Today,I watch a JJM's interview by sohu again, and I come to realize that he is really really like love stories. He said in that interview,he likes to challenge different types of love story...So I think he chose MLE for that reason. If you haven't see the interview, here you go

@chinalily_wang Yes in that interview he said he likes love story. I've discovered this thing from the beginning I knew JJM. In another one he also said he likes love movie more than horror movies and science fiction.
