So does anyone know if they are still going forward with the no cut DVD/Blue-ray or are they going to stop because the korean fans don't want to do it anymore? I know someone talked about that pages ago but i lost the page because this thread moves fast. :)

    Edit: soompi posted this ^^

    http://www.soompi.com/2016/10/05/lee-joon-gi-celebrates-1-million-followers-instagram-fun-cast-shot-scarlet-heart-goryeo/

"It’s reported that Lee Joon Gi’s Instagram has been followed by more than 600,000 users since the premiere of “Scarlet Heart: Goryeo.”

See? That's what I was talking about! He's gaining more and more  popularity right now! I'm so happy for him!

I am sorry to say, but I'm not setting too much stock by what the Korean fans want for this drama anymore :)  (I'm sorry, please don't kill me, just my honest opinion :) ). From the beginning, there has always been something about the drama that wasn't to their taste - At the beginning it was the music, too many princes and characters, always something -  now it's not enough princes?? which is why we now have two versions of the drama - one missing a lot of the princes and side characters, and so and so forth. Unarguably, we have had more Hae Soo -  Wang Wook romantic scenes than we would like, but the scenes we have had with Wang So-Hae Soo while not being romantic have shown how Hae Soo makes Wang So a better human being overall. And it has to be said that it is an adaptation, so the writer will try hard not to deviate too much from the source material - Granted, it is an atypical K-drama - there are so many potential second leads and so many kings it seems before Wang So. It is not by any means a perfect drama, but in my honest opinion, for the home audience, there will always be somethiing that they don't like about the drama, but as we can see with the different versions that many of us aren't happy about, you can only go so far to cater to people's tastes before you start to look and act crazy...

I agree with you on that matter, I mean, I'm  not in any way saying that Korean opinions aren't important, actually I love knowing what they're thinking. But still, this drama wasn't well received there from the beginning and it's hard to change an opinion once you made your mind.  SHR isn't perfect, but it's far from being a bad drama and definitely don't deserve all the bad criticism it is receiving there. This is an adaptation and the drama isn't deviant much for its material source and when it does is for the better ( like how we are seeing more of the prince's mind when in the c-version it is more focused on Ruoxi/Hae Soo).

This drama was definitely made with international views in mind, I can't help but think the production knew the risk they were taking in doing that. They definitely wanted the drama to succeed in Korea, but their target wasn't there, but more in the much large audience outside of Korea and tbh, seeing the results now, I think they made the right choice: SHR is immensely popular right now everywhere but Korea.

I was just reading an article about this yesterday and it explains very well what I'm trying to convey here:

"Ultimately, the fact there are K-dramas that cater specifically to Korean K-drama fans while others do the same to internationally K-drama fans shows that South Korean television is taking into account not all of their viewers are domestic. Their willingness to incorporate international fans’ preferences shows their willing to expand. To be frank, such a move is smart because the last thing Korean television, or Hallyu in general, wants to do is implode on itself, similar to what happened to Japan with J-pop and anime." ( Jan Omega)

Read the full article here: http://www.inquisitr.com/3536974/scarlet-heart-ryeo-and-moonlight-drawn-by-clouds-viewerships-contrasts-k-drama-preferences-of-koreans-to-international-fans/

Also, as a LJK fan, I think we should be supporting him now more than ever. The Korean audience may think the drama is relying on his popularity to sell, and while they're not entirely wrong, they're forgetting the factor that he's becoming really popular in other countries right now thanks to SHR ( he was already well-known in some countries, but this drama is definitely bringing him some buzz). He's not being affected in a bad way at all, on the contrary, he's probably the one who's gaining the most with SHR right now.

I lurk on the Reddit forum and someone posted this:

Can anyone here corroborate the above? Did MLSHR pull a Cheese in the Trap?

That was me (check out the username). It is public knowledge among Korean fans and antis.

I'm not saying you two are wrong, but please let's not go there. CITT thread became a hell bc of this same reason.

Also, as @qwenli pointed out, the kdrama is faithfully following the cversion pace in terms of romance since Ruoxi and the 4th became a couple late in the story. Also, it would be impossible to cover everything that happened till now in 5/6 episodes and if  they did it would be very poorly.

Altho I find myself thinking about this too, but I think there are 3 factors to consider here:

    1. the original c version story which MLSHR is based on had the female lead as the thread that narrates the story. She appears almost everywhere and constantly, so there was never a doubt that the development was her journey. Here in the k version, altho HS has her inner dialogue here and there, I dun find her being used as the main narrator. In fact, the k version paint her as having a fuzzy knowledge of history.

    2. In all of MLSHR posters, previews and earlier introductions, it was very clear that they were selling an ensemble cast. Even at the presscon, nearly everyone who doesnt die in the first 5 eps were there in attendance. So in this aspect, I cannot say SBS deceived us. Its just that as the story develops, Lee Joon Gi became such a force that cannot be ignored that viewers clamour for more of him.

    3. There were already previous mathematical calculation of when the otp story will start to unfold officially based on the original c version development. And the answer of ep 13 was correct. In the last few secs, Soo finally hugs and comforts SO.

