I did FF through a couple of scenes in ep 5 or 6; the ones with the sister, so I didn't enjoy these two episodes as much as the previous episodes.  But that being said, I still enjoy this drama.

    ******

Man, I can't believe CEO Shin blames Dong jin for the death of his wife.  Who else was cheering when Woo Joo held Dong jin's hand in front of his ex?!

Hye-Seong track with the young guy is boring, waiting for the track with Yoon-Jun. I feel it will be funny as well as poignant.

Dong-Jin looks like a hapless guy, but he is empathetic, and people take him for granted.  That's why all blame him for anything wrong in their life.

That hand-holding scene was great, I rewinded and watched it again.

That scene from outside showing two windows where Woo-Joo and Min-Yeong standing at each window and then Dong-Jin going towards Min-Yeong and telling her to politely f-off and returning to Woo-Joo to hold her hand was so heartfelt and sincere.

Also, Dong-Jin looks helpless and despondent, but he is not. He is aware of himself, what he wants, what's happening around it, it's just that it doesn't interest him, cuz he is fed up. The scene where Woo-Joo saves him from the accident and she tries to hit him shrilling that he scared her, you would expect Dong-Jin to take the hit. But he does not, holds her hand, and tells her he has no plans to die. I found that profound. This show is different in so many little ways making it even more interesting.

  2. I know you all don't think Heung Shik is the killer for various valid reasons. I have my own reason for not suspecting him. He is feeding Royal Canin Mother & Baby Cat food (Royal Canin is not sponsoring this drama, right?) which is quite expensive compared to other cat foods. :D I don't think a killer would spend that much on stray cats (especially considering that he is killing cats). I think Heung Sik loves cats and wants to feed them but someone else is adding pesticide to the food.

Yeong Sim supposedly had the same burns as Yong Shik. I'm assuming Yeong Sim is actually a grandma, so what if it is her adult son or grandson who is adding pesticides to the cat food?

I really feel bad for Hyang Mi. Though she had a despicable character, her flashback says why she turned up this way. Considering most serial killers are usually bullied, neglected, abandoned, or abused in childhood, she seems to be wanting to lead a respectful life but desperate financial need calls for desperate measures (though that's the reason I suspected her to be the killer).

Could it be that Hyang Mi was actually killed by the pimp rather than the Joker?

@Isache Yeah, it could be him. Serial killers usually want others to fear and respect them as they are dominated and suppressed by others at home. In Ongsan, it's the women who rule and he seems to be a hen-pecked husband.

OH MY GOD! WHAT IF THE JOKER IS LURING ALL THE CATS WITH THE CAT FOOD SO HE CAN KILL THEM BECAUSE HE'S ALLERGIC TO IT! THAT'S WHY THE JOKER ISN'T COUGHING NOW BECAUSE THERE ARE NO CATS IN ONGSAN!!! (Cut to Strangers from Hell spinoff)

No No Noooooo.... As an owner of three cats, and someone who respects both human and animal lives, I demand death penalty for the killer not matter who he/she is..... :angry::angry:

Besides being part of the dog paternity case, Yeong-sim had a chili field burn down in the past and now has some question about a garlic field.  ARSON ALERT

As to the cat food and no cats, the food could be poisoned.  ANIMAL ABUSE ALERT

When the sign fell from the building, it revealed that there was formerly an Academy there.  CHODING MURDER ALERT

Everyone looks suspicious, but the killer has already killed five other people, including a 6th-grader.  Which of the suspects would kill all these people?

Young Sik did tell three signs of a serial killer that includes arson and animal abuse as well. The third sign is bed-wetting but there is no way of knowing who wets their bed unless the killer's mother decides to turn into a witness...

Yeong Sim does seem to be the key to this mystery.

Could be! Or those who loved cats and scolded the killer for harming cats...:o Again I repeat, maximum punishment for the killer..

