Well, finally, someone at J.Tune Camp speaks out in support of Rain. Earlier in the day @myjanggun, a manager at J.Tune Camp (Shin Dongjun), tweeted this:

“Singer Rain came in 1st place on Times 100 online poll. However, the netizens are making ruthless comments about it.

Rain has been making consistent Asian tours for performances successfully. With the movie Ninja Assassin, in the United States alone, 500,000 people have watched it, and currently over 92,000 copies have been sold.

Not just in Korea, but in foreign countries as well, he is receiving votes, which the netizens are responding to very negatively. All I have to say is whoever these netizens are that Mr. Shin is talking should be ashamed of themselves. Rain fans everywhere, and especially Koreans, should be extremely proud of Rain’s reign over the Time Online Poll.

Not only has Rain appeared on the Time.com online poll 5 times, he has won it twice and was chosen once outright as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people, back in 2006.

The Time.com online poll may be trivial to some, but to us here at Cloud USA, it is giving him some damned good exposure, which is something Rain needs if he’s going to do work here. So, frankly, his U.S. Clouds couldn’t be more delighted for him.

As far as I’m concerned, these netizens are simply bullies trying to pick a fight. And I say it’s time we all ignored them and got back to voting. Shall we?

With moves like this, Susan Boyle didn't have a chance.

He's done it again, and we're not surprised.

Korean pop star Rain has won the top spot in the TIME 100 poll, in which we asked readers to rank who they think are the world's most influential people. By the time the poll closed Thursday night, he had garnered 406,252 "influential" votes and 33,813 "not influential" votes. This is certainly not the first time Rain has taken the top spot; he won in 2006 and 2007, and placed in second in 2008. Coming in a distant second this year was Jay Chou, Taiwanese star of The Green Hornet, getting 207,239 "influential" votes. Rounding out the top three was Britain's Got Talent phenomenon Susan Boyle with 151,324 "influential" votes. The top-ranking American on the list was Beyoncé, coming in fifth.

There were some striking trends further down in the chart as well. Michelle Obama took 30th place with 10,853 "influential" votes, pulling far ahead of President Obama, who took 46th place with 5,543 "influential" votes. Kanye West was voted least influential, taking the bottom spot in the poll. 34,547 votes deemed the musician "not influential." Joining him at the bottom are "tiger mother" Amy Chua and Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.

Taking a disappointing 53rd place was the dynamic duo of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Colbert has had a long-standing tiff with Rain over the top spot on the TIME 100 poll. In 2007, Colbert even recorded his own Korean R&B video in retaliation. The next year, the rivals even had a dance-off. NewsFeed couldn't choose between the two pop stars if we tried.

Korean pop star Rain has hit the big leagues in the TIME 100 poll, in which readers rank who they think are the world’s most influential people.

By the time the poll closed Thursday night, he had garnered 406,252 “influential” votes and 33,813 “not influential” votes. Rain won the top spot in 2006 and 2007, and placed in second in 2008.

Relevant to Washington readers is Michelle Obama, who took 30th place with 10,853 “influential” votes, pulling far ahead of President Obama, who took 46th place with 5,543 “influential” votes. Least influential: Kanye West. Joining him at the bottom is Snooki.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert ranked 53. Colbert has long been competitive with Rain over the top spot in the poll. In 2007, Colbert recorded his own Korean R&B video in retaliation. The next year, they had a dance-off.

Rain, a South Korean actor and singer, has been voted the most influential person in the world in an online poll.

In a poll conducted by TIME magazine, Rain ranked first in the voting for this year's most influential people.

The 2011 TIME 100 poll closed on April 14 with Rain in the lead. Taiwan's Jay Chou and Britain's Susan Boyle took second and third place.

Rain received the highest number of votes out of the 204 candidates with 439,251 people voting for him. Jay Chou, a Taiwanese director-singer-songwriter, received 229,442 votes and Susan Boyle, a Scottish singer, received 167,711 votes.

Rain has been making onto the TIME 100 online list for six straight years since 2006.

Rain has outranked some of the most well-known figures in the world. Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook and The Person of the Year for 2010 selected by TIME magazine, was ranked 28. Michelle Obama, the first lady of the U.S., ranked 32, outpacing Barack Obama, her husband, who was placed 46th. Oprah Winfrey, a famous TV show host, was ranked 84.

In the 2011 Time 100 Poll that has closed officially, as of midnight on 14 April, Rain has been ranked number 1, maintaining dominant position in the list after beating out his rival candidates, Jay Chou, Susan Boyle and so on. He has taken first place in the list of 203 candidates.

The Time will make the candidates go through its own final process of selection, and then will release its 2011 Time 100's final list around May regardless of the result of this vote.

Rain has currently been filming his next movie "Red Muffler".

Rain garnered 406,252 votes in the online poll to rank No. 1 among 203 candidates, Time magazine said on Friday. He also previously placed first in 2006 and 2007, and in 2006 he was shortlisted to the final Time 100 and walked down the red carpet for the ceremony.

Taiwanese actor and singer Jay Chou was the runner-up on the latest list with 207,239 votes, followed by "Britain's Got Talent" sensation Susan Boyle. U.S. pop star Beyonce came in sixth, and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange 11th. U.S. President Barack Obama ranked 46th.

Korean singer Rain topped the 2011 Time 100 Poll in the magazine’s online voting to select the 100 most influential people of the year.

