I read somewhere about ep 9 text preview that Sunmi transferred the ownership of GGG because she was blinded by the offer from demon that trapped soul into fairytale that she could feel to live as a normal person. So she gave up GGG and went inside the book.

I think, that preview pic of her in wedding dress, it was her living her normal life. having friends, family, dating, and getting married. The dress looks vintage because it is inside fairytale book. Then I think, somehow, Ohgong has a way to go inside the book and appear in Sunmi's illusion. So, she got confused because if she is living a normal life, she won't meet Ohgong.

This is the episode 9 text preview, all credit goes to the awesome @V

OG and SM – Seon Mi believes that their relationship is fate. Now Oh Gong knows that Seon Mi wants to have the life of a normal person. Oh Gong is in deep agony when he looks at SM because her fate changed as a punishment for releasing him (when she was little).

Meanwhile, a new bookseller monster appears who takes kids souls and locks them in fairytale books. This monster approaches Han Joo’s (SM’s secretary) neighborhood kids. To stop this monster, SM is toe-to-toe with this monster, alone. This monster tells SM that she will take away her special ability that made her childhood miserable. Seon Mi is bewildered and gives away Geum Gang Go’s power.

  2. I’m officially dead and on my way to shipper’s heaven!

This is the first time in a Hong Sisters drama when I feel that the main lead just might pin the heroine to the wall or throw her down on the floor and have her way with her. Unlike all their other male leads, Oh Gong has in him this hint of something deeply feral and wild and an air of unpredictability which makes it seem he might devour Seon Mi at any given moment.

    C114mwV.jpg

“And don’t leave me behind. Don’t leave me behind to go to another man. If you do it one more time I might actually die. Don’t get angry at me or hate me. I’m saying that it really hurts me.”

HE LOVES HER! TRULY, DEEPLY! That’s Oh Gong’s love confession and the declaration of his feelings for Seon Mi and like everything he says to her it’s honest, raw and passionate; only truth and honesty. It’s COMPLETE ACCEPTANCE OF EVERYTHING HE FEELS FOR HER AND THE SHEER SINCERITY IS SHINING FROM HIS EYES. AND THAT SMILE! It’s also his plea to accept his heart and protect it because he is surrendering it to her.

    9yTTanD.jpg

“Now that I think about it, you’re the only thing in this world that can kill me. Because if you tell me to die, I’ll die.”

Because in that moment, in that split second when he was contemplating killing her, he realized that she holds complete power over him, not because of the GGG, BUT BECAUSE SHE IS EVERYTHING HE EVER WANTED AND HE WOULD GO TO HELL AND BACK TO PROTECT HER.

Notice how OG goes after the demon not to protect SM’s physical wellbeing but to protect HJ, a measly human, he wouldn’t even look twice at, but because he is someone SM cares about and if he got hurt she would be sad and it would have hurt her emotionally - OG goes to defeat the demon IN ORDER TO PROTECT HER HEART.

  3. I’m the type of sadomasochistic person who loves when her OTP hurts each other like this. These types of arguments really move the relationship to the next level and the fact that they are able to hurt and shake each other to the core is because they care; and the more they care the more they hurt. It’s also healthy because if your relationship and love can’t survive and withstand few arguments, disagreements and misunderstandings how can they survive the end of the world or last a life time, let alone an eternity?

When Son Oh Gong tells Seon Mi that he threw away the seasoning, it’s his way of apologizing to her, admiting he messed up and asking for forgiveness, but SM’s hurt much deeper than he realizes because for her this is about what how he really feels about her. She is lashing out just as OG so often does. He wants so desperately that she leaves Jonathan behind and chooses to be with him, that he is pretty much begging her to come with him.

    RxOnYFC.jpg

“I don’t want to. Why should I? How much will you give me?”

This one really hurts Son Oh Gon; you can literally see him being taken aback and physically hurt by those words to the extent that he even takes a step back away from her. It’s also my favourite burn because SM is paying OG back with his own words and it’s his catch phrase which he so often tells her - she’s treating him the same way he treated her - she is giving him the taste of his own medicine.

People often complain about how OG is treating SM badly and about him being a richard simmons to her, but I don’t think so - I think at this point he simply lashes out when he is hurt like normal people do and it works because SM isn’t just standing there taking his richard simmons but fights him tooth and nail and gives him the same treatment - they are equals in their arguments, he doesn’t have the higher ground. And whenever they argue or they hurt each other, they make up and apologize in their own way I find it’s a realistic depiction of normal relationship.

