cash is important, I recently tried to make a purchase at the self check out at Walmart and the machine was down

thats the problem with cards sometimes the system or power could go down and you will be helpless

emergency cash should always be carried, especially if your traveling

I prefer not to carry too much cash because I have to travel by public transport to and from work. But usually I keep at least $50 in case of emergency.

Just a word of advice. If using a credit card doesn't cause you to overspend, USE IT INSTEAD OF A DEBIT CARD.

You will probably not get your money back if a fraudster drains your bank account. Much easier to get compensated with credit card.
