In class, we we're given various projects. For example, designing book covers, making advertisements, photography, making cd packages, logo designing, etc.

- so i'm not too sure if using the や is appropriate here, or should i use と?　or just not have either and have a slight pause when i say it?

Except for the singer's photograph, I designed everything myself.

dou iu koto (どういうこと） means = what happened

syou iu koto　（しょういうこと） means = it just that way/it just happened that way

and you can not write this in katakana because katakana is only used for for english/american/foreign words

By looking at your signature you asked this because of the smapxsmap with dbsk right? Jaejoong was making a oyaji or pun gag because syou (the word by itself) means soysauce.

on another note, I have a question

when I want to say "when did you buy it?"

can I ask "itsu ga kaimash!ta ka?"

you don't need "ga" after itsu. so just ask いつ買いましたか。　

or, if you're referring to something you saw and noticed and wanna ask when did you buy it, you could also say "sore wa itsu no mono desu ka?"

if you were to tell someone not to touch you, you wouldn't say あたしのことをさわらないでください ... it's not practical. it's like saying "please, refrain from touching me." who says that? you just tell someone not to touch you on impulse =p

No need for the あたし especially, because it makes you sound kind of weak. You don't need a word to identify yourself. And there's no need for こと. Sounds funny to me.

"Arigatou gozaimasu" is more polite than just saying "arigatou". The difference between arigatou gozaimasu and arigatou gozaimash!ta is the connotation. I'm just gonna copy and paste what I looked up: If something has already been done for you, "Arigatou gozaimash!ta （ありがとうございました）" can be used. It is often used by clerks at the store, or an office in the service industry. "Arigatou gozaimasu （ありがとうございます）" is a general way of saying "Thank you". It can be used for either something that will be done or something that has been done. When in doubt, just use "arigatou gozaimasu".

Here's my take on it. I'd use informal language, but this is formal.

And you went from 2 to 4.

1. Gomen~ watashi no nihongo ga amari yokunai desu.

2. (name of school) wo kiita koto ga arimasu ka?

4. ______ wo yomimasu ka?

5. ______ wo kikimasu ka?

6. Dorama wo mimasu ka?

7. Gokyodai ga imasu ka?

8. Doko de tabetara iin desu ka?

9. Doko ni ittara iin desu ka? (Well, it sounds better if you ask, "Ikitai tokoro wa arimasu ka?" It means more like, "Is there somewhere you'd like to go?")

10. Gomen~ amari wakarimasen.

11. Onaka ga suitemasu ka? (I think you should just ask, "Onaka suita?")

12. Photos in Japanese is "shashin".