    8tWgh0w.jpg

Finally, in their arguments, there is truth on both sides - OG had treated SM’s badly in her office and bullied her friend, so she is rightfully angry, on the other hand, OG wants to make things rights and he genuinely thinks she is angry because she thinks he still wants eat her, so he is there to tell her she doesn’t need to worry about that because he threw away the seasoning=he won’t ever eat her, but she isn’t honest with him about the real reason why she is angry. Oh what a tangled web we weave…

Okay, her dress is soooooo old fashioned, so I agree with everyone who thinks she must be trapped in something. Maybe one of the fairytale books? Weddings and fairytales pretty much go hand in hand (at least the old ones).

It's definitely a possibility; it can be a dream, a fantasy, an illusion,... The article which described the photos said it was 1980s style. However, there is also a possibility that it's a throwback to SHK's Dior wedding dress (in October) which had a similar vintage style because her wedding with SJK was the wedding of the year and ever since this style has become very popular in SK.

  5. Awwww, so he told her to go home quickly because he’s waiting for her there like the eager puppy he is!

Son Oh Gong wants Seon Mi to admit that she likes kissing him, that she cares about him, that he affects her as much as she affects him, that she likes him; it’s as if he was asking her to tell him that this isn’t a one-sided thing and he isn’t alone in this love, that he isn’t a fool in love with a girl who doesn’t like him back; but she denies it and as he is his m.o., OG lashes out and tells her he wants to eat her. It’s the only way he knows how to hurt her and as always he only hurts himself in the process because it only makes the matters worse and OG realizes that he has hurt Seon Mi and richard simmons all up yet again. At least he actually has enough conscience and perception to realize that he screwed up big time. You can literally spot the exact moment when it dawns at him and he gets angry not at her but at himself because LSG is so awesome portraying every facet of Oh Gon’s personality and emotional state.

    INW02LC.jpg

“I’m a demon and once you take off the Geumganggo you’re my prey. In the sense that I can’T forget my true identity, I have no intention of throwing it away.”

And then he goes and burns it all. One of the things I like about Oh Gong is that he never pretends with Seon Mi or lies to her and when she calls his act out he always fesses up immediately, without beating around the bush.

    zozy6lk.jpg

It’s really a learning curve for him - learning and realizing what is good and what is not and when Oh Gong sees that he screwed up, he immediatelly jumps into action and tries to make amends and make it alright. He never stays stubborn and in denial that that it wasn’t his fault which is one of the reasons that make Oh Gong so likeable and attractive despite his flaws - he might be deeply flawed and makes mistakes but he always tries to make it up to SM for what he did and he really grows before your eyes as a character and a person.

  6. It’s really hard not to notice all these mentions and themes of fairy tales, fairies, princes, monsters,… and it’s only apt because they are an integral part of the world Seon Mi lives in and sees with her eyes; all the things and beings other people are blind to. However, unlike the worlds in the human fairy tales, in this world not all monsters and demons are pure evil and they are capable of greater, purer and deeper love than most humans - a love that lasts forever.

    FaRnXxU.jpg

“The Fairy gets lost when she meets the Prince.”

One of the reasons why I dig the fairy tale comparison so much is because Seon Mi herself doesn’t see her life as one, but rather as a horror but that doesn’t necessary means that she dislikes it. And it’s only fitting because SHE DIDN’T FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PRINCE, SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE MONSTER, THE BEAST. And she is happy about it, even though it’s dangerous. Son Oh Gong can never be the perfect, safe lover most women dream about - HE ISN’T PERFECT BUT HE IS THE LOVER SHE CHOSE.

The prince would be the prudent, sensible choice - he’s nice and rich - but it makes so much sense that after spending her whole life surrounded by demons and ghosts, interacting with them and even befriending them, Seon Mi would chose as her lover a monster. Although she desires family and friends and a lover, she doesn’t really care for the mundane and normal. SM might say that she would date humans if there were any men who would like her and accept her strangeness but here is such a man, who basically worshippa the very ground she walks on and finds her strangeness awesome and inspirational to the point where he wants to shoot a blockbuster movie about it, AND SHE BARELY SPARES HIM A GLANCE AND ONLY THINKS HOW SHE CAN GET AS FAST AS POSSIBLE TO THE DEMON. She is even more comfortable interacting and befriending the supernatural beings more than humans. It’s interesting, really, because we talk about how Oh Gong and Seon Mi are from two completely different world with him being immortal and her mortal; however, the truth is SEON MI IS PART OF BOTH WOLRDS SO IT’S HER CHOICE WHERE SHE WANTS TO BELONG. And besides, which prince could compare to the SUPER HOT MONKEY KING ANYWAY?!

