Song Seung-hun Dating Chinese Film Star

 

 

Korean star Song Seung-hun is dating China's sweetheart Liu Yifei, Song's agency confirmed Wednesday.

The two met on the set of "The Third Way of Love," a Korean-Chinese co-production set to be released sometime in September.

The news was broken by Chinese entertainment media on Wednesday, who got wind that Song stayed in Liu's summer house and met with her parents.

But Song's agency initially denied the reports.

Song (39) is hugely popular in China. Liu (28) made her debut in a Taiwanese TV series in 2003. She has also appeared in Hollywood movie "The Forbidden Kingdom" in 2008.

Mainland Chinese actress Crystal Liu (劉亦菲) and Korean actor Song Seung Heon announced yesterday that they in a relationship. The two met when filming the romance movie The Third Way of Love <第三種愛情> in 2014, though they did not begin officially dating until recently.

A few days ago, Crystal and Seung Heon were spotted in Beijing, enjoying a late meal with Korean director John H. Lee, who helmed The Third Way of Love. Although Crystal and Seung Heon did not communicate during the meal, they were later photographed getting into the same car and heading to Crystal’s house, where Seung Heon stayed overnight.

The next day, Crystal and her mother were seen at the airport, where they were sending off Crystal’s maternal grandparents. Although Seung Heon was not present, netizens surmised that he had already met Crystal’s parents.

In an official statement, Seung Heon’s representatives stated that he and Crystal shared favorable impressions of one another after collaborating on The Third Way of Love. Though they had few opportunities to meet after filming was completed, they would often contact one another by phone or text message.

The statement went on to say that because their romance is currently in the beginning stages, Seung Heon hopes that they can gain everyone’s blessings. However, he denied having met Crystal’s parents.

When news of the relationship broke, Crystal updated her Sina Weibo with the image of two hearts and thanked fans for their support. Currently 27 years old, she is 11 years younger than Seung Heon.

Seung Heon Previously Hinted at Admiration of Crystal

At the beginning of the year, Seung Heon confessed on a show that he had fallen in love with an actress he had worked with before. He also revealed that the actress was a goddess-type beauty who had both sex appeal and a pure personality. Afterward, netizens immediately guessed that he was talking about Crystal.

In June, Seung Heon insisted on attending the Shanghai International Film Festival, even though many Korean celebrities declined their invitation due to the MERS outbreak. At the time, Seung Heon was seen sharing a meal with Crystal.

Seung Heon also shared that after his close friend, Korean actor Bae Yong Joon, tied the knot earlier this year, he looked so radiantly happy that Seung Heon himself began thinking of getting married. However, he insisted that he and Crystal are not yet at the stage to discuss marriage plans.

Inspired by the wedding of friend and fellow actor Won Bin with actress-model Lee Na-young, actor Song Seung-heon admitted that he is fascinated with the idea of having a secret or overseas ceremony. For the 38-year-old celebrity, tying the knot with "the one" surrounded only by family and friends is highly possible.

 

"I hope to be able to follow in Won Bin and Lee Na-young's footsteps and have a flash marriage," Song reportedly declared.

During a promotional event, Song readily talked about marriage and how he looks forward to being with his lady love every day. Just recently, the Hallyu star confirmed that he is dating Chinese actress Liu Yifei. According to the actor's agency, the couple are in the early stages of the relationship and just getting to know each other.

It's Official: Song Seung Hoon Will Romance Lee Young Ae in 'Saimdang: The Herstory'

 

 

It's official. Song Seung Hoon has confirmed that he will take part in the upcoming historical drama "Saimdang: The Herstory." The actor confirmed his participation around the same time the SBS drama began filming. Production began on August 10 and according to the drama's producers, Group 8 Productions, should be done early in 2016.

