Tamago86
hm.. so does kibou hoshi mean starry wish? O_o; no..starry wish = kagayaku kibou (輝く希望) hello fellow soompiers~ i need help translating some things...can you help me? onegaishimasu. "his heartache" "her love" "i want to change the past." "you shouldn't hide such a beautiful smile." yeah, a lot of stuff, i know. ^^; i don't know much about the written language...what's the difference between hiragana and katakana? what do people normally write in - hiragana or katakana? is kanji what they're both written in? ^^; his heartache = 彼の心痛 (kare no shintsuu) her love = 彼女の愛情 (kanojo no aijou) this is love as in emotion her love = 彼女の恋人 (kanojo no koibito) this is her love as in a person i want to change the past = 過去を変えたい (kako o kaetai) you shouldn't hide such a beautiful smile = そんなに美しい微笑み隠しちゃだめだよ (sonna ni utsukushii hohoemi kakushicha dame da yo) you can say 'kakushicha dame yo' if you're a girl instead of da yo hiragana is for native japanese words, katakana is for mostly foreign words, names, and some types of sounds. People normally write in all three (katakana hiragana and kanji). Kanji is different from katakana or hiragana altogether. Katakana and hiragana are alphabets which each have around 46 letters, kanji are characters that represent things, and there are thousands and thousands of them but only around 2500-3000 are commonly used. All kanji can be written as hiragana and a few as katakana but not always vice versa (thus children's books and such are usually written in hiragana, while real novels are full of kanji)

Guest orangecake
YoYo! I'm back here again Could someone please translate this for me...? 一番好きなのは蹴球で男の子とやります。 次に好きなのは庭球で女の子とやります。 I don't understand it. Ichiban suki no ha football otoko no ko to yarimasu?? And the other one is something about tennis & girl? What does yarimasu mean? or is it toyarimasu? Thanks alot! やります means ”do”。 と やります means ”do with”。

Tamago86
how do u say "demons be gone" and "surrender" LOLOL . just curious. demons be gone oni dokka ike (鬼どっか行け) or oni usero (鬼失せろ) or if you're doing mamemaki you say fuku wa uchi oni wa soto (福は内、鬼は外) and chuck soybeans at em : D surrender koufuku shiro (降伏しろ) I don't understand it. Ichiban suki no ha football otoko no ko to yarimasu?? And the other one is something about tennis & girl? What does yarimasu mean? or is it toyarimasu? just in case you didn't understand what orangecake or hangbok said yarimasu (yaru) means to do something..like a sport..but it can also mean to kill someone, or to have sex with someone (like in english, "do" someone ), or give something to someone like a kid or a pet.. so if i told you 'my favorite thing is football and doing it with boys' you could interpret that in a few ways in both japanese and english..hehehe.. Guest hikkilurver
こんばんは! 私はしつもんがあります。 1) どこにoriginal まんが の translations を読みに行きますか。 花きみのまんがを読みたいんです。 And... I know Japanese has a bunch of counters, but how would I say something that is not tangible. Say, "I have one question." Would that be "一のしつもんがある。"? だれに私の日本語をなおしてくれてくれませんか。 ありがとうございます~! *:・(*´ー`)
