So, March 1st is a SK holiday. It's MARCH 1st MOVEMENT (SAMIL MOVEMENT) DAY. On March 1, 1919, a peaceful protest against Japanese Imperial rule occurred. The organizer of this protest was Yu Gwansun. The Gugbang-Ilbo (National Defense Daily) asked 2089 soldiers which actress they want cast as Yu Gwansun.

I read it on GDW Vietnam fanpage. They said a top A-list actress refused this project. Maybe they get it wrong. Thank you for correct it.

You're welcome. I would be really surprised if they don't get an A-list actress (whether it be Jeon Ji Hyun or someone else) considering it is suppose to be a big budget, fantasy-action movie especially with Warner Brothers backing the film. The relationship between Kasuki Fuse and Kei Amemiya is a big part of the story.

Seem like rumour about Werewoft with Gang Dong Won is just a rumour. GDW confirmed. The article says that a top actress refused this project.

    http://m.entertain.naver.com/read?oid=076&aid=0003054787

Where does it say that it in the article? According to the article, a production representative said that there are plans to cast a top A-list actress. However, if the production fails to cast a top actress, there will be auditions to find a new face as an alternative.

"현재 톱 여배우 A가 물망에 올랐고 이 캐스팅이 불발될 시 다른 대안으로 신인 오디션을 통해 새로운 얼굴을 발굴할 계획도 가지고 있다"고 전했다."

The article then says that a top A-list actress is currently considering playing the heroine opposite Kang Dong Won.

"현재 강동원의 상대역을 맡을 여주인공은 톱 여배우 A가 검토 중인 단계다."

Also, neither CJ Entertainment nor Showbox (who produced and distributed Assassination) will be investing. Production money will be financed by Hollywood studio, Warner Brothers, who also financed Kim Jee Woon's Age of Shadows. They plan to begin filming in July.

Freakin' Jeon Do Yeon. Freakin' Kim Hye Soo. Goddesses Jeon Ji Hyun, Son Ye Jin, Song Hye Kyo. in one movie.  That would be the bomb. Girl power indeed. It would be like The Thieves but with the all-girl's club only.

IKR! The director who I can imagine pulling this off successfully would be Choi Dong Hoon. SHK has a point. A mostly female cast movie isn't new, but getting the big name actresses in one movie and doing it successfully would be such a coup.

  6. IN THE MARCH ISSUE OF W MAGAZINE KOREA, SONG HYE KYO WAS ASKED WHICH ACTRESSES SHE WANTS TO WORK WITH. OBVIOUSLY, SHE FIRST NAMES JEON DO YEON AND KIM HYE SOO. THEN SHE MENTIONS JEON JI HYUN AND SON YE JIN:

    SOURCE: W Magazine Korea

Excuse my not-so-perfect translation of the highlighted text. Hopefully, sites like Dramabeans would summarize her interview...

"...Rather than women just used as accessories, I would like to see a scenario where female colleagues are in equal terms. In Hollywood, a female "Ocean's Eleven" is being planned. I also want to try acting with my peers, Jeon Ji Hyun and Son Ye Jin. They have very different colors from me, and unlike me they have walked a solid path in films. I wish I had the chance when I was younger.

Can you freaking imagine such a movie? The visuals alone would be daebak!

    Hi @demarchilier!

Do you have any idea if the coat is faux?

I think that it is real. She's worn fur coats before. At first I thought it might be one of Gucci's fur coats but Gucci furs have some sort of print on them. I'm still trying to figure out what she wore. It looks like such a simple outfit but we all know that is the never the case with Jeon Ji Hyun. She is most likely wearing shoes and a dress that is over USD 1000 each.

  12. Jun Ji Hyun dresses for luxury at the supermarket with her husband

    jun.jpg
Article: 'Model force even at the supermarket' Jun Ji Hyun spotted shopping with husband

    Source: Donga Ilbo via Nate

    1. [+1,707, -85] The saying goes that if you spot a handsome man around Apgujung, you'll usually find Jun Ji Hyun next to him too... Apparently he's handsome like no other...

    2. [+1,259, -52] Her husband's super tall

    3. [+1,094, -55] You can tell on first glance that they're a rich couple...

Here are the bad comments if you want to read it. Mostly it is about people disappointed that she is wearing fur. I wasn't surprised. Well, fur will never go out of fashion, sawry. Gucci, Valentino, Saint Laurent, Chloe, Miu Miu, Burberry, Marni, Fendi, etc. all have some kind of fur coat in their Fall 2016 collection. Anyway the positive comments have more upvotes than the negative comments. Also, since the comments are from Nate, I'm really surprised that there were positive comments with high upvotes...
    Spoiler

    4. [+222, -55] It's really off putting that someone as young as her, as rich as her, as influential as her, is wearing a fur jacket in this day and age....... I've never heard of her ever donating to charity and anything either. Does she not know about the amount of sacrifice and pain required to make that jacket?

