Big Mama to disband after 8 years together

After debuting in 2003 with their hit single, “Break Away“, power-vocalist quartet Big Mama has announced that they will be going their separate ways.

Big Mama’s agency, Taillruns Media, revealed through Star News on February 22nd, “Big Mama will be coming out with a new album, which will be their last before disbanding.”

The reason for Big Mama’s disintegration lies in their desire to pursue solo activities. Taillruns Media said, “The members will be going their own ways as solo artists and are upset that they will be ending their promotions together after 8 years.”

In actuality, the members began walking their own paths about two years ago. Lee Young Hyun revealed her first solo album, “Take It“, back in November of 2009 while Lee Ji Young revealed a single in December of last year. Also, team leader Shin Yeon Ah and maknae Park Min Hye went their separate ways after their contracts ended in January. The announcement from Taillruns Media, therefore, acts as the official agency notice to Big Mama’s fans.

Earlier on the 20th, Shin Yeon Ah wrote a message on Big Mama’s fan cafe about her new beginning. “Since January 15th, my contract as well as Min Hye’s with Taillruns has ended. Many of you may not be able to understand well or may question us, but I thought it would be good to explain our situation.”

She continued, “Now it is almost Spring. The long days of winter where our bodies were listless are now over. We hope that as new days come, you can freely move your bodies like a baby bird. We are currently preparing Big Mama’s last album, and it will be revealed within the first half of this year.”

Big Mama had made their debut in February of 2003 with their first album, “Like the Bible“, and gained a huge popularity with their songs, “Break Away” and “Resignation“. They had released their fifth album in 2010, but did not promote it.

Big Mama’s agency asserts that news of disbandment was exaggerated

Contrary to earlier reports, Big Mama’s agency has stepped up to assert that news of the group’s disbandment were in fact, exaggerations. Media outlets reported that the soulful quartet were disbanding after eight years together in pursuit of solo careers.

Big Mama’s agency told My Star News on February 22nd, “It is not a disbandment. It’s true that Shin Yeon Ah and Park Min Hye’s contracts have ended, but we will not go so far as to say ‘disbanding’.”

They continued, “Lee Ji Hye and Lee Young Hyun have finalized the renewal of their contracts, and renewal talks for the other two members are still being refined. Even if Shin Yeon Ah and Park Min Hye decide to contract with a different agency, Big Mama will still exist.”

Big Mama will be releasing their new album this coming June.

Vibe, Big Mama and 4Men to form a group together?

Tailruns Media, a label that houses notable vocal groups such as Vibe, Big Mama, and 4Men, recently revealed that they will be coming together for a project album named, ‘T Project’ that will feature all of their artists.

The album was in planning for nearly a year and will not disappoint. The artists will form unit groups and have decided to promote and perform the album. The company stated that the name was decided as ‘T Project’ because the letter “T” had multiple meanings, such as: Together, Talent, Timeless, Today, Tray, Trump, To be, Top, Turn Up, Trust, and Turning point.

Three of Korea’s most respected vocal groups merging together into one? Get ready for some intense eargasm, as everything will be revealed on April 4th.

Big Mama Soul releases MV for “Angel” + tracks from new digital single, “Nouvelle”

As reported earlier, Big Mama’s sub-unit group, Big Mama Soul, were working on their debut solo release. Comprised of members Shin Yuna and Park Min Hye, the duo sought to reemerge into the spotlight, and the industry waited eagerly for some musical talent that broke away from the typical idol flavor.

The duo have finally made their comeback with the release of their album, “Nouvelle”, which is comprised of three songs, “Angel”, “Bye Bye” and “After”.