On a lighter note, I'm happy that I work from home and not a social person :D

  4. @lu09 After watching the latest episode, I'm sure Dong Baek's mum is not suffering from dementia. In fact with all her advice and actions, looks like she was in prison or worked for a detective agency...:D

I really liked that Young Sik told Dong Baek to decide what she wants to do without imposing his opinion. I get that he is pretty tenacious about his feelings, but he does not force her like her landlord. In Dong Baek's case, just expressing feelings doesn't work. She does not trust people generally. So, Young Sik being insistent with his feelings is what made Dong Baek to reciprocate.

That's where Jong Ryeol failed. He may be thinking good for his son and Dong Baek, but forcing her to listen to him was not right especially since he was not even a part of their life until now. Happens in real life as well where people with good intentions try to force their thinking, decisions, and opinions on you. Unless its a child or someone who cannot take rational decisions, it is better if people are allowed to decide on their own.

Where Jong Ryeol succeeded was in being firm with Hyang Mi. She thinks she can do anything and people will obey her. Good for her to know that it is not the case with everyone. I just hope Jong Ryeol stands firm till the end without giving in. But, what is preventing him from not disclosing this blackmail to Dong Baek? For that matter, even that landlord, he knows he is in a fix. He knows his wife knows that he is kind of having an affair. If he actually  tells his wife, she will legally stir-fry Hyang Mi and he can escape the blackmail. However, he is a coward and cannot expect much from him unless he gets frustrated enough to kill Hyang Mi.

BTW, I thought that the waitress at the restaurant was Hyang Mi. Is that right? No time to rewatch the episode.

  5. Something felt off in that episode where Dong Baek ends up being the witness to the murder. I watched it again and idk why I feel that the killer's cough resembled a woman's cough rather than a man's. Hyang Mi is in desperate need of money and someone is after her for it. What if it is her and that guy who are this killing duo? Though Hyang Mi seems not smart enough to be a killer, wasn't Dong Baek warned by her mum that she should not trust anyone, especially those close to her already? The only person who has close access to Dong Baek is HM who also needs money, who is upset that good guys don't approach her, and who may dislike that Jong Ryeol (rich guy but not interested in Hyang Mi) and Yong Sik (not interested in Hyang Mi) like Dong Baek. Someone who can blackmail without remorse can also kill or aid a killer....

    My opinion:

1: Hyang Mi is the killer or aide to the killer. The dead body is of Hyang Mi. Either she was killed by her partner or someone from the good gang in self-defence.

    2. Dong Baek's mum wrote that on the wall to scare Dong Baek away from Ongsan because it looked like she was suspecting Hyang Mi. Why has a dementia patient gone away on some work? If she is really suffering from dementia, she won't remember anything including whatever urgent work she had. Looks like her mum entering Dong Baek's life has made the killer anxious as he/she may not have the usual close access to her.

  6. Hullo friends,

I'm sorry that I'm late to this epic fest. I had to choose between MAMA and this..... and I chose MAMA for BTS. (It was worth it, though:D)

Will be back after watching the episode. It sure looks like the pilot episode was really good based on all your comments. Just hoping that this show will continue the same until the end....( I still have not yet recovered from Moon Lovers though I do love that drama :tears:)

    See you all soon.

  7. This show is the bane of my life.:o All I do nowadays is read the live update on Monday, then read the comments, then download the episode, watch it, again come here to read the updated comments, read the recap of the episode, go through all the analysis explained here, read through actual Korean history, read all the symbolic explanations posted here, laugh seeing all the gifs, watch BTS videos of this show, see all the zillions pics posted here, read through the comments in the recaps, google the cast to see their previous work, read the possible predictions posted by members, try the various hairstyles of Prince Yo, try to rock eyeliner like him (but failed miserably as i resembled a scary raccoon instead:tears:), go through patterns of hanboks to see whether I can stitch one for myself, again watch the episodes to see if I missed anything, back read all the comments here that I missed in past 30 minutes and hey...... by then its Monday.... Time for a new episode! :sweatingbullets::w00t::huh:

My life is just lost somewhere where I can't find it. But with all the history that I know of Goryeo, I'm sure I can survive there just in case I time travel during the next eclipse.

