject new vitality into the theaters that had been deserted due to COVID-19, and it began to attract viewers with a successful start. However, most of the viewers who watched the movie did not have good reviews. Personally, I think the casting and acting of the actors were good, but the storyline from beginning to end was disappointing.”

●Synopsis● Episode 16 of
" Doctor Slump " (viewership rating 6.5%) depicts Jung-woo (Park Hyung-sik) deciding to happily send Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye) off to overseas training.

Ha-neul has finished preparing to accept Jung-woo's proposal. However, on the day she made a promise to meet Jung-woo, Ha-neul was proposed to go on an overseas training program for six months, and the two of them fell into a dilemma again. It was clear that this would be a good experience and opportunity for Ha-neul as a doctor, but it was not a short time to spend away from Jung-woo. However, Jung-woo saw that Ha-neul was worried and reassured her by saying that she should not worry about him and that if she wanted to go, she should go. Of course, that was not Jung-woo's honest feeling.

Daeyoung (Yoon Park) was in a situation where he needed help from Hongran (Gong Sungha) after a complaint about a monster patient. He felt sorry that Hongran was showing the opposite side of her promise to protect him. He was even more upset when Hyeji (Song Jiwoo), who he had worked with for a long time, resigned. Jungwoo told him to try and catch him, but Daeyoung replied, "If it's for your dream, it's right to send him off. How amazing it is to have something you want to do. I don't want to put it off because of my own greed. If it's for the other person, it's right to send him off 100 times, even 1,000 times."

Those words touched Jungwoo's heart and he decided to send Howl off. The two imagined how they would spend the remaining time before they parted ways and the six months they would be apart. However, the more their resolve faded, the more Ha-neul lost the opportunity to study abroad. Before she could tell Jungwoo and her family about the situation, a tearful goodbye party was held, and Ha-neul was helpless. Fortunately, Jung-woo finds out that Ha-neul's overseas training program has been a failure and manages to cover it up.