    ECA5ny2.jpg

“My fairy has a nasty temper,…”

Seon Mi has referred to Oh Gong as HERS on multiple occasions - my Oh Gong, My Fairy - it’s so funny because she keeps calling him like that only to vehemently protest that he definitely is NOT HER BOYFRIEND. The girl is clearly in huge denial.

  7. One of the main objectives of that kiss is to observe the different reaction of the OTP to it, as compared to the first kiss. Previously, there were no happy, satisfied smiles, no eagerness to see each other, no replaying of the kiss,… It shows how much their mutual feelings have developed over these few weeks.

    DAdzNrB.jpg

The main difference, of course, is that their HEARTS WERE NOT INVOLVED ALL THOSE WEEKS AGO IN THE MEADOW, NOW THEY ARE. Now, both Oh Gong and Seon Mi are deeply affected by the physical intimacy no matter how much they try to persuade the other that they are not.

    UUMaEkW.jpg

And if anyone still needs another proof that the GGG has nothing to do with Oh Gong falling in love with SM and kissing her, then this might be the final one - the bracelet was active already after their first kiss but OG wasn’t replaying the kiss nor was he affected in any apparent emotional way, now he is.

  8. Oh Gong’s and Seon Mi’s second kiss is an echo of their first kiss; there is a visual parallel between them. A suprise kiss. However, the circumstances and motivations are completely different and it’s these differences that truly matter. The objective of the first kiss was to achieve a goal - to activate the GGG - if they wanted to get out of the picture, SM had to kiss Oh Gong and she had very little choice in the matter. However, now it’s Son Oh Gong who kisses her and not because he has to or because the bracelet is making him to but because kissing SM is something he’s secretly wanted to do, even if he didn’t admit it to himself. He’s been seeking SM’s physical closeness for some time now but with this kiss he is taking their physical intimacy to the next level and Jonathan’s intimacy with SM was the final trigger.

    Kvf88PN.png

There is no doubt that OG kisses SM because he wants, though he is also motivated by jealousy, no doubt, which is a legit reason. Being jealous means that you are afraid to lose something that you considers yours; so it’s only fitting that Oh Gong’s fear to be left behind by SM, his fear of losing, manifests itself as jealousy. The fact that he didn’t only kissed but also embraced her shows he wants to be physically close to her in every way possible.

    xVsWbLM.png

Finally, it’s also about one-upping Jonathan, his love rival, who held SM’s hand and then hugged her; therefore Oh Gong does the same - holds her hand and embraces her - and one-upping him by kissing her. It’s the result of his emotional reaction to Jonathan’s arrival - panic, anger, fear, jealousy,… - and the fact that he is a proud deity, a force of nature, and foremost, A PREDATOR, therefore his possessive, animalistic and instinctive reaction makes so much sense. In his world, among his equals, it would be only natural to fight a battle for the woman he loves, and I like Jonathan well enough that I don’t want to see him shredded to pieces or burned to crisp. Once again, Oh Gong’s kiss isn’t a result of the bracelet’s power because GGG makes its bearer blissfully obedient but physical and emotional possessive  and physical desire are not part of the deal.

  9. THAT look on Son Oh Gong’s face when Ma Wang reminds him of Seon Mi as the little girl with an umbrella who saved him all those years ago; it’s as if he returned for a second in his memories to that time.

    fWGXtDq.jpg

Karma really is a richard simmons because when Oh Gong broke their contract and decided not to protect SM as he promised, he unwittingly caused that SM met with Jonathan (because Jonathan mentioned that ever since he met SM she’s been mentioning the Fairy, so their must have met only after SM’s encounter with the Monkey King). Therefore Oh Gong basically created his own love rival; if he had watched over SM, this would have never happened. He is the cause of his own pain and jealousy.

    fenc332.jpg

“What o do from now… is all your fault.”

He still need these ridiculous excuses to justify how much he likes Seon Mi, doesn’t he?

  10. You know, it’s become increasingly difficult for me not to begin each post featuring a swoonworthy romantic moment between these two with - OMG, OMFG, SWOON, SQUEAL, FETCH MY SMELLING SALTS,… - because that’s always my initial reaction to these scenes, and only after some time intelligible and coherent thoughts return.

    0cYDVO1.jpg

Son Oh Gong finally gets the opportunity to fake-break Heaven’s alcohol ban and chooses to drink whiskey only to give it up for Seon Mi because he wants her to be happy; as if he loved her enough to be capable of being unselfish. It’s a seemingly little gesture but it shows that his devotion to Seon Mi is at a level where he puts her and her happiness before himself, before his own selfishness; that her happiness and safety is his priority and concern even before his own needs and personal desires.

