Character descriptions

 

Seo Dong Joo (Park Hyun Sik) is the head of the external cooperation team at the presidential secretariat of the Korean Group. He is known for being a "Daesan" man who will live and die for the benefit of Daesan. Although he is known for it, the truth is he is ambitious and wants to take down Daesan if there's an opportunity.

It’s finally official: Park Hyung Sik and Heo Joon Ho will be starring in SBS’s upcoming drama “Treasure Island” (literal translation)!

“Treasure Island,” which is slated to air in 2025, will tell the story of a man who manages to hack a political slush fund account worth 2 trillion won (approximately $1.5 billion) and the man who kills him without knowing he’s been hacked—thus accidentally losing the entire 2 trillion won. The drama will be penned by “Money Flower” writer Lee Myung Hee and helmed by “Military Prosecutor Doberman” director Jin Chang Gyu.

On September 13, SBS officially confirmed that Park Hyung Sik and Heo Joon Ho would be playing the leading roles in the upcoming drama.

Park Hyung Sik will star as Seo Dong Joo, the leader of the Daesan Group chairperson’s Public Affairs team. Although he appears on the outside to be a loyal “Daesan man” through and through, Seo Dong Joo is secretly full of ambition and ready to seize an opportunity to swallow Daesan Group whole.

Heo Joon Ho will play the wealthy and immensely powerful professor Yum Jang Sun, who was formerly the head of the National Intelligence Service (NIS). Yum Jang Sun controls kingmakers from behind and secretly holds the strings to all of society, and he derives pleasure from being able to move people around at his will like puppets.

“Treasure Island,” which has already begun filming, will premiere in 2025.

Park Hyung Sik and Heo Joon Ho's SBS drama Treasure Island is scheduled to premiere in 2025.  

Treasure Island tells the story of a man who hacks into an account holding 2 trillion won of political slush funds to survive. In a turn of events, he is killed by a secret force. However, he comes back alive, with all his memories lost. 

The script is written by Lee Myung Hee, and Military Prosecutor Doberman director Jin Chang Gyu takes the helm. 

Park Hyung Sik will play Seo Dong Ju, the head of external affairs at the secretary's office of Daesan Group's chairman. Everyone says that "Seo Dong Ju lives and dies for Daesan's benefit," but deep down, he hides a burning ambition to seize control of the entire company if the opportunity arises. His character is meticulous and fiercely ambitious. 

Heo Joon Ho will portray Yeom Jang Seon, a former head of the National Intelligence Service and now a distinguished professor at a law school, who is the true power behind the scenes, controlling the kingmaker.  

Yeom Jang Seon is a character who feels a euphoric thrill when he wields money and power as he pleases, and believes the only way for him to survive is through controlling everyone around him like marionettes.

This character is expected to be one of the most powerful and commanding figures portrayed by Heo Joon Ho.

Treasure Island is scheduled to air on SBS in 2025. More news about the K-drama's global OTT service is yet to come.

SBS confirms the premiere of Heo Joon Ho and Park Hyung Sik's upcoming K-drama "Treasure Island"

Heo Joon Ho and Park Hyung Sik's new K-drama is confirmed to premiere on SBS.

On September 17, SBS confirmed the production of the upcoming political K-drama Treasure Island. Heo Joon Ho and Park Hyung Sik are the confirmed main leads. The broadcast channel also revealed that the series will air in 2025. 

Treasure Island will tell the story of a man who got the opportunity to hack a political slush fund account amounting to 2 trillion Korean won (approximately $1.5 billion) to survive and the man who killed the hacker without knowing that he got hacked and blew away his money. 

The upcoming K-drama will be the collaboration work of director Jin Chang Gyu (Military Prosecutor Doberman) and writer Lee Myung Hee (Money Flower and Oh My Geum Bi). 

Aside from Heo Joon Ho and Park Hyung Sik, actors Hong Hwa Yeon, Woo Hyun, Lee Hae Young, and Yoon Sang Hyeon will also be part of the cast. 

Treasure Island will exclusively premiere on SBS. The K-drama will have a total of 16 episodes and it will possibly premiere in the first half of next year.

Heo Joon Ho will portray the role of Yeom Jang Sun. He is a former officer of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and also a professor of law at a law school. He secretly controls everything in society and enjoys the power to move people around like puppets. 

This will be the second upcoming K-drama of Heo Joon Ho for 2025. The veteran actor will also lead the new series Mercy for None with So Ji Sub, Ahn Kil Kang, Lee Bum Soo, Gong Myung, and more. 

Park Hyung Sik will portray the role of Seo Dong Joo. He works as the head of the Public Affairs team of the Daesan Group's presidential office. Although he seems like the most loyal and will do anything for the Daesan group, he hides his desire to secretly swallow Daesan Group whole when an opportunity arises.

This K-drama will be the follow-up K-drama project of Park Hyung Sik after the popular series Doctor Slump. Aside from Treasure Island, the idol actor will also lead the upcoming melodrama Desperado directed by Jang Hoon (A Taxi Driver).
