I'm not really smart. But I can be if I dedicate to my work. Half the people, are usually driven by parents, or driven by their own goals to do good. Then gradually used to it. But I also know alot of asians who often don't know what they're doing

Btw..I don't think there's a "smart" gene either ^^" Also culture..not as much as well. Because smartness comes from one's way of living, and how they think/effected by others around them if you know what I mean.

P.S - BRAIN SIZE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT EITHER SO STOP DISSING PEOPLE WITH BRAIN SIZE STATEMENTS XD

Strict parents, bottom line. Not to say that there aren't other cultures where good grades are valued. And I also know some not-so-smart Asians. I mean look at me o_O But yea, I don't think that's a good stereotype. It's offensive to not-so-smart Asians and non-Asians who are smart :T

But generally most of us are very hardworking! and plus our parents push and kinda expect from us a certain grade.

Also white,african,mexican,and etc are smart as well:

1. I think its because they study hard

2. They've been taught since what 5?

well, as many have said, not all asians are smart. i know

some who are beyond.. normal. LOL. but in most cases

asians are smart (in a general way) because of the standard

of education in asian countries. i'm from the philippines and

we migrated to US, and the first thing i noticed in the school

i went to, is that their curriculum is really easy compared the

the lessons we were supposed to take in my home country.

then there's also the fact that asian kids, i guess, are being

constantly pushed by their parents to do better. by then they

develop a sense of responsibility, that once their off studying

they actually do it with commitment. well, at least that's based

on my own experience.

Ive always had people say that to me! so now im kinda immuned to it so i dont angry i just ignore it. I just think in my country where apparently its 'MULTICULTURAL' there can are some (well quite a few) really ignorant people out there!

but then again it seems people find it ok to diss on asians but when it comes to other races it seems totally wrong and a big hoohaa is made about it!! double standards i say!!

I was at Cookout with my lil sister and this small middle school kid in front of me turns around and starts saying, "Chow chow" and I just look at him in an odd way and smirk. He then turns back around to talk to his older brother and make his order, then afterwards, looks at me again and says, "Chow, is that hello in chinese?"

I think CHOW, if emphasized in a certain way, means smelly.

Like if you say "Ho chow". I think it means "really smelly"

They happened to me a few weeks ago with the Ching Chong Chow..." crap.

Where these couple of Italian guys were picking on my male friend.

And my other guy friend pushed him and said some CRAZY ITALIAN CURSES that he learned in high school

that included sexual references with those guys' mothers.

They were like BLOWN AWAY.

... I want to see more of that kind of justice happen but it rarely happens ='(

Ugh this stereotype bothers me sometimes because I feel that others around me can't believe that I'm smart on my own.

I know plenty of dumb Asians (they happen to be the ghetto ones).

I fit the stereotype, but I don't know why haha. Maybe it just has something to do with how our parents raise us?

I kinda believe Asians have a bit of a superior complex on the inside. We don't like to lose.

I think that's what got us so far. Just like Caucasians can socialize well and Blacks are great athletics.

Well, yeah. I've seen dumb Asians who are thugs, and nerdy Blacks who are too smart.

We look different because we are different but we're stronger in certain places and weaker

in certain places due to what used to be our habitat. That's what makes us equal too.

Mostly because we're were made to fit in with where we lived.

So yeah... different = equal. I hope this makes sense.
