"The Throne" Lee Joon-ik, "Moon Geun-young and Kim Hae-sook's acting was intensified"

Stills of the movie "The Throne" were released on the 25th. The stills were of Moon Geun-young, Jeon Hye-jin, Kim Hae-sook, Park Won-sang and others.

Moon Geun-young plays Princess Hye-kyeong who gets married to Prince Sado at the age of ten and develops a dilemma as his wife and mother of Jeong Jo. To protect her son from Sado and Yeong Jo, she persuades her mother-in-law The Queen and disregards her husband's death. Kim Hae-sook is Yeong Jo's stepmother and Queen In Won who adores Sado.

Her performance has weight as she conflicts with Yeong Jo who tries to drive out Sado. Jeon Hye-jin plays Sado's birth mother but gets killed by her husband. She pleads to her husband about her son's mistakes like any affectionate mother would do.

Park Won-sang plays Queen Hye-kyeong's father and Sado's father-in-law named Hong Bong-han. On the outside he lives up to Yeong Jo's expectations and works for government reformation but has to keep silent about his son-in-law's death for the sake of family honor.

Director Lee Joon-ik said, ""The Throne" follows the psychological patterns between people and looks into the lives of people who do their best to protect their families". "The Throne" is the story of Prince Sado who died 8 days after being shut in a chest by his own father. Prince Sado only wanted to be a son to his father who had to be King.

The movie comes out in September.

Moon Geun Young and Kim Jae Wook confirmed for SBS murder mystery The Village

d36aaddd-d95c-4991-a78f-c4a05bc6aedd.png

After months of declining various casting offers, Moon Geun Young has officially confirmed her next drama project as SBS mystery thriller The Village. Joining her will be actor Kim Jae Wook, most likely in a second lead role.

These casting confirmations come as great news to fans who have been waiting impatiently for both actors to return to dramaland. Moon Geun Young's last drama was the 2013 series Goddess of Fire, and, although Kim Jae Wook had a role last year in Inspiring Generation, he abruptly left the series after only 8 episodes. Before that, you may recall that he played the second male lead in Who Are You, but that hardly counts since his ghost character didn't actually talk — at all.

The Village: Achiara's Secret (working title) will portray a small, quiet village with very little crime. When an unidentified corpse is uncovered, peaceful village life is turned upside down as an investigation ensues to discover who the body is, how she died, and why no one was looking for her.

Moon Geun Young will headline the drama as a language teacher who tries to discover the secret behind the corpse. Kim Jae Wook plays an art teacher whose handsome looks make him popular with female students. So far, it sounds like his will be a second lead role (Again? Whyyyyyyy?), as the original plot descriptions indicated that the male lead would be a police officer. It's worth noting that this isn't just Kim Jae Wook playing a second lead again; it's Kim Jae Wook playing second lead to Moon Geun Young again (the first time being Mary Stayed out All Night).

The cast for this series is shaping up nicely! We already had confirmations from Shin Eun Kyung and Jang Hee Jin for their roles as the respective wife and mistress of the richest man in town.

Lee Yul Eum (Divorce Lawyer in Love) also confirmed her role in the series as a high schooler who lives a carefree life on the outside but harbors pain from her difficult family life. Child actress Ahn Seo Hyun (Suzy's little sister in Dream High) will play a middle schooler who teams up with Moon Geun Young for the investigation. At a young age, she earned a reputation for having supernatural abilities.

The Village comes from writer Do Hyun Jung (Que Sera, Sera and Can Love Become Money) and PD Lee Yong Suk (IljimaeThe Great Seer). It is set to premiere on SBS following the conclusion of Yong Pal in October.

What do you think of all this casting news? Who would you like to see as the police officer male lead? Do you secretly wish they would just cut the character and let Kim Jae Wook play the lead for once? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Period flick ‘The Throne’ photos released

restmb_jhidxmake.php?idx=5&simg=20150825

Photos of characters starring in South Korean period flick “The Throne” were released Tuesday.

In the film portraying the tragic fate of King Yeongjo’s family, Moon Geun-young plays Queen Hyegyeong, wife of crown prince Sado. Queen Hyegyeong is a character who avoids her husband in order to protect her son.

In the photo, Moon puts her arms around a boy who covers his eyes and stares right in front with a firm facial expression.

Actor Kim Hae-sook is slotted for the role of Queen Inwon, wife of King Sukjong and mother of King Yeongjo.

Queen Inwon is known to be on Sado’s side, standing up to King Yeongjo, who tried to lash out at him. In the photo, Kim displays a rather cynical expression, looking upon someone through glaring eyes.

Director Lee Joon-ik said, “Actors were great enough to portray each scene with upmost quality, delivering the conflicts and relationships between each character so precisely.”

“The Throne” is based on the historical event in which King Yeongjo of the Joseon era executed his son Sado by locking him in a rice chest for eight days. The film, to be released in September, stars Song Kang-Ho, Yoo Ah-in and So Ji-sub.

Moon Geun Young Plays A Terrified Princess In 'The Throne'

11885169_1024055210963962_39522457569656

Before Moon Geun Young stars in her October comeback drama "The Village: Acharia's Secret," fans can see her on the big screen in the upcoming historical film "The Throne." It is Moon's first film in over eight years. The 28-year-old actress has not appeared in a film since "Love Me Not."

Her role in "The Throne" is not an easy one. She plays the ill-fated real-life princess Lady Hyegyeong. Although Lady Hyegyeong lived in Changyeong Palace and was married to a prince, her was not a fate anyone would wish for.

She was married to Prince Sado at the tender age of 10 and went to live in the palace under her mother-in-law's supervision. There she watched her husband, played in the film by Yoo Ah In, slowly descend into madness.

Most historians of this period in history say that Prince Sado probably suffered from mental illness as he was accused of randomly killing and raping people. Lady Hyegyeong lived in fear of what the prince might do to her or their child, who survived to later become King Jeongjo of Joseon.

To protect her child, she was forced to make alliances against her husband.
Eventually the prince's father King Yeongjo, played by Song Kang Ho, decided his son was not only unfit to rule but deserved execution. Since the king could not lawfully execute him, he locked the prince in a rice chest on a hot day. After eight days the prince died.

A few historians later said that the story of the prince being mad was just a cover-up. These historicans belive that there was a conspiracy against the prince and his father did not approve of his revolutionary ideas. So they made up a story of madness.

But Lady Hyegyeong recorded the terrifying story of the Prince's madness in a series of journals titled "The Memoirs of Lady Hyegyeong."
It's not the first time that Moon Geun Young has played a character that was based on a real-life historical figure. In her last drama, "Goddess of Fire: Jeonji," she played a character modeled on the real life ceramic artist Baek Pa Sun.

"The Throne" also stars Jin Ji Hee as Princess Hwawan. Seo Ye Hi plays Queen Jeongsun and Kim Hae Sook plays Queen Inwon. The film also stars Park Won Sang and Jeon Hye Jin, with a cameo from So Ji Sub as Lady Hyegyeong's grown son, King Jeongjo.

The film began shooting in July 2014 and premieres in Korea on September 8.
