16 Hot K-Drama Kiss Scenes That Will Have Your Heart Racing

Who doesn’t love a passionate and steamy kiss scene topped with a lot of chemistry? Sometimes these kiss scenes happen later on in the series after the anticipation rises, so they’re that much more satisfying when they happen. A kiss scene is part of the K-drama equation, but there are those kiss scenes that are so hot and heavy that you replay them over and over and over again.

Disclaimer: List focuses on newer K-dramas and is in no particular order.

6. “It’s Okay That’s Love

In “It’s Okay That’s Love,” Jo In Sung stars as the megastar writer Jang Jae Yeol who meets Ji Hae Soo, played by Gong Hyo Jin. They develop a strong distaste for each other, but despite their hate for each other, the two discover that they’re a lot alike, and this becomes a turning point in their relationship. From there stems a beautiful romantic relationship and an intense one. Their relationship is filled with so much hope, angst, despair, and comfort all at the same time, which is probably why their kiss scenes were so memorable.

From "Squid Game" to "My Name"... K-Contents will be popular.

As the Netflix drama "Squid Game" is becoming a hit across the world beyond Korea, interest in so-called "K-content"

such as Korean movies and dramas is heating up. In line with this trend, investment in K-content-related stocks is also increasing in the domestic stock market. There is also a movement to find and invest in stocks related to scheduled works that are expected to become the "second squid game."

NEW, one of the leading K-content stocks, has also risen by about 40% since the 17th of last month when the squid game was released. NEW has another positive factor. Disney+, an OTT that is set to launch in Korea, will unveil "Moving" produced by Studio & New, a content production subsidiary of NEW. Moving is a webtoon-based work by Kang Full, and Jo In-sung, Han Hyo-joo, and Ryu Seung-ryong appear, and the main actor alone is already drawing attention.

Oscars best international feature 2022: all the films submitted so far

Entries for the 2022 Oscar for best international feature are underway, and Screen is profiling each one on this page.

Scroll down for profiles of each Oscar entry

The 94th Academy Awards will take place on March 27, 2022 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This is the first time since 2018 that the ceremony will take place in March, having moved to avoid conflicting with the Winter Olympics.

An international feature film is defined as a feature-length motion picture produced outside the US with a predominantly non-English dialogue track and can include animated and documentary features.

Submitted films must have been released theatrically in their respective countries between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021.

The deadline for submissions to the Academy is November 1, 2021. A shortlist of 15 finalists is scheduled to be announced on December 21, with the final five nominees announced on February 8, 2022.

The 2021 awards saw 93 submissions, with nominations for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Quo Vadis, Aida?, Hong Kong’s Better Days, Romania’s Collective, Tunisia’s The Man Who Sold His Skin and eventual winner Another Round from Denmark.

South Korea: Escape From Mogadishu (Ryoo Seung-wan)

Hoping to carry on the success of the 2020 Oscars, in which Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite became the first Korean film to win an Oscar, is Ryoo Seung-wan’s Escape From Mogadishu. The action drama stars Kim Yoon-seok, Zo In-sung and Huh Joon-ho, and is based on a true story in which the embassies of North and South Korea are forced to cooperate in order to escape the outbreak of war in Somalia’s capital during the 1991 civil war. It has proven a box office success in South Korea, having had to delay its initial release due to Covid-19. Although admissions are still impacted by the pandemic, the feature is the most popular local release so far this year since it opened on July 28, attracting a cumulative audience of 3.1 million. The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) selected the title from a shortlist of six.

‘Escape From Mogadishu’ Review – A Decent Action Film That Doesn’t Hold Back

spacer.png

From South Korean Director, Ryoo Seung-Wan, “Escape From Mogadishu” takes us on a pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat ride based on true events

Synopsis

Dramatically constructed based on a true story: as civil war rages in Mogadishu, rival North and South Korean diplomats are left trapped. With no aid from either government, their only shot at survival may require uniting with bitter adversaries to escape.

You Can’t Have Great Action Without Great Actors

The film itself is rather enjoyable. The large ensemble of a cast is entertaining, emotional and often times hilarious despite the heaviness of the plot. Kim Yoon-seok carries the film to new heights as Ambassador Han Shin-sung, a man who will do everything he can for his country and his family. Yoon-seok’s character is nicely contrasted by his co-star, Joon Ho-hun who plays Rim Yung-su, a diplomat of North Korea. Ambassador Rim commands such a powerful presence when on screen; his stoic posture and stern face truly makes the audience simultaneously respect and fear him.

Kang Dae-Jin, played by the amazing In-Sung Jo, is the true action hero of the film; the man always has this aura of cool around him where ever he goes. Smoking cigarettes, facing down an oppressive police force, and taking down men with his insane martial arts skills has never looked so cool. In-Sung Jo brings some intense action and edge-of-your-seat tension, especially in the third act. Truly my favorite aspect of the movie, In-Sung Jo steals the show.

Box office sales doubled on-year in September

SEOUL, Oct. 22 (Yonhap) -- The movie industry logged a strong showing last month, with audience numbers and revenues soaring thanks to blockbuster titles and Chuseok holidays, data showed Friday.

The Korean Film Council said the number of moviegoers totaled 5.41 million in September, up 81.1 percent from the same month of 2020.

Sales increased 100.6 percent year-on-year to 52.2 billion won (US$44.3 million).

Korean and foreign movies accounted for 49.2 percent and 50.8 percent of ticket sales, respectively.

Domestic films attracted 2.66 million viewers, up 95.8 percent from a year before, and earned 25.5 billion won, a 120.8 percent increase on-year.

Imported movies drew 2.75 million and posted 26.7 billion won in sales, both up 84.5 percent from the same month last year.

Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" topped the September box office with 1.68 million viewers and 17.1 billion won in sales.

It was followed by two Korean titles, "On the Line" and "The Miracle," which were seen by 1.03 million and 490,000, respectively.

Coming next were domestic flicks released before September -- "Escape from Mogadishu" with 460,000 viewers, "Hostage: Missing Celebrity" with 420,000, and "Sinkhole" with 170,000.

The improvement is attributable to a series of blockbuster releases and people's reduced anxiety about COVID-19 compared with last year, according to the Korean Film Council.

The state-funded organization pointed out that the movie industry was devastated in September last year in the wake of the second wave of COVID-19 infections that started the previous month.

Also, Chuseok, or the thanksgiving holiday, in 2020 started on the last day of September, it noted, while this year's holiday came in the middle of the month, contributing to improved ticket sales.

@syntyche it's very COOL indeed.  Tickets for the opening and closing films for this event, which runs until Nov. 2, have sold out. As the festival opened in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, audiences are required to show proof of being fully vaccinated or a negative PCR test at the theater entrance. I heard that 90-percent of the participants are French.   :kaching3:
