“Welcome 2 Life” Continues Run As No. 1 Monday-Tuesday Drama

 

 

MBC’s “Welcome 2 Life” starring Rain and Lim Ji Yeon continues its run as the No. 1 Monday-Tuesday drama!

 

According to Nielsen Korea, the drama recorded 3.8 and 4.8 percent viewership on September 2, a 0.4 point increase from the previous week.

 

KBS2’s “I Wanna Hear Your Voice” saw a decrease from the previous week, hitting 2.5 and 2.8 percent in ratings.

 

In cable broadcasting, JTBC’s “Moments of 18” held steady with 3.5 percent viewership, the same as its rating from the previous week. tvN’s “The Great Show,” which premiered last week, recorded 3.0 percent.

"Welcome 2 Life" PD Kim Geun-hong, "Producing a Ground-Wave Drama Is Like Dancing on Blades"

 

 

"Welcome 2 Life" PD Kim Geun-hong spoke about the ground-wave drama crisis theory.

 

The press premiere of the MBC drama "Welcome 2 Life" was held at the MBC M Lounge in Seoul, Mapo on the 2nd. PD Kim Geun-hong as well as actors Rain, Lim Ji-yeon, Kwak Si-yang and Shin Jae-ha were there.

 

PD Kim started talking about the crisis of ground-wave dramas by saying, "The dramas don't live up to viewers' expectations, and second is the danger of the environment. Ground-wave dramas must abide by the broadcasting regulations, so it feels like dancing on blades. The drama is bound to become dull and calm due to prior deliberation and video review".

 

"Viewers watch a lot of reality-filled videos on YouTube and other means of entertainment. We're trying to differentiate ourselves from this", he said. "I think the crisis will change due to changes in the system and the production environment".

 

"We don't have the same conditions as general service channels or cable. We think of it as a transition period and will find a way to overcome it".

The battle for Monday-Tuesday drama viewership ratings remains as close as ever!

 

On September 3, MBC’s “Welcome 2 Life” continued its reign as the most-watched drama of Tuesday night. According to Nielsen Korea, the latest episode of the drama scored average nationwide ratings of 4.0 percent and 4.9 percent for its two parts, marking a slight increase from the night before.

 

JTBC’s “Moments of 18” also saw a rise in its viewership ratings, with its September 3 episode scoring an average rating of 3.808 percent nationwide. Meanwhile, tvN’s “The Great Show” stayed steady with an average rating of 3.0 percent—the same rating that it achieved the night before—and a peak of 3.6 percent for the evening.

 

Finally, KBS 2TV’s “I Wanna Hear Your Song” trailed with average nationwide ratings of 2.4 percent and 2.5 percent for its two parts.

*** On September 2, 2019, another presscon was held for "Welcome 2 Life" - The PD revealed at the press conference that Rain studied so hard for his parts that his script had all fallen apart. He prepared well in advance. If Director Kim wanted to have 3 takes, he will show 3 different ways of his acting. There are more than (80) extras in the drama. He will get them to his waiting room and do the rehearsal with them. He guided and encouraged them and eased-up their nervousness. So when the actual shooting took place everyone was acting very naturally & shooting went very smoothly.
