My thoughts on Goong

I’m no professional so you all can agree or disagree with me. This is solely my opinion, so don’t take anything personal. Even though I had a lot of expectations for the drama and actors …I agree not to have such high hopes and watch it liked I never read the manhwa.

Since it was only the first ep, I knew they weren’t going to show much. Which drama/program shows you right at the start the main plot!!..yeah duh!! I thought it was a great start. And I bet it will even get better when CG moves into the palace. Though, they did take some parts/characters from the manhwa out, I’m satisfied with what they have now, just not sure how everything will turn out?? Questionable yet it will be a surprise?? Don’t we all like surprise!! I'm looking forward to see how this drama develops!

Even more I was pleased with YEH and JJH acting. Hate-Cute ...Later on Love connection.

The settings/sceneries and attires were lovely and beautiful.

I like it how they made it serious when it came down to the royalties (din’t seem to be a joke) MBC is taking this seriously!!

I like CG friends…yeah they get annoying but they make funny

AND Of ‘course you are going to know what happens (if you read the manhwa) why else would it be call GOONG base on the manhwa GOONG…

The only thing I can’t bare to see is Shin’s interest in HR, she’s already beginning to annoy me... I want Shin and CG together…except I know that won’t happen until a few more eps

A kind note to those ppl… no ones forcing to you to watch it…

I agree with etoile. The book is much funnier. I guess when you put it on TV it has to be more realistic. The drama's pace was also too slow, but probably that's because it's the first episode. Ah well, it was still pretty good IMO.

the episode covered less than i expected and it sort of dragged and was not as funny as the manhwa. the acting was okay. none of the scenes challenged much of the character's acting. but this series got one big thing going for it: the scenery and attention to detail. the contrast between the main girl's and shin's households. to be honest, i'm mostly watching the series for the clothes. i've read a lot of manga and encountered loads of heroines and i've got to say that the main girl in the goong manhwa has the nicest, most stylish outfits of them all! eun hye looks wonderful in traditional garb!!

for some reason, i haven't really been anticipating this drama as much as many of you--

but i think that's because i'm the type of person who really wants to know what the storyline is sort of about before i jump into a drama. i have such a weak grasp on the concept of goong -- i have not read the manhwa and the summary on the first post was slightly confusing [i think it's just me ].

so before i take a leap at deciding to watch this...

i was wondering if anybody could help me out with a few questions i had.

-- to my understanding, goong is a story about present-day korea as if it still had a royal monarchy system... correct?

-- YEH's character is a "regular person" until these twists of fate take her to the palace? <-- i'm not sure about this one at all.

-- i know this is a light-hearted drama. is it produced [those who watched episode one] in a "cute" sort of manner?

weird questions? i'm just confused about when goong takes place

lots of people here... hopefully someone can help.

also. i'm having trouble getting to the page of gifs/blinkies linked on the first page... it takes me to a "page cannot be found" deal. does anyone have the page number with these by any chance?

just like books that get made into movies, we can't expect each and every detail to be included, and that's probably the beauty of it =) [think of those who didn't read the manhwa, this drama would be like a whole new dimension for them]

hey can someone explain what kind of character kim jung hoon/yul is suppose to be in this drama?

he is the son of the first son of the king his father was a king before shin's father was crowned. i cant remember how he died but yul's father died so thats why shin is marrying CG it would have been Yul who marry CG if his father still alive because yul would be the next line becoming the king after his father. LOL i confused myself hope you understand it

gosh! i luv the 1st epi. yup, finally shin in motion and he's so cool!

wonder if he's like so restrained too in real life! even in preview clips, he's very controlled and steady.

much unlike his lookalike Lee Ji Hoon who's more outgoing & sporty.

but u notice even their voice & mannerisms are similar!

but imagine going to school everyday with the whole entourage of security

- no wonder he sighs as he gets into the car at the end of the day!

but what thrill for the rest of the school, to have a celeb/idol right at your doorstep to scream at everyday!

CG was hilarious with her singing right? both in the choir and right after the proposal she overheard!

by the way, do you also know or anybody know or can explain the beginning part of the episode 1? they used hard, old korean languages. So I got confused. But from my understanding, the beginning was showing what happened 11 years ago? And at that time, Yul's father was in throne but he was not in a good condition? So Shin's father took the next throne cause Yul's father died? Am i right?

Yul's father was crown prince and Yul was the son of the crown prince which made him 3rd in line for the crown. but too bad yul's after died young and Shin's dad took over as crown prince and shin automatically became crown prince after his dad became KING that. so

when their grandfather made the pact, Yul was still the crown prince to-be and was the one who was supposed to marry ChaeGyung. but now since Shin is the crown prince, shin marries chaegyung instead.

and Later on, when Yul fell in love with Chae Gyung, he feels that everything was supposed to be his, everything include the crown and chae gyung. but mostly because he is instigated by his mother(the bad woman)

i'm surprisingly pleased with this drama. Since i'm pretty much obsessed w/ my girl these days, i thought i would have no interest in Goong, but i really do like it. And Yoon eunhye's acting is pretty good. So far, it really seems like such a fairy tale. I think i'm getting into it...

anyone reccomend reading the comic series? I looked it up online and i never realized it was 10 books long! But i'm tempted... I've never read korean manhwas before. Can anyone tell me if its worth reading and about how much each books costs (USD)??

in my opinion i think that you should finish the drama first since a lot of people who had read the manhwa before the drama they kinda disappointed a little bit. i guess thats the bad part for reading it before watching it. cuz then you know wats going to happen. just my opinion nonetheless i luv the drama so far!
