Cho Jin-Woong cast in drama “No Way Out”

Actor Cho Jin-Woong is cast in drama series “No Way Out” co-starring Yoo Jae-Myung, Kim Moo-Yul, & Lee Kwang-Soo. Cho Jin-Woong replaces actor  Lee Sun-Kyun, who dropped out of the drama series in late October due to a widely publicized drug scandal. Filming for the drama series began prior to Lee Sun-Kyun’s departure, but he did not film any scenes and production halted while his replacement was sought. With Cho Jin-Woong now cast as main character Baek Joong-Sik, filming will restart November 23, 2023.

Taking a look at Studio X+U’s 2024 K-Content lineup

Continuing the climb into the K-content big leagues, LG’s production company Studio X+U came out with a new video announcement showcasing their… er… “non-fungible condensed entertainment lineup” (to use their words) for 2024. Although the broadcaster is not yet confirmed for some of the shows, presumably most will be releasing on LG’s own platform, U+ Mobile TV.

The upcoming mystery thriller drama “No Way Out: The Roulette” has revealed more cast lineup!

“No Way Out: The Roulette” is an upcoming drama that depicts the fierce confrontation between “those who want to kill” and “those who want to survive” amidst the situation where a bounty of 20 billion won (approximately $14.7 million) is placed for the murder of a heinous criminal who is released from prison.

Originally slated to portray the lead character Baek Joong Sik, the late actor Lee Sun Gyun withdrew from the project following drug-related allegations and his untimely passing.

Subsequently, Jo Jin Woong has assumed the role of Baek Joong Sik, a detective who finds himself in the ironic position of having to protect the notorious criminal Kim Gook Ho. Yoo Jae Myung plays Kim Gook Ho, the ex-convict now targeted for nationwide execution after his 13-year imprisonment.

Other key characters include those who seek to use the public assassination offer for their own purposes. Kim Moo Yeol plays Lee Sang Bong, Kim Gook Ho’s legal representative and lawyer. Driven by ambitions to achieve success in this corrupt world, Lee Sang Bong volunteers to become Kim Gook Ho’s lawyer. Yum Jung Ah portrays Ahn Myung Ja, the two-faced mayor of Hosan, who, upon facing the demise of her political career, sees Kim Gook Ho as her last hope and decides to use him.

Sung Yoo Bin stars as Seo Dong Ha, Kim Gook Ho’s son and a prodigious violinist burdened by the stigma of being a murderer’s son. Greg Han will star as Mr. Smile, a seasoned and ruthless killer who comes to Korea to kill Kim Gook Ho. Notably, this will mark his first debut in a Korean drama.

Lee Kwang Soo portrays Yoon Chang Jae, a butcher aiming to claim the substantial financial reward by killing Kim Gook Ho. Lastly, Kim Sung Cheol joins the ensemble as Sung Joon Woo, a young pastor who wields his influence over the believers of his huge church.

The upcoming mystery thriller drama “No Way Out: The Roulette” has unveiled a gripping first teaser!

“No Way Out: The Roulette” is an upcoming drama depicting the fierce battle among individuals with no way out, ignited by a nationwide bounty of 20 billion won (approximately $14.5 million) on the life of a notorious criminal about to be released from prison.

The teaser begins with an unidentified man, known as Masked Man, spinning a roulette that lands on the name Kim Gook Ho (Yoo Jae Myung), a criminal who is being released after his 13-year imprisonment. The rules of the roulette are laid out: “Select the target and spin the roulette to determine the action and reward.”

Tensions escalate as the roulette stops at “20 billion won” and “kill.” Detective Baek Joong Sik (Jo Jin Woong), ironically tasked with protecting the infamous Kim Gook Ho, declares, “There’s now a 20 billion won bounty on your head.” The teaser then shows various individuals armed with guns and knives, ready to carry out the assassination for the reward.

The criminal spectacle of Money Heist meets the competitive blood sport of Squid Game in the upcoming Disney+/LG U+ Mobile TV drama No Way Out: The Roulette starring Jo Jin-woong (The Good Bad Mother) and a star-studded ensemble cast.

As the teaser wastes no time explaining, Baek Joong-shik (Jo Jin-woong) was a regular detective until the day one of his perps was set to be released from prison: the violent serial killer Kim Kook-ho, played by Yoo Jae-myung (Uncle Samsik). After serving a meager 13 years, Kook-ho reached the end of his sentence only for the both of them to discover a masked vigilante has announced (via flashy money-rain display) a 200-million won bounty for anyone who kills Kook-ho.

 

 

With all eyes and weapons pointed towards Kook-ho, Joong-shik’s new job is to keep him alive. And despite Kook-ho’s relatively blasé attitude toward the whole situation, he’s turned into a nationwide spectacle, with everyone from the down-on-their-luck butcher Lee Kwang-soo (The Killer’s Shopping List) to the city mayor Yeom Jung-ah (Cleaning Up), scheming to see how they can use this situation to their advantage.

But not everyone is out to get Kook-ho — he has others in his corner like his lawyer, the handsome and charismatic Kim Mu-yeol (Sweet Home 2), campaigning for his human rights in the streets. And not to mention Kook-ho’s teen son, who had to struggle living under the shadow of a criminal dad for all these years.

It’s a messy situation all around for Joong-shik because while it’s pretty obvious that Kook-ho is unrepentant for his crimes, Joong-shik’s sense of justice won’t allow him to sit by and let people “act like animals just to catch an animal.” So in an ironic twist, Joong-shik now has to protect the worst of criminals from the public instead of the other way around. As for how well he does… we’ll have to see.

No Way Out: The Roulette follows Baek Joong Sik (Jo Jin Woong), a detective who must protect Kim Kook Ho (Yoo Jae Myung), a heinous criminal who becomes a target for murder due to the 20-billion-won bounty on his head after his release from prison. 

The poster features the eight individuals entangled in the chaos that ensues upon Kim Kook Ho's prison release.

 

 

The trailer begins with a news report of Kim Kook Ho's (Yoo Jae Myung) prison release and an enormous bounty promised for whoever kills him, opening the doors of chaos. The "Masked Man's" roulette game, promising 20 billion won for Kim's death, sends people into a frenzy, leading them to resort to extreme measures for the tempting prize. Baek Joong Sik, who is tasked with protecting the criminal, says, "Your life is now worth 20 billion." Kim Kook Ho, on the other hand, feels wronged for becoming the nation's target.

Upcoming mystery thriller drama “No Way Out : The Roulette” has shared character posters of its stars!

“No Way Out : The Roulette” depicts the fierce battle among individuals trapped in a high-stakes game with no way out.