Time closed the online poll on April 16 with Rain as the 2011 readers’ choice among 203 candidates — gaining 444,401 votes.

Rain was also No.1 in the poll and included in the final list of the 100 most influential figures in 2006 and ranked first in 2007 and second in 2008.

Rain was followed by Taiwanese singer and actor Jay Chou with 232,696 votes and British singer Susan Boyle with 170,138 votes.

Time describes Rain saying: “This South Korean sensation has been making waves in his native country for years, but his catchy beats and hot dance moves have made his popularity soar internationally. Who can forget that dance-off with Stephen Colbert, or his parts in the movies Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin?”

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is popular not only as a singer with his trademark powerful dancing, but also as an actor starring in the two Hollywood films.

Beyonce ranked fifth and Barack Obama was placed on 46th.

The magazine will announced the final list combining the online results with other standards on April 21.

Asian superstar Rain has dressed up in full uniform for his new movie.

A photograph Rain posted on his official Twitter account (http://twitter.com/29rain) on Wednesday showed the singer-actor with a serious expression while taking a picture of himself dressed in full air pilot uniform with a comment below saying, "Today is full uniform day...^^It feels like just yesterday we cranked in for the film however, we shot so much!!!!"

Rain has been cast to play the male lead alongside actress Sin Se-gyeong and actors Kim Sung-soo and Lee Jong-suk in "Red Muffler," a remake of the Korean movie of the same name from 1964, which tells the story of life and comradeship of fighter pilots.

He had previously revealed several pictures of himself in his fighter pilot suit standing next to an aircraft and his co-star Lee Jong-suk.

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, has been considered one of biggest stars in Korea and throughout Asia since the start to his solo singing career in 2002. He has also expanded his career into acting, playing several small screen roles such as "Sang Doo! Let's Go to School" and "Full House."

He then made his Hollywood debut in 2008, through the Wachowski Brothers' action pic "Speed Racer" and landed the lead role in martial arts film "Ninja Assassin" a year later.

Every year I tell myself to not vote on TIME poll exact for this reason, but still I end up doing it, whether Rain deserves to be on top or not (now really looking at it objectively, not as a fan). It is great he won, but as you I don't have high hopes that he will really make it to the final list.

Cutie actress, Shin Se Kyung shed her cute image and provocatively posed for newest Singles magazine .

The 21-year-old actress is in production stage of her new movie titled The Red Muffler.

The Red Muffler is remake of director Shin Sang Ok’s ‘The Red Muffler’ (1964). This war movie tells the story of soldiers’ friendship and lives through one guy, who becomes true soldier after joining the Air Force.

Subjected to premiere this year, The Red Muffler starred by Rain who just won The 2011 TIME magazine 100 Poll of the most influential people in the world based on readers’ choice.

bbly, like you, I don't know much about SSK, too - haven't seen any of her works as well. I heard her name because he became the female partner of RAIN in the movie, that's all. The Powers That Be behind Dream High, who incidentally were also the PsTB behind Rain back in the day, before he split from JYPE around 2007/2008, used Rain’s past formula for success—which is actually a well-used Korean entertainment formula of combining singers and TV dramas—for the fledging show. And for all intents and purposes, Dream High flourished because of it and soared in popularity.

Back in February, Mark Russell, one of my favorite Korean culture writers/bloggers (author of Pop Goes Korea; he also worked on the Discovery Channel‘s 2009 Hip Korea Seoul Vibes documentary on Rain) interviewed JYPE president Jimmy Jung for Korean-Content.com about a current problem (how to still be successful making music when younger people no longer buy music) and JYPE’s successful solution to that problem (Dream High). Dreaming of “Dream High”

Jimmy Jung, president of JYP Entertainment, one of Korea’s biggest music companies, had a dilemma – how could his company be successful making music when young people no longer buy music? After all, the Internet killed off physical music sales in Korea years ago, and the rest of the world since then. Endorsements and reality programs can only take you so far. The company needed something bigger.

The result is “Dream High”, a 16-episode music-themed drama created by the unusual team-up of JYP Entertainment (founded by JY Park) and Keyeast, the entertainment company founded by Bae Yong-joon, one of Korea’s most famous actors, known especially for “Winter Sonata” and his pivotal role in popularizing Korean programs around Asia.

The story of ambitious young students at the fictional Kirin Art High School, “Dream High” features several of JYP Entertainment’s biggest stars, a slew of up-and-comers, as well as the creators themselves, Bae Yong-joon and JY Park.

“There were so many negative opinions about the program before it aired,” confessed Jung. “The cast is full of idol singers and band members, many of whom had never acted before. Everybody laughed at this project. But then it started airing and people actually liked it, and its ratings went up and up, and now it is winning its time slot. People have been really surprised.”

Actually, despite people’s preconceptions, combining singers and TV dramas is an old formula, one that JYP Entertainment learned with their megastar Rain. Rain acted in three TV dramas when he was first with the company, most famously “Full House”, the show that became a hit all over Asia and helped propel the young singer to the next level. “Through Rain’s three TV series, I learned how TV is a great promotional tool,” said Jung. “There are so many so-called ‘hallyu’ stars in Korea, but compared to stars who only act, stars who can act and sing and dance have a much stronger position.”

“With Rain, our strategy was to sync the release of his TV show with his album release in each country, then have him travel to the country to appear on showcases and entertainment programs. The basic purpose of ‘Dream High’ is to do that again.”….