Also, I have a list of shows that I want to watch later this year but if I really want to succeed in life, then I have to not log in to Soompi for a while....:D

  8. @Hanazumi This is the first show that I have watched of  Hong Jong Hyun and I really like him. Going to google him and watch his other shows :D

@enigmatic_zephy I feel the same as you. The editing and being constricted to 20 episodes is what is bad about MLSHR. If they show all they have shot in 26-30 episodes, I'm pretty sure this is will be one amazing drama.

  9. @qwenli 100% true. When Yo gave the ring to YH, I thought that Yo is a better man than Wook. Wook is only sound and no performance. I can't believe that Yo can teach Wook on what it really means to like someone and try to get them.

@valsava Yes. I would have respected Wook a little bit if only he admitted that he is jealous of So and faced him like a man rather than all this manipulation. Also in front of General and So, Wook was mum but let Yo speak and then went charging at So as if So was causing the rebellion. I'm pretty sure Wook will tell CP that he was suspecting So of siding with his brother Yo and that is why Wook was fighting with So. Manipulative coward!

I know the show has taken creative license, but I also know history is history which means Yo is the next king. I would love if Yo (Lion King) and So ( Dragon Toothless) get together and exile Wook away forever. (Queen Sssssssssssssssssnake should be proud of raising a lion and a dragon:P)

  10. Episode 11 is really awesome!

I honestly have to appreciate YH for her quick thinking. She is concerned about Wang So, but at the same time knows the consequences of taking any wrong step by being emotional. Her method of saving Wang So and herself is brilliant. She indeed is fit to be a queen for that period. If you ask me, the right person for King Gwangjong! :D

Another fact I loved in this episode is that everyone who cares about Soo did try to do something. The crown prince requested the king. Wang So pleaded with the king. Wang Jung wanted to do something rather than sitting quietly in the library. Chae Ryung pleaded with the Wang Wook to save Hae Soo. Whatever they could do in their capacity they did except Wook. True that Wook requested Lady Oh to plead with the king but he is more capable than that. When he asked Lady Oh whether she is planning to ignore this matter until it’s over and allow Hae Soo to die, I thought instead he should be asked this question by everyone else. What Lady Oh told is true, if he really loved Hae Soo , he should stand up for her. The crown prince was ready to give up his position because he did not want an innocent person to die because of him. And Wook who loves and wants to marry Hae Soo should have at least tried to do something for Hae Soo. The irony in that conversation between Wang Wook and Lady Oh is that Wook seemed to be the one caring for Soo whereas Lady Oh just seemed to be reprimanding him. In the end, she was the one to do something to save Soo whereas Wook just walked away. True love is always courageous because you put someone else’s interest ahead of yours. If Wook really loved his family and position more then he should not have promised Hae Soo of his undying love.

PS: The rain scene was really great but I felt it was a bit funny seeing Wang So with that cape. He reminded me of Toothless from “How to train your dragon” movie. Hey come on, Wang So is totally a Night Fury!  Right?

  11. Re Wook, since his character has been shown as really good and loving until now, could have still chosen his family without being that cruel. He anyway was within Hae Soo’s sight, he could have walked up to her and said that “I’m sorry; I have to side with my family as I don’t have a choice.” Then the 21st century Hae Soo and we could have understood him and sympathized to an extent. But giving an impression to someone in need that he will fulfill that need and then abruptly walking away is indeed cruel. Though I love the actor, if I find Wook crying and bawling Hae Sooooooooyaaaah again, I’m gonna wish that Wang Yo drives an arrow through his eyes!

  12. Hi all, I just thought of something. Not sure whether someone has already mentioned as this thread is too fast and my internet is too slow for me to catch up with you all.

Do you remember that when Wook was teaching Soo how to write, he mentioned about a plant called Amur Adonis which is a medicinal plant with many benefits but also quite poisonous? Maybe the poison is a concentrate of a medicinal herb that when ingested is poisonous which is why it failed the "silver test" as it is a herb in natural form.....