It's perhaps not technically accurate to call "Saimdang: The Herstory" a historical drama, because the drama's plot line jumps back and forth between the present and the past. The professor finds the artist's journal and it unlocks hitherto unknown secrets about her life. Shin Saimdang was a famous painter-poet from the Joseon era. She was also the mother of the Confucian scholar Yuk Gok. Shin Saimdang's work was so influential that she is depicted on Korea's 50,000-Won bill.

In the drama, actress Lee Young Ae, 44, will play both the historical figure and a modern-day art professor. Song Seung Hoon, 38, will play her childhood sweetheart and soul mate Lee Gyeom. Lee was a painter calligrapher and musician, so the two had a lot in common.

The title may refer to the idea that the role of women has been underplayed in history, which starts with the word "his." So, in this case, it could be more accurately described as "herstory."

The drama attracted early attention, when it was announced that Lee Young Ae would play Saimdang, as it has been 11 years since she appeared in a drama. Lee won awards for her last drama production "Dae Jang Geum" aka "Jewel in the Palace." "Dae Jang Geum" was the 10^th highest-rated k-drama of all time, with viewer ratings of over 50 percent in Korea. In 2014 Lee Young Ae was offered a part in the"Dae Jang Geum" sequel but declined the role.  

Group 8 said that they planned the drama with Lee Young Ae in mind.

It will also be a small screen comeback for Song Seung Hoon. The actor's last drama was "When A Man Loves" with Shin Se Kyung. Since then he starred in the k-movies "Obsessed" with Lim Ji Yeon, and "Wonderful Nightmare" with Uhm Jung Hwa. He also appeared in the Chinese film "The Third Way of Love." He previously acted a historical drama "Dr. Jin," playing the role of Jin Hyuk." 

Producer Yun Sang Ho, who directed "The Legend" and "Tamna the Island," will direct 'Saimdang: The Herstory." Park Eun Ryung will write the script.

The drama has already been syndicated through Turner Entertainment Company to China, Japan, Thailand and Singapore.

Actor Song Seung Heon confirmed he was dating Chinese actress Liu Yifei earlier this month, and he reportedly recorded an episode Hunan TV variety program ‘Day Day UP’ with her today, to promote their new movie ‘The Third Way of Love.’

Song Seung Heon had wrote in his Sina Weibo account earlier, “I am really happy to be appearing on a variety program together (with her) for the first time!!!!!” as he also shared a photo of himself with Liu Yifei. In the photo, the two are seen posing with victory signs, as they show their mischievous side.

Hi Mari,  I can see he really is! I'm happy to see them together after they announced that they're dating. Actually, their first TV appearance as a couple. This show “Slowly Improving” is also known as “Day Day Up”. They filmed it yesterday.  I heard that the two arrived at the studio separately but it’s said that they later held hands when they went up on to the stage. How sweet - hahaha. I hope we could get the video of this soon. The photos that have been posted online only show the couple on stage together like the one you posted above. Thanks for sharing this here.  I hope we could get to hear from both of them talking a bit about their relationship during the show aside from the movie they're promoting!

I wonder how they can communicate with each other - is SSH knows to speak Chinese? Is he that fluent? I know she knows how to speak English very well. I hope he does, too so, they won't have any communication problem. Besides, Chinese have different culture than Koreans so, this is probably something new to Song Seung Hun. During the recording for the show, which is the couple’s first since announcing their relationship, Song Seung Hun says something to Liu Yifei that he must have heard straight out of a drama. He says, “Honestly, I’m not a greedy person, but when I look at you, I become greedy.”

The two actors, who just recently confirmed their relationship, met on the set of the film “The Third Love,” which is an adaptation of the Chinese novel of the same name.

Actor Song Seung-heon, who recently started dating Liu Yifei, appeared on a Chinese variety program “Slowly Improving” on Hunan TV with Liu Yifei on Wednesday.

During the show, Song said, “I am not a person who wants something so eagerly, but for you I feel that way.”

Song’s romantic confession was captured by one of the fans in the studio and went viral online once uploaded.