    5. [+219, -39] I like Jun Ji Hyun but that fur jacket is really ruining my image of her...

    6. [+215, -44] She's rich, why is she wearing a fur jacket? I wish celebrities would stop wearing it. I hate it when people defend fur as fashion by saying it's the same as slaughtering animals for food...

    7. [+206, -43] Can't believe Jun Ji Hyun supports the fur industry... I get that it's your personal choice but it still makes me see her in a new light... Usually when celebrities wear something like this, it causes the item to sell out.. now I'm thinking of all the animals that have to die for this coat to sell out ㅠㅠ

    8. [+187, -35] Wearing fur is a personal choice... but she's a celebrity with a lot of influence in the fashion industry, so seeing her wear fur still is... really worrisome ㅠ

    9. [+183, -25] 30 animals have to be skinned alive to make that coat... fur is only beautiful when the animal that owns it is wearing it

    10. [+171, -46] She's so dumb, does she not realize what age she's living it? Who even wears fur coats around like this anymore? Does she not know how they're made? Ridiculous

    11. [+165, -19] Why is it hilarious to me that she wore a fur coat to the supermarket ㅋㅋㅋ

    12. [+160, -26] Disgusted by her fur

    13. [+111, -41] To all of you criticizing her fur coat... you realize how your goose down jackets are made too, right?

    14. [+95, -15] That fur coat... too much, really

    15. [+76, -15] Ji Hyun unni has some really bad off camera fashion taste ㅋ

Here’s How You Get Jun Ji-Hyun’s Latest K-Drama Look

“The Legend of the Blue Sea,” starring Jun Ji-Hyun (Se-hwa/Shim Cheong) and Lee Min-Ho (Kim Dam-ryeong/Heo Joon Jae) is one of the most popular Korean dramas to date. The Klog’s editor-in-chief Charlotte Cho, spoke exclusively with Jun Ji-Hyun’s official MUA Son Dae Sik to hear about Jun Ji-Hun’s makeup and skincare secrets!

THE KLOG: As Jun Ji-Hyun’s official MUA, you teamed up with her on the latest hit Korean drama, “The Legend of the Blue Sea.”  How would you describe the makeup concept for “The Legend of the Blue Sea,” and how does it differ from her last drama, “Love from Another Star?”

SON DAE SIK: Jun Ji-Hyun played a mermaid who started living on land, so her makeup had to be very natural and fresh. Because she was always shooting scenes in water, I focused on minimizing her face makeup and often used a fresh, pink lip from Hera (Rouge Holic No. 147 Supreme Pink) so she could look as natural as possible. In “Love from Another Star,” her character was a famous celebrity, so I had to play up her superstar status by creating more smokey, sultry looks.

THE KLOG: Jun Ji-Hyun definitely had a natural, ethereal look throughout the drama. But we noticed a scene in episode 15 where she visits a nightclub and she has more makeup on than usual (and gets Lee Min Ho a tad jealous in the process). Can you share some tips on how to achieve that smokey eye look?

SON DAE SIK: For the nightclub scene, I was careful not to make her look too polished or done-up, as her character is very innocent and naive. Remember, that was her first experience at a nightclub since living on land! That’s why I decided to add a smokey eye but made sure to keep it as simple as possible. I applied black eyeliner and quickly blended out a purple shadow on her lids.

THE KLOG: Jun Ji-Hyun’s skin looked so clear and youthful. Can you share a few skincare tips she follows?

SON DAE SIK: Filming a drama involves many long nights and a very demanding shooting schedule. Even though there were many, many nights that she came home late, she always took the time to double-cleanse her face so that there was not a single trace of makeup, and applied several layers of treatment and moisturizing skincare products. I also advised her to use eye patches whenever possible, like during her commute home.

THE KLOG: What kind of makeup trends are happening in Korea right now?

SON DAE SIK: For 2017 spring, we’ll be seeing more focus on high coverage concealers and foundations, but have a natural, lightweight texture and consistency. That clean, flawless coverage will be coupled with tinted lip & cheeks by tapping a deep red lip color on the lips slightly or with a brush. The flush of color on the lips and cheeks will be very lightweight, and will remind you of watercolors on paper.

THE KLOG: Did you use any contouring techniques for Jun Ji-Hyun?

SON DAE SIK: In Korea, contouring is not only about playing with highlights and shadows, but also supplementing it with dewy and matte textures. For example, I would make sure that the highlighted areas were not only bright, but also dewy, and for the shaded areas, it should have a more matte texture.

