Recently I had the chance to participate in a roundtable with the Korean pop star Rain to discuss his upcoming film Ninja Assassin. During this short time I questioned Rain about the possible remake of Enter the Dragon, which he’s been rumored to star in. While he was tight lipped for the most part, he did reveal that wasn’t attached and that the project isn’t green-lit just yet.

A lot of people think you’re attached to the Enter the Dragon remake, so you’re not signed on?

Rain: No, I haven’t decided yet.

Hi jini, thanks for sharing this. It sounds as if he doesn't like to do the project & I'll go for that- hehehe - I don't think it's an interesting movie for him to do besides, it's a remake. In case he wants to do another movie I hope it's an original made for him this time. Remakes, sequels, part 2s usually don't surpass the original - usually ratings become low & box-office either flops or doesn't turn-out as what expected to be. But, it's really up to him - I will always support him!

Let’s start this journey from where I was walking to Rain’s hotel from the Mixr office around 1pm EST. Almost immediately it started to rain and my first thought was, “how appropriate to interview Rain today.” The commute included passing through Time Square, aka tourist capital of New York City. There was a big crowd of Asian people massing and I was thinking that can’t be because of Rain, he’s suppose to be doing interviews now.

I think I got to Rain’s hotel at about 1:30pm and just expected a reception area with some chairs. I was quite surprised to see the following gourmet spread: http://blog.ningin.com/wp-content/uploads/...ood-400x300.png

Another Warner Bros rep, we’ll call her Susy, updated us that Rain is on his way back and needs to finish his hot dog. That just made me laugh out loud to think that of all the good (but pricey) restaurants in Time Square, Rain settled for a hot dog street vendor. I guess it was Rain after all, stopping traffic on my walk there. It’s funny that I passed him without knowing it.

jini, thanks for this. I enjoyed reading how she interviewed his stylist - wow,. RAIN does all the styling of his hair & dresses by himself - And so cute reading that he ate a street hotdog - hehehe - This man is so down-to-earth after all, despite of his stature.

Ningin has interviewed BoA, the Wonder Girls, Utada, and many other wonderful Asian celebs. This interview with Rain felt bigger than all of those. For me, part of it is because of what we’re interviewing him for, the Ninja Assassin movie – the first big budget Hollywood film with an Asian male lead and a mostly Asian cast. Plus, it’s Rain. There’s no bigger male Asian pop star in the world! I was actually a little nervous but, more excited than anything else.

Heheh...what she translated from his signature is so funny...

I just got back from the event at Giant Robot store.

Rain dressed in black suit with jean, black sun glasses, and his spiked up color hair.

Rain looked really handsome, even the store owner praised Rain.

He appeared for about 30 min, he arrived around 8:45pm.

Everyone got free Ninja Assassin poster and Rain autographed all of them.

There were about 60ish people waiting on line for autographs, I saw many Americans.

Rain left after signing for everyone, it was a short appearance.

Many people were blocking inside the store, it's so hard to take pictures. The store is so small too.

Ninja Assassin star Rain / Bi had a sit down interview with FOX's New York Affiliate show Good Day. The whole interview was conducted in English and despite being nervous in the beginning he did a pretty kickass job.

11.15.09 Rain satisfied with Ninja Assassin

The Asian pop star Rain appeared recently at a hotel in Seoul to promote his second movie, Ninja Assassin. At the news conference he revealed just how hard it was to prepare for his role the world’s most deadly man.

Dressed conservatively in a grey suit, Rain says he was very satisfied after his first viewing of the movie. He’s pleased that he completely liberated himself from the mannerisms of a singer.

The 27 year old Rain worked out strenuously to build up his body for the action thriller in which he plays the world’s most deadly killer. He says it was so harsh that at times he thought of giving up and going back to just singing.

Last year, Rain made his Hollywood debut in the movie Speed Racer. It met with a cool reception from critics and failed to do well at the box office, but the production won praise from Speed Racer’s directors, the Wachowski brothers. Ninja Assassin is the Korean pop star’s debut as the lead in a Hollywood production.

Rain’s Documentary Nominated for Asia TV Awards

A Discovery Channel documentary, “Hip Korea, Seoul Vibes,” starring singer/actor Rain, has been nominated for four categories of the 14th Asia Television Awards. Rain’s agency J-tune Entertainment announced that the documentary on Rain was nominated in the following categories – Best Music Program, Best Infotain! ment Program, Best Direction and Best Cross-platform Content.

The documentary focused on the past and present accomplishments of the Korean superstar, from his difficult childhood to the hardship leading to the meteoric rise in the entertainment industry. It was produced by the same production company that made “Crossings: Jackie Chan.”

The Asia Television Awards is applauded as the Asian version of the Emmys. The awards honor the best TV programs that aired in the region. The ceremony will be held at the ATA 2009 Gala Dinner in Singapore on December 3.