    68tUo1r.jpg

And once again Oh Gong doesn’t even tell SM he did it, he doesn’t hunt for praise or try to score points - the fact that he can give her a moment of happiness and what she desires so much is enough for him. There is something a little tragic and heartbreaking about the sight of him sitting alone in his personal sanctuary that tugs at your heartstrings.

  11. He deliberately aims for the whiskey (and, you know, he does because OG is capable of burning down worlds and can do virtually everything) not only because Seon Mi chose it but because it represents her.

    XsA5vJN.jpg

One of Oh Gong’s character traits has been his bipolarity regarding his feelings towards Seon Mi - I want to eat you, I want your phone number; I want to kill you, I want to protect you; I want you to disappear, I can’t bear if you disappeared,… His previous indecisiveness about the choice of alcohol represented this bipolarity; and though, it may be subtle Son Oh Gong has made his choice now. HE CHOOSES WHISKEY - HE CHOOSES SEON MI. And how blissfully happy he is about it! His previous “I want to eat you” has now become “I want you” and “I want you to love me”, even if he doesn’t say it out loud.

    Hdcm4Fz.jpg

  12. “I couldn’t leave you to disappear. Before that, my heart will break into pieces. So you are not going to die. Unless I do.”

Does he even realize what he is saying? All the implications his words has? Because he is basically telling Seon Mi that she will only die in a world in which he doesn’t exist anymore and won’t be able to protect her. That he won’t allow her to die as long he lives or he will die trying. And even without the GGG, if she were to die his heart would shatter anyway and he would probably follow her to death; and like Opheus his Eurydice he’d to try save her from the underworld.

    3jwIpoW.jpg

    “I told you, didn’t I? You can’t die until I die.”

Oh Gong repeats it so often, as if her dying can’t even be an option because her death would kill him. And it makes sense because her death might be the worst thing to happen to him because if death is the one thing Son Oh Gong can’t defeat what can be more terrible for someone so powerful to become utterly powerless to protect the person he cares and loves the most in the world? What is there left to live for in a world without Seon Mi?

    5AO23yZ.jpg

OG wants so desperately to believe SM’s words that he wants to make another contract with her! My poot heart! He has fallen deep and hard, hasn’t he? Her promise to remove the bracelet and let him stab her as a punishment for betraying him clearly stops him in his tracks and for all the talk of the mermaid wanting to kill the human who betrayed her, it becomes clear that Oh Gong wouldn’t probably be able to go through with it himself.

    9G5WCn9.jpg

  13. “Because a mermaid’s love is unconditional, she sacrifices everything. She gives everything to the ever selfish human and gets disregarded.”

The Prince’s words about the mermaid affect Oh Gong deeply and her sad love story really serves as both a cautionary tale and foreshadowing of what can happen to Oh Gong if he decides to follow his heart. The moment he sees the mermaid it’s as if he were looking at what he may one day becomes; what can happen if you fall in love with a human. Because one of the things the latest episodes taught us is that while a supernatural being may love a human there is no guarantee that such a love will have a happy ending.

    eyan4zB.jpg

“She must have lost her love to a human.”

Because the human may not love him back; because he may get betrayed; because that person may find a human who wouldn’t be a natural predator; because just like the mermaid once if he falls in love he will love that person unconditionally and literally forever and if she dies he will be left alone for all eternity or would end up spending hundreds of years waiting for her reincarnation which may fall in love with someone else and never love him again. Can you even imagine it? A heartache that would last forever.

It’s such a huge risk for a demon to fall in love with a human, just as it is a huge risk for human to fall in love with a demon, albeit for different reasons. They have both so much to lose. That’s the main theme and focus of the last two episodes - the love between a mortal and an immortal. It’s something that shouldn’t start, they shouldn’t mix. The prudent choice is, of course, not to get entangled with each other - both Seon Mi and Oh Gong are aware of it, their supernatural friends tells them to stay away from each other, but no matter how much they fight it, no matter how hard they try to resist and despite of the fact that they know how dangerous it is to succumb to these emotions, they can’t help themselves and keep falling in love with each other anyway.

    HMuwcGf.jpg

“Would she be able to kill him if she loves him?”

Would Oh Gong be able to kill Seon Mi if he loves her when he is ready to burn entire worlds for her and obliterate anyone who dares to touch a hair on her head, both figuratively and literally?

“I shouldn’t have started this love from the beginning?”

When was the beginning exactly, anyway? It was even before he put the bracelet on, wasn’t it? One thing is certain, it’s already late for Son Oh Gong. He’s already in love with Seon Mi.