THE KLOG: Did any beauty products Jun Ji-Hyun used sell out in Korea after the drama aired?

SON DAE SIK: Rouge Holic – No. 147 Supreme Pink by HERA is already sold out everywhere. It was a huge reminder on just how influential Jun Ji-Hyun is, especially in beauty.

THE KLOG: What’s next for you now that the drama is officially over? Do you have any current projects you are working on now?

SON DAE SIK: I’m still working with celebrities, and I will be launching my new brand this Spring with MUA Park Tae Yun. Stay tuned for the launch!

Why is that there still jjh ads in china even there is hallyu ban?

According to the February 3rd article in the Dong-A Ilbo, one of SK's major newspapers, the South Korean Embassy in China confirmed that some contracts were allowed to continue which include Jeon Ji Hyun's CF contract with OPPO. Her ads were resumed in January. China's ban can go from moderate like allowing some contracts to continue (JJH's OPPO CF) to severe (complete ban) depending on whether SK will proceed with THAAD.

    Here's the article: http://news.donga.com/3/all/20170203/82706138/1

With the impeachment of Park Geun Hye going on, there are potential candidates for SK president waiting in the wings. THAAD has become an election issue. There are some political leaders who are against THAAD.

  15. Best Writer-Actor Matchups In K-Dramas

    jun-ji-hyun-kim-soo-hyun-song-hye-kyo-e1
The compatibility between writer and actor is very important, especially since many actors have made breakthrough performances under the right writer. News outlet TV Report recently compiled a ranking of the best writer-actors pairs, as voted by 30 of its staff.
    park-ji-eun-jun-ji-hyun.jpg

The pair first worked together on SBS’s “My Love From the Star.” Chun Song Yi was written with Jun Ji Hyun in mind, so she was a character that could not have been portrayed by anyone else. The pair recently reunited again for SBS’s “The Legend of the Blue Sea.”

As a voter described, it is an ideal match between an actress who can pull off the common “top star” character as superbly as the more difficult mermaid character, and a writer who breathes life into these characters. Other comments included “They compliment each other’s strengths,” and “Jun Ji Hyun’s fantasy image and [hilarious] silliness in her acting have a synergy when they meet Park Ji Eun.”

  17. No amount of research could help South Korean actress Gianna Jun in her toughest role - being a mother

    st_20170127_gnjun27_8_2900295.jpg?itok=v

No character popular South Korean actress Gianna Jun has played before in her nearly two-decade career could prepare her for her hardest role to date - a mother.

Jun, 35, gave birth to her first child, a son, in February last year, four years after marrying a longtime friend, Mr Choi Joon Hyuk, who reportedly works in finance.

She says: "You can never be ready to become a mother. I thought I knew how it would be like by watching videos, talking to friends and reading about it.

"But experiencing it first-hand is just so different. It is by far the hardest, but most satisfying, role I've taken." The Straits Times interviewed her by e-mail.

Six months after childbirth, she plunged back into work, playing a mermaid in the drama series Legend Of The Blue Sea.

The lanky actress loves swimming and taking dips in the cool sea, but she struggled with flapping around in a mermaid tail in the water.

"This is my first and last time playing a mermaid," she says.

"It is always interesting to play characters that are out of this world, but it was really physically taxing to have to film underwater in the mermaid costume.

"At first, I was struggling to open my eyes wide underwater. It is a natural reaction for my eyes to squint underwater, so I had to keep practising till I looked natural on camera."

What seems to come naturally to her is comedy.

She tickled viewers with her mermaid's clueless antics on land - digging into spaghetti with her bare hands and repeatedly pulling out sheet after sheet of tissue paper from a box like an amused child.

The last episode of the series airs tonight. Legend has rated well in Singapore, topping the ratings in its time slot on Thursday and Friday nights on StarHub TV.

In her previous megahit series, My Love From The Star (2013), she put her gift for comic timing to use as a bimbotic superstar actress with a habit of using accented English words for dramatic effect.

Creating comedy for the two K-dramas was challenging for her. She says: "I have to always be proactive and enthusiastic. I felt the pressure to come up with a different funny antic to entertain the audience in each episode."

In fact, she had already proven to be a talented comic actor over a decade ago, in the romantic comedy hit My Sassy Girl (2001), where she played the brash girlfriend of a meek college dork (Cha Tae Hyun).

The duo reunited on the set of Legend, where Cha made a cameo as a conman attempting to cheat her mermaid character.

Jun says she felt nostalgic meeting her Sassy Girl co-star: "He is still as comical as ever.

"We've both grown up so much over the years, it's unbelievable how long it has been since the movie.

"He is a big boss of an entertainment agency now and I jokingly said I won't dare to bully him now like I did before in My Sassy Girl."