Now back to "trying to read all comments here before the rush starts again" :D

  13. Hullo friends,

After watching the first 4 episodes again, I've realized that this show is really good. Based on the (positive and negative) comments, I just focused on main scenes but after watching it again, the rest of the story is also beautifully done. The visuals are really good. And I like IU in this role. In certain scenes such as while thanking W So for saving her from a beating and admiring W Jung's oath to protect her in the bamboo forest, she has emoted well. It is a delight to see her various expressions. It feels like if only the editing was proper, then each transition would have been smooth. Otherwise it's really good.

After reading comments about marrying half siblings, I've realized that not many love history. Being a history bluff, I was like "Meh, I've read that, I know that." It is history, it cannot be changed. :phew:

As I was watching the episodes I went

W So: Wow! That's a great intro. Solar Eclipse! Horse Riding! Handsome Man What's not there to like? :w00t:

    W Wook : So pretty! I like him. ;)

W So: He's the man! The Hero! I like him. He is daebak!

W Wook : Awww so pretty! So cute! What eyes!:sweatingbullets:

W So :Nah, he is the man. Awesome acting! Awesome fighting skills. I am going to ship him and Soo. :w00t:

W Wook : So so so pretty! :D

W So: When will the mask come off? When can I see his full handsome face? B)

At the end of episodes -  What the hell am I doing? On whose side am I?

  14. Hi dear friends,

This forum is sure a fun place. Apparently the threads in this forum is the deciding factor as to what shows I watch. I had no interest in ML until I read all your comments. Also the negative comments on other sites did pique my curiosity enough to watch this show and I'm glad I did. I like this story despite the various flaws. So and Soo names are seriously so funny, at first when I read your comments I didn't know who was who. Took me sometime to differentiate between the 2. Anyway I suppose I'll have much fun as this show goes on by reading your comments and explanations.

PS: Queen SMS is a great name. (Who names someone with all letters in the alphabet? or in this case, with all the syllables possible?) :sweatingbullets:

Q: Where there dining chairs in the Goryeo period? Other saeguks that I have watched have these low stools as seating aids whereas during the dinner scene with Wook, his wife and Soo,they were sitting on chairs made of bamboo just like our times. So does the furniture match the period?

  15. Hi Awesome People,

I just finished the latest 2 episodes and really loved it. I like the fact that HJ decided to support JH rather than asking him to change. In the process, he voluntarily will change and include her fully in his life. The same applies to JH as well. This is character growth which is quite essential in real life too. Also I see that HJ is becoming more feminine which is good for her. It's time she enjoys being a woman pampered by her man. I love her badass gangster attitude, but for once let her enjoy the perks of being loved and protected by someone else. :wub:After all its the greatest feeling possible in this world. Anyway as per the story, HJ and JH both may have show some badass attitude later to others.

Regarding YD and SW, the easiest way to get YD is for SW to immerse herself in her work and be a confident, independent woman. YD fell for HJ because HJ is that kind of woman. Another ace up in SW's sleeve is her long time (relationship) with YD. So if SW decides to build up her life and work, eventually YD is going to come to her. "Go SW, go be JH's assistant in his surgeries and learn from him. Become an expert at your work just like JH. YD will eventually respect you.":D

PS: Do you all even sleep?:o I see it's almost 61 pages since my last comment. I marvel at your energy and zeal for the show.

  16. Hi all, I have to say that for a long time I was happy just reading through this forum without logging in and commenting (forgot my password), but this is the most happening place on Soompi... I changed the password just to tell you all that you are great. The comments, analysis, gifs, human anatomy discussions, theories, ideas, explanations, debates, questions, answers and major fangirling is just awesome. I love this drama because I feel unlike many dramas I watched, Doctors is more mature and human. And you great people really make it more interesting. Please continue to make this more interesting and exciting. Thank you all. :D

    BTW KRW rocks!

    PS: The C-Strips are daebak!:D
