Brad Pitt reveals nasty gash on his face from running up the stairs in the dark
Brad Pitt sported a nasty gash across his face as he arrived at a charity event in Hollywood last night (April 26).


The 51-year-old actor was attending the third annual Light Up the Blues Concert, which was raising money and awareness for US advocacy organization Autism Speaks. 
He told People of his bruised and battered appearance: "This is what happens when you try to run up steps in the dark, with your arms full, wearing flip flops.


"Turns out if you then try to stop your forward momentum with your face, the result is road rash.
"Regardless, I wasn't going to miss the Autism Speaks benefit the night after - wonderful people, and I was honored to be a part of this important event."


The star was also displaying a full bushy beard, said to be for his new role in financial drama The Big Short co-starring Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling.
Jack Black acted as Master of Ceremonies at the gala and auctioned off a Fender guitar, which was signed by the performers at the event, all of whom suffer from autism.
 

Pitt ended up winning the bid for the guitar and parting with a generous $23,000. 
Other celebrity guests at the event included Christina Applegate and Gary Cole.