Hence although its true that the director favour KHN (he openly praised KHN as being very handsome at the presscon), I cannot fully pinpoint him as being unfair.

    Couldn't agree more.

While I agree that the drama had some unnecessary WookSoo scenes here and there,  the longing we have for SoSoo relationship is what make this ship so enjoyable. Everything that happened till now was a step in the road for these two getting together. So's development is believable because we had more than 10 episodes to see it happen. If everything was faster that it is now, we would probably not enjoy this ship as much as we do,

The only thing I wanted is that we had more than 20 episodes, but sadly we dont =/

My rough translation of the new OST:

(I really hope the Korean lyrics for it is right, because the audio on my computer isn't working right now, so I can't hear it for myself).

Hide those tears in your heart

    And erase those memories

End this relationship we won't be able to live out here

Even if we live out our lives in sorrowful tears

    Like the scattered wind

Like a path that can't be found

No matter how hard you search

We can't get back our love

    My heart sending you away

    You will disappear

    When the sun's rays dissolve

So I'm looking my fill of you

The one I will have to forget when darkness falls

I will have to leave you this way

    Like the scattered wind

Like a path that can't be found

No matter how hard you search

I can't get back our love

    My heart sending you away

    At your departing footsteps

The tears I was trying so hard to hold back fall

    Like the falling flower petals

    A pitiable person

Because we have to end this way

If one day we meet again

    Then, let us not part

    My love.

Thank you for the translations. I was dying to know the lyrics but arrg This song is pretty much a foreshadow of what's gonna happen in the future and I'm surely no ready for that.
Our OTP will sail just to be permanently crushed afterwards D=

    [c-version spoilers below]

I just found out c-version had a season 2 focused on  Ruoxi and 4th prince meeting each other and becoming a couple in the future, so while I don't think we will get a season 2, I hope we can see Hae-soo finding So in the future as well =)

I didnt sleep well last night.

I know why Wang So became the Ruthless GwangJong, because Haesoo has and never will love him.

Even if somewhere down the line in ep 15 or 17, haesoo finally turn towards him, I am sorry its too late. Wang So will never believes her anymore. In addition, he will marry Yeonhwa to spite her.

I see it all coming now.

Who are the folks who said Haesoo will have a clean break with Wook when he turned her back to her in the rain? It was just a milestone towards Wook as a villain and a testimony to Haesoo's undying love for him.

Thanks alot show, I didnt know you had this in you for daring to be different from the c version and most k dramas, you will certainly be a hallmark show for many years to come.

I have never felt so betrayed as a viewer. Since people have been clamouring for Lee Joon Gi, SBS released breathtaking stills, wonderful bts and spoilers. Thanks for the ride, thanks for the betrayal.

HS had reasons (and good ones for the record) for rejecting WS in today's episode. Some things still need to happen before these two get together.

Also, as some people had already pointed out, she's been showing signs of having feelings for WS, she just can't act/acknowledge them at this point ( and as far as a know, that's how things unfold in the c version, Ruoxi takes a hell lot of time to accept her feelings for the 4th prince).

Be patient, OTP time will come when its time.

Yeorobun, it's unconfirmed, but initial ratings show an increase to 7.9%.  Baby steps in the right direction!!

EDIT:  Need to note general viewership last night looked like it was slightly down, but we still saw an increase in our own rating since last week. The other 2 dramas came in at 18.5% and 7.9%.

Oh god! I can't handle these low ratings for such a great show. =/

it seems like ML will be the new "Healer": Low ratings in Korea, huge success outside of the country.

Still, Moon Lovers is far from being a flop: Breaking records in China and other Asia countries, second most view dramas on dramafever rn and so on..

  7. Guys, calm down! It was just ONE episode! We still have 8 to go, just don`t drop a drama for such a thing.

I`ll wait for judge what happened when I watched it w/subs, but right now I think  HS is clearly avoiding WS for some reason ( doesn't want to change history and is afraid that her presence will affect the outlook of events maybe?)

I haven't watched the C-version, but I know that there's something similar there (spoilers ahead maybe?): Ruoxi didn't want to accept her feelings for the 4th prince bc she was afraid of what would happen in the future and of what he would become ( or something like that?), till she gave in and accepted her love for him despite what was going to happen in the future. I think the Kdrama will follow this route as well.

There are probably things that still need to happen before our otp get together ( like YH and WS marriage and I don't see it happening if HS had accepted WS feelings for her in this episode).

The drama has been incredible till now, so please don't just start hating it because one episode didn't go according to what we wanted. Have more faith in it, let the plot unfolds and have so patience =)

I'm going now, see you later o/

  8. PERFECT!!! I giggled throughout the entire episode! Cuteness overload!!!!!!!!!!!
But plz bring his old hair back plzzzzz
    image.jpg

Maybe this weird hairdo has something to do with that scene where MY wash his hair? Maybe she'll be the one to fix it for him xD (I mean, we saw that preview of Danielicios and MY dancing together ages ago and only now it came to happen, so it's possible that this "wash scene" will happen in the next episodes)
